Family / Re: Marrying Financially Stable One Or The One You Love? by david290(m): 7:48pm On Dec 15, 2020
Is your guy jobless because he has never been able to secure a job or was his joblessness as a result of him resigning or being sacked from a previous job? If yes, how many jobs has he left or being sacked from? Is his joblessness as a result of not being able to find 'suitable' jobs or because he has no marketable skill? If he's skilled, what's stopping him from launching or at least getting a job to at least keep body and soul together? Could his location also be a contributing factor?
Without knowing what caused a man to be jobless at 35 and the steps the guy or you have taking with regards to the situation it's hard to give a balanced input. Even more, honest answers to those questions will reveal the true state of the guy's predicament - and whether you should be talking about love or taking your leave.

I 100% agree with this. Your public outlook is very important in the music business. Only talent cant get you there. No one is saying you should stop being gay but could you tone down the "everyone hates me a little" and "I'm gay a little". Let's hear your pain and everyone hates me through your music and not in interviewsThe people that don't accept you would probably never do and those that love the artistry and don't care for what the artiste does in their privacy are also there. She is a very good artiste with good writing and vocals. Do you know someone else who went through big issues earlier in their career?

...superstar ASA. Go and read all the issues she faced with Question Mark record label earlier in her career.
While she claimed in another update that things had been sorted with her boss, I personally think those interviews/outbursts were unnecessary to start with. Also, I don't know if she has a manager but she needs one right now. She needs to be groomed and constantly reminded the effect her actions/inactions could have on her career. She needs to learn what questions to answer/ignore, when, and how. And like you rightly mentioned in your comment - lady has got to tone down on social media and talks about her sexuality/sexual orientation and focus 100% on her musical career.

Our paths casually crossed 2012 at Lautech medical center. Young, innocent-looking lady back then but her pics now...wow, really something isn't right. Temmie I think you got distracted. Feminism, Lesbianism, gangsterism... I know you're a Nairalander and will likely see this comment. Please recalibrate and stay focused on your career. Shun unhealthy lifestyle too. Involve professionals if need be. All the best.

Young players who don't know what to prioritize and lacking self discipline. Just like Jovic who should be working to rebuild his dying career but instead chose to host a party for his girlfriend. Or a Sterling who would rather prefer pictured with a thot than work on his clinical abilities. This is the reason we would never see another Messi or Ronaldo anytime soon.

I just hope OGS watched Inter's game and learned few lessons from a winning manager like Conte. Even at the 90th minute, and with his team leading 5 - 0, he was still on the touchline giving instructions... not sitting down crossing legs.

Too many unseriousness, indiscipline, below-average and entitled players in that squad. I also think the fans should begin to question the agenda of the board for hiring a coach that lack zero winning mentality. A Fred losses ball and starts smiling and you're sitting on the bench? A Rashford starts dribbling in the box like it's a friendly and you did nothing, said nothing? What about his subs that didn't come until the 86th minute? The players knew what they were doing when they pushed Mou out - they never wanted a manager with balls!

Marry someone you aren't sexually attracted to (either because the one you are attracted to isn't ready or financially capable). Wait until you have something to manipulate him with (usually kids). Their way, their world. For the Op's friend, I wish him plenty of luck cos he will need it.

I'm so sorry you experienced that. Sadly this is mostly the case in Nigerian marriages. People who celebrate our low divorce statistics are failing to acknowledge that a lot of people are actually stranded in their marriages due to financial dependency, religious reasons and fear of stigma. I can count on one hand the number of older Nigerian couples that I know that have good marriages, most are hot messes with tales of abuse, infidelity, family drama, blackmail and unhappiness. On the other hand in the US we have a much higher rate of divorce but for the people that choose to stay together you can tell that the marriage is a real functioning marriage with both couples trying their best.
It is a serious issue. It neither helps that our hypocritical lifestyle in this part of the world isn't helping matters. Add that to the massive brainwashing through religion. At the end of the day, it's all man to himself. If in the 21st century someone still allows what their ancestors wrote in an ancient book decide how they live their life... well that isn't my problem. For my parents, I already gave them social distancing to allow me to focus on my life. Appreciate your time and concern.

She has a point. If we viewed marriage as something that can be undone it can potentially make partners work to keep each other happy. I don't think it's healthy to say marriage is forever, anything you see there just take it. We should ideally work on the relationship to the point where your partner is saying yes to you everyday, and vice versa. Don't take each other for granted because of a marriage certificate.
You get it. I came from a family where dad and mom have been blackmailing each other for over three decades. Dad knows mom can't leave and mom knows dad can't leave due to religious leanings. Myself and siblings have settled fight tire. At different times in my life I have felt like may be if there had been a renewal or something, it would have at least kept them on their toes and they wouldn't be taking each other for granted.

Seriously go back to sch to do what exactly? There is nothing to really learn in sch. I spent 5 yrs in uni and I never really learn anything. I mean I didnt learn anything that wld make my life better after sch.

Most Nigeria school don't teach jack. You just learn to cram stuffs and pass exam.

