Christianity EtcRe: Apostle Dr. T.O Obadare Given A State Burial By Osun State Government At Osogbo by dabigwalls: 7:50pm On Aug 17, 2013
I remember this man and his passion for redemption, salvation and the imminence of eternal damnation or reward. Those are teachings that have today given way for church financial mathematics, trusteeship, xristomarketing, private jeticology, clean suits, coded babyism, spirito moneylaundering and what we have as contemporary Christianity. Christ will clean this earth some day and it will start from his house. RIP sir.

Islam7 Reasons Why A Christian Loves Islam by dabigwalls(op): 2:53pm On Aug 08, 2013
Sorry Mod, I am a Christian and apologise for violating your "Muslim Posters Only" rule for your section but this is my latest article on my blog and I thought to share:

A lot of times, we live and interact with people based on our perceptions of their religious faiths. I believe that religious stereotypes, under most social conditions determine the interactive configuration that our metal faculties promote.  For instance, a fully bearded man at an airport is more likely to be questioned for terrorism related matters than a lady in a mini skirt regardless of intentions which remain clearly unseen. Islam is referred to as a religion of peace and whether anybody agrees (or disagrees) with that assertion is a highly subjective matter and does not relate to the core interest of this piece. The intention of this piece is to share personal opinion about a religion that has inherent  good but which has been bastardized by certain internal and external forces. In any case I love Islam for the following reasons:

1)      ISLAMIC PREACHERS NEVER ADORN THEIR COMMUNICATION MATERIALS WITH HUMAN ELEMENTS. I have often questioned the rationale for the celebration of fellow humans, fellow sinners, and fellow corrigible seeds like myself adorning banners and posters  by religious groups who seem to practically worship individuals above God.  Advertisements are designed with clearly commercial intent and purposes with eye catching and eye popping headers and body copies that clearly present religious activity as a business. Often times, one would see a man and his wife embossed in dazzling images on large and expensive billboards, on Lagos BRT buses, in magazines, on TV and in strategically positioned banners. Junctions are usually the best sought locations for these celebrations of shiny human mediocrity above true worship of God who is spirit and who must be worshipped in spirit and in truth. Islam is strong in Nigeria and I never see them engage in superfluous shows of grand image laundering in the publicsphere. The moderation that Islam demonstrates in celebrating even their best brains reflects a humility that I think other religions should emulate. Must a poster and banner show a man and his wife before it passes a message of inherent power from a God who is more interested in the heart?

2)      ISLAM DEMOTES GLUTTONY AND PROMOTES GOOD HEALTH. I have read in a number of publications that the body engages in a recovery and flushing cycle during fast. I find quite interesting, the fact that one month in a year is dedicated to lightweight feeding. A lot of us eat too much probably because it  does no harm to our bank accounts but we are inundated on a daily basis with warnings from health experts about the hazards of different kinds of foods to the point that nothing seems safe to consume anymore. If Islam chooses to give the body a one month break per year per adult, then I love it.

3)      INTEREST FREE LOANS. While my brothers and sisters in the capitalist enclaves of earth will disagree with this principle, I love the fact that Islam highlights the moral elements of financial transactions beyond the gain element. If we offered help one to the other in this world, we have no need for the exploitation that Al-Riba (interest) promotes. A man who borrows does so, ideally because he has a need. If we met that need for such a man, why must we extend that to exploiting him under the guise of such economic terms as cost of funds, NPV, etc? To this end, while Islam does not condemn borrowing, it condemns the attendant exploitation that has today marred the world in a dog-eat-dog fiery contest of who has the most financial gains from such transactions.  I am tempted to amateurishly quote from Quran 2: 275 – 276 state that “God destroys interests and gives increase for charities”.

4)      ISLAM PROMOTES GENROUSITY. My parent’s neighbors of about 20 years have clearly demonstrated immense generosity to our family. The Alhaji and his wife have cheerfully given from ordinary meals to celebration rams. It is not so much about the gifts that they give, but more about they give delightfully. They share with open arms and are always ready to offer help. I usully smirk at remarks I hear about Muslims being terrorists and all but my neighbors are so perfect that for 20 years, we have never had a fight or a quarrel because they show so much respect for others and have increased the bond between the two families till date. The husband relates with those whom so called elites call “common folks” and it has been a delight living with this wonderful family. My Arab friends in the UK were very hospitable and friendly. I really look forward to time and opportunity to travel to Saudi Arabia to see and just be with these guys. I have hesitated in inviting them down here to Nigeria for obvious reasons at least for now, but in a short while I hope to do so.

