Jobs/Vacancies › Re: If You Don't Have A Job, Where Do You Go To? by dawnomike(m): 8:50am On Jan 12, 2025 |
YourBestWriter: So I lost my job December, and I have purposed in my heart never to tell my wife. The reason is because I don't want a situation where I get to regret telling her because of disrespect.
The thing is... I will still be depending on my savings until I get a new job, but I don't want to be staying at home as a jobless man.
So please can you suggest for me the various places where I can go to spend time perhaps from 8am to 5pm daily? I don't want to appear as being jobless to my wife.
Please any suggestions please. I am aware of how the society deal apprehensively to jobless grown men, so please be calculative in your suggestions. Thank you. In as much as I understand your point, it just makes sense you tell her so that she can adjust her expectations this period to the reality. A family should have unity of purpose. So, I expect her to support you this period with the necessary encouragements you need. |

drstranged: So I had always heard and read news about people like Dangote, Musk and their likes losing billions of dollars within a day. I never really believed such stories until it happened to me yesterday. So I had invested in some stocks in the US stock exchange and the profits were rolling in, in millions of naira equivalent per day, especially after the Trump election victory. I had invested in some QC stocks. Just yesterday, I checked my stock performance and discovered that I was losing money fast as the stock prices of QC had crashed. I lost a total of #14m in one hour! I heard it was because of the negative statement made by the CEO of NVIDIA about that particular stocks. Twas really a sad day for me. Sorry about that... We gain some, we lose some! |

My parents are now demanding that I breakup the relationship with her and never see her again.
The issue now is I love my girlfriend so much and I know she loves me back too and we have been dating for 4 years now so letting her go is really hard.
I need all your inputs on how to navigate this situation. Thanks in advance. Make your decision and stand by it if you're sure she's worth it!!!.. Love alone is not enough |

bigpicture001: Mine is my Dad put me through, it was a two hours fearful ordeal.. he taught me at age 10, we practically crossed the road that day more than 30times..he taught me the following:
1. How to look before I cross
2. How to monitor lanes of vehicles
3. How to guage the speed of a vehicle
4. When to walk over and when to run while crossing.
5. Taught me never to cross in angles and must always be at 90 degrees
6. How to walk with a child in the road
7. Different position to walk by when walking either side of the road
8. How to communicate with an oncoming driver
9. What to do Incase I was caught unawres in the middle of the road by a vehicle..
10. Difference btw crossing a hill road and a low land road... subsequently at age ten of everyone in my house he takes the child out on a road crossing lesson...practicals
So , if I may ask, how did u learn to cross the road Well, am adult would have to take me to the roadside and tell me when to run across d road. One day, there was no adult around and I had to do it myself... Needless to say; I nearly got killed by oncoming vehicles. |

Crime › Re: Stole a phone & got caught 24hrs : A Lesson In Patience, Technology, And Justice by dawnomike(m): 7:23pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
emmy512: On the night of December 30th, around 10 PM, a young man managed to outsmart our security guard in a way that left everyone in disbelief. The man, either a laborer or someone pretending to be one, claimed to have been working at a construction site just opposite my residence. He looked clean and unassuming so no one would have suspected a thing.
From my observations and the account shared by the security guard, it was evident that this guy had been studying the guard’s nightly routine for some time. He knew when to strike and was patient enough to wait for the perfect opportunity, sitting beside the guard for nearly two hours that night.
Before this, he had employed a bit of social engineering, casually engaging the guard in conversations and sitting with him outside. Though they didn’t know each other, these interactions built a sense of trust! a trust that would ultimately work against the guard.
On two separate occasions, he asked to use the guard's phone to make calls, and though the guard was hesitant, he handed it over each time. In doing so, the man learned two critical things: the phone wasn’t locked, and it was a brand-new device.
That night, the man spun a story about his father dying in an accident and needing to call his sisters to arrange funeral plans. The guard, moved by the story, lent him the phone again. While pretending to make the call, the man cleverly delayed and kept buying time.
I happened to step outside my apartment at this point. I saw them together but thought nothing of it, as I didn’t know the guy. Moments later, the water tank filled, and the guy urged the guard to turn it off. The guard obliged, leaving his phone with the guy. I stood across the gate, still unsuspecting.
Seconds later, the guy took a few calculated steps, as if pacing, then bolted. I didn’t react because I didn’t realize what was happening. It wasn’t until someone outside asked why the man ran like a thief that the guard realized his phone was still with him. He took off after the guy but couldn’t catch him.
The guard returned, visibly distressed, and explained what had happened. I was furious, knowing how hard this man had worked to save for that phone he got beginning of the mknth . ₦159,000 gone in a flash. I immediately called the number, and it rang three times before going off. At that moment, I knew this was serious, and I decided to act.
Tracking someone at midnight is often easier than during the day. If you can pinpoint their night location consistently, you can figure out where they stay. Around 11:45 PM, I called the number again, and surprisingly, it went through. The only reason I could think of for the thief not removing the SIM was that he didn’t have a SIM ejector pin. A rookie mistake.
triangulation, I located him within an 11-minute drive from where I was, accurate to about 200 meters. I asked the guard for his email to access "Find My Device," but he couldn’t remember his password. Fortunately, the SIM used to create the email was in his smaller phone. I recovered the account and accessed the service, though I wasn’t sure if it was activated.
I sent the thief a stern SMS:
To my surprise, he replied, though I didn’t expect it. I’ll attach screenshots of his overconfidence later. Meanwhile, I waited until 1 AM, checked if the phone’s data was on by sending a WhatsApp message. When I saw a double tick, I quickly used "Find My Device" again. This time, it pinpointed his location within 50 meters, leading me straight to his compound with Google Street view ( I so much love that feature)
The guy claimed he was on a bus to Lagos when I extended an olive branch, warning him against ending up in a situation where thieves are burnt alive. I didn’t want it to escalate that far.
Fast forward to the following day. The guard, along with some others, staked out the street for two hours. Sure enough, they spotted the guy coming out with his girlfriend. They grabbed him, and a beating ensued. Neighbors initially protested, questioning why a group would gang up against him. Once the truth came out, the beating intensified, with his girlfriend begging for mercy.
At one point, someone brought out two tires and a match, asking for fuel or kerosene. That’s when I knew things had gone too far. We called the police, who arrived after he was tied to a NEPA pole before taking him into custody yesterday morning. And his new year begins in a cell, just heard his mom came in and has been begging as the money they're requesting to let him go he can't afford.
I mean he'll have to compensate the security man for time and money wasted and the wounds he had trying to wrestle the guy when he found him. Nice job... Weldone |

