UyiIredia: Both the brain and computer system are made of specifically arranged chemicals. The human mind-computer analogy has many shortcomings starting from the fact that computers are unconscious things. I can break a system into pieces and lose money but try that to a human and \I get jail if not a death sentence.

My comparison is in their immaterial characteristics. Both are immaterial. Referring to softwares, not the physical computer, and referring to the mind, not just the brain.

UyiIredia: grin Ode! Na the processor dey do the math calculations and not the software. Computers have no sense of logic and are unconscious of what they do, that's why with them you have GIGO. This isn't the same for humans especially you. I try to nack logic into your coconut head and all that comes out is crap.

I'm trying to dumb it down to your level. I never said computers have consciousness. I said they perform complex mathematical calculations. Read properly before you respond.
Religion / Re: All Men Are Equal Under God? by cyrexx: 11:16am On Jul 16, 2014
Human mind is NOT just chemicals. Just like a computer system is NOT just chemicals.

It's like asking since when when does chemicals perform complex mathematical calculations, when referring to computers.

UyiIredia: @ TheBigUrban2: You failed when you started mentioning logic. You see, logic requires that you have a conscious mind and atheists (naively following neuroscientists like Sam Harris) ignore the fact that the mind of man is immaterial. They believe your mind is simply chemicals in your brain at work. Since when do mere chemicals have logic?

And the mumbo jumbo begins.

Here's how your reasoning goes:
Mind has logic capabilities, mind is immaterial therefore mind is spiritual and spiritual ultimate is your religion's god.

How about computer software can perform complex mathematical calculations, computer software is immaterial, therefore computer software is spiritual, and the ultimate spiritual is the Almighty Computer Deity.

Buying 11gb data wholesale from glo at 10k and re-selling in units of 1gb for 1.5k, totalling 16.5k; is not a bad business deal, in my opinion.

While some people see problems (high cost of data on android phones), a Nigerian sees a money-making opportunity by trying to solve high-cost data problem of fellow Nigerians.

Problem solving is how money is made. No lele.

Mzsolex: yeah it's always obvious, I guess frustration made you realized there's no God.

p.s If am fighting 4 ma God(lyk some people), most of y'all would dead meat. I just can't stand stupidity, the curse words help drive home the point.

Frustration?

Where did you get that from?
Most atheists are living better lives than most of you religious folks who are either busing praying everyday against imaginary demons of anti-success and commanding your imaginary enemies to fall down and die, but unfortunately those imaginary demons keep resurrecting and tormenting you people. Lol.

We are free from those mind games being played on religious minds.

So where is frustration you're talking about?

O, so much dirty words from a "holy mouth"..

Most of us are ex-christians, we know more about Christianity than Islam or other religions. But it's not just Christianity we attack. Check nairaland threads very well, we attack Islam too.

You can continue hating and cursing now.. I bet your yahweh will be proud of you fighting his battles dirty for him.. Lol

@bolded, that is why he failed to answer my question and is asking another? undecided

All I have seen in this thread is you lot claim "intelligence" whilst showing very little of it in your presentations.

Nobody is trying to show intelligence. Some of us are just allergic to the nonsense statements that some people put up and expected to be accepted as sensible statements.

What has an Atheist got to offer beyond "I do not believe"? That is null from the onset. #LOL

"You do not believe"- null.

Yes, we seek to know, we do not seek to believe. Faith is excellent excuse for gullibility, wishful thinking and deliberate ignorance. Some of us don't have the herd mentality of believing without reasonable evidence.

"You come from nothing"- null

The conclusion is quite simple- nullity over nullity is nullity a.k.a. 0.

Nobody wants to be a zero or at least smart people don't.

Someone (AManFromMars) has already replied to this your regurgitated fallacy. Do well to check his comments.

Nobody has said we come from nothing. Nobody knows for sure where we come from. Scientific community has been gradually unraveling the mystery little by little. But there are lies and fairy tales from religions about where we come from. And some us are allergic to those lies and fairy tales. We just don't believe those nonsense. That doesn't mean we believe nothing. When something is true, it's true and you can see it. You don't need to emphasize belief about it.

A religious person reads his Bible or Quran and thinks he doesn't need to know more. A scientist has read many books and still thinks he needs to know more.

Don't blame him though, he's unable to think beyond the parameters allowed by his holy book.

So you believe that something or someone can be uncaused?

texanomaly: Do Atheists even believe PK/TK is even a possibility? undecided

I am an atheist, and personally believe it's a possibility. Probably there's a latent powerful human ability that is not yet explored and currently unexplainable but the future sciences may be able bring to fore.

Like electricity was a mystery to a man who lived 200 years ago. Superhuman abilities be a mystery to us now, but may no longer be a mystery in the next 200 years.

I suggest you read these books
1. "Physics of the Impossible" by Michio Kaku (a world renowned physicist)
2. "Beyond Star Trek" by Laurence M. Krauss (also a world renowned astrophysicist)

Cyrexx :

^Your case is no case at all. So far, I see ad hominems and begging the question and no attempt to logically prove your convoluted analysis. This is an analogy of what Religionists are saying:

1. I am an intelligent being.

2. I came from God

3. God came from nothing.

We say:

1. You can't attempt to solve a problem by bringing a bigger problem

2. Bringing God to explain the reality of our world is no explanation at all since you can't describe this god and prove his existence.

Conclusion:

1. You say you come from God

2. God came from nothing

2. Nothing is zero

3. And zero is unintelligent

4. Therefore your assertion is baseless because telling me that God came from nothing is no intelligent statement at all.

5. If you were to tell me everything came from god then you must describe this god and tell me where he came from and stop begging the question.

Rebuttal:

1. You insist you are intelligent

2. We say you must have come from something intelligent to have intelligence.

3. Applying the logic further, God must have come from something intelligent to have intelligence or else all the above statement is moot.

In essence, a Religionist insults himself as "nothing" everytime he says there is a creator who came from "nothing" .

As for evolution, dump your religious books and go and read real scientific books on the subject . If you do not get it, then there is little need engaging you as you might never get it.

-QED

You are free to ban me if you like cos that's what you are very good at.

Interesting, so religion is now in support of evolutionary biology. I thought they said their God created everything as it is within six days. This is interesting.

Did Quran or Bible teach you about DNA or forensic sciences? So what do you have to say about the evolutionary history of prehistoric men who roamed the earth millions of years ago(as evidenced by fossils) , long before your Adam and Eve story? Or did your holy books talk about this too?

Joshthefirst: foolishness beyond measure. This kind of thinking is what makes me afraid for mankind's direction these days. Public ignorance gaining a following and a cheering.

Relax dude,

It's just sarcasm.

But the truth still remains that your God is inferior to, less powerful than, subject to and created by NOTHING!, whom I worship and adore.
Religion / Re: The Uncaused; Origins Of The Universe... The Attributes Of The Starter. by cyrexx: 2:55pm On Dec 21, 2013
plaetton:

Mystery is the origin of the universe?

Indeed, this statement is golden and should be engraved on the golden sacred tablets of eternal wisdom.

That's why I worship NOTHING (which is roughly a synonym for mystery)

Cos
According to religious folks...
1. NOTHING is greater than god
2. NOTHING exists before god exists.
3. God is created by NOTHING
4. God's wisdom is inferior to NOTHING
5. NOTHING is beyond the omnipotence and omniscience of god.

Therefore NOTHING is the true god that created the universe, the uncaused Cause and the Prime Mover and this god is far far superior to any Allah and Yahweh.
