PoliticsRe: OPC Pulls Out Of NNPC Pipeline Surveillance by DaGC(m): 9:13pm On Jun 15, 2015
Nigeria is a truly complicated country.

When the pipelines were being protected by the said 'security agencies', Nigeria was losing millions of barrels. Even with the private security contractors, we are still losing 400,000 barrels daily.

What's the way forward?

Even if the money they stole no reach 100 trillion, the main koko is that they stole money , the money these ministers thief, ur entire villagers go get 200million naira each if den share am , some of u guys no even want make naija move forward , alway taking sides with criminal,
Before you get your panties up in a bunch, I'm all for moving Nigeria forward.

You are now beginning to sound like mr Gbagi himself by saying the money will provide N200m each for my people. Do you even know the population of my people? Talk with sense sometimes.

What you should have asked about is the name of the ministers and why a man like Gbagi, whose hands are not even clean is coming out to say this now? What happened to his mouth before?

I hate allegations. Bring proof and watch as things fall into place. I repeat quoting a N100trillion has already made the report silly.

An assassin can take a life and he gets paid and its legal just cos govt is paying. What makes an action legal is it when govt pays or when d action is carried out according 2 laid down procedures? What legal framework in d land justifies tompolos 4000 fighters? If u then agree that d navy should b improved is by giving tompolo N1.5b monthly and giving him d functions of d navy that d navy will b improved? Will d said money not have improved d navy? Let's begin 2c things 4 what they are so that majority can benefit not just a few
Your like was also the reason why I commented. Be objective. I never told you I supported this. My comment on this thread was because I saw a lot of hate comments as if it was illegal for government to give contracts to PMC. At least you can prove that it doesn't make their armed forces irrelevant.

I also wanted people without knowledge of the creeks to stop saying that they are not helping anybody, because its a lie. Some of these prominent Niger deltans help a lot of their people. Even if you forget the fighters, he has people working for him in conpanies he holds interests in.

I also gave an opinion as to why he was given the contract because I remember back then when the Navy used to complain of not being able to chase or locate the militants because the creeks are not just open sea, and that its difficult for them to carry out their duties.

Bro, I may not have benefited from this, I may be against it, but I wont deny the truth just to get my point across.
PoliticsRe: NIMASA Pays Tompolo N1.5bn Monthly – Ex-chairman by DaGC(m): 9:19am On Jun 03, 2015
lexy2014:
there are no private armies around d world. In d US were they have private military contractors(PMC), there are laws that back and regulate their operations. Same in SA. Do u have such in nigeria? Wherever u have a group of men as u said "fighters" roaming around without any law backing and regulating their operations, they are refered 2 as outlaws. U mentioned 4000 "employed figters". U didn't answer d question, is being a fighter 4 tompolo a legal job? Should we then scrap our navy since according 2u they have been found wanting?
Question 1: In Nigeria, it is since they are getting paid by the government.

Question 2: No, we should not. We should improve the Navy.

I rest my case.
PoliticsRe: NIMASA Pays Tompolo N1.5bn Monthly – Ex-chairman by DaGC(m): 8:57am On Jun 03, 2015
lexy2014:
so fighting 4 tompolo is now a job? With your analysis isn't it better we scrap d nigerian navy?
I may be an advocate for non-violence, but these guys get paid, and employment involves carrying out a deed for wages. Its not just fighters, there are cooks, cleaners, doctors, media staff, administrative etc.

I'm sure you have heard of private armies around the world. Are those countries armed forces scrapped?
Even the great United States used private militaries in Iraq. Does that make their armed forces weak or irrelevant?.

My grouse on the topic is that government giving contracts to private firms is not strange or unheard of like so many people will want to believe.

Didn't see where he told Mr Bruce to shut up angry

Well, Mark is right about the budget, earnings and salaries of the senate being public. Nigerians already know thanks to the FOI bill.

I think Mr Bruce means well but I'll wait till he gets sworn in before making any rational judgement.

PoliticsRe: NIMASA Pays Tompolo N1.5bn Monthly – Ex-chairman by DaGC(m): 7:22am On Jun 03, 2015
I think what should be taken into consideration here is whether there was an improvement compared to before the country. Some of you lots make noise forgetting that the navy do not know the routes of most creeks in the Niger Delta. That was why it was hard for them to stop the militancy actions back then making the government to negotiate considering how much Nigeria was losing daily. Sure, it seems N1.5B is big but people also seem to forget that the contract encompasses security and surveillance in over 4states, so think of the resources required.

And to the re.tards who are always quick to say some of these people dont help any Niger Deltans should also know that there are over 4000 fighters under Tompolo alone, thats employment for 4,000 people, plus these contracts also require other Niger delta labour. Not even gonna talk of the companies owned by other prominent Niger Deltans.

That the empowerment didn't get to you, doesn't mean they don't empower people.

I expected people to counter what he said with facts or proof, and criticize objectively. Sadly, many didn't read and result to name calling as usual.

I believe many Nigerians expected him to feed them. Since they said he's to be blamed for many Nigerians living in poverty.

Even more happy than the frustrated re.tards who are always quick to result to insults instead of objective criticism.

I'm glad the transition went smoothly.

Well, some things that will never change include:
1) Ruling from a minority.
2) Forever being an ex president with benefits and all entitlements.
3) Being a hero to some and a villain to some
PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole's Baseless Diatribe Against Okonjo-Iweala by DaGC(m): 5:20pm On May 28, 2015
Well, the challenge is now there. Go transparent and public or keep shut.

If not that the present administration came out openly about the costs of running their govt or projects, Nigerians wouldn't have had much to criticize on.

If it was before, as is still the case in some states, we only see commissioning, unveiling or proposal of projects without knowing the actual cost of it.
PoliticsRe: ‘don’t Do This’ – PDP Chieftain Begs Buhari Ahead Of Inauguration by DaGC(m):
GEJ is not saying don't probe me. Just don't probe me alone. The 'leaks' as alleged did not start in his administration.

I understand Mr Lionel's reason for panic considering the power the Niger Delta holds in Nigerian revenue, but the probe decision rests with the President-elect. Its his call.

God bless the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: BIAFRA IS TREASONABLE by DaGC(m): 12:34pm On May 28, 2015
In as much as I want a peaceful and united Nigeria, you cant help but say Nigeria is complicated. Its just somehow *dont know what word to use*.

I still hope for a peaceful and united country though.

Also, the blame game needs to stop. Jonathan did not make Nigeria this way. Nigeria is Nigeria. Some people make it seem like before Jonathan Nigeria was England, with quality healthcare, stable electricity, world class infrastructures, no strikes or scarcity etc. Every leader since the birth of this nation contributed in one way or another to its downfall, and yes, including the President-elect.

Lets just hope for a better Nigeria.

Just imagine if we had about $70 billion in our foreign reserves and ECA!

Unfortunately, Jona and his crew wasted the golden era in our nation's history.

Time for baba to diversify the economy big time.
I was waiting for someone to post something like this.
Since that the reserves were there, what diversification happened in the economy?

What happened was inevitable. Could have even happened in GMB's tenure. We depended solely on 1 thing. Its simple economics. Dont put all your eggs in 1 basket.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria May Lose N985b In Oil Revenue This Year -pwc by DaGC(m): 11:50am On May 28, 2015
Hopefully, we can get other high revenue generating policies and industries to fall back on soonest. Oil has played its part in the development of Nigeria. It might still be the most important, but shouldn't be so by such a wide margin.
