Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Davedavy: 10:58pm On Mar 14 |
Olayinkayyyyy:Could you provide a source for the information stating that the changes to open work permits for spouses of international students will start in September? Based on my understanding and the document available on the official website , https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2024/01/canada-to-stabilize-growth-and-decrease-number-of-new-international-student-permits-issued-to-approximately-360000-for-2024.html it simply mentions that "In the weeks ahead, open work permits will only be available to spouses of international students in master’s and doctoral programs," implying that the change can occur at any time following the publication of the document but has not yet begun as of today. The September deadline appears to be related to changes in the post-graduation work permit upon graduation and the eligibility for graduates of master’s degree programs to apply for a 3-year work permit. If there's a specific document that mentions September as the cutoff for the spouse open work permit for international students, I'd appreciate it if you could share it. I recently assisted someone in obtaining a visa and would like to know when they should plan to come to Canada. Regards. |

Thossiey: NAIT can evaluate your documents directly without the need for a third party like WES. You'll need to notorize the documents (copies) and send it to NAIT, that's all. |

can you deliver this in Ibadan? My land is in one the adron estates, and they only allow registered engineers to build in the estate, will this be a problem? I love your design and the cost is very affordable. |

kingthreat: Correct and if he doesn't have a friend that understands his parole,he shouldn't have used airbnb, he should have used an hotel for that parole and inform the reception to call him first before letting the lady out of the hotel. That is how I run things when I visit naija, one should be very careful. If you must use your house make sure you have someone else in the house or a security guard mounting your gate that won't allow the lady out unless he confirms you are okay. 1 Like |

opeaceo: I had to take some undergraduate Chem Engineering courses. There's definitely a cultural difference between core sciences and engineering but my experience has been positive. I got a job with the company I interned with. Once you have some experience under your belt, you are good to go. I have no idea how it works in Nigeria though. 1 Like |

I studied Industrial Chemistry in Nigeria, M.Eng in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology as well as M.Eng in Environmental Engineering from Europe. I have worked as a Quality Control Chemist, Manufacturing/Production Chemist, Environmental Chemist and presently work as a Process Engineer. Chemistry is a very broad and interesting career. I really love the environmental aspect, if you love working in the field this is for you, you'll be involved in taking measurements, interpreting data, and using computers to model chemical fate and transport. Lab work is also involved you'll analyze chemical relationships or interactions. If however you do not like outdoor and interacting with others, working as a quality control chemist or in r and d in the lab will be a better option for you. You'll need to have very good wet chemistry skills as well as ability to use most modern lab analytical instruments such as HPLC, karl fisher auto titrator, uv spectrophotometer etc. If you are in R and D lab, you will be formulating product prototypes and evaluating them for chemical and physical properties as well as scale-ups from prototype to commercial manufacture. Manufacturing/Production chemist is also a very interesting career. As a production chemist, you are responsible for production of compliant, quality products. You'll need a very good knowledge of cGMP, good knowledge of production process, technical expertise on the manufacturing process, attention to detail and proactive behaviour. Here in US, salaries for chemist typically start from $41,000 and go up to $125,450 while for a chemical engineer salaries typically start from $59,000 and go up to $157,160. 2 Likes |
