Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Talks To Me In A Disrespectful Manner by david290(m): 1:55pm On Feb 19, 2019
jaxxy:

A gal who can’t take correction has no good traits don’t waste ur time. I’m not saying she will stop bt making effort to reduce her overly insultive mouth will go along way to show she’s maturing.

Also it depends on what u can take. I can’t stand insultive people, if I like her we may date for the fun bt marriage will not even be close to an option. In other words if she can’t change now dump her rude ass unless u can tolerate it with no complains. Goodluck
Thank you for pointing this out. Disrespectul or not, I personally will never get involved with a person who hates correction or lacks a teachable spirit. The Op does not even know he has a bigger issue at hand. I have a firsthand experience. Dad and mom are clever dicks - neither will ever agree to be in the wrong. Their marriage is over three decades but so far growth has been very slow (if there is any at all). Should it not be for their religious inclination, I can almost bet my left ball their marriage wouldn't have lasted one week.
And to all ye "no one is perfect crew." Maybe it is a Nigerian thing I wouldn't know. But let me say that it is not all the time that people leave their partner only to meet someone who is worse off. And what happens to constantly improving ourselves instead of always looking for someone who will "love us for who we are?" Perfection may not be achievable but at least we can try.

You simply ask a reputable member on this thread who has a track record of successful sales, deals, trades etc. and of handling escrows for other people to act as one.

You and the seller/buyer agree on terms of the transaction.

After confirming the chosen escrows details Either one of you asks the escrow to assist and you loop them in on the terms of your deal.

You create a WhatsApp group with all involved parties and acknowledge the agreed upon terms to the escrow supervising the trade.

You/the buyer sends the naira equivalent to the escrow's own bank account as a guarantee & insurance to the seller/buyer.

Seller/buyer sends you the paypal, skrill, payoneer, neteller, gift card or bitcoin etc as well as proof of payment, you confirm receipt of it and the escrow releases the naira to the seller/buyer after getting a final approval from the depositor.

Straightforward, Safe, Fast with no useless stories or excuses involved.

Detailed and very helpful. Thanks. Out of necessity (I have a small Paypal fund I want to sell), do you act as an Escrow or know forum members who do? Or, better yet, are there forum members with whom you have had successfully transactions?

Thank you. I would have done this earlier but I lacked proof, only suspicion. His moniker was the first suscept. I proceeded regardless since I know I am kind of protected given the transfer option I am using. Somehow he said his account is not receiving the fund, that I should grant him access to my Paypal account. This happened just yesterday.

Don't know if this belongs here but...
I had worked for an agency whose method of payment was Paypal. It was my first time receiving funds via Paypal and because I didn't have a Paypal a/c, I used my friend's. My friend has acknowledged payment but when I got in contact with an exchanger, he said he only buys from a Paypal a/c that uses Family and Friends as against one that uses Goods and Services. (I didn't know until now that my friend's Paypal can only transfer as Goods and Services, and I honestly do not understand the difference between the two either). Anyone here sold Paypal funds from a Paypal a/c that sells as Goods and Services? How did you do it--or, better yet, who did you sell to? Thanks

Business / Re: How Old Were You When You Made Your First Million?, And How? by david290(m): 12:45am On Nov 19, 2018
The10thMan:
Was 26.

Graduated school in 2004. Then applied for various jobs. Any that was available. I needed seed capital for my dream. I recall trekking Trans Amadi in PH dropping CVs to companies. Many oil and gas servicing firms. I even went to Primary and Secondary Schools to look for teaching jobs. Come see shakara untop my 4.01 Second Class Upper. cheesy But I couldn't be bothered. I knew I needed to get a job first, then raise seed capital even if I wanted to start a business. Background was humble and family was just managing. Wrote various aptitude tests for banks like Intercontinental, other banks, Freisland, Diageo, LNG, etc. and another one with an Oil and Gas Agency. First Job was with a bank. Old Generation Bank still existing today. Got a job as a Banking Assistant Graduate Trainee. Went to Lagos for 1 month training and posted to the Eastern Part of Nigeria. While in the bank in 2007, the Oil and Gas Agency finally called. Their recruitment took super long. Left First Bank like crazy. Salary in the Bank was 59,000 back then. One of the lowest paying.

