CultureMursi Tribe Girls With Lip Plates. by Davedavy(op): 9:26pm On Aug 01, 2009
The Mursi tribe are an African tribe in Southern Ethiopia near the border with Sudan. Very few Mursi people speak Amharic which is the Ethiopian official language and most are unable to read or write. Although a small percentage of the Mursi tribe are Christians, most still practice Animism, believing that plants, animals and some inanimate objects possess spirits. Mursi tribe girls and women wear lip plates in their lower lips. The Mursi girls pierce the bottom lips which are stretched so that a clay lip plate can be inserted. In addition, this African tribe removes the bottom teeth of the girls for esthetic enhancement. Similar to the Hamer tribe, the Mursi tribe commonly drink a mixture of blood and milk as do other African tribes in the region.

TravelNigerian Embassies Abroad. by Davedavy(op): 3:28pm On Jul 29, 2009
The other day i was in Poland, I needed to visit the Nigerian embassy, I searched the net, I came out with loads of different addresses and phone numbers, I tried calling each and every one of the numbers i found and to my greatest suprice, none was the right contact number. As a result of this, I am aiming through this post, to provide the up to date links to the Nigerian high commissions and consulates abroad, I am sure this will go a long way in helping people who would find themselves in similar situations as i was. Please, add to this list. Information they say is power. Thanks.

TravelRe: Can Spainish Student Visa Enable Me To Move Freely To Other Eu Countries? by Davedavy: 5:47pm On Jul 24, 2009
Ireland is not a shengen state, therefore you need a visa to visit your brother in Dublin.Ireland and The UK have a common Travel area and the existence of this along with the UK's unwillingness to sign the Schengen Agreement, resulted in Ireland deciding not to join the Schengen Area too.Ireland will not join the shengen, except they are ready to abolish the common Travel area agreement.
TravelRe: Can Spainish Student Visa Enable Me To Move Freely To Other Eu Countries? by Davedavy: 1:07pm On Jul 24, 2009
Move as in long stay legally as a resident??or just  short stay from time to time?these are two different things. If you dont plan to stay in Spain, you will have to look for a way of legalizing your stay in any country you plan to move to as a resident  within the EU,moreover, you are allowed with your Spanish student visa to move freely within the shengen zone and stay in any shengen country for a period of 3 months legally.Which country are you looking at?cause not all the countries in EU are in shengen.

TravelRe: Please House, When Did Canada Start Greencardlottery? by Davedavy: 11:51am On Jul 24, 2009
Actually, there is no green card lottery being offered by the Canadian government, but there are numerous migration programs by the Canadian government to attract skilled workers/professionals and Entrepreneurs into Canada. To be eligible as a skilled worker/professional, you must have an offer of arranged employment, OR be a foreign national living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR be a skilled worker who has at least one year of experience in one or more of the following occupations:

Financial Managers: Computer and Information Systems Managers: Managers in Health Care: Restaurant and Food Service Managers: Accommodation Service Managers: Construction Managers: Financial Auditors and Accountants: Geologists, Geochemists and Geophysicists: Mining Engineers: Geological Engineers: Petroleum Engineers: Specialist Physicians: General Practitioners and Family Physicians: Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists: Occupational Therapists: Physiotherapists: Head Nurses and Supervisors: Registered Nurses: Medical Radiation Technologists: Licensed Practical Nurses: University Professors: College and Other Vocational Instructors: Chefs: Cooks: Contractors and Supervisors, Pipefitting Trades: Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades: Contractors and Supervisors, Heavy Construction Equipment Crews: Electricians (Except Industrial and Power System): Industrial Electricians: Plumbers: Steamfitters, Pipe fitters and Sprinkler System Installers: Welders and Related Machine Operators: Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics: Crane Operators: Drillers and Blasters – Surface Mining, Quarrying and Construction: Supervisors, Mining and Quarrying: Supervisors, Oil and Gas Drilling and Service: Supervisors, Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Processing and Utilities.

If your cousin qualifies based on the above criteria for immigration as a skilled worker, he/she should just log on to the official site of the Canadian Immigration and take the online assessment test; http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/Education.asp you need not pay any one for the assesment,it is totally free, after completing the test, if your cousin achieves a mark of 67 or higher, he/she could continue with the application with the Canadian Immigration services(CIC), just log on to the Canadian immigration website and there you will find a comprehensive information including the application forms and all you need to do. You guys don’t have to pay anyone for the assessment, it is absolutely free and it is an ongoing program. I learnt from a reliable source that  between 129,300 and 144,600 visas were  made available for 2009.

To immigrate under the second category as an Investor,Enterpreneur or Self employed.

Investor;
You must be an experienced business person and be willing to invest C$400,000 into Canada’s economy. Investors must:
show that they have business experience
have a minimum net worth of C$800,000 that was obtained legally and
make a C$400,000 investment

Entrepreneur;
You must:
show that you have business experience
have a minimum net worth of C$300,000 that was obtained legally and
respect the conditions for entrepreneurs after you arrive in Canada.

Self-employed persons are required to have either:
relevant experience that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada or
experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

Hope this help,all the best.

FamilyRe: 10,000 Edo Girls Languish In Foreign Prisons by Davedavy: 9:18pm On Jul 23, 2009
Aloy.Emeka:
10,000 Edo Girls Languish In Foreign Prisons

At least 10,000 girls from Edo State are currently languishing in Libya and Morocco prisons.

The Chairman House Committee on Diaspora, Rep. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed this when she led members of the committe on a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday.

She said that the committee members who visited the girls in the two North African countries, adding that some of them are as young as 13 and 20 years.

Dabiri-Erewa said that the girls were facing various forms of inhuman treatment and were being used as sex objects.

She added that some of them were pregnant while others had already given birth in prison.

The lawmaker urged the state government to help the girls out of their predicament, adding that it should `downplay’ the reasons why they went to the two countries.

Responding, Oshiomhole said it did not matter whether the majority of the girls were indigenes of the state or not, noting that the issue of rescue was within the purview of the Federal Government.

The governor said that the National Assembly and the Federal Government had the responsibility to appropriate funds toward ensuring that the girls were released.

He said that the insinuation that government and its agencies including National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) were handicapped in this regard was untenable.

Thousands of Nigerian girls are into prostitution in Europe, especially Italy, where they are subjected to all kinds of dehumanising treament.
