Thank you for your response . Please just to be clear again my visa expiration will be 2 years in Jun 2022 but I will be applying for IW dis month for a date in July 2022. So my question is since am applying now and not after Jun 2022 when it reaches the 2 years . If I will still qualify.

Depends on the Province that your dad is going to but there are no available dates currently in Calgary(Alberta) while earliest available date is like March 2023 in other provinces. It may change in the coming weeks or months though (also depends on how long he’s staying in Canada).

As per getting a slot before he leaves Nigeria, it’s a possibility. I think they may release dates for March in the coming days, keep checking.

My brother (Nigerian citizen) will Wed his fiancee (American citizen) sometime in December 2022 and I, my three sisters, and my parents wish to attend the wedding in the US. A friend informed me that the closest available date we can secure for a B1/B2 visa is mid 2024. Is it possible to secure any sooner date (perhaps sometime before December 2022) considering that the reason for our visit will happen in December 2022?
Is there any provision made by the US embassy to assist people in our shoes?

He can pay for just his mum...and try to book an IW appointment for her alone...He doesn't have to cancel till then...

I think you should keep the appointment date for them both for now cos no dates for IW yet.

Feedback: I reported earlier that our IW application was still showing “administrative processing” on the portal while my son’s was showing “Refused”.
I just got a notification from the Embassy to schedule a follow up appointment; I clicked on it and it gave a Tuesday next week date, for only my son. It looks like the delay is for him to be “tenprinted”…he turned 14 last year.
Any good news today? Interview waiver appointment or Issued visas?

Not entirely a denial. My son’s status says “refused” while those of mine and his siblings say “administrative processing”. I called the embassy this morning and they told me…to wait for any message for them…he just turned 14 and may be required to come to the embassy for biometric (fingerprints)…

So until the final message on pick up etc…you can’t conclude.

They may likely invite the applicant for an interview before a final decision. Watch out for any correspondence from the consulate in the next few days

You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete.

You have to cancel your existing appointment before booking the IW appointment. No, you don’t have to make a new payment for now…

I have an appointment date for next year and I want to apply for IW. My question is do I have to cancel the appointment I have now and reschedule or I will have to choose the reschedule to apply for IW. Also in any case either cancel or reschedule do I have to pay again.

It’s been shared here recently: DS 160 confirmation page, appointment letter, international passport (including the one with your last US visa), one passport photo, GTB receipt for visa fee payment…

Goodmorning, just to update everyone that I tracked the status of my visa and it showed as ‘issued’ this morning but was updated yesterday. I submitted Friday 8am. This means it took just about 3 days. Guess the 2 months was just to manage expectations.

All the best to everyone awaiting a decision or searching for an IW date.

You need a letter from an employer in USA saying if you don't travel urgently, they will suffer significant business loss.

Was there any documentation requirement to justify this excuse? I used to think only medical emergencies or students’ resumption will be accepted as excuses under EA

They need to sight the passport with your last visa to confirm if you meet the IW visa expiry condition…

Almost everything went wrong today. I applied for emergency appointment yesterday. Within few hours they approved it and scheduled me for today. Less than 24hrs. I thought I would print confirmation later at night. My printer packed up. left home by 6am for 9.15am appointment, everywhere was blocked. I arrived late around 9.40. When they calculated the cost of the printing they said 33k. 3k per page. I gave them 12k.
Now the interview, I was just hearing denial right left and centre. I just zero my mind. My interview took a lot of time. To God be the glory, I got the visa .I appreciate the lady VO too. She was thorough with me but still very friendly.

I think @pavoda concern is the “administrative review” that was sighted when it was tracked online. That should give cause for concern, though…

But just be patient…it’s still early. The review will still Favour you…