In my new job, housing allowance alone was back then was 1.6 Million annually. Salary about 200k monthly. Not to mention hazard, offshore, etc. allowances. I was 26. I recall I called up my friends in the bank and jokingly told them they are all small boys.. grin grin grin grin .Finances have never gone below 1 million naira. Savings alone with Work Staff Cooperative Society is multiple millions. ONE IMPORTANT THING IS I KEPT MY LIABILITIES AND EXPENSES LOW and still do. Never believed in the ''I need to upgrade so people know I have arrived'' mentality. Acquired 4 properties. 2 Lagos and 2 back home. Built first house in Lagos.Added two shops to the front section. Completed and rented all flats and shops out. I still live in a rented apartment.

However, money in the bank and dormant salary/income doesn't bring returns. Money is a messenger and money doesnt like being idle. You need to send it on good errands to bring more money, and the cycle continues. Also, there is time value of money and money depreciates. With all these at the back of my mind, I urgently needed to transfer a lot of my finances into assets that will generate income. This is still my biggest challenge today. I focused on greatly on developing my skills and myself professionally in my area of expertise. I eventually set up a Consulting Firm/Company in my area of expertise with freelance workers. I read a lot, pay for courses myself. Coupled with work sponsored courses. I love to read about wealth creation and financial intelligence. I have a crazy collection of over 20 books. Kiyosaki, Trump, etc. I love watching Grant Cardone, Tai Lopez etc. on Youtube at my spare time just for encouragement. My job is still there by Gods grace. Consulting firm is growing strong. Now Consult for both Upstream and Downstream Companies. Trying my best to brand the company with a good website, good band image etc. Currently, I have the desire to open a conglomerate to diversify to various sectors. Picture Dangote Group. Called up a lawyer for advice. I intend to go into a lot of business ventures. I needed daily revenue so currently planning to open a lounge/cafe/bar and plaza anywhere after Ajah Axis in Lagos. Searching for property currently. My Consulting brings money but you have to chase contracts and bids etc. Plus, contracts dont come easy. Also, price war between contractors drives down profit margins a lot. Need something with daily returns so thought I should open my own Lounge/Bar/Cafe with a small plaza for sharwama, asuun, nkwobi, fried potatoes etc. That is my next project. Also, intend to follow Grant Cardone's idea-''build multi-family dwelling housing instead of single units''. Intend to do this with the other land in Lagos.

ONE BIG MISTAKE I MADE WAS NOT LISTENING TO MY LATE MUM. She forces all her kids to learn a vocation/a skill regardless of how highly educated you are. Personally, she wanted me to learn welding. I felt I was too educated for it. Perhaps by now I would have been constructing Sky scrappers and handling huge projects with my current knowledge and exposure.

GRATEFUL

Posted a few diagrams to educate people in a glimpse.
Eventually when you go www with your consulting business and peradventure you encounter issues with getting organic traffic to your website and/or qualifying leads, feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to contribute my experience, skills and expertise. Good luck with your projects.

I think it helps if you avail prospective applicants with more info about this role. That way, only qualified applicants would be sending in their applications. Thus making it easier managing the applications and selecting the best fit for your job.

Information they say is Power. I do read Bamideles' blog, he showed us some freelance site aside fiverr, upwork that pays writers $50 per article or even per hour self.

The 20% charge on Upwork and Fiverr make it looks like slavery to me.

How can you struggle to earn $1000, and they'll deduct a whole $200..Too much!

The guy is good.
"Upwork doesn't just look 'like' slavery," it's actually slavery! On top of all the BS they shove down writers throat, they'll still go ahead and ban your account for crazy reasons like not having "enough qualifications," or hide your profile for pitching and not getting hired.
Need to be clear though - I don't have a thing against Upwork. Just a heads up to newbies that a lot has changed on Upwork since this thread was created.

