Mktinsight, I applaud your energy in debating complete idiots and presenting hard facts. Unfortunately some of the people in this thread are precisely why we cannot develop, they are the ones that get handed a bag of rice and sell their souls. Seems they can't take simple criticism that points to a truth we all know, it's ridiculous. There are many developments that could be done in Anambra, an airport is not the most important, nevertheless it is certainly not useless. 6 Likes |

Properties / Re: Nigeria Needs To Incorporate Traditional Styles Into Public Architecture by Daverytimes(m): 5:09am On Dec 11, 2020 |
A new generation of architects are popping up not just in Nigeria but all over Africa, and slowly you are seeing African influenced architecture. We have been stuck in the colonial mindset for a lot of things and are just beginning to find our own identity, so just give it time, a lot of traditional style housing with a modern twist will start popping up. 25 Likes |

sholay2011: Lol, I cannot recognize good acting. I love when random internet people that don't know who they are talking to starts telling that person what they can and cannot recognize. If you enjoyed her acting then that's perfectly fine, but it's not worth it to discuss anything with you when you say she "did an almost perfect job". To call that statement laughable would be an insult to laughable statements. 3 Likes |

The movie needed a better lead actress, I think in Nigeria we could have found a lead actress that would better translate the emotions of the character. This movie sorely needed the main actress to display that emotion and temi was not capable of that. I don't know how the selection was made, nor who provided the funding for the movie, I just hope she did not get the role due to nepotism, though it's no better if she was chosen based on her acting ability, as that would imply that the people handling auditions have no clue what good acting looks like. Overall I would say the movie was beautifully shot the cinematography was good, colours where not vibrant but was well suited to the theme of the movie, music choice was questionable but acceptable. Sound mixing was hit and miss, and overall atmosphere was acceptable. 10 Likes |

Deathstroke00: When people like you consider it unpatriotic to say that Nigeria should not invite foreign powers to conduct military operations inside our borders but rather build up our own power, I start to wonder if any of you actually knows what being patriotic means. Patriotic definition: having or expressing devotion to and vigorous support for one's country. Between me, that doesn't want any foreign country operating their military in our country and you all who are celebrating another country conducting military operations inside our borders, Who is more patriotic. You all are the ones that will sell your country and call those who are telling you not to do so unpatriotic, what a load of nonsense. 11 Likes |

kabe1: 1. What kind of stupid argument is this? I told you that they hadn't operated in the country and you are telling me that their military aid to Egypt is essentially the same as operating inside the country, what? you honestly cannot be serious. Maybe educate yourself as to the reason the United States provides military aid to Egypt and then come back. 2. They have shown to be competent enough to rise to such challenges and as i said, the united states has not operated within their borders (Note how you could not dispute what i wrote, instead, you chose to make excuses) 3. I myself cannot actually believe you just wrote that, confirms your complete lack of any understanding of military affairs. Stick to posting photos and defending the Nigerian military. 4. Once again, a complete failure in retorting my point, you rather choose to diverge and make useless points. I told you there was a difference between having bases in an allys country (AS A DETERRENT AGAINST AN ENEMY) and Operating in said country, and your response is that "If the countries in Europe can guarantee their own security, the US will not need to have military bases there"? Again, what does that have to do with the United States carrying out operations within the borders of these countries? (And you think that if Europe chose to that they could not guarantee their own safety?) My lord, fact-based argument? your article is supposed to convince me on a point i never disputed? You consistently side skirt what am talking about, you make other points that i never mentioned, then you post sources to support your point and then declare yourself the fact finder. A lot more ignorant points in your post but i really don't have the time, so carry on. For those who only read bolded, HE NEVER ASKED FOR EVIDENCE. And certainly nothing I posted needed to be cited. 7 Likes |

kabe1: I need a lengthy response to this but 2 things stop me, time and the fact that whatever I say is unlikely to change any opinion you hold. Nevertheless, here is a summary. The US budget is not an indicator of its might (certainly it paints a picture that is far too simplistic and incomplete) when making an argument of a countries military, you should steer clear of using budget as some holy grail of measurement. You seem to lack an understanding of having military bases in the country of an ally (usually as a deterrent against an enemy) and conducting military operations in said country. The United States does maintain a lot of bases around the world but they are all in countries that they are allied with (obviously, but I thought it needed to be mentioned). The U.S, rarely if ever, conduct military operations inside the borders of its allies (The Phillipines today hardly constitutes an ally considering the actions of duterte) The United States with or without government approval has not conducted any military operations inside Egypt or South Africa, the other two big nations in the continent. Why? Because their security services are competent enough to tackle issues that arise inside their borders without the need for outside assistance. The United States CANNOT conduct a military operation on any country it wants, that statement is either hyperbolic (giving you the benefit of the doubt) or grossly ignorant. Nigeria is a non aligned country, if we started inviting global powers, whenever their citizens are abducted, to conduct operations you begin to lose respect, your autonomy is slowly chipped away and slowly but surely your country becomes their playground. We cannot afford to let countries start operating withing the borders of our country. If you have any patriotic bone in your body it will equally make you feel ashamed, from what I see however I don't think that's you. IGpro1: I do sometimes wonder if you guys loyalty lies to the country of Nigeria or to the military, because the posts you all make is sometimes baffling (just a general observation that is not based on your particular comment) 11 Likes |

kabe1: With or without the consent of the Nigerian government or the corporation of the Nigerian military, I did not think I will see the day were Nigeria will become yet another country that the USA conducts operations in. We are running down the route of Pakistan and it is shameful. If there is any pride left in this country we should build up our services to handle any and all manner of threats instead of inviting a foreign power (regardless of whether their citizen is involved) I really am ashamed of the whole thing. 13 Likes |

Am glad we are finally purchasing in quantity military gear, however, there does seem to be a creeping dependence on Chinese weaponry that i am not comfortable with. Before it becomes too late we need to diversify, get from the Russians, and the Turks. Standardization is a good thing when you produce your own weapons, it is a hindrance when all your gear is produced by another nation. |
