From my experience, nipple cleaning causing contraction does not happen in all cases. It depends on individuals. You can start cleaning a month to EDD.. 3 to 4 times a week is ok...

You need olive oil and cotton wool for cleaning. Dab the nipple and surroundings with the oil and use the cotton wool to clean after 5mins.It cleans out dirts and also open up the milk ducts in the nipple for sucking. You can do it often as you approach your EDD.

My people, abeg I need your input. I just got back from my antenatal visit and I was told by the gynaecologist that my baby is very small, at 7mths,my baby should be weighing be 2kg but weighing just a little above 1kg. Please anyone has experienced this before? What can I do to increase the weight of my baby. Though the doctor advised that I eat more..

High fibre foods, lots of vegetables, lots of water.

I've never had regular bowel movements so I've been especially careful during this pregnancy. I take a combination of these things in a day to ensure I have at least a daily relief.
High fibre cereal in the morning (I'm lactose intolerant so the milk helps stir my stomach). I snack on lots of garden eggs during the day...take fruits (watermelon/oranges) and at night I take yoghurt before I sleep....although I still have Hemorrhoids the size of my fist, I dont strain at all, I just wait for some mins and everything comes out.

You can say that again cappo.. I have been managing hemorrhoids even before I got married. @indian03, just follow her advice and you will be fine..

My January mamas (and December porters ) how are we doing? Counting down to the final weeks of this journey. We thank God for bringing us this far and pray that he perfects all that concerns us in Jesus name, Amen.

Meanwhile, I can't believe we are only 18 mamas for January...so after all that lockdown, only 18 of us defied social distancing rules If you are still in hiding please come out and register else na bag of onions we go use accept you

Mama's with experience pls help o. Baby want to suck but no breast milk yet abi I should give DH first to help her ni? Mother in law has been choking her with water and I read that water causes jaundice though mixed with glucose but I'm not too please with it

Thank you ma. I was just wondering if it is normal, my doctor also told me that some people do not get symptoms in early pregnancy.Apart from the missed period, I am just like my normal self.

I think its partly because the "first baby excitement " isn't there anymore and you'd most likely still have stuff your older kids used so no hurry

I complained to my doctor about tiredness and he said its probably because I'm jobless and sleeping too much thats why I'm always tired cos my body isn't used to being idle. Na work I no get, I no kee person

January mamas how are we doing? Long time no roll call
We thank God for bringing us this far, it feels like we are on the home run. Soon we'd be counting down single digits weeks remaining to the arrival of our LOs.
I hope we have started/almost concluded our shopping o...pls don't be like me cos I'm not leading by example. I'm trying to find the shopping list to share especially for FTMs to help with shopping....I'd post as soon as I find it.

Present cappo.. I have not bought anything yet o, I don't know why I am not in a hurry probably because this is my third missionary journey.. My third trimester packages are tiredness, backache and spitting..

Those of us that have crossed 20 weeks how was your anomaly scan? Any gender reveals yet?

My hospital is really vexing me how can a consultant be saying he's not sure of gender at 20weeks? Anyways, thats their headache cos I've claimed my team pink

I wanted a girl those days because girl clothes are so cute and lots of options. At least someone can shop unlike with boys clothes, na shirt and jeans options don finish lol. But now I just see it as additional expense because I've gotten used to the straightforward nature of shopping for boys, especially how my boys can share and inherit each other's clothes.

Last last na the hair matter tire me pass. If I have a girl God help me let her not be that type that wants to carry the finest hair but will be crying when they see comb. I just can't deal I go shave the thing comot. Who hair epp?

I can totally relate. I have two boys too and I am kind of indifferent about the gender of the third pregnancy. My hubby is hoping for a girl. I don't mind too because I don't want to go through wahala of circumcision again .but I am also apprehensive about taking care and grooming of a girl because I have always been with boys. . The stress of hairdo is another thing. We will be fine last last whichever the gender

You can equally take the formular with you to the hospital. Hospital policy differ. I took mine (NAN) to hospital because my breastmilk does not come out till the 3rd day. I couldn't afford to leave my baby without food o. The nurse even fed my baby herself with spoon and cup few minutes after birth because he was just sucking his hands after his first cry.. Meaning he came out really hungry. Lol

Cappo thanks for checking. Currently 15wks+, doing well even though morning (abi full day) sickness has not fully gone but it has lessened a lot, the one I'm most happy to be rid of is the spit thing, glad that one's over.
I'm planning to register for antenatal on Wednesday so that's progress.
Me I can't wait to start feeling baby's kick o, as a FTM I know it might still be some wks before I start feeling it.

