Deltamani: NFF restores World Cup bronze-winning Flamingos’ U17 technical crew
The Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation has approved the re-appointment of the technical crew of the U17 Women National Team, Flamingos, led by Coach Bankole Olowookere, which led the team to Nigeria’s first-ever podium finish at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, in India in 2022.
Thenff.com can report that the NFF Technical and Development Committee made the recommendation, which was subsequently approved by the Executive Committee.
After coming through their group stage attrition, the Flamingos had beaten the United States of America after a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals, but lost to Colombia in the semi-finals. In the third-place, the Flamingos were held to a 3-3 draw by Germany, but prevailed after a penalty shootout to win the bronze medals.
Olanrewaju Bankole Olowookere retained his position as Head Coach, just as Adanna Nwaneri (Assistant Coach), Morufu Adeyemo (Assistant Coach) and Abubakar Ndanusa (Goalkeepers’ Coach) also retained their positions.
The Flamingos will begin the race to qualify for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup with an away game against their counterparts from the Central African Republic, with the first leg scheduled for Bangui on the weekend of 2nd – 4th February, while the return leg holds at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, 10th February.
Good news.
I however hope all of them upgraded their knowledge of the game during this span of time of inactivity. We should have won that tourney if we had some better approach to KO games. But an upgrade is the best news to here. Else....
Simon Moses has no idea how the chips are high for him this Afcon. It won't be business as usual. I expect he'll be conscious of this and deliver. The focus may be off him, but personally, i never forget. We go dey expect a much better performance than the last one. Same for Samu
As for me, i believe football is too entertaining to simple have 100% players that will play to you instructions, esp when such players are key to getting results. If you have 11 robots that can't do things their own way at least for 15% of total 90mins, then wahala dey.
We need such players back at emirates. Klopp doesn't even shout like that on the touchline lately. Not even Emery. He just watches, observes and does his subs if he notices any backtracking. And he trust his small boys too.
KDB is back. All he needs is a touchline moment with Pep to hear what Pep wants to tweak. He does the rest himself. Saka and Nelli don't need to be waiting for MA to tell them to switch before they do. I believe the switching with ruin the man markings both are facing lately.
mostob: This is off-point sorry. Far from the main matter. The issue is should Arteta be excluded from future transfer dealings? Like the board should be the one buying players for him instead?
We all know he can't be excluded. Why is that even a question to start with? So it is a non-issue.
mostob: Boehly bought a lot of players for the coach, how has that ended up? You want them to sidetrack the coach who is going to develop the tactic and see how players fit in?
What some of you ain't understanding is that transfer can be hit or miss. Jesus, Zinchenko, Partey, Rice, White, Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Timber were all signed by Arteta just so you know.
Na emotional talk nothing else abeg.
You still dey tok of tactics🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shey you no go happy at least if dem spend 1bn on Arsenal in a transfer Window or two? You think Arteta no wan spend despite looking like he has players.
Give him that money and watch him get 7-9 players that will fit his so called tactics. Tactics wey carry us from 1st to 4th and 5th if we no wake up? It's not emotional talk. It is seeing things repeating despite saying you've learnt from it. You sef go happy die if boehly na Arsenal owner. But despite the 1bn available, we no go waste am compared to how Chelsea did. Fact!!
But we need it. Infact Arsenal need to have 3 windows with quality and experienced incoming for once. Goan check the windows and you'll miri for our recruitment. No consistency.
Should we complain? Totally. Who wouldn't. It is a COMPETITION.
I support any move against Morocco right now. What they do to blacks is exactly anti-rights. They do it back to back without any fear of backlash. They should take several seats back from the crowd on this one. SA or any other member should take it.
Who else dey our radar right now aside Onana of Everton? As for assessing him, na 50-50 he be to me. He might click. But he really seem intent on joining us. Till then sha. Omo. If we no careful, Spurs momentum go blow us comot that 4th o.
The way he talks is like he doesn't know what he's doing with this team.
It is an entirely different thing if these players decide to take things into their hands and make this coach look good las las. But for now, lower expectations. 1st game should show us how tactically prepared he is for the likes of senegal, Egypt and Morocco in KO stages. Till then
Bannedlargedx2: Bro, I am not South American and can’t speak for them. But, ask yourself if you have ever seen Lionel Messi or Cristiano playing street football in Lisbon or Buenos A years after becoming a professional? Or even tweeting unnecessarily and doing skits? If our players want to become revered they must realize that talent/hard work isn’t enough and they must realize that Professionalism, seriousness, dedication is equally as vital as talent if they want to have a career like Cristiano. Ronaldo has shown footballers the blueprint/epitome of longevity and success and it’s up to us to do it
Na only Cr7 and Messi waka come? Ronaldinho? Hulk? Kaka? Suarez? Pele? Forlan? Rodriguez? Eto'o? Weah? Yekini? Should i go on. Cos say those two no dey do am no mean say everyone else go follow body.
Deltamani: Marvelous Mercy Akide… Miss those Days though..
But if i may ask do we have a Winger like Vera Okolo in the team right now?? Cause After #11Vera na #7 Stella Mbachu… then maybe #17Franny Ordega Who follows?
Bannedlargedx2: Get well soon boni. I have informed our players to desist and stay away from a certain crowd when they’re ascending career wise but they don’t listen. Why would you even be playing in a low quality turf alongside your childhood friends with impunity. Do you realize the danger and implications of such? I hope that, this is a lesson to our upcoming superstars on the importance of professionalism, discipline and seriousness. Enough is enough. Get well soon boniface
Haba!!! So what do you say about the South Americans that do same and nothing happens to them? And you know they do that alot.
komekn: From my perspective loosing to Guinea 2 in a important Friendly, is good news.
From failure success is created and made.
We will go into this tournament knowing we have a lot of work to do not over confident but with dogged determination knowing any mistake will be punished.
It stops the any ego trips based on past glories.
The HARD WORK ethic will now be instilled ,no room for error
That is IF THEY FEEL THAT WAY as you just opined. If they don't, na fan analysis we just dey harp on.
Excuses some people here give for rubbish football games, they won't take such if it were their football clubsthat they support o. Is it a virus to be winning friendlies and winning in tournament proper? Is such back2back run of form a taboo for the Nigerian national teams since 2000s? Are you not tired to be the only national in Africa consistently using that silly excuse for the national team? Besides, the inference from that shows we are clowns. Yes!!
We should win friendlies is such a taboo that if we win them and can't replicate in afcon, you'll say they overdo.
If dem lose friendly and win in tournament, you'll be beating your chest that "they think say na friendly we come do here!"
Up the standards abeg. Demand more. They should be balling approximately to the standards not blowing hot and/or cold when it matters.
BlueRayDick: Okay at what point did Balogun have more prospect than Nketiah? Is it at the U-21 level for the national team or U-21 level for the club called Arsenal ?
Or it's something u just imagined and wished was true ?
both went out and we know who impressed so well. It was obvious who the better one is to me.
It gives a hint of actual readiness for afcon proper. Why wouldn't we cry? The excuse used to support this one is always the previous ones but that doesn't mean we will be lucky or it will happen again that we have to start accepting it as Our Norm. Naaaah.
So you didn't know he's from our Academy being recalled from loan?
Na why I started with "Lmaoooo" na
We need Striker, dem dey call Biereth wey Balogun even make name pass am 10x.
Very soon we go soon call back Moller (abi wetin be him name again)
Guy i had no idea that na our academy guy sef. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think say na signing. Until i checked further. Smh. Who is Mauro Bandeira again? Another loanee recalled or just training. Make they kukuma recall Patino.