5)      ISLAM PROMOTES NATURAL BEAUTY. I detest make up, especially in ladies that have invested so much faith in it. Every individual is made beautiful. We however accelerate wear and tear of our skins when we administer all kinds of chemical mixtures and weapons on skins that were carefully crafted by God for us. We bastardize our God-given skins and body with so much trash that our ladies look like masquerades and ghosts when they are fresh from bed. I lived in the northern part of Nigeria for some time and I can tell without any hesitation that the re-engineered human beauty common in many parts of Nigeria deals a heavy blow to my appreciation of beauty other than what I have seen in the North. We carry about lips and skins that are laboratories for imperialist money making ventures without knowing it. Many ladies today look like fish out of water without make up. Kudos to cosmetics companies for this undeniable feat however.

6)      ISLAM HAS THE BEST BURIAL RITES EVER. I am usually stunned at the height of uncontrolled wastages that accompany burial ceremonies in many parts of the world. A corpse is a corpse and not a human being. I love the summary and focused approach of Islam towards treatment of the dead which aligns perfectly with how the remains of Jesus Christ whom I worship was treated.  Why dance Disco and Apala  music over a dead man that should just be buried and the lessons of his life shared? We are unfortunately drowned by the demands of our cultural societies and then we find ourselves enmeshed in monstrous debts, uncontrolled wastages and distractions for what is usually supposed to be a one-hour internment of body mass. By all means, upon my passage as God wills, I hope that nobody will attempt to engage in any ceremony over my remains. I will not support any debt incurred by anyone on my burial from the spiritual realm. Any such gbeses  (debts) is an OYO (on your own) one.
7)      ISLAM PROMOTES INTERNAL UNITY OF FAITHFULS. There is this enviable “oneness” you find in Islam. There are not overly diverse interpretations of the revelations of the Quran that give room for vile and deceitful men to sneak in porous and indecent interpretations. The seeming unity cutting across parts of the world where Islam is practiced connotes some internal consistency of spiritual parts of the religion that makes this possible.

Happy Eid to all my Muslim friends.

He is unlike Ameachi who does not know his left and right and agreed to disorganise his state with outsiders. It did not occur to him that those northners have enough problems face to face with them. Instead, they abadoned their numerous problems (one of the highest poverty ridden regions)in order to add rivers to their finished states and paid him meaningless solidarity visit, inwardly assisting him to destroy rivers state too. Ameachi failed to reason that non of his south south etc. regions has paid him such visits. i would have disagreed if i was told that Ameachi is as worthless as he is.
I don't know what you smoke, but this is quite sensible and funny too,,,lol

FamilyOne Mistake I Would Never Make In My Next Life. by dabigwalls(op): 8:25pm On Jul 17, 2013
Many times we recount experiences of regret and wish that we had never taken certain actions. There might have been a pre-existing thread on this subject but over time we develop newer lessons of life along this journey of life. Some of these lessons are usually formed in our memory and while some are beautiful and make our hearts fond, others are not so pleasant because given the chance, we might have acted differently. I will share mine:

Out of childhood exuberance, I once denied that my mother was my mother and that really pained my parents. I still cannot recall the hard facts of the situation but as my days on earth continue to yield one after the other, I see that a mother's blood Is the thickest in creation. Along the challenges of life, I saw a woman who could give herself and her all for my comfort. She spared nothing and still remains an angel in all my days on Earth so far. How could I have made that grave error....how? If that day comes a second time, I would dress my mother in medals of honour and pledge lifelong love to this evergreen source of love and truth.

FamilyDining Sets: Are They Losing Their Functionality And Value In Nigeria Today? by dabigwalls(op): 5:55am On May 03, 2013
I have observed that society indeed evolves through a cycle. We are usually enthused and excited about new things, events and people but over time, we find more convenient, the need to return to status quo. Case in point: Dining Tables in Nigerian homes became a fad decades ago. Today, we still buy them like a compulsory utility but most often never really use them. I have one and I do not think that I have used it in more than 4 months! So beyond space filling and aesthetics do you think homes whose members eat in the living room need dining sets? And is it a socio-cultural phenomenon peculiar to just Nigeria? Thoughts please.