Lucky you the spit has stopped. It could be so uncomfortable. Me I am still battling with it. I pray it stopped soon and not to be like my previous pregnancy that I stopped spitting in the labour room

Yes it is possible.. Some just have contractions, some, water breaking, and some losing mucus plug. It differs from persons to persons..

Late BS!

First of all I give God the glory for counting me worthy to be a mother after three years of TTC.

My pregnancy was a smooth one from the beginning to the end. Nothing strange happened to me except that I was always having malaria. I had ms all through ist trimester, second trimester was the best as my energy level was on the high side. Third trimester also came with its own package but in all, nothing unusual was recorded.

On the 19th of June which happened to be my EDD, my husband birthday and also my antenatal day, I woke up at 1.00am and saw mucus plug ( I had been praying to see it since I read it's not everybody that see mucus plug as sign of labour). I am a ftm and keep wondering how I will know if labour start if i don't see it. So when I saw my doctor, I told him about the sign and he sent me to the labour ward for examination. I had read about it here so I knew what it means. The matron after examining me sent me back to the doctor who told me labour has started but considering that I'm a ftm, it will take time. He asked if I will like to be admitted and be exercising or go home and come back when labour would have really set in. I told him I would like to go home and come back later.

When I got home and told my husband who has been praying baby comes on his birthday, he was so happy and praying his wishes come true.
I quickly rem what I've read here about ewedu which was explained by madam zaynie. I brought out the ewedu from my fridge and prepare it with the twigs and extracted the juice. I poured the juice inside plastic bottle and was drinking it at interval while also praying. I also got on to a treadle machine and was exercising. I would exercise for 10 minutes, drink the ewedu juice and resting. At about 3 pm, I started experiencing pain. From what I've learnt here, it timed it and saw that the pains were far apart.This continued till 8 pm. Then it was becoming regular and more painful. I kept on with my exercise and ewedu juice. I fell asleep around past 11pm and woke up to a painful contraction at 11.30 and this time were close to another. Woke hubby and was heading to the hospital, before we drove out of our estate, my water broke! God is so great! The water keep gushing out of me.

At the hospital, the nurse immediately checked and said I was 3cm gone and that my baby was so near my jajaina. She called the doctor who examined me and said my contractions were not strong enough. Then he inserted one drug inside me that till today I don't know. Whether that was induction o I still don't know. After 15 minute, I started feeling pain that was increasing as time passed by. Mehn! Labour pain no be moimoi o.I would squeeze my hands at every contraction, hit the wall as if it should break and also hitting the hospital bed. I quickly remember I need to be holding my breath and breathe through my mouth as I've read here. My dear mamas, e no work! The pain keep increasing. One of the nurses was coming whenever I scream that I should take it easy and reserve my strength till when I will need it. At 4:30 I felt a strong feeling as if a hard poo was coming and I couldn't control it. The nurse had already warned me not to push if I feel like pooing so I shouted 'I want to poo ooo' ' I can no longer control it'. It seems they already know the time the drug was going to last because before then if I shout I want to poo they would do as if they didn't hear me. This time they came and checked me and said madam this is the time, I can see your baby's head already. She prepared my legs and told me to push only when she instructed me. At this time, I couldn't control it, I just feel like pushing. Then she said madam you are going to give yourself tear and it's more painful to stitch than the pain you are going through now. I quickly remember I've read here that Episiotomy is very painful, then I tried to control it until she said I should push. My princess popped out at the second push screaming out her lungs. Placenta was delivered and I was stitched ( Chaii! The pain is still fresh in my memory). I did drama in that hospital when I was been stitched. I was even speaking in tongue at some point. I pray all mothers live long to reap the fruits of their labour....e no easy abeg. We were moved to the ward afterwards and I couldn't stop staring at my baby. She's the most beautiful being I've ever seen. She worth all the pain of labour and delivery.

To all GTC,as God changed my story so shall He do for you all soon.

Congratulations mama... But stitching is not supposed to be painful .. They should have deaden the place to avoid the pain..

First time mum to be here! DH and I really got busy throughout the lock down Got my BFP last month and I am about 6 weeks gone now.

Already feeling overwhelmed as I was admitted in the hospital last week for malaria and only recently stopped throwing up everything I eat. In all, I am thankful for this gift that is growing within me and I could really use the support from this amazing thread.

Any other mums to be with EDD in January 2021? Our babies will be a.k.a. Corofunmilayo and Corodele
