You people should be calming down nah…

What you see is what it is…

HopefulAngel:
Please if your dashboard shows you "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate" after several days of submission, does this mean it hasn't been processed or it has?. P.S: this is the first time i'm tracking it.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 3:00pm On Apr 06, 2022
It depends…

The usual progression is from “application received” to “administrative processing” and then “refused” or “issued”…however, if the issue they have with an application is fundamental e.g. no biometric on record, old passport photograph etc…you may likely see “refused” immediately after “application received”

BizErikah:
People that got refused when they tracked their application,

Was it from Application Recieved - Refused?
OR
Application Recieved- Administrative Processing - Refused

I am wondering if it could be passport issues??

I'll appreciate your response
Thanks in advance

April 26 will make her ineligible by 2 days. You can talk to the consulate if there’s a window to accommodate ‘tightly close’ dates like hers..:

akin3102:
Hi Gurus,
My Mom US Visa expired back in April 24, 2020 with makes her eligible for Interview Waiver. I could not secure any appointment date before April 24 so I scheduled her appointment for April 26 in Abuja.
Does her application still qualify for IW since her scheduled appointment is after April 24 (that would make her visa expiration more than 2 years)? I have called customer service multiple times for clarification but could not get hold of anyone.
I'm seeing earlier date like April 5, 6 and 8 in Abuja but that's too close since her document is in Lagos. I would have preferred Lagos but there is no date in Lagos yet.
Secondly, can anyone who is not a relative submit the documents for her since she is old and would not be able to travel to Abuja for the submission?

Keep calm…it’ll be updated soonest…

Dmj1881:
Really appreciate everyone here.

I submitted my passport since 23rd March but status still reading Application received.
Never over stayed or any issue. I know the duration is 2 months but..... anyone with a similar case?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 12:56pm On Apr 04, 2022
I’ve not heard anyone without the option of a follow up appointment so far…

esdajo:
Update!

I got an email and a text from UPS that a parcel containing my passport is already on its way. Status remains "refused" on the NIV website when I tracked again this afternoon. For those who were outrightly refused without any advise for a follow up interview, was it "refused" or "denied" on the NIV website? Any input would be appreciated.

When people tell you things, try to do a little ‘Google exercise’…

meljoe:
Ok someone told me new applicants haven’t started yet just renewal , is that true please
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 7:02am On Apr 03, 2022
With the US consulate, bank statement doesn’t catch their fancy (except in rare cases especially for F1 visa)…you already qualified for an interview-waiver, so the documents won’t do much.
Just review your previous trips and be sure you have nothing strange that is unknown to you (Check the i94 again)…

Be ready to explain your reasons for this trip and plans you’ve made, if any.

Also confirm if your last visa is same as this fresh application (whether one was B1 and the other B2 etc)

lalasun:
Thanks @Dampops

Im female, never given birth in the US, never overstayed.
Do you think it's worth taking my bank statements and any other docs? Although they only asked that I bring a printed copy of the application form...

Thanks a lot for the helpful advice
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 9:07pm On Apr 02, 2022
Start with paying the visa fee…filling the DS 160 visa application form( https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/)…

before thinking of booking interview appointment…(https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/)

meljoe:
Please can you send me the link to get appointment please
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 5:18pm On Apr 02, 2022
It shouldn’t be an issue. Travel plans can change due to no fault of yours. What if you had to change your leave dates at work etc…Just avoid overstaying (stick to the duration you stated in the DS160 form).

Safe travels…

superchisom:
Please I will like to know if it's ok to travel b4 my intended date. I started in my ds160 form that I will be travelling on july 18th...I got my visa in march and i wish to travel in june...do you think I will have issues at the airport when I get to the us? Please any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 5:16pm On Apr 02, 2022
Yes, they have

meljoe:
Hello , please has USA started interview for new applicants ? My friend is interested please
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 5:15pm On Apr 02, 2022
Hello…
Just print the confirmation page alone… that’s all.

