We are tired with dasukigate news afterall abacha stole zillions and his family members are walking freely. Corruption is not the only problem we have in Nigeria. Oga, what do you think they are doing in court? Playing tennis? It is prosecution in court that leads to being found innocent or guilty and not the other way round. Let the court do its job. That doesn't stop any of us from living our lives, neither does it stop the government from doing other things. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is This Biblically Right To Dance Break Dance And Do Stunt In Church? by dabossman(m): 4:23pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
twosquare: Not right.... Imagine Paul, John and Peter dancing breaking dance in front of the saints.... What talent are you talking about... If you want that, we have many hip hop, R&B singers that can accomplish that. Shame on the church of this generation if they can't offer another thing that differs from what the world offers... The experience we are meant to have is like the Lord descending on Mount Sinai.... Not anyhow programs, stunts, worldly importations and shameful imitation. Just imagine Paul, Peter and John using cellphones, the Internet, cars, wearing suits and rocking jeans or watching football and supporting Chelsea, Arsenal or Barcelona. Oh, wait, you can't imagine it because they didn't exist then abi? So, what makes them biblical today that you a Christian uses them or does these things? After all the world also uses this gadgets to watch porn and commit many sins. Do you watch Christian films. Are they not copying a worldly concept? David danced so hard that his unclothedness was almost exposed. I believe you know what happened to his wife who criticised him. Lastly, Google "traditional Jewish dances" and see how the Jews danced to praise God and see if you won't find elements of break dance in it. Whatever you do, do as unto the Lord. |

Boss13: It is good news in the short term. However, what is going to happen after the governor is gone? We should not kid ourselves about not knowing how our politicians work. Give me one government agency that is effectively managed in this country.
I like the idea but I don't understand why the governor should be the one building a rice mill with public funds, something some wealthy business men would gladly venture into if they consider the benefits offered by the government.
Anambra government would not only save money for essential services, but also have a rice mill which will generate employment for its youth While you have a point, you do not know the mid term or long term goals for the project. It is a good start. We can now ask questions about its future projections without seeming to write it off from the very start. |

GraceBestowed: Of course it works for some, but what if they wasted time waiting for a landmark season when they could have taken that step at any time. That's my point. :-) I get your point my sister. But even with regards to "wasting time", it still is relative where life is concerned. Some will discover themselves early.., some late. Some will have it easy, so must learn the hard way. Some can make changes in their life instantaneously and at any time. Some need the dawning reality that another year or season is here to realise that they need to make changes. I personally set 5-year goals and constantly reassess as I go along. But even that is a landmark of sorts. It is just not annual. |

musicwriter: In the same vein; asking people to contribute money doesn't mean money would be contributed. And saying "we will kill" doesn't mean anybody would be killed. You obviously don't get it or choose not to. Who are the dogs and baboons that will be soaked in blood? Which group of people does it refer to? Or was Buhari threatening the baboons in the jungle? The statement is too ambiguous to even be tagged as being a threat to anybody or government. Now compare it with the statements made by Nnamdi Kanu. You can get someone arrested or at least investigated for threatening to kill you, especially when he is openly requesting for a dangerous weapon. But if he says he will hurt you, could he mean he plans to snatch your girlfriend, or pour oil on your brand new white shirt. |
Politics › Re: Continuous Detention Of Nnamdi Kanu And Dasuki: Did FG Flout Any Law? by dabossman(m): 11:53am On Jan 01, 2016 |
musicwriter: This is the most biased thing you've ever posted on Nairaland.
What's more treasonable than the people who said they'll "make the country ungovernable", a threat made and carried out against Jonathan?. As far as you're concerned Buhari and co didn't commit treason?. Sleep is different from death. I want to hurt this guy is different from I want to kill this guy. There are many ways you can make a country ungovernable for a sitting government without resorting to violence. NUPENG, PENGASSON and other oil workers can do that by going on strike for a very long time, thereby crippling our mono economy. The NLC can do the same. Even the National Assembly can make the country ungovernable by frustrating every effort of the executive. Saying you will make the country ungovernable doesn't explicitly say anything. It is still a vague statement. The question that will be asked is how? Same goes for baboons and dogs. But when you explicitly ask people to contribute money to procure arms and ammunition to fight a sitting government and use words like "we will kill", what other interpretation can be alluded to that? |
Politics › Re: Continuous Detention Of Nnamdi Kanu And Dasuki: Did FG Flout Any Law? by dabossman(m): 11:24am On Jan 01, 2016 |
TonyeBarcanista: Radio Kudirat was promoting democracy calling for the illegal government of Abacha to step aside and handover to the elected MKO Abiola.
Radio Chanji: Honestly I didn't listen to their broadcast. Please you may enlighten me.
Parallel government statement was inciteful but treasonable? I don't think so. Most of those who were behind Radio Kudirat were on the run and would have faced prosecution and maybe even death at the time under the Abacha regime. They were not exactly strolling into town daring the government to arrest them and face the wrath of their followers. What Nnamdi Kanu is going through now is what they would have faced if they had been arrested then, if not worse. MKO was incarcerated for 4 years on charges of treasonable felony without trial. Anyone making these comparisons doesn't know history or is trying to distort it. |
