This makes no sense, what's the point of being a spy if you can be easily identified? I mean this is just so silly, the damn uniform got ''Spy'' stamped all over it. Nigeria is a fu#king joke.

The uniform says SPY and not S.P.Y. They can't even get that right.
Yet another one who refuses to read.

Some people will just come on Nairaland to display their crass ignorance. Even when a number of posters have explained that SPY in this context doesn't refer to any form of undercover duties or espionage, some people will still come and type rubbish. Take some time and read gaddamit.

TrumpDonald:
Well i think there is more to this. Some are of d opinion DAT he was sack due to incompetence while some because he admitted dat d attack was carried out by Fulani herdsmen.

Looking at d first reason, I ask if other commissioners of police in other affected states were sacked?
But d second reason is more tenable. This govt doesn't want to admit d truth and d commissioner's confirmation is not in line with the govt.
To this best of my knowledge, none of the other CP's denied that it was Fulani herdsmen that were responsible for the attacks in their states. This Enugu CP is the only one who tried to paper over the obvious. That is clear incompetence.

I believe he was sacked because he came out to announce that Fulani herdsmen were responsible for the hideous act. Why has the CP of Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba, Delta and others not sacked?

Yeye dey smell
Did any of the CP's in the states you mentioned deny that the attack was by Fulani herdsmen? Did any of them claim that the attack was fighting by touts and cultists? Did you even stop to think that he may have been sacked for denying the obvious in the first place?

You know Nigerians don't like to queue, at least not when they are in Nigeria. But this is how they will queue at border control in America and will not complain. In fact scratch that, this is how they will queue at the embassy for visa without minding.

Its a normal thing to ask....

Most states even have commissioners Quarters.

They are ministers of the FRN.
Common small companies in Nigeria like intels staff are given accommodation....PMB should please arrange accommodation for these guys...
Of course it's a normal thing in Nigeria. It's also a normal thing to steal public funds and get away with it while the masses starve. N4 million accommodation is just not good enough for ministers of the FRN, right? It has to be 20 million.

Please, when one of those "small companies" give you a job and offer you a 4 million naira apartment, refuse it and insist on a 20 million naira one.

Personally, I am not interested in what the President has to say. I'm more interested in what actions his government will take. I don't need another President that will come and be telling us after every tragedy that the "perpetrators will be brought to book". I just want to see necessary action taken to end this senseless killings.

With all due respect, I think you are the one getting his point wrong. Different people fight for different causes they hold dearly. There are animal rights activists who will shout loudly to the heavens about one dog that was killed/harmed but may not say anything other than RIP even if ten people are killed. Maybe Oby is more passionate about abducted girls. Must she be the one to champion every cause. Reno's tweet is petty at the most.

Honestly, I've always been a very patriotic Nigerian, but it seems like I'm giving up on the people of this country... Not because I don't love the country, but because of the people I have to call compatriots (fellow Nigerians).
Nigeria is not the problem, Nigerians are the problem. A people who love trivial things over simple common sense, ...a people who carry religious and tribal sentiments and bias over common sense and patriotism,.....a people who prefer to be superstitious even when simple logical reasoning is required,...a people who prefer political party affiliations to national patriotism, ...a people that can be so easily impressed by bvllshit and very simple things. Man, it's depressing.

I love Nigeria and I always wish and pray we get our acts right, utilize common sense and start thinking about progressive things like advanced technology, military superiority, economic superiority, advanced medicine and science, advanced arts etc but instead, my people prefer to think and fight over stupid things like 'tribe', or fighting over religious bias. God is good and I'm sure God wants us to impress Him by doing great stuff using our common sense, why do we have to become either Muslim or Christian fanatics? Did God ask us to hate each other and fight or kill each other for Him? No!

Ask the average Nigerian if he thinks about and wishes Nigeria would become a really great country, and I bet you every Nigerian wants that, but then the same people that want these advancements are the same people thinking about and engaging in daft and low-life things like tribal bias, religious bias, political party fanatism etc.
When good people come around to start doing great things in Nigeria, we would insult them, castigate them, judge them and turn against them...tell me then, who is going to do the great work we all wish for so that the country would grow and advance?
Oh boy, I love Nigeria forever, but I tire for Nigerians....our mentality NEEDS to change!
Bro, I'm with you on that boat. Nigeria is not the problem despite what some people want us to believe. The real problem is the people. Nigerians and their mentality. And you can split this country into 250 tribes, yet nothing will change until we change this backward mentality.

@Administer,

You are most amateurish for not understanding that APC is more or less PDP by membership.

Methinks, no other Nigerian may be qualified enough to be your choice of Nigerian president unless a Hausa/Fulani.

@ By the way, OP, why Ribadu/Iwealla and not Iwealla/Ribadu?

Is Ribadu in any way more qualified than Iwealla?

Or you have swallowed the bitter pill that mediocrity must come before merit in choice of Nigeria's leaders? The same way you chose Buhari before others?

Or that you have swallowed the bitter pill that Hausa/Fulani is more of a Nigerian citizen than any person from the rest of Nigeria?

Yar'Adua ruled, then Buhari. How many times must a northerner govern you before another person from the south of Nigeria?
Funny. Last time I checked, of the 17 years of democracy we have had since 1999, Southerners have ruled for 13 years (OBJ-8, GEJ-5) while Northerners have only had 4 years (Yar Adua-3, PMB-1).

Has it become that easy to bag First Class these day?

