Another highly credible source confirmed to me on Friday that the process is more or less concluded and asked me to watch out from Tuesday next week for the successful list of candidates. What I didn't ask was what the mode of transmission will be; whether by National Dailies or otherwise.

Guys, try to understand our peculiar situation as EH. A lot of us have jobs we are doing and wouldn't risk it fighting for the one we are not even sure of yet. Our employers, colleagues and bosses are also on these social media platforms. I for one, my employer works closely with NNPC. I cannot dare to stick out my neck openly hustling for NNPC job. Na coded things we still dey do until it materializes.

However, like someone mentioned before, the deliberate silence by NNPC may be strategic and possibly for the good of the recruitment exercise and for us in general. I would just say we should give them the benefit of doubt. We cannot behave like the GTs in the way they troll NNPC on social media for obvious reasons. Basically, I'm saying that we shouldn't act in a way that would endanger our jobs just in the quest of chasing another one which we aren't sure of yet. Good morning

Someone once mentioned here that there will be compulsory retirement,I overheard someone saying yesterday that from M2 upwards were retired,don't really know if it's true,but an MD in one of the SBU was replaced and he still has some time left in the system,but the word is that he was retired and will be paid off. With this reshuffling,people are moving and as such spaces are being created...the staffs that have gone for the COC are surely moving to Deputy managers if they succeed,which means SS2 staffs are going to be moved up to SS1..2012 set are due to move up to ss3 already,plus this their internal reshuffling too...guys there's hope....we need to just keep hope alive and believe all will work for our good...my mantra tho is,"if God cannot do it for me,nobody can"

In 2014, I and several other Nigerian University graduates had been shortlisted to write the Presidential Special Scholarship (PRESSID) designed exclusively for First Class Nigerian graduates who wanted to pursue both Masters and PhD in any top 25 Universities in the world. President Goodluck Jonathan had set the scheme up and the idea was to build a strong team of brilliant Nigerians who will come back to serve the country years later.

There were a little above one thousand of us who wrote the exam at CHAMS, Abuja. At the time, I was already lecturing in UNN so most of my friends (who were also my colleagues) enrolled. 16 of us in total. It was a computer-based test so we knew our fate instantly. I had scored 94% in the exam. In fact, 15 of us from UNN scored between 80 and 97%. Man! We came out of the exam hall completely joyous. We were so sure we had got the scholarship. And we were right. Sometime in February 2015, the list of 101 successful candidates was shortlisted in the National Dailies. Fifteen of us were on that list. I had applied to Princeton University, Imperial College London and University of Toronto already. That phase of our lives was glorious.

Fast forward to March 2015, Goodluck lost the elections to Mr. Buhari. That was where things started to take a new turn. Shortly after Mr Buhari was sworn in, he had recalled the list and complained that there was no single northerner on it. He believed it was an agenda of the South. Right before our eyes, meritocracy was shortchanged for Federal character. It was first like a joke, but we all lost that huge scholarship. It was worth about $250,000 per person (tuition and living expenses inclusive across 5 years). Before then I had little faith in the country but when this happened, I became weary of the country.

Thankfully, later that year, I got a full scholarship from University of Toronto for my Masters and PhD (6 years in total). Of those other 14 friends of mine, 13 of them have also moved since then - US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Japan etc. Obviously we moved on but truth is, the life we have now was afforded to us by the Government of another country, many of which will seduce you with permanent residency and citizenship afterwards.

Any nation that shortchanges merit for anything else will fall. Nigeria has the brightest people, yet, we are where we are (in Osibanjo's voice).

Most Southerners that study in the North, are below average of a typical Southerner. It's mostly frustration of not getting admission in the South or due to rustication, that made some of them to study in the North, because of easier admission entry requirements and lower competition.

The release of the EH list will shock you....The EH information may be more hidden..But it may be released in an unexpected manner. Maybe next week...You can't say.

After all alot of rumours were going on before suddenly appointment letters dropped on the court day..... And since no more court case against this recruitment, anything can happen.

The high and mighty are trying to infiltrate the EH category and the NNPC hierarchy has decided to dodge the bullets by doing an Internal placing (don't know what dat means). But that is what has been communicated to the big men, to see if they would relax on on the pressure, it's kind of a threat to see if they would give them (nnpc) some breathing space..
