what developmental ar u talking about, the players ar good but the stupid coach is so clueless and very biased
This same "clueless coach" is the one who won the FIFA U17 World Cup for Nigeria in 2013. The one who gave us players like Iheanacho, Chidebere Nwakali, Taiwo Awoniyi. The same coach who has qualified us for another U17 World Cup. Stop getting unnecessarily emotional about U17 when serious countries are thinking of winning the senior World Cup.

PoliticsRe: "Our Railway Dream Will Remain A Dream" - Shehu Sani by dabossman(m): 9:33am On Apr 21, 2019
Rossikk:
Shehu Sani, use your head. Which ''all corners'' of the country did your ''colonial master'' build railways? For your information, the colonialists ONLY built north to south lines for the SOLE PURPOSE of evacuating our resources for export at the southern ports, which was the looting enterprise they were engaged in here.

Why would they need a loan to build them when they'd been looting your country for donkey years? Selling our exports and keeping the money in Britain.

So instead of IDOLIZING those ''colonial masters'', you, a so-called senator, should know better. That they were here to loot (which, afterall, is the raison d'etre for colonisation), and ought not be used as a barometer for anything positive in this country.
Succinctly put. It's a shame when people who you think should know better make the kind of statement coming from Shehu Sani. The guy fall my hand on this one.

zicoraads:
Because in Europe, they have a good transport system. Fast trains, boats, buses...they also have good roads.

If I lived outside Africa, I would hardly also fly. I don't like it. I've lost someone I really love via air crash so it's never something I look forward to.

But I also can't risk my life on a Nigeria road, nor have the patience to sit for that long.

I am not supporting what the guy said. Life doesn't work thay way. Just saying mine.
There is a difference between not liking or being uncomfortable with something and having a morbid fear of it. Aviophobia is a serious issue for some people. An NFL player once passed up an opportunity to meet with President Obama when the Steelers won the Super Bowl because he is afraid of flying. Some people who have no other option when traveling have to be sedated before they can fly. It's not as simple as you make it sound.

zicoraads:
I didn't say life has passed anyone by, if the person hasn't entered an airplane at 40, did I?

Entering a plane at 100 is still fine. Nothing there.

My problem is saying those who travel and use buses are 'living the life'. And trying to say those who fly, don't. What they pass through is torture. Let's face it, if most people had the means, they won't be caught sitting in a bus from Owerri to Lagos or from PH to Lagos or from Abuja to Benin.

Some of those who are preaching entering buses just can't afford it. That's the bitter truth.

I am one of those who also advise people to not rush life. Work hard. Work legitimately.

I also have fear of heights, as many people I have met flying. But if you have urgent business across hundreds of kilometres to attend to and have the means, everyone would have no choice.
Why limit your argument to Nigeria? There are people in Europe and America who would rather take a train or a bus to travel from one city to another; and it's not always because they can't afford to fly.

That said, even if one cannot afford to fly, it still doesn't. mean life has passed anyone by. The guy's assertion is a very myopic and uninformed.

Not everyone has a good health to stand for several minutes. Being on the queue doesn't necessarily mean being on standing for hours, it is just for you to know when it your turn with other attesting to your claim
Yes, I agree that for health reasons some might not be able to stand on the queue, but I've found out that with my country people that is often not the case. I've seen on many occasions where people stand away from the queue (not sit if sickly, but stand) fiddling with their phone or gisting with a friend. It's like they feel too big to join stay on the queue. There have also been instances when people even reserve spots on different queues at an ATM gallery waiting to see which one will get to their "turn" first. This is blatant bad behaviour.

As much as Nigerian soldiers are known for abusing powers, I've every feelings that there's more to this story. Maybe a statement the man made.

Because I've never in my life seen a soldier forcefully trying to withdraw on another person's turn. They'll always take permission to do so, and I'm sure many haven't seen a soldier intimidate someone in an ATM queue before.
From what I understand from the story, it seems the guy was not on the queue initially but was a space booker. One of those who come and tell you "please I'm behind you", then go and stand in one corner waiting for their turn.

It doesn't give the soldier any rights to beat him up, but that thing can be annoying. You'll be on yhe queue since, then someone will just show up and say "I was here before. Ask him now, I'm behind him"
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo: "Marriage Vows, For Better For Worse, Sickness And Health" Is A Curse by dabossman(m): 6:12pm On Mar 26, 2019
Ubenedictus:
What do u understand by the terM vow?
A vow is a solemn promise, simple and short. It is a pledge or commitment to do something. No need over-spiritualizing it. It is Iike saying the national pledge and meaning it. Like taking a oath in court and doing just that. It's like a doctor taking the Hippocratic oath or a politician being sworn into office.
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo: "Marriage Vows, For Better For Worse, Sickness And Health" Is A Curse by dabossman(m): 2:19pm On Mar 26, 2019
Cantonese:
Gone are the days people were blindly led by certain ministers of God through wrong interpretations. I just want to ask how long ago the minister got married. Judging by the ages of his children one can safely say he has been married for over 35 years. If it is so I am of the opinion that he took the "for better for worse" oath. His wife has remained with him through all.

If that is accepted I believe that his marriage has had its fair share of all forms of challenges.

Jesus clearly told us about challenges and truly as he said the life is full of challenges, especially in the Nigeria of today.

Prospective couples should not be put of or misled by certain statements credited to influencial ministers. Marriages are not designed "for riches and for good health" only. Even the very wealthy suffer incurable diseases. In the event of health challenges should the man or the woman walk away?

God help us please.
Even the Bishop's wife, Mrs. Faith Oyedepo battled with illness for some time before she got healed, and the Bishop didn't desert her. That is the essence of the vow.
Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo: "Marriage Vows, For Better For Worse, Sickness And Health" Is A Curse by dabossman(m): 2:17pm On Mar 26, 2019
HigherEd:
Hmm I u understand why ministers of the faith movement, the likes of Hagin, Oyedepo and Copeland would thoroughly hate that line because most believe the redemption package doesn't permit Christians to be sick or poor in the first place. But the reality is that many Christians live short of God's desire for their divine health and financial prosperity. And you don't want a situation where marriages collapse because of money or health issues.

Therefore, that line though Unscriptural was a necessary innovation from the medieval church to bring marriage partners into a vow bound by death. To ensure that no one jumps ship when things get low - which in many cases it does. In doing so, the church has removed the option of divorcing your partner for circumstantial reasons and reinforced that it would not be part to relationships inspired by benefits only.

My reservation is when major ministries abandon that line it would further weaken people's commitment to lifelong marital covenants.

The only evil the church has been culpable in is not encouraging victims of marital abuse to separate from their abusive spouses - something the church must work on.
God bless you for your brilliant summation. I guess the Bible verse that says "in this world you shall face many tribulations, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world is also a curse. I don't know where some Christians get off thinking they won't face challenges while here on earth.