So, to add my little unsolicited opinion to the discourse...
First off, Fidel should without further delay pay up his writers.
And writers... look before you leap. Understand that the nature of our work put us at the recieving end (kind of) and leaves us with little to no recourse.
Few tips:
* Go easy with work with crazy deadlines
* Do some background check. If the moniker of the person posting the job is only a few days, months old - cricket number one. Now, copy that moniker and type this search string "is [insert the job poster profile name] a scammer + nairaland" into Google. If at the very least you found people discussing or insinuating that the job poster has multiple accounts... there you have it.
* One work, one pay - don't ever work in batches (or at least until trust has been built). If you turnaround and your hirer tries to hoodwink you into doing another work without paying for the first saying that it's only on this basis you can get your pay, decline, thank him/her, and move on. Also, never agree to be paid at the end of the month!
* Though unrelated - but if you can show your hirer live samples of your work and they still insisted on a "test article" - that test article should be paid for, especially if it's above hundred words.

It's a pity that some Nigerians will stop at nothing to defraud others. Yet we are wondering why we have such terrible leaders.

To all those taking outsourced jobs please be careful. Also try to venture out on your own.

1. Create an online presence with your work. A blog or personal website goes a long way.
2. Volunteer to write for websites for free but with your name mentioned as the author.
3. Register your own Upwork account and point clients to samples of your work when submitting proposals.

The process may take time but the rewards are endless.
While your points 1 and 2 were absolutely spot on, your point 3 though. Any serious writer having perfectly executed points 1 and 2 should avoid Upwork.
What I'll suggest as a replacement to Upwork include:
* Job boards like problogger and freelancewritinggigs.com.
* Joining relevant Facebook groups. Pro tip: join less of writers group but more of marketer and entrepreneur groups.
* Get published on authority and high trafficked websites like Entrepreneur and Forbes.
* Start pitching companies that fit into your ideal client profile.
* If you know credible writers like Bamidele or Emenike - friend them. These guys may not frequently outsource but you never know.
That mentioned, I'd say preference asterik 1 and 4. Executing them can be a pain in the ass at the start - but if you succeeded on Upwork - I can bet you'll succeed with those two client hunting tactics, too.

Religion / Re: Poverty In Nigeria Vs Richest Pastors In Nigeria - By Alawode-James Jumoke by david290(m): 10:36pm On Jun 29, 2018
kolawoleibukun2:
oga you care well well. the thing the babe talk pain you. truth hurts. the worst thing you do is ask another person to shut up for exercising the right that millions fought and died for. if you cannot take the heat and then drop the beat. the politicians are the same pastors she is talking about. Is Osinbanjo not the vice president? abi is he not a pastor?
stop this stupid attracting curses. to curse God and to curse man which one better pass? who she curse? and telling people that it is not a must to pay tithe is a big fat lie. tithing and all those levies in the church are mandated. people are made to believe that they are robbing God and they wont make heaven if they do not pay tithe. if you do not care about talks like this do not comment on it. waka pass am. your pastors have free airtime preaching on TV let her use her IG to air her own preaching. people need to speak up and sanitize this church that has been held hostage by criminals. look all those old men committing the worst atrocities in the world.
you are using fear factor to shut her up. which one be attract curses. who won curse am? your pastor na God? which power him won take curse person? no pastor can curse anybody in this world except he use juju. God does not answer that kind of prayers. make una gerrout na una day encourage this old men to continue making Christianity a laughing stock.
You tried. But I honestly think the energy you put into replying that guy should have gone into something more deserving. Him and his ilks if you ask me don't deserve your time.
As you can see, prior to your comment, the lame points him and his entourage were giving is that nobody is being forced to pay their tithe and that growing the economy is the sole responsibility of the gov't.
Then you and a couple other guys came with counter points, part of which is the fact that our VP, a pastor, is part of the gov't. I mean this current gov't!
And then again someone pointed how some churches often insist on not joining the couple unless all tithes are paid in full - a case in point of which I've had a near firsthand experience.
Interestingly, however, you'll notice how the Sheeples avoided your counter points. Or for the few who did replied, they started displaying unnecessary emotions.
But this thing I strongly believe though, is that the truth lies with everyone of us - including the truth about how tithes were collected and utilized in the bible for the benefit of all members of the local church.
