Not religion, ethnic homeland. However, those that take up residence in area other than their traditional homeland should still be allowed to stay. |
I am not planning on opening a business anytime soon. I mean in a Decade or so. Hopefully by then power would have been stabilized. Hmm, millions of people looking for work = Cheap labor for manufacturing. ![]() And by then it would be too expensive to manufacture goods in China. |
Maki, the Niger-Deltan states are getting money too. Why do you not pressure the local government and state government to use the money more effectively. Why do you not lobby your senators and members of the house to enact stronger legislation against oil companies that pollute? And I do intend to return back to Nigeria. Just not yet. I need to get my college degree and raise capital so I can start up businesses. I doubt the businesses would be in the Niger-Delta, but you never know. ![]() |
It is not your resources. Just because it is around land that was traditionally controlled by Ijaw/{insert other Niger-Deltan people} people does not mean it belongs to your. Clearly your people are not in ownership of the land or it would be illegal for the oil companies to drill in it without your permission. So, if it the oil land that you want, pick up arms and declare a bloody civil war. Enough of all this "self determination" talk. What it looks like is those in the Niger-Delta that want to be sovereign are too chicken to come out and say it. Talk is cheap. If you are not willing to work within the system (by dialogue) pick up arms and be prepared to die for territories that traditionally belonged to {insert Niger-Delta} group. But in all honestly, if the Igbos couldn't break away from Nigeria, I highly doubt that small independent groups that up till now most people in Nigeria didn't even know existed would succeed. |
spikedcylinder, excellent post. That is what I have been trying to tell these people for close to a week now. This over-reliance on God makes it impossible to actually come up with valid solution to problems. |
Well, it would be awkward. I will lose my temper but I will definitely be getting a divorce. |
No I do not prefer to "chase shadows". I want the government to impose a state of emagency in all the States that MEND is opperating in and put an end to the madness. And it is not being ignorant to suspect that MEND is behind this, especially after all the trouble they have caused in the last couple of weeks. |
Sorry, I am having trouble understanding your question. Ask the question again. Thanks |
incantations of sorcery? Jagunlabi, Drugs are bad. |
Well, if I were Christian, I would shoot myself in shame. So, I won't actually get to the position of choosing between a Muslim or White Garment partner. |
I have no idea. Personally, I am not interested in getting married. I would rather not waste resources on things that have no clear benefit. |
OBJ isn't eating your money. You should do some research on how a federal system of government works. As for me, I am ok with where I am now, but I will still like to return back home in a decade to open up a couple of businesses. Being rich in Nigeria is definately better than being a middle/working class in America. |
Ono, what do you want Obasonja to do about the Niger-Delta problem? You do know that he couldn't raise the 13 percent oil allocation to 50 percent even if he wanted. The power to budget and raise revenue is controlled by the National Assembly. Hence, lobby the National Assembly for what you want, do not go around destroying and harming innocent civilians. It is not like the Senators and House Reps in the North, South West and South East give a damn how many innocent people you kill in the name of self determination. It is up to you guys to make the case to the National Assembly that the current allocation of 13 percent is not enough considering the environmental damage that is being caused by the drilling oil. It is up to you to show the general public that while you are making proper use of the current funds (e.g. new roads/schools e.t.c.) you still have a lower standard of living than the rest of the nation. Under a democratic system of government, the smart and most efficient rule. I read in another post how the federal government has spent countless millions of Dollars building roads in the South West. Well, Do you not have Senators and members of representatives from the south-south? In Nigeria, the National Assembly is allowed to attach spending amendments that are of benefit to their constituents. Why are the Niger-Deltan members of the National Assembly not on TV daily requesting for government funds for new roads, schools, and hospitals? Honestly, the problem of the Niger-Delta appears to be one of failure of leadership. The leaders from those States are either not qualified, or dedicated enough to carry out their responsibilities. It might be time that you stop looking for Mr. Charming to rule you, and instead look for sensible people that are armed with Degrees in Finance, Accounting, Economic e.t.c and know a thing or two about public speaking. Remember, just because he is a "Local man" doesn't mean he knows what he is talking about. |
I set religous books on fire. The feeling of satisfaction after defiling the supposed works of God is the ultimate "high". ![]() |
oooo, gimmie ma mark. On my the fore head please! On a serious note, I see the mark on the heads of people already. It says "Please save me from my own stupidity". I am not going to point fingers at those that have these marks, but lets just say they number in at over 2 billion. ![]() |
These people must be stopped. They would do just about anything to spread their madness. No, there is no such thing as "speaking in tongues". You would be suprised what people are willing to do to get attention. ![]() |
I have an idea, maybe if people prayed less for "God's intervention" and actually put pressure on the Niger-Deltan people, the issue would be resolved peacefully. Enough of this defeatist attitude. |