Paul, Peter, Stephen, Jesus Christ, the disciples...none lived very long. What is in this Nigeria or earth to pursue. I am too sold out to God to be concerned of an extra 40 yearsa in this world. My treasure is not here, so my mind is not interested in NEPA, PDP, Lagos, London or Abuja. Nothing here worth staying the next minute for if not to help the poor and share the gospel with experiences of my life. What is the use of living to 80 and landing in sector 2 of hell?

I don't see a nation called Nigeria in 100 years from now. If eclipses can happen (the earth coming between the sun and moon), Nigeria will disintegrate. The soup is getting almost 'done'. Question is, do you have your second passport ready? Our leaders are all paying lip service to the matter of security, is it now me that will open chest and head to Bolori in Maiduguri to 'stop the killing' GEJ and his might couldn't?
It depends on what you want bro ! The word of God is a complete package,it depends on what you want ! Christ is there to give to us but if you choose not to receive what he is offering, then i will just say it's ur choice ! He gave us life that that we may have it abundantly but if i choose not to receive it,then it depends on me ! No one is saying trials won't come as a Christians but we should know wen we are been tried and wen we are been tempted. One is there to build us(trial)where as the other is there to bring us down and mock us (temptation) ! The word of God isn't about suffering but we have been admonished by Christ to endure difficult times(persecution for following Christ) if they come for kingdom sake ! Christ never asked us to go looking for hard/difficult times where as HE has made available the abundance of good times.
Christ died for you and I that HE may receive us unto HIMSELF !He gave us HIS life that HE may receive from us-repentance !Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.-1 Peter 3 :18
The woman with an Alabaster Jar of perfume equally gave ! The sinful woman(NOT MARY ! Luke 7:37) who wet Jesus'feet with her tears needed to be forgiven of her sins and she could identify the powers and personality of Jesus. She applied the heavenly wisdom and received a gift in return as expected ! ''Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
-Luke 7:47-48 This woman knew she was a sinner and that Jesus could cleanse her of her sins. The grace of God came upon her and she got her deliverance-forgiveness.
The shunemite woman ! She gave also to God by giving to the man of God ! She understood that Elisha was a Holy man (2nd Kings 4:coolShe cared for the man and respected God true her care for the prophet. She gave becos she has got something to give ! But her giving to the man of God has been orchestrated by God to care for HIS son the prophet and to further give back to her(Shuenamite woman) on the long run !-2nd Kings 4:14-17 She was given a son by God through the man of God !
May God help us to see the positive points in every word of God & not try to infuse negativity to discredit men of GOD and the word of GOD !
May God help us all
Our Saviour gave us examples and the Bible teaches us as well. God's salvation is full and free. You talk about a complete package but gave no depth to your definition of that. I wish you did. What is that "complete package"? Is the package of eternal life in Heaven in the thereafter or it is a package you live out here on earth. So when you say it is a complete packagae, I'd like to understand. The Lord Jesus Christ was God's son and his "complete package" was a life of good, a lot of good but also you found in the life of Jesus Christ:
1) Betrayal - Judas
2) Rejection - Israelites
3) Violence - The Roman Govt
4) Denial- Peter the Apostolic Head
5) Crucifixion - the entire world

The life of Paul
1) At risk of assasinations
2) Suffered travails at sea
3) Suffered separation
4) Jailed
5) Unmarried all through

These are the apostles of our Faith but when they gave they did not count anything on this earth as worthwhile like billions do today. The plastic surgery Christianity of today tells you "tithe so you can have testimonies of financial breakthroughs, keys to a house, etc but real and perfect reliogion is the care of widows, orphans - people who cannot give back to you.

I support tithing but just as James warned that you can ask but ask amiss, I am of the strong belief that you can also tithe and tithe amiss. God does no gamble. If he will bless you, your tithe is not why it will happen. Otherwise you wanna share His glory with Him? He will strike you down if you think you get anything by works. Just do good to all men, pay your tithe but not to God the Bank MD, tithe without announcement. He has no biz with our worthless currencies.

Many engage in dubious deals, cut out a percentage to God to "guarantee" a corporate theft and have the guts to place a demand of returns on those thithes. That is a lot trash going on there.

