Hi Olamide, I just replied to your mail. ![]() eniboi: |
Tosinfemi, this is not the right place for your enquiries. There is an active thread where your queries can be addressed. Go to --> https://www.nairaland.com/2035081/travelling-canada-part-7/167 Best of luck. BTW, Your age is not a problem when it comes to applying to Canada with a profile such as yours. You're good to go. tosinfemi: |
newacca, you have no reason to worry. As long as people like Pelumi dey NL and dem dem still dey ITALY, nothing does you ![]() And as I see you, you don't easily give up, do you ? I like the fact that you're being proactive way before you even receive an admission (tres bien- very well). Italy will always admit you concerned your marks achieved are impressive. Best of luck, bro. newacca: |
And to everyone Eke40Seven, Rayhut, everyone that has posted above. I understand if you guys think the information I shared above doesn't agree with you. That's totally OK. This is a forum, I'm a user of many and I've disagreed with a few posts myself and agreed with some, however, not in some form I've seen above. I apologize and you guys have admitted, it is wrong (your opinion, and everyone stands corrected - me inclusive!). I did not mean to cause any form of misunderstanding or attention-seeking in anyways (Believe me, that was not the plan at all). The last two pages of this thread have all been about arguments whether or not accreditation or whatnot, but that's expected in a thread. Once again, I'm sorry - let's make this thread what it was, and is supposed to be; a learning platform. Best of luck to prospective and current German students. What do you say we move on, no? |
You've been to Germany last year I'm not here to tell you how many times I've been to Germany, that would have nothing to do wit my intention in the first place. Knowledge is acquirable whether or not you've been somewhere. And Rayhut, if you've been to Germany on a course, why not share information then? You could know better than I do... read my comments I stated - there is a chance, not a certainty and I never said what anyone said wasn't true or not. There is a chance that you could give an information which may be current at a time but now outdated. I'm not asking for you to agree with me or not. You can say you do not agree and move on, there is no need of trying to insult someone because they've shared an opinion and it doesn't agree with you. I'm surprised that's what everyone seems to be doing and I'm beginning to not see the fun in it. And It's OK, if you're going to respond with another insult, I'll try my best to shun it. I don't think this is what I bargained for when I decided to share what I had to share. Rayhut: |
But I'm sorry o, read the statement very well now. I said there is a 70% chance not 100% and it's a chance, not a certainty. Oh, and is it true you can never be admitted into a Fach without it being accredited ? Believe me, this I do not know. Thanks for sharing. beebee5000: |
I have no plans on insulting you, bro. If you read my initial comment, you'd see the nature of my comment. It was posted with no intention of insulting anyone. All I did was share an idea that most people I'm sure are unaware of but reach their schools and find out their course has got this and that. By the way, I do not know whether Eke40Seven(not that is a bad idea) is being praised for an info he has given in the past or whether he is a German student but I can tell he doesn't currently study in Germany and yes, what I've stated earlier about accreditation is from what I've seen others experience. And thank you for commenting, I hope I've not mislead you in any ways. If I have, I apologize for that Fatalveli: |
Really!? It does say I reside in India ? WOW!! What makes you think that these people commenting back are studying in Germany ? A few have but from what I've read and seen, most haven't. And OH Yes, bro. I know what I'm saying. You may not ![]() Fatalveli: |
Chai! I read your comment, I remember that Benin professor when dem dey always use dey play for YouTube. Are you looking to understand something or you're just looking to fill this thread with your huge VOCABS!? Forgive me, I'm not a native english speaker So let me take a little bit of my time to attend to you. This, however, will be my last response as people like you never, ever conform to what others have to say. This must be a trait and I'm sure you're used to it (no offense, eh!) 1. I posted many links, not just one, and you've chosen to point out at one that only refers to Engineering. Forgive me, I may have sent that hoping you'd read through the comments and use it as a referral but you didn't. 2. You've just asked to check International accepted rankings, do you not know that a Uni is not just ranked based on all its courses but on a special field. UoT is good for Engineering, but not for Sciences. Ryerson is good for networking but not for Engineering. These schools are also ranked top whatever you want to classify it as. But that being said, you keep confusing top ranked universities with accreditation(Sometimes proof reading doesn't help, understanding does). 3. You've mentioned I've based my evaluations on what I strongly believe. You want me to base it on what ? I stated in one of my earlier comments, it is an advice, you can choose to heed to it or not. You may think it is wrong, but let that be your own issue (don't let it be others) People can actually learn something from it, whereas you may not. I've seen the excerpt that you've posted on DAAD.de. My initial comment on this forum had nothing to do with DAAD.de and it's possible that could be correct but I do have a question, are you saying that all the institutes that are not listed with Uni-assist have all their courses accredited ? (I realized something, a few people think I said because they are not admitting via Uni-assist does make them unaccredited, this was not what I meant, I meant there was a chance they weren't accredited) I'm actually a bit tired of all these rantings. You can choose to agree with me or not, I wouldn't be the first nor the last person a few people wouldn't agree it. I would repeat with, opinions are way different from facts. Do have a good time and all the best in your endeavors. Eke40seven: |
