For those people picking Spartacus over Game of Thrones, answer me this;

If Spartacus is so great, then how come it hasn't won a single international award.

How come for the past 3 years, Game of Thrones, Mad men, Breaking bad have been garnering all the awards on offer, while Your precious Spartacus looks on empty handed.

I will tell you why. Game of Thrones has depth, quality and rich plots, while Spartacus has only one or two things going for it: Exaggerated violence and nüdity plus pornógraphic quotes that you can only find in every other Starz productions and porñ movies.

That series no matter how captivating and exciting it may seem to the gullible audience, can never be compared to the magnificence that is Game of Thrones.

Americans says so, Brits says so, France says so, The world says so. Only Australian and New Zealand says otherwise. Maybe it's because 95% of the cast is from those regions.

So to all you Game of Thrones haters, it's time to refine your barbaric taste and start to appreciate quality series.

Open your convoluted minds and watch Game of Thrones again and appreciate the quality of high budget production.

coogar: it seems you don't know how rome was in those days? all the things they have showed you were the things that happened in that era. watch rome season 1 and 2 and see if there's any difference. little did you know spartacus was actually based on a true story.....
I watched Rome all right. But the level of nudity in Rome is no where as extreme as that of Spartacus. And violence in Rome is almost non-existent...at least not up to Spartacus caliber.

Anyways, brains behind the series are using the immoral history of Roman empire to lure audience to their show with those tempting graphics on offer.

coogar: it's a stand alone....
they worked out something for the fans and they went back to develop stories about how some of the characters in season 1 came to be. without andy's death, they wouldn't have made gods of the arena!
Noted.
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 8:45pm On Apr 05, 2013
coogar: does this not have to do with the respective stories they have based the TV series on? who cares about what budget or how complicated a show is?
I do, thank you very much. Any time I wanna watch something, either a drama or movie, I habitually wikipedied the budget just to see if it's worth my time. If it does, then expect fire works. If it doesn't expect a lot of s.ex scenes and exaggerated violence.

Why do they do this? Simple: They want to attract audience to their show at all cost. Spartacus is a typical example...no offence.

coogar: it's a mini-series.
gods of the arena have about 5-6 episodes(shorter than blood/sand, vengeance and war of the damned). it was quickly put together and developed to fill the void. the fans had to be kept happy!!
I know it's a min-series, but where does it stands actually. Does it stand alone on it's own, or was it attached to another season?

coogar: what's wrong with you people and your reluctance to take corrections? vengeance is season 2 - they did it to keep the fans going when andy died......without andy's death, there wouldn't have been a mini-series called gods of the arena!
You never answered my previous question. How do you then classify the seasonless Gods of the Arena. If you give me a satisfactory answer, I will hold my peace and accept correction.
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 8:26pm On Apr 05, 2013
Back to the topic, Game of thrones is the series to watch. Spartacus will never, and I repeat never touch it's magnificence.

Spartacus is low rent and crass, while Game of thrones is more complicated. A bit crass but also glorious. Hallelujah!
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 8:16pm On Apr 05, 2013
kevoh: Better you said less.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is not, I repeat, is not Season 2 but a prequel to Spartacus Blood and Sand. It was used to tell us the events that happened before the season 1. Vengeance is the original Season 2 of Spartacus. Just type spartacus season 2 in Google search and tell me if it is Vengeance or Gods of the Arena you will get as season 2.

In your words : Need I say more?
You can do all the rationalizing in the world all you can, but the fact still remains that it came out the subsequent year after the first season. And as far as I'm concerned that makes it the second season. C'est fini.

ITbomb: And when it is no longer on TV show but now on DVD and each episode is approximately 1 to 3 hrs, can't I call each episode movie and the entire collection, series of Movies
Nope. Technically it will be wrong to do so. Simply refer to them either as drama - because that is what they are, or soaps rather than calling them movies.

And an episode of a drama never exceeds 2 hours. Whenever it does so, it will cease being a drama.
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 7:58pm On Apr 05, 2013
coogar: gods of the arena is not season 2 - they just put that together to whet the appetite of the fans when andy whitfield died.
If it's not season 2, how do you classify it then?
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 7:51pm On Apr 05, 2013
kevoh: Spartacus Yes! Game Of Thrones No! I'll still watch Game of thrones season 3 though when I am done with Spartacus but right now Spartacus Season 3 Episode 4 and 5 downloading.
By the way, there's no Spartacus Season 4 , na Alaba people dey call the present Spartacus wey dem dey show season 4. Spartacus season 3 finale will be shown on the 12th April 2013 any one that sells Spartacus season 3 to you as complete as at today is selling you fake or incomplete series.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand (Season 1)

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (Season 2)

Spartacus: Vengeance (Season 3)

Spartacus: War Of the Damned (Season 4)

......