Has Nigeria changed? Is it the best country to live in amongst the world's poorest? Do we tithe and do conventions or not? Show me your works!
Christianity EtcRe: Accept The Whole Truth By Pastor Adeboye by dabigwalls: 2:04pm On Mar 12, 2013
I absolutely agree with the lessons and I must say that it is always a blessing to read God's word and understand it. I will like to however ask, why is Christianity these days always bandied as an investment. For instance in this message, there is a quick introduction of the inherent blessings that follow obedience of God's word as shared. But I will like to ask why we must always expect when we give. Can't we just give selflessly like Mary did with her Alabaster, like the Widow gave to Elisha the Prophet or like our Lord Jesus Christ gave of His life for no personal gains?

I don't believe that because I tithe I will not suffer or because I tithe, I will have Heaven on earth. My purpose and goal, is to (as hard as it is) serve God in spirit and in truth. Other things may or may not come, I don't care.

Boko Haram Guns Down Five Persons Playing Cards In Gombe
February 23, 2013 - 21:16 —

By SaharaReporters, New York

Suspected Boko Haram sect members last night shot dead five persons they found playing cards in Gombe, Gombe State. Several others were also seriously injured. Aside from the five that were confirmed dead, ten victims are reportedly in critical condition from bullet pellets that pieced their bodies. A security source told SaharaReporters that doctors in area hospitals were currently battling to save the lives of the injured.
One of the survivors disclosed that the sect members came on bikes chanting,“Allah Kubar,” then started firing at the group of people playing cards at an area called Angwan Bagadaza. A security operative confirmed the incident.
Our correspondent learnt that people around the scene took to their heels on hearing the spatter of gunshots.
Several eyewitnesses said that the attackers wore traditional flowing gowns. They also disclosed that the armed assailants escaped immediately after the attacks before the arrival of officers of the joint task force that patrols Gombe town. SaharaReporters learnt that the joint task force members launched a manhunt for the suspected killers, arresting one suspect.

PoliticsMy Fear For The North - When Will Their Sectional Redemption Come? by dabigwalls(op): 5:53am On Feb 19, 2013
I grew up having an innocent and pure desire to mix with friends from Northern region. The picture of the North that I had in my head was of course of the ground-nut pyramids of Kano State and the lovely weather of Jos. My aunt lived in Kaduna and I enjoyed every visit to Kaduna because it seemed to me then like a "Lagos" in the North. I was of course a Lagos boy born in Ikeja but visited Bakori in Katsina state just for the fun of it. I was also at Kaura Namoda around Zamfara/Kebbi axis on an assignment. By age 22, I had crossed nearly all the states of the North Western part of the country and the North East as well. My service year brought again opportunity to live in Maiduguri and I remember how I monitored elections in Bama Local Govt., a few hours from Cameroon. My sojourn took me to places like Gamboru-Ngala and many other parts of the state that one may question if indeed they were Nigeria. I saw camels cross near-deserts and saw camel meat. I had a Fulani girlfriend then too who seemed to just cap my entire interest in the North.
I was however a Fola Agoro born and bred boy. The late Fola Agoro was our landlord and neighbour and after whom the area in Shomolu was named. I grew up believing the mantra - "One Nigeria" where we sang "Me I like my country, I like the land and people, everything e de for Nigerriiiaaa...." That TV ad sobers me when I remember it because the voice over ended with "the things wey oda countries de find, we get am!". The North was "vacation zones" for me. I would boast about my journeys and trips and was exceedingly in love with the North.

Nairaland is always awash with stories of celebrities visiting Nigeria even in the heat of travel warnings issued by foreign nations to citizens about dangers of coming to Nigeria. In the last one year alone, we have seen big international names defy all the entire threats of kidnapping, hostage taking and all to come for the mere purpose of entertainment. Name then: Rick Ross, Idris Elba, Akon, Keri Hilson, Kelly Rowland, Big Sean, and the less-liked-by-me Kim Kardashian and many others that I do not remember now. So while Nigeria is seen as a hotbed for terrorism, American stars troop here with less concern. The flip side of the story however is that they only come to Lagos. Lagos seems to steal the entire show all the time. The tradition and pattern being created by this development in the future may mean that Nigerian Art may be defined by what obtains in the Lagos area if that is not already happening. The North however has huge potentials to attract foreigners but I doubt that except a near 100% turn around of the social-dynamics of co-existence is achieved, the North may be left to suffer social starvation, artistic deprivation and lose any shine whatsoever for attracting foreigners for anything. Even Southerners fear to go to the North today and I long for that glorious beauty that the North used to represent in the past. It is clearly lost.
