Clearly we are arguing two different things. You seem fixated on the one off event of an exceptional gain, while I am focused on the going concern of a business. Cheers.
Going concern my foot.
Below is the post that started the argument

Where do we get the money from?

There is a reason communism has never worked in practice
We get it from highly taxing things mostly used by the rich and our corrupt, thieving, lying, politicians - uncle BAT being typical example.
About communism, well, Nigeria is not richer than Russia or China!
Nairaland General › Re: Are We Being Honest Or Hypocritical With Ourselves On This Fuel Subsidy Issue? # by DaddyCoool(f):

I agree with your concern.

However, we can't continue to use another wrong to cushion the effect of one wrong.

It's not a situation with easy answers but the removal is a move into he right direction.
Let's say instead of removing subsidy, we add more subsidies - we subsidize everything common folks use while raising taxes on everything the rich use. What do you think will happen?

Does he exist just to make a one off profit and then retire for ever? Won't the business continue? Won't he require cash to buy again. This your lack of understanding off accounting concepts like solvency, liquidity, working capital etc is why many businesses in Nigeria die quickly.

If I sell to everybody on credit, technically I'm profitable, but if I then can't pay someone else I am owing because my money is tied up with other people, I can be sued and declared bankrupt and my busines wound up.

That's the difference between cash flow and profitability for you!
You are confusing yourself.
Here's an anology that won't confuse you:
Say your poor mammy went to the market to sell 2 chickens she bought for N20 each hoping to make a N5 profit. But on getting to the market she found chicken was now N1M.
So she sold and made a profit of almost 2milion - automatically making her the richest person in the village.
The fact that she has to go back to buy chicken at N1M for resale, will that in ANY WAY change the fact that she is now the richest person in town??
Mumu!
Same mumuism applies to this guy below

TheMostComplex1:
You didn't understand him. A case at hand was when the $ was going up almost everyday , the prices of goods were going up too. So if a trader buys like a bag of rice for 50k & sells at 55k , on getting to the market the next day to restock the product the price has risen to 55k. So it's as if he didn't make profit that's what he was trying to say. Because the trader cannot spend the 5k profit and if he does he would not be able to restock.

COMPAQ:
Maybe you are a bit of a mumu too!

The point that is being made is that if the guy refused to increase his price and sold at N4 on the basis of not cashing out as you people call it, where would the N8 to buy new stock even come from, if the guy has only N4 in the bank after selling his old stock?

There is a difference between solvency and profitability. And solvency is actually more important. Because unless you can pay your bills, you may not even stay in business long enough to make profit.
Hard to believe someone is reasoning like this.
WHO said anything about them selling for N4?? The thread is about them making a killing. And some mumu said they're not making a killing because they'll use the money to buy at a higher price.
How did selling at the old price enter the conversation ??

Well, English language doesn't work that way. You don't make up your own meanings. Double dating doesn't mean two-timing or open relationship AND open relationship doesn't mean double dating or two-timing. They all mean different things.
What's with "ass lickers"?

There is no such thing as am in relationship playing the loyalty game for long my sister
Congrats Bimps. I can tell this is from the heart - real life experience.
And I totally agree with you by the way - I've never understood why people can't see it is better and more fun to have an open relationship! As long as you don't rub it in the other person's face.

As an aside, I find it funny that no one has pointed out that in English language, the term "double dating" does not mean what you folks think it means. See below

try to understand. they sold at higher price. 225 to 515 In my area. the marketers 'll buy New product at higher rate also.
What has new product got to do with the profit they ALREADY made?? How u folks reason eh. Someone made N1B on a trade he just completed, he can decide to do WHATEVER he wishes with the money. Is there any law that says he must buy new product or what amount? It is his money. Full stop!

So after selling old stock at old rate where will the fund to restock at new rate come from?
Nobody can be this mumu. Let me simplify it for you:

We bought at N3, we were selling at 4 but now we are suddenly selling same at 10, tripling our profit. That's money in the bank! If we decide to continue after selling out, we'd be like any other person just entering the market - we'd buy at the new price of 8 and sell at 10! How does that affect the profit we made when we bought at 3 and sold at 10??!!

So how do you chasten a stubborn child who keeps doing the same thing no matter what you do. See what the Bible says below.
Not only that, adults who say they were stubborn as children credit corporal punishment as part of what straightened them out, not reasoning with them!

Family › Re: My Mom Says Ion Get Bichs by DaddyCoool(f): 3:09pm On Jun 03, 2023
Mom's wrong. Reason is low self-esteem. Sit yourself down and tell yourself that you are somebody, and any girl would be lucky to have you and remind yourself of your talents and good qualities. Intentionally internally praise yourself till you feel you are all that! See yourself that way, carry yourself that way and live your life that way. Go for the very best because you deserve the very best. We are worth what we THINK we are worth. It's not from what we have or anything, it is entirely in how we think - that's what determines our worth!

I know the media can be used for propaganda but this have gone beyond that. This is crazy.

They just dish out figures to deceive the gullible.

The moment microphone was given to bulaba was when subsidy died.

Even importers still have to now pay triple for their next supply, same with retailers.
What do you mean. The figures are RIGHT. We are selling at new rate what we purchased at old rate

Mumu thinking. We won't vomit anything. This is money safely in our pockets. Anything we buy going forward we'll simply sell at normal profit.
