The standards at this AFCON are pretty high.

One can understand why our world cup qualifiers are tough even with the expanded groups.

Nacho looks like the player to produce a sublime strike in this squad.
Aina too. Looks too unlikely for Iwobi. Dunno why he hates doing so lately. Caf should just maintain the standard abeg. In coming years, I'll gleefully be among those that laugh at those that give AFCON football that physical tag as foremost identity.

There has been 11 goals of the tournament in my reckoning so far. More than half being Screamers.

Super Eagles, abeg join the list tomorrow. Let's see screamers too. Please. We know you can do it.
Who saw that RVP World Cup goal replica? Omo!! Var shapali had sense and allowed it stand. Mauritania i think. I love the goals in this Afcon. Especially those with sleek, fast buildup.

Last 3 Falconets set have been super poor with cross and nod. That aspect needs thorough drills and focus. At this developmental stage, they should be doing the basics with burying cross now. 🥴

They better find better legs.

Danjuma wha be like Shareholder for the NFF, even with his previous poor records with the U20 and the SuperFalcons he still manages to get the job..

To me he’s the worstest U20 coach ever with the caliber of players available.. Have never been impressed with his coaching style.! Peter Dedevbo who finished 2nd in 2014 World Cup edition and later in 2016 eliminated on the group stage on goal difference was a better Coach..

Edwin Okon is also better..
This captain, what's her name pls?

If it's down to prority and the issue of no injury, I'll take Eze or Olise 10x.

I see Eze as a player who'll play well where other good players are by his side. He just needs that promotion
Dunno why others are saying they don't want him. That guy in an Arsenal XI would create loads of chances b2b without sweat. Same for Olise. Plus both are EPL proven. With him we would really be rotating XI properly, especially as he can play Odegaard role too. Anyways.... we dey do like Kai na upgrade 😂😂😂😂😂

Please Eze should stay far away from this team, that unserious player
I'll take him over Kai if it comes to the Left side. Besides he can even deputize Odegaard. Yeah he is unserious sometimes, but his talent is not in doubt. I can imagine his game improving under Arteta's tutelage. Also good at freekicks.

But if is down to priority, I'll take Olise so Saka can rest.

Our build up is too slow and not incisive enough in the final 3rd. We pass and dibble ourselves out of dangerous scoring situations. I’d like to see quick decisions, especially during counter attacks.
Just seeing this

Glad we saw what we wished for in this game. Jorg doing what Partey does for Nelli was a joy to behold. My greatest thrill is the catch up with Goal Difference. We need it. We need to sustain that too. Although this is Palace, but we outplayed them.

Shebi if Martinelli dey play direct like this all the time e for make sense 🤷🏼‍♂️
It will depend on the person releasing passes too. Pace os his strongest suit. We should take advantage of it and leave the dribbling duty to when Trossard plays. For now he is gone in 1v1 situations. Let's keep releasing him that way and see how many goals he'd get. White was good today 👏🏿👏🏿
Saka needs his own hack. But competition still needed. If he dey bench dey watch his competition doing sweet finishing or end result, his head will come correct and for the better. Make Arteta continue dey read our thread abeg 😂
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by daveP(m): 3:39pm On Jan 20, 2024
E for good if we get this Eze for squad depth. 😀

Now Nelli being released the way De Bruyne released Bobb is exactly the kind i want to see b2b. No romancing ball, just look and drop the thing. The forwards delivered, except Saka. He does need competition. Although he started the counter of 4th goal sha. But that's impressive vision from Nketiah.

Trossard
Jesus
Nketiah
Nelli
With sweet contribution as forwards.

We need to see this style more often. Where the goalscorer gets subbed off to rapturous applause and the sub delivers G/A too. Sad to see Palace going through what we were going through a decade ago-ownership issues and not replacing Zaha. They should sell Eze and Olise and get good players from the cash.

Baba Roy should goan rest too. His tactics worked a lil but he should go rest.

Odegaard should stop these romancing and move the ball quicker, our build up is slow. See how White opened up Saka earlier, that is how we should be attacking.
See that chance at 12th minute. That counter ball. There was space to shoot at goal but a pass to Saka was the next move. I trust Xhaka and Partey in such spots. Keeper go hearam from distance. The quick moves is helping. No delay. That's what we need to see better Saka and White.

Ben White style no go koba us one day. E sha dey work for now. But ucl won't give the goal with that style.

So Gabu fes everyone score brace this season? 😆
See why i like Trossard? See how he easily identifies Saka with accurate long balls. Nelli can never. Those chipped passes by Kai and Zinny are sweat. More of that. I noticed Rice is playing deeper than expected. That's freeing up Odegaard. What a relief.

Biereth was not called back to make the first team in the first place.

Toney is manageable please. Aside missing chances, Osimhen's injury record is also worrisome. We have Jesus who is only fit every Eke market day. You want us to add Osimhen join? Haba
Make Toney get his 30+ goals fes na. Make he enter balon dor top 10 too. There's no fully clinical striker. The best miss loads of chances but bury alot too that makes their missed chances swept aside. We should not wait for this guy to get to Chelsea and start swadloads of regret. For now, the gap is far. In theory naim we dey make the said Toney look good. In practical, make we bring both and see the gap. Till then.

We really need to get multiple goalscorer vs Bissau. Just 2 goals, vital though. 1 from open play. Phew. I know they can do it sha. But conceding vs Bissau should be a crime IMO. We can't do all that to Civ and then allow Bissau get a goal.

Tactics and formation determine the potency of a team attack.
Our formation of 532 when off the ball and 343 when with the ball would not yeild more than 2 goal. Cote d' Ivoire is a good team.
Good team nibo?

Not even about this win we just got. Their defense is not it. Their potent attack has masked the true nature of their defense over the last 11months. We could only get a goal and defended it. We ought to score 4 if individuals were less selfish. In such counter situations, releasing the ball when you see movement is the most important decision at such moment that Osayi and Chuks wasted. Playing like Kai Havertz by going further left instead of a chip pass.

We held on tight. The tactics worked. Looks like the 1st ever that worked under Peseiro. Iwobi gassed out but did well with his zonal. I'm pissed at Chuks and Osayi for those chances missed. Tueh to both of their foolishness that moment. Infact Simon helped this team in this game more than Chuks. Wetin sef?

That aside, they have some stans that make those that complain about such situations look like disloyal or pessimistic. These stans so preach luck and chance like asif it is our birthright. So they downplay what they ought not to and are MIA when the inevitable happens. No serious team relies on luck to do it ALWAYS. They put in the work and avoid embarrassment where necessary.