Need I say more?
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by DandeNumeruno(m): 7:43pm On Apr 05, 2013
ITbomb: Series of movies , duh
There is nothing like series of movies. Series is a tv show that run continuously for several weeks. It can either be a drama or a reality show like American Idols.

While a movie/film is a motion picture that run for approximately 1 to 3 hrs.

Tv series actors/producers/writers win an Emmys or Golden globe, while their counterparts in Hollywood(Movie industry) win an Oscar.

That's the difference.

coogar: i don't hate game of thrones - i saw the first 2 seasons and i was particularly impressed with season 1. in my opinion, season 2 was mehhhhh but i am watching the current season. it's corny to compare GOT with spartacus. people tend to underrate spartacus because of the sheer nüdity and the raw violence but beyond those are dialogues that would make you fall in love with engish language. words put together so intelligently it would make shakespeare grin in his grave.....

batiatus' quotes should be etched in gold......some are explicit some would just make you go bonkers. i have missed his character so much. he talks with so much aura to make you look beyond his despicable leadership. he's not the only one, his wife is world class too so are many of the characters on the show! you cannot compare both shows - spartacus wins on dialogue alone and the unusual english language they spoke on the show.
You made a very strong point. I have to agree with some of what you wrote. I do enjoy Spartacus because of it's raw and uncensored dialogues and excessive nudity and violence - I'm not a saint after all. And the Gods of the Arena remains my favorite season of the series, particularly because of the strong acting of Batiatus.

But I disagree on your view of Game of Thrones second season. It may not be as action packed as the first season, but it's more educational. To me it had more substance, because it actually made clear about some unresolved issues of season one.

Bottom line - Both shows are good in their own ways, but Game of Thrones edged out Spartacus on the bases of originality and creativity alone.

It's more internationally accepted than Spartacus would ever be.

TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by DandeNumeruno(m): 3:35pm On Apr 05, 2013
coogar: these are memorable quotes - batiatus alone made more sick quotes than these ones.....are you kidding me? the only character on GOT that would walk into the spartacus set is the imp......the others are as bland as saliva!
Lol! Batiatus was insane with some of his explicit quotes, but it doesn't make one think. It only amuses. Game of Thrones on the other hand is full of insightful quotes.

It seems like you hate Game of Thrones for your own reasons, but it is really a great series. Very original and totally unpretentious, unlike Spartacus.
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by DandeNumeruno(m): 3:24pm On Apr 05, 2013
Here are some of the epic ones;

Eddard Stark: The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword.

Grand Maester Pycelle: A dying mind is a demented mind, Lord Stark. For all the weight they're given, last words are usually as significant as first words.

Jaime Lannister: People have been swinging at me for years, they always seem to miss.

Tywin Lannister: It's the family name that lives on. That's all that lives on. Not your personal glory, not your honor, but family.

Tyrion Lannister: A Lannister always pays his debts.
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by DandeNumeruno(m):
coogar: mention one memorable quote on GOT
There are several actually.

Sandor (The Hound): Any man dies with a clean sword, I'll ra.pe his fu-king corpse!

Cersei: The gods have no mercy, that's why they're gods.

Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege. A wedding.

Tyrion: Those are brave men knocking at our
door. Let's go kill them!

Cersei: Tears aren't a woman's only weapon The best one's between your legs.

Tyrion: I much like my head. I don't want to
see it removed just yet.

-Bronn: Do you know how to use that?

-Tyrion: I chopped wood once. No, actually, I
watched my brother chop wood.

-Tyrion: I'm the captain. If this ship goes
down, I go down with it.

-Varys: I'm sure many captains said the same
when the ship was afloat.

Those are only but a few. There are more epic ones that I will post later on.

luluosas: I connected via USB tethering but, couldn't browse at all. Thank you anyway.
From your images, I could see that you tried to browse with the Edge network. Nah, it wouldn't connect, and even if it does, the signal will be very poor. It works like a dream on a 3G/H friendly environment, though.

Well, you should stick with the wireless hotspot tethering, as it's the only way you can browse on a weak network. But it dey burn data like kerosene shaa!

I switched to Glo and it was EDGE which couldn't load too. I then switched back to MTN and the message in the attached picture pop up. It is browsing but, I don't know whether it the BBCWEEK subscription or not.
It showed that you didn't exhaust your daily 10mb plan before subscribing to blackberry services. But it doesn't really matter, if you are still on BBCWEEK subscription, just ignore the message.

For better downloading experience on mtn bis, using mobile phones, give UC Browser a try, you will not be disappointed. Whereas operamini can terminate your downloading midway, it's practically non-existence on UC Browser. And downloading is also much faster, most especially on 3G Network.