During my time only 3 people had first class in the whole of the graduating set.
Education is not supposed to be made a burden for students. Bagging a first class degree is quite possible if your work towards it. It's just that in this country, lecturers like to take pride in students failing their courses or scoring low grades when in reality, the university should probably query your teaching methods and capability if most of your students keep failing your course or consistently score low grades.

As with many other things in this country, we like to make life difficult for the next man just so we can have a sense of being better than him. I have a friend who graduated from a state university with a 3rd class. Then he went to the US, did a post-graduate programme and today has a PhD. Yet some dumb lecturers almost made him feel he had a dull brain.

We should probably thank the Private Universities for the bolded. Our public universities have now realized that taking pride in not "giving" out first class degrees even when a student is deserving is not good for their image. Education doesn't have to be made difficult for students just to prove some mute point.

I have a problem with the Chinese they always comprise standards. My organisation embarked on a project worth half a billion naira with the Chinese these guys refused to transfer the technical know how to us. Language was a serious barrier and they feel u are drawing them back when u trying to understand what they are doing. After less than a year, the project has started falling apart and we are struggling to keep it going. They will come and take our jobs, no Nigerian engineer was involved in this project, they just used Nigerians as menial workers, breakig , digging, packing and so on so there was no transfer of knowledge. They rushed the job and rushed out leaving us with problems. I am very skeptical about them
Did you guys consider learning Chinese before bringing them in? Nobody is going to transfer their technical know how to you just like that. You have to be smart. Look, listen and learn. How do you think the Japanese and the Chinese learnt from western technology? They select their brightest brains and teach them languages necessary for them to learn quietly. I recently saw a video of a Chines guy speaking Hausa on a plane. That's how they roll.

Nigerians are very funny people. People without a bargaining chip are still forming boss. Why won't China benefit the most from this deal. What do we have to bring to the table? Crude Oil? What do we manufacture? Of course we are bargaining from a disadvantaged position. Do beggars have a choice? We laundered away our future through the years and now we are forming boss in the midst of our position of lack. Basic infrastructure like power, roads, a good rail network that covers our vast land we cannot boast of in 2016. Yet we are acting like we are coming to the table with the Chinese as equals. I dey laugh.

We better do our best to learn as much as we can from the Chinese and ensure that we develop our infrastructure and our economy now so that a few years from now we won't have to go to them again begging for another loan to do the same things all over again as has always been the trend in the past. But to think we are sitting at the table with the Chinese to bargain as equals is just an illusion, Let us face reality, we and dem no be mates. We are apprentices, and they are the Masters. Hopefully, we will apply sense and ensure that we get our "freedom" quickly or forever remain in servitude.

@jpphilips you really have said it the way it is. We have already squandered our future away in the past. Hopefully, we can retrace our steps.

Thankfully, a few people here still have brains. ICC visits Nigeria and all of a suddenly the majority on this thread assume that it is all about human rights violations carried out during the present administration. Some people obviously don't know how long our list of human rights violation is from the days of the invasion of Odi and Zaki Biam to this present day (and I didn't even mention the military era). If in doubt, just ask Transparency International. No one knows where the axe might fall, if it eventually does? OBJ? GEJ? PMB? IBB? Who knows? Yet some folks are here getting ahead of themselves. I dey laugh.

I'm not an economist or a financial analyst but lemme ask u a simple question...youve got 100,000 naira and your house rent is due likewise your house rent,ur kid's school fees, insurance (in this case let's assume it's available in Nigeria) which of these problems will ypu solve first and why?
I have a fair idea of where you are going with your question, so I will cut to the chase. When people make comments of government prioritizing one thing over another we forget that each ministry of the government has a budget and allocations made to them. Doing one thing need not affect the progress of others. That the LASG is erecting streetlights doesn't mean they are not building roads as you implied. In fact, what I have noticed is that they have included streetlighting as part of road construction projects, so they build roads and install street lights on them immediately. If you go to places like the Ejigbo-Idimu road, or Ipaja-Ayobo road, those roads have been fixed recently with streetlights installed. That doesn't affect the budget for the ministry of health, or IPP projects, or other projects the state wants to embark upon as long as provisions have been made for them in the budget.

Now that I've breaked fown my reason into your numskull are u satisfied u slowpoke?

quote author=emerged01 post=44663115]
Age restriction should be put on nairaland. How can a human being reason this way? Imagine the kind of silly question he is asking. Must u comment?
Actually, your reason still doesn't add up. Having streetlights on our roads is also a form of security. More crimes are committed under the cloak of darkness. With streetlights some of these petty criminals who snatch bags and attack motorists would not be so daring. Also it makes driving more easier as your are able to see well ahead of you. If you have driven on that stretch of road at night when it is pitch dark you will understand. Even full lights sometimes does not help. First time I saw those street lights on, I said a prayer for those who thought to light it up after all these years. Add well lit streets to proper police presence and crime is definitely going to drop.

How does this improve the economy? A very secure city, state or country usually tends to experience economic growth as everyone likes to live in a safe environment and business activities too can thrive because people feel safe. And those market people who are rushing home are not likely to get robbed of their days earnings while stuck in traffic on a dark road. One of Canada's major selling points to immigrants is security.

The only thing I don't support is the fanfare of commissioning.

It is not surprising that these Senators can't even be on the same page. How will they when some sleep and doze through plenary or committee meetings, while some are busy calculating their allowances and how they will steal from our commonwealth without really focusing on issues that will better the lives of Nigerians. Some don't even attend sessions, so how will they know what was in the budget or not, or what was amended. What a shame.