Is this based on what others have said, or you sat, read through the previous comments and then decide to seek some attention ? Rayhut: |
If you attended Uniport then you're good to go. I don't remember the CGPA uni-assist recommends.. I think 2.4 or something.. not sure. You can do some findings. This link should help work it out -> http://www.eur.nl/ese/english/education/examination_board/requests_to_the_examination_board_ese/converting_foreign_credits/ There is another website that has a much simpler way of calculating but I don't remember it. I'll do some more findings and get back to you. If you're planning to pursue your Masters in Germany and you have 16 years education, you're good. 16 - (Senior Secondary + 4 years of Uni) I hope this helps. Williamso: |
@Gadafitruth, thank you. gadafitruth: |
Soweto, I've known daad.de for years. It is a website similiar to mastersportal.eu. They list out Universities offering courses with the requirements/details and whatnot info you may require. Sometimes, it's better to agree to disagree. Let's let this thread continue to be a platform where people can gather information, share opinions and guide others. There is nothing wrong as to telling people to seek out a course that is accredited and an accredited uni, is there ? sowetto: |
If I have the opportunity to do what, I'll jump at what Studying in Germany ?? If I want to study anywhere, all I have to do is Apply, there is no jumping at it or whatever. You seek knowledge, you get it.Gadaffi, I am not here to talk back at you. This is Nairaland. It's a forum where I believe people can share ideas and opinions. Some to you could be wrong, and just because to you it is wrong, doesn't mean in its entirety, is wrong. And I have not come across a course with asterisks indicating that it is not accredited. Even universities do not list their unaccredited courses as it not being unaccredited for whatever reason (this is to what I've seen). You could be right. gadafitruth: |
The fact that I gave is accreditation. Read the comment through again. It's a chance not an assurance. I'm responsible for what I say, I'm not responsible for what you understand. And I'm glad you agree that some courses in Universities are not accredited. Finally, a breath of fresh air. Whew! Obiwannn: |

If the school doesn't go with Uni-assist, there is a 70% chance the school is not accredited. is way different from If the school doesn't go with Uni-assist, then it means it is not accredited. Does this help in any way ? And guys, I'm sorry I do not mean to mislead anyone on here. I understand the fact that people are looking up to this thread to gain information before embarking on their journey to studying abroad. I posted my comment not to tell anyone that I know more than they do or for anyone to tell me they know more than I do. All I have done was share my own piece of advice and I understand that not everyone will agree with me and that's expected given that this is a forum. And my advice can stand as an opinion and not a fact (though it appears not everyone sees it that way). All the best to those who are planning to study in Germany or anywhere... and to those who are already studying there. |
Mr Soweto, I don't understand your comment. You just mentioned Uni-assist helps some universities access and verify degrees from foreign countries, and I wrote "Uni-Assist is an agency that evaluates international degrees or certificates" you want make I change the words to your own selection before you take understand the meaning of evaluation ? Goat tie rope, rope tie goat, wetin be the difference ? sowetto: |
First of all, I'd tell you your tone of comment is rude, and I wasn't gonna respond to this but I think I should give you a piece of something you're looking for. Getting 2 million naira for an average family to put in a block account is not easy (noone said it was). Naija people dey talk say person when no get mama, no dey carry sore for back. Studying abroad is beyond the 2million naira when you dey put for blocked account. Na because of people when don go there before turn liability na im make dem introduce this system (no offense to you or anyone). When you reach there, na ur head u wan scratch take feed yourself abi na under bridge you wan go stay for there ? And you dey talk say mushroom schools na im dey india. So you wan tell me say if you get chance take go India, you go deny am o, abi ? And FYI, nor be mushroom schools dey India. 100% says if you study abroad (And na true true you dey go school o), you'll have at least 2-3 Indians in your faculty/school. Mushroom schools when dem go, Germany no scrutinize dem reach you. And sponsorship letter for 1,500 after tax ? If you are going to study abroad, you have to understand what you'll have to go through, there is no need of lamenting here. I just shared information that I strongly know of and if I read your post well, you just dey vex dey type, you nor even take time drink water at all, somebody offend you ? And for everyone whey wan go any University for Germany or to any Uni abroad for the sake of Education, and nor be say na Obodoyinbo na him be ur main reason to go there, check for the right uni with the right accreditation (this will definitely help you stand out on a HR Manager's desk) and this will be for your own good. You can either take it or leave it. Some of the guys wanting to travel/study abroad you see will go to any Uni just for the sake of Visa and reach there and get into something else. And again, I'm surprised to actually see some people turn this to something else. What part of 70% chance did you not understand ? 70% actually means 2 out of 3 (this is approximate) schools that are not using Uni-assist for their admission stands the chance of not being accredited universities. If you guys read it through, I used the words - 70% chance - chance means may or maybe not (uncertainty). I did not say for sure they are not accredited.. why all the fuss ? gadafitruth: |