Since it’s an interview, you need to prepare for any questions relating to your previous visits. Look at the i94 portal to review your previous trips to the US…you need to anticipate what issues the VO had while reviewing your application.
Are you male/female? Did you give birth in the US? Any overstay previously ??

Best of luck on Thursday

lalasun:
Hi guys thanks so much for your helpful advice - @Damipops & @OAB & everyone

I got my passport back yesterday and like I said a couple of days back I was refused my b1/b2 IW visa application . In the slip in my passport no reason was given other that I have not successfully established my qualification for the visa applied for.

They asked that I go to the consulate any Thursday and bring a printed copy of my ds-160

I’ve looked and can’t find a copy to print, just the confirmation page.

Those in the know are there any other supporting documents I should take with me.

For context - I’ve never overstayed my visa, I’ve never been refused a U.S. Visa., I’ve never had a baby there either

what do I do?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 5:06am On Mar 31, 2022
It’s funny that you have all these details about your friend’s previous applications. One would think the person being referenced was you or your husband.

You didn’t mention anything about his wife (except I missed that part). On what visa is she going to the US for childbirth in November? Is she a citizen?

He can apply for the B1 visa to attend his business conference (no need for you to mention that ulterior motive he has-to witness the birth of his second child). He has to get an interview date and that will be a challenge. Interview dates available are for 2023. I wish him all the luck…

He can look for a conference in another country as a backup…

Kemo88:
Hello everyone,
A friend of mine was rejected a B1/B2 visa twice in 2015 and 2016… in 2015 he wanted to go for his wife’s graduation(his wife was in a masters program then) and in 2016 he decided to apply again for B1/B2 (for holiday ) but really because his wife was going back to the US to have a baby but was rejected both times.

His wife has been back in naija after the masters since 2015 (though she went to give birth In 2016 and returned). They have been working and doing fine.

Now this year he wants to go for a conference/poster presentation that would look good on his resume and help him get a promotion at work. The conference is in USA in November. Out of fear of being rejected, he wanted to look for another conference in another country but his wife is now a pregnant and she wants to give birth in the US around November (same time as the US conference). Now he really would like to witness the birth of his second child.
Question:
ITS BEEN 6YEARS since his last rejection
1) Does he stand a better chance applying for
a B1 (conference visa) since the conference/poster presentation is a paid conference (not free) and it’s a physical conference NO ONLINE OPTION. The conference is around same time as the time his pregnant wife is due to birth

2) does he stand a better chance on a B1/B2 visiting visa saying he is just going on holiday since it’s been 6 years he was rejected.

Brief Background :
His field is the technology field
He did his masters in the UK in 2012, has visited the Uk for holidays in the past. Since his last rejection, he has been to a European country (2019) for a training related to his job that helped with his last promotion just like the one he wants to go for now that will help with the promotion he is due for at the end of the year.
He also just to renewed his UK visa

Please your advice will be really appreciated

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 11:55am On Mar 29, 2022
Oh…your case is clear to me now. You’re quite in Germany to have the opportunity of reapplying immediately after a refusal. We don’t have such luxury here in Nigeria…in fact, getting a date is like hunting for a unicorn..

Wish you luck and favor at this second attempt. I will like to see what impact your cover letter will make…

esdajo:
@puffmama when I applied the first time under the IW category, I received an email after 3 weeks that I should login to my cgi account and accept the date they chose for me for an in-person interview. I went as scheduled and refused and was told I could always reapply and given back my passport at the embassy. If it was successful, they would have kept it and sent it back via courier (which was paid for at the time of making the visa fee/interview waiver payment online via paypal) after the visa had been issued as they did twice in the past.