I didnt even learn how to speak better English in uni. I learnt to speak good bfor I went to uni.
You get it bro. It's the same for me too. This is what we have been trying to make them understand. I can't even fathom that someone will say the importance of going to school (over making money) is to 'boost ones pride'. As if pride will feed or make one lead a comfortable life. A lot of youths have been mislead as a result - so mislead that when they finish NYSC and can't find jobs, they still get advised to go for Masters. The thing is education is great, but to start with education isn't what is obtainable in most tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Career / Re: School Or 6 Digits Income Per Month? by david290(m): 11:56am On Jun 18, 2020
Certificate obsessed Nigerians... But really I can't understand why I would spend close to a million naira for tertiary education and you tell me the only thing I can get in return is exposure, confidence. Like, seriously? Y'all would soon understand when you leave school that passion and confidence feeds no one.
At Op, my advice is combine the two if you can. If you can't, stick to your money making.
Family / Re: When Is The Right Time To Tell Him/Her Of A Child From Previous Relationship? by david290(m): 8:17am On Jun 18, 2020
Don't let anybody blackmail you with words like 'real love', 'understanding', 'maturity' and 'serious'. You are not responsible for anyone's past. I have two cousins who have three kids from previous relationships. Another thing I want to mention is that even you decide to go ahead, you're in the best position if the babymama/babydaddy is dead. Lots of people in this generation aren't strong willed/disciplined enough to keep ex as ex.
Education / Re: Advice Needed: Is Going To The University Worth It Anymore? by david290(m): 3:56pm On Jun 01, 2020
I can only speak of myself, but if I could turn back the hand of time, I wouldn't waste seven years of my life. Education is indeed worth it, but 'schooling' is what is going on in most public tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Whatever you decide on, skill up, like others have rightly mentioned.

Education / Re: Does First Class Degree Guarantee One A Job? by david290(m): 7:06pm On May 10, 2020
From a firsthand experience, first class in Nigeria universities (fed & state especially) isn't as straightforward as is often projected. There are lots of factors beyond one's control. Missing script, for one. Not only that, given what is being taught in most Nigerian universities, writing as someone who passed through this same system, I'm sorry to report that I can't hire myself to replicate the same obsolete, impractical and isolated knowledge that I spent five years pursuing. Businesses/employers at the very least want someone who can help them increase revenue, block wastages, solve problems, etc. Needless to mention that majority of our public institutions aren't equipping their products with these competencies.
During my days as an undergrad I paid 50:50 attention to study and skill and graduated with a 2/1 with eight years of experience in my area of expertise (totally unrelated to my course of study). Looking back, I wished I had paid my skills 75% and my studies 25%. This is because I'm not job-hunting; I'm doing what I love plus my skill and expertise is creating value, which means I'm earning fairly decently; best of all, I have job security.

For those claiming the woman is innocent: Someone asked on page 2 if the policewomen the woman was alleged to have bitten, bite her too, but till now this question has not received an answer. Well Kavanaugh case has thought me that the head of a lot of men has been twisted. But do remember today the tomorrow you are creating for your yourself, son, uncle, brother, nephew and father, because yesterday some men like y'll created a world whereby only a woman can get justice; a world where the only victim of rape are women; a world where a woman can allege anything without evidence, including false rape, without consequences; a world where it's only a woman who can give consent for sex.

HOPELESSS:
I bet we all desire to live long, grow old and have a beautiful life with family and friends around us. Mine is different, I am hopeless and jinxed and nothing has worked for me in my over 3 decades of living. Maybe life is not worth it after all. Maybe it's only a ruse and farce. I have been depressed for far too long and I have been strong to hang on for too long. I am not just sure I can do this again.
Are you open to discussing this? Can I pm you?
Crime / Re: Daughter Sues Mum Over Rape Allegation Against Dad by david290(m): 12:46pm On Feb 22, 2020
Rather unfortunate that a serious issue as rape has become a tool in the hands of some women to have their ways. I have always maintained that false rape accusations should attract the same punishment as rape. We need to protect the real rape victims.

Family / Re: Should I Keep Enduring In This Supposed Marriage? by david290(m): 6:34pm On Dec 19, 2019
Key highlights as obtained from comments tread 1 to 12:
1. Men who don't marry ALL end up lonely at old age.
2. Broken marriage is the reason children from broken homes end up the way they do.
3. People who moved from their toxic and chaotic relationships ALL ended up with even more terrible partners.

Op, I don't have any advice for you, seeing I'm not married. I just hope those negative stereotypes and evil manipulations up there don't leave you worse off.

move to where exactly?

Don't mind me for asking, I'm a newbie at Upwork and it hasn't been easy. Almost a month now, still nothing.
Truth is, all the freelancing platforms don't give a damn about their freelancers. It's even worst because even if there are platforms that want to care, they quickly get bought over (an example is Fiverr's recent acquisition of ClearVoice).
Since you asked me, I'd say you should move away completely from freelancing platforms and go solo. I mean, go and find your own clients! Nobody's saying it's going to be easier, but it's more rewarding.

Personally, 20% Upwork fee + withdrawal fee + $0.15/connect = ridiculous! On top of that, Upwork will still "hide" a freelancer's profile if s/he fail to earn on their platform after a period of time!
My opinion though, but I think any serious freelancer should have moved already--except of course they've a VERY high-end, in-demand skill.

Romance / Re: Controversy As Legal Child Sex Dolls Now Available In The UK by david290(m): 7:39pm On Mar 04, 2019
Fear minds who always read negativity to everything.
The fact remains, the popular capital punishment for convicted paedophilias around the world, which is prison sentence, has not yielded the desired result.
I'd think it is against this background that some people came up with the idea of the dolls. And maybe true or not, they claimed that these dolls can help keep paedophilic tendences in check. They even went ahead to provide testimonials from customers. And who knows, they could have data/study to support their claims to have been backed by the law? All critical angles from which we should be looking at this issue. But typical of my people, who always make judgement based on sentiment and emotions - they will rather "speculate" that the dolls will promote paedophilic tendencies.