Anabin.de is a directory where you can check if your transcripts/waec /degree certificate can be evaluated as an entry certificate to pursue higher studies in germany. If it doesn't have it listed or accepted. I advise you not to pay Uni-assist. dafexe: |
Tu Munich admits via Uni-assist University of Freiburg is accredited but not all of its programs are (refer:http://accreditation.org/university/de/albert-ludwigs-universit%C3%A4t-freiburg) You can find a list of Institutes and programs accredited here: http://www.hs-kompass2.de/kompass/xml/akkr/maske.html Accreditation agencies - http://www.akkreditierungsrat.de/index.php?id=5 (ASIIN - I believe is the highest though Eke40seven: |
There are recognized.. Accreditation does not have anything to do with recognition. You can refer to this: http://www.aacsb.edu/en/accreditation/accredited-members/ And read forums like these: http://www.degreeinfo.com/accreditation-discussions-ra-detc-state-approval-unaccredited-schools/24724-european-university-accredited.html You'll understand that even though a UNI is recognized, if the course is not accredited, the degree doesn't weigh as much as others. This is just to enlighten people. It's a pain to study for years and find out your degree does not catch the HR Manager's attention. And yes, it's possible for a University to have some of its courses accredited and most of it's courses not accredited. This is something most people do not take into consideration when applying to schools abroad. You can be admitted to a course, and your UNI is porsche but the course many not be recognized outside of that state even. This is again possible. All I'm saying is - if you're planning to study abroad, do your home work, look for courses with accreditation and that are reputed. There's a huge competition in the job market, that even degrees contribute a lot to your job applications. This is a just an advice, you can decide whether to follow it or not. No I sabi pass you for here. dolpaz: |
That is true. Most schools that even admit through Uni-assist will ask you to first send your documents for Pre-Evaluation before sending over to Uni-Assist. Kiel and many other universities operates this way. scofield03: |
No, Nigeria does not use the ECTS system. There is a formula which you can use to calculate the number of hours achieved(this could include practical lab classes, number of hours attended and exams) and you can get the number equivalent to ECTS credits. And by the way, a much simpler way is this. A proper full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS (Again, this depends on the college attended) Williamso: |
This is something you fail to understand. DAAD is a directory, Uni-Assist is an agency that evaluates international degrees or certificates. You fail to still understand what shot 30 has got out of 100. Universities do not, in most cases know anything about the way you grade scores in your country. WES, Uni-Assist are educational agencies that does all that for them. I understand what you think you're doing. You're probably guessing because a uni has a University of Blah Blah makes it accredited. Now, I see you listed names here and when you go and search the top universities, you'll find these schools listed way below. I'm surprised you didn't mention Cologne too. I study in a city where there are 5 or even more Universities, you see out of these universities, all of them has this name University of this and University of that and mine let's say its different. Now when I checked in the database of International renowned Universities, I found out my University was the only one accredited and listed on that website. In Germany, it was listed H+, there is a chance where those Universities you mentioned are listed as H- or an ordinary H elsewhere, I hope you know what that means, your degree is given a lower priority compared to others. This, you may not understand yet, once you do more research to contradict my view, you'll get to know what I'm talking about. And by the way, I see you mentioned University of Munich, you believe because it's a University of a Capital city and that makes it known-ed more than other Universities!? There are even University of Applied Sciences that are better than that Uni (I strongly believe). And you're the one who seem to not be understand my piece of advice. You're taking it way out of proportion. Almost all the schools admit NON-EU students via Uni-assist. If the school doesn't go with Uni-assist, there is a 70% chance the school is not accredited and a little bit of advice for everyone, please choose an Institute that is accredited. Nor be all certificates get Value now o. That was an ADVICE o. You can decide to follow it or not. Eke40seven: |
I'm glad that could motivate you to want to try it. Believe me, it will not be an easy journey but you'll thank me later. There are so many videos on Youtube. So many audio podcasts, and trust me on this, it is better than any tutor or teacher anyday. I was only taught French for 40 minsx3 times in a week. Some of the classes I did not even attend and I managed to ace it big time. I can say I understand 50% of french though my reading sucks a bit because of the pronunciations of some irregular words but I do just fine. Eke40seven: |