So I reapplied under the IW category as there is no limit to the number of times you can reapply because I felt I have a case to make and I paid the fees again and mailed in the DS160, interview waiver and all other supporting documents and a cover letter (which I did not include the first time as I had no reason to believe I would be denied) to prove my case, in a mail-in carton as advised on their website so the passport won't get damaged in transit. So if I am refused, it would be returned by courier and if not, maybe I would be scheduled for another in-person interview to prove my case. But whatever it is, only time would tell. So, I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

Good morning house…

@lalasun, be rest assured that you will have a chance to defend your application at a follow up interview soonest…let’s see what is stated on your 221g first…

@esdajo…hmmm…I don’t know how it works in Germany (Frankfurt consulate) but if I can infer from our experience with the Lagos consulate, then you may be called for an interview at the Frankfurt consulate before a final decision is taken. However, you won’t know the next steps until your passport is returned. In the meantime, calm down.

Nice day, folks

Congrats to you. Kudos for being unfazed by the lady’s attitude. It could’ve unsettled you and mess up the interview. Thank God it went well.

Safe travels….

Aniody:
Good morning everyone, I want to appreciate everyone for your contributions on this page. I was a silent reader, I started following this page from the beginning and I learnt so much from here, this is the reason I came back to make my own contribution.

I had my interview section for B1B2 yesterday in Abuja with a virgin passport, never traveled, not even to Ghana and I was issued a Visa. I want to encourage those with a virgin passport to never give up.
I did everything MYSELF, from filling my DS-160, paying the Visa fee and booking for an appointment, never involved any agent.

My transcript below ;
When we got to the open space before the interview room, a Nigerian lady checked our passports, got to me and this happened.

Lady: Can I have your passport ?
Me: I gave it to her, she opened it.
Lady: Can I have your old passport?
Me: *confused* I don’t have it here, I didn’t know I was supposed to come with it.
Lady: Got very angry and said: how do I know your information is not fake, if you had filled your form yourself, you would have known you were supposed to come with your old passport, you are not ready for this interview.
Mesad1st timer who only got her information from nairaland) people of God, I started sweating and told her I filled the form myself and I am ready, I am sorry.
Lady: It is not about being sorry, i am doing my job, did you travel with it?
Me: No I didn’t.
Lady : how am I sure you are telling the truth, you are not ready and she went to the next person.
I started begging my heart not to leave my body, I calmed down and went for the interview.

VO: Can i have your passport ?
Me: Yes please, here, thank you.
VO: Have you been to the US before?
Me: No, I haven’t (who dash me, me wey carry virgin passport come meet you)
VO: Why do you want to visit the US?
Me: I intend to visit the US for a conference on ……
VO: With all her attention on me , Where do you work?
Mesadnote: i work in a place related to what the conference is about)( I had all my attention to her also, very pretty white lady .) I work with ……….,,,,,,. and we are …………, we do …………,,,,
VO: (attention still on me.) You sound like a coordinator.(this was what I filled in my form)
Me: Yes please I am in charge of ……….,,,…,,… zone that covers…………..states.
VO: How long have you been working?
Me: I have been working with my office for over 13yrs.
VO: Are you the only one going for this conference?
Me: Yes I am, others are going to UK for another related conference.
VO: (took her attention back to her computer and started typing) have you attended this type of conference before?
Me: Yes, but here in Nigeria.
VO: (after few seconds of typing, with her attention on me again) Are you married?
Me: Yes, I am married with…….,,…number of kids.
VO: (She gave me a smile) with …….kids? (Reached out to the white paper on her left, slides it through the window and said) Your application looks good, you will pick your visa in 3days.
Mesad very excited) Thank you so much, I appreciate you ( with my hands together like, namaste hand )
VO: Thank you too, bye.
She didn’t asked me for anything document, so I didn’t even open my bulky folder I went with.

So many students (F1) were given, a lot of people were denied also, especially people going for visiting.
I also noticed a lot of people going for conference were also given.
So, thank you again, may God grant us all our heart desire.

Have you collected your passport? Was a follow up interview mentioned on the 221g slip? Was there any reference to coming for interview on any Thursday between 6.30-9.30am?
If that was not stated, then a follow up appointment schedule will pop up automatically on your interview appointment portal…within few days after collecting your passport back, for you to schedule an interview…

What is your current situation?

Please anyone with info as to how one can get an appointment based on the 221g" category?