First of all, I never said the Niger-Delta people should be exterminated. I said that hoodlums that are causing trouble should be dealt with. Now, as far as I can tell, there are only a hand full of "Youths" (more like Armed robbers and Degenerates) that are causing the instability in the delta. Also, even if the oil wealth was to be given to these aggressive breed of area boys, what are they going to do with it? Honestly, what are they going to do with it? Do you really think that possessing oil money is enough to build a successful society? For all I know, the education level of the area is not that high for them to make sufficient use of their resources. I even remember reading that the oil companies have to recruit people from other southern States to fill the brain-drain that they are experiencing in the area. And I actually believe this statement, when the people are not asking their States and Local Governments to lobby the National Assembly and the Executive branch to ensure that the oil companies are held accountable for environmental destruction. Instead, all I see is people whining about "self determination" when they are not making proper use of what they have allocated to them. Face it, the Niger-Deltans are there own enemies. Aren't these the same people that were celebrating the return of Ex Governor Adellesina (Bad spelling, sue me!) after he stole millions of dollars from the State? Stop looking around to find out who your true enemies are. All you need to do is look at the Local Government and State Government officials that feel that you are too stupid to hold them accountable for their theft. |
First of all, my responce was not foul. And if you are some how implying that the cause of my "temporary paralysis" is the work of mythical demons that wage battle against an all powerful God, then I have some ocean front property in Kaduna that you might be interested in buying. ![]() |
Acting, as in humillitating the State. I won't have a problem with MEND if they acted when it was called for. Under the days of Abacha, I didn't see a lot of acting going on from these degenerates. But when there is a civilized Government in place, they take advantage of it. If the Federal government does not crack-down, this would just pave the way for all sorts of "actors" to destroy the State. (Not exactly sure it would be a bad thing) |
Ofcoure more than 80 percent of the people in the grave did not die by a gun. Its no secret that most people die from disease than they die from physical harm. That alone does not point to there being some kind of God. I swear its like your parents did an awesome job getting you believe all this sorts of things. The only thing I have faith in is human stupidity. (Iseeu) ![]() |
Ono, people like you that incite and promote the loser low-lives thugs in the Niger-Delta to cause trouble should be dealt with. There are laws against what you are doing. Heck, it might fall under treason which is punishable by death. I sure would hate for you to end up on trial for not watching your tongue, my friend. ![]() |
Sure, oppose the third term. Then pray to God when a thief is elected and he uses the armed forces as a national death squad to put an end to all his opponents. You would think after so many years of bad leadership that the average Nigerian would be able to recognize good qualities in a leader. I guess the lesson has yet to be learnt. I will check back on the well being of the State in 20 years. ![]() |
A lot of people are suffering, but there is no evidence to suggest that the Niger-Deltans are suffering any more than other parts of the country. Also, it is not like they just began suffering. They sufferened under Abacha and before that. Why didnt they launch there attacks when the rest of the world was watching Nigeria under the rule of a despot. Now that we have a Democratic government and things are getting better, is not the time to cause trouble. |
I was in Nigeria recently, and the vast majority of roads and projects that were being carried out in Lagos was being handed out by the State government and Local governments. My older brother is a contracter and thats were he gets all his contracts in the State. When it comes to things like Armed forces and even Police departments to some extent, the Federal Government is in control. However, most of the development spending (roads, water e.t.c.) is carried out by the State and Local governments. And while there are separatist elements in the country, you won't be going far with out some support of the armed forces (which is controlled by the Fed). |
The Federal Government represents all Nigerians. Do not expect equal representation under a democratic government when the Niger-Deltan people combined only account for 10 percent or less of the nations population. |
I experience temporary paralysis about once every month or two. (unable to move my body. I can still move my eyes when it happens). It was scary the first few times it happened, but if you remain calm and focus on moving your fingers (easier to move than your whole body) the effects would wear off within a minute or 2. I won't recommend that you jump to the conclusion that this is a spiritual attack, because it only happens when I am really tired. Kinda like having your body fall asleep, leaving only your mind and eyes awake. Now, its a pleasant suprise every time I become temporarily paralyzed. It gives you a few minutes to think and wait in excitment about your soon to be available ability to move again! ![]() If I had to guess, I would say its some sort of nerve malfunction that blocks your brain from sending information to the rest of your body. ![]() As for the if it the work of the Devil or whatever, I would have to believe in that sort of thing for that to even become an option. |
I wish I could have Suya, but I gave up eating meat about 2 years ago. ![]() |
The Federal Government needs to send in the troops before they begin any economic development projects. If you start building roads before you have crushed the degenerates you would only send the message that anyone that is not satisfied with the current situation of the the country should go out in search of foreigners to kill. And I was planning to return back home in about 10 years to open some manufacturing plants, but with all this instability, I might have to wait for at least 20 years for things to settle down. |
I like Lagos. Of course, you have to go to the right parts of the city, but that is the same for just about anywhere. |
Assassination of foreigners is one sure way to commit economic suicide in a developing nation. Keep up MEND and co. at this rate, you and your degenerates would starve to death in the comming years. |