Eke40seven, I know this because I myself have found out that most of the schools that will offer you a degree and that will be globally reputed in Germany, will 100% ask you to go via Uni-Assist. Documents translations and grades conversions are not done by the Uni's. There is no way a UNI can do your documents evaluation from Nigeria and tell you they admit you on their own basis, I wouldn't advice you to do so. Nevertheless, a degree from any University is still a degree but not compared to one from a University that is renowned. You can argue with me as much as you want on this, it will only be an opinion but college accreditation will always remain a fact. How many number of schools in Germany doesn't admit their students via Uni-assist ? And by the way, what does an exam like JAMB has gotta do with this. Jamb is a matric board exam, it's just like writing an Entrance exam into a college. Uni-assist is like WES. They evaluate your documents and transfer it to your college for admission. Infact, if you speak to most schools that you want to apply to them, they'd ask you to speak to Uni-assist and if you're financially constrained, you can first look up your degree on www.anabin.de before dumping a wholesome to Uni-Assist. "The fact that a school is with or not with uni-assist doesn't make them accredited or not" This I know, I didn't mention if they weren't accredited. My comment was if there are not with Uni-Assist, there is a 70% chance they are not accredited. *30% still says they could be accredited. That's a whole lot, bro ![]() Eke40seven: |
And I see people here asking for tutors to teach them German on this thread. What happened to the Internet being a learning platform ? I'm in my second year and I've taken French as my second language all through the 2 years. The first year I was the 3rd top scorer and I didn't even prepare for it that much as I focused on other subjects. I know the B2 and A2 can be hard but believe me, you wouldn't learn a lot by going to some language teacher in Nigeria. We do have a French language lecturer at our college but believe me, most of the time I do not follow what she teaches, I learn what I know, online. You can go online and find free resources for learning, torrents etc. I forgot the name of this guy, he speaks about 10 languages, the way he teaches you'd get a knack of it in no time and if you put it into practice(daily) by repeating and watch German movies, you'll do just fine. And no, it's not as hard as others may have made it sound to you. |
Almost all the schools admit NON-EU students via Uni-assist. If the school doesn't go with Uni-assist, there is a 70% chance the school is not accredited and a little bit of advice for everyone, please choose an Institute that is accredited. Nor be all certificates get Value now o. styles2009: |
Pelumi, we can always celebrate your DOV o. I dey this side o Pelumiv: |
This will be the first step to take. You have to take the letter they've given you, and your certificates to the Embassy for something called Pre-Enrolment. You will go there with your documents certified by the Min of Edu, Min of Ext Affairs, have it translated to Italian and in the case of your certs awarded in Nigeria, you'll have to do it there at the Italian Embassy. You have to start this process ASAP as the processing can take a long period of time. Though you do not need the DOV at this time nor will you need it at the time of Visa Application, you'll definitely need it in Italy either at the time of Final enrollment or at the beginning of your second academic year (mandatory). So to be on a safer side, do your documents legalization now alongside the DOV. And I forgot to add, the Pre-Enrolment starts somewhere around May... and it ends in June, last week of June, you hear back from the embassy in July (this is when they've heard back from your UNI in Italy) and then you proceed to do the Visa Application last week of July or First of August. In September, the final enrolment process starts through to somewhere in October. govman4: |
And DamiTola, do keep in mind that whether or not you'll be studying in a UNI does not make the Syllabus different. If they will differ, it will only be a few topics or less and in some cases, the UNI syllabuses maybe a little bit indepth (theoretically) where as in Polytechnics, there will be lots of practicals. And if you plan to do anything related to Engineering or Sciences, you must be very good in Maths, and when I mean Maths, not the Maths (simultaneous equation) when we dey do for Naija, I'm talking Abstract Algebra etc which means you should be thoroughly acquainted with Further Maths. Studies outside Nigeria can be a pain in the butt if you go with the Nigerian Education mentality.. and it wouldn't be much ideal if you graduate with a Second Class lower from a University abroad. That being said, everything is possible. If you devote time to study your courses and read very often, you may even get to top your class (It's nothing new). All I'm trying to say in a very simple word is - You are going to have to study hard if you plan to study abroad (Italy or anywhere else). |

how person go survive residing in expensive city like Milano, being a student? I'm particularly concerned about expenses but I'm one stubborn guy who never give up.
I'm not here to tell you how many times I've been to Germany, that would have nothing to do wit my intention in the first place. Knowledge is acquirable whether or not you've been somewhere.