Well, they already know your child is a US citizen. You are just to mention her as going with you on the trip...it stops there.

No need to fill any DS160 form for her as she isn't applying for a visa.

Best of luck

Thanks for taking time to respond to me.

I'm aware that my child who's a US citizen doesn't need a visa to travel but there's a part on the form where I mentioned her as and my other kids as other people that I'm travelling to the states with so I'm just wondering what might happen if they don't see her own DS 160 because there's no where on the form to mention her as a US citizen.

I would appreciate a reply.

Thanks.

Your child doesn't need a visa to travel to the US, so you wouldn't be able to include same in an application .

You seem to qualify. Cancel your assisting interview date and book for IW…you can wait to cancel when you get a IW date…

CheersToLife:
Hello Everyone!!!

Please, I will appreciate it if you guys can help with this little worry of mine.

So, my interview is scheduled for November 2022, but as it stands now, I qualify for the IW because my last issued visa will be 24months in December 2022. I heard that those that their original scheduled interviews fell between FEB- OCT 2022 were sent emails to cancel and reschedule an IW appointment, if they qualify.

Please, has anyone whose interview was originally scheduled after October 2022 been able to cancel and book an IW appointment, successfully?

I will sincerely appreciate a response because I can't afford to go ahead and cancel without being sure if I am expected to wait for the general email notification from the embassy, to go ahead and cancel if I qualify for the IW process.

Thanks in anticipation of your clear responses.

Cheers!!

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 1:17pm On Mar 23, 2022
It appears that after the interview with you, they decided to verify certain information you provided before issuing the visa. Exercise more patience, you’re almost at the end of the tunnel…light lies ahead

fekeoshomoshi:
Hello Everyone,

I submitted my document for IW on the 1st of March(the exact date my eligibility for IW expire, I got date on 28th of February).

my document status shows "refused" on the 3rd of March, picked up my document from DHL on the 9th of March and was asked to come any Thursday for followup appointment. I was there last week Thursday, 17th of March, 2022. The followup interview went well, just two questions was asked and the VO said my document will be ready within 3 business working days.

I tracked my document today, status show "Administrative Processing" last updated on the 17th of March, 2022, the day I attended the followup interview.

Am worried, because I expect it should be on "Issued" and probably "ready for pickup" by now.

what could be the cause of the delay in processing my document?

Thanks for your responses.

I don’t think @Pepes is an agent peddling interview dates upandan. He only notified the platform upon discovering that interview dates for IW were available.
Then you need to confirm if your mother in law qualified for Dropbox/IW which was what @Pepes announced…

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 9:26pm On Mar 18, 2022
It should be the same as DS160 confirmation number....the Case Number is different. I think it is generated when you send an enquiry/issue to the Consulate via the 'feedback' menu on the interview appointment portal...

She didn't travel during COVID, her last US trip was in 2019 for 3 weeks.
Her longest trip was in 2016 for 7 weeks.
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate all you do on this forum. God bless you.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Dampops(m): 2:39pm On Mar 18, 2022
Hi,
Google i94 and the link to the portal will be available for your perusal. It’s likely she’s been called for an interview due to her length of stay in any of the previous trips. She’s retired, so there’s no job she was rushing back to Nigeria for…and she can always say she was spending time with her child and grandkids (did she travel during COVID? That can be an excuse for a longer stay).

I believe she’ll be fine at the interview…

Hanzat:
Hello Dampops, my mom visa was refused, after days of administrative processing.
Thank God refusal isn't denial.
Although, I don't know what the reason could be.
The longest she has stayed in the US is for 7 weeks when she went with me for delivery support. Other trips has been 2-3 weeks max.
Also her visa was about to expire in 2016 when she made the trip but wrote to the consulate and she received a response stating she can travel with the visa and the border officer will determine how long she can stay. She arrived US Feb 2016, Visa expired March 2016, at the airport she was stamped in for 6 months.
Can you advice if this could be an issue, I have asked she prints the embassy response to her email, also how do I access the travel portal for more travel information. Thank you.