Bobodee09: Around June this year my wife got a job in Abuja which was for fews week. She left on a Saturday to resume on Monday. When she got to Abuja the person messed up and she had to stay in a hotel , when the person was still not forthcoming about the initial agreement I had to search for a place for her to stay. Fortunately I was able to get a old collegue who linked me to someone.
She is a single mother with 3 kids and she accommodated my wife from Wednesday to Sunday. She was really nice and we appreciated her help. Since then my wife took her like a senior sister.
On the 21st my wife just called me that the woman is coming to lagos on the 22rd and she request if she can stay with us for just a day before moving to the island. I immediately asked my wife who she coming to see in lagos cos she has no relatives here but she responded she coming to see the mother of her late first baby daddy. I knew it was a lie and told my wife she coming to see a man. She came on the 22rd and story change, she beg to leave to on the 27th and that when my wife found out she came to see a man and that one won't be available till on 27th. This woman dropped her 3kids in Abuja with a area sis and came down to lagos cos of dick.
The issue now is her people in Abuja all believe she staying with us cos she did lot video calls during her stay before leaving. Despite All my wife efforts to get the location where she going on the island before leaving she kept dribbling her.
My wife got a fb message yesterday from the area sister that they want to speak to her cos they haven't been able to get her since on the 31st, we have also try get her since yesterday but she isnt responding to calls and whatapp messages and some panicking as started.
Should i go report at police station or what is the best thing to do at this point cos we don't know this man or his address. First reach out to her people in Abuja to inform them of when she left your house. Afterwards, you all should agree on reporting to the police before you'll enter problem for what you know nothing about. Ensure to these unfailingly today biko! |

Sapasenator: Hello Nairalanders,
I am completely lost and need advice. My name is Olumide Adeyanju(Not my real name), and I’m a 42-year-old civil engineer based in Lagos. I’ve been married to my wife, Tola, for seven years. We have a son together, Jidenna, who is five years old. Our marriage hasn’t been perfect, but I thought we had something solid—until recently.
When I met Tola, she was a divorcee. She told me her first marriage to a man named Dapo Olatunji ended after three years due to irreconcilable differences and I believed her. According to her, Dapo had anger issues and was overly controlling. She said she left the marriage to protect her mental health and focus on building a better life for herself. At the time, I admired her courage, and we built a beautiful relationship.
Last month, everything changed. Tola and I were invited to a wedding in Lekki. As fate would have it, Dapo was also at the wedding. It was the first time they were seeing each other in nearly 10 years. I noticed they exchanged pleasantries, and while it seemed cordial at first, something about the way they looked at each other didn’t sit well with me.
In the weeks that followed, I started noticing subtle changes in Tola’s behavior. She began acting distant and spending more time on her phone, often smiling at her screen like a teenager in love. When I asked her what was going on, she brushed it off, saying it was just "work stress."
Then, two weeks ago, I came home early from work and found her on a video call with Dapo. She didn’t realize I was home, so I overheard parts of their conversation. They were laughing and reminiscing about their past together—things like how they used to travel to Abuja for weekend getaways and the time he bought her a surprise gift for her birthday. It felt like I was intruding on a private moment between lovers.
When I confronted her, she admitted that she and Dapo had been talking regularly since the wedding. She claimed it was "nothing serious" and that they were just "catching up as friends." But I don’t believe her. Her behavior has changed so much. She’s more secretive, and I even found out she met up with him last Saturday without telling me. She said it was a "closure" meeting, but why does she need closure after all these years?
Now I’m stuck. I love Tola, but it feels like her heart is being drawn back to Dapo. I’ve spoken to my elder brother, Kunle, and he thinks I should stand my ground and fight for my marriage. But my best friend, Tunde, says I should let her go if she’s already emotionally checked out.
I don’t know what to do. Should I confront Dapo directly? Should I give Tola an ultimatum to stop talking to him? Or should I quietly walk away and let her decide who she really wants to be with?
Please, Nairalanders, I need your honest opinions. Have you experienced or heard of a situation like this? How do I handle it? Please, sit her down and have a honest heart to heart conversation. Kindlt let her go if she wants to. |

I documented everything I learned along with practical prompts and examples. Since many asked, I compiled it into a guide.
When I first discovered ChatGPT, I was struggling with my web development studies. I couldn't stay focused for more than 30 minutes and kept procrastinating on projects ( I have ADHD). I started using ChatGPT as my learning partner. Here's what changed: First breakthrough: I used it to break down complex coding concepts into bite-sized tasks. My understanding improved dramatically within weeks. Second win: Created a personalized study schedule. Used AI to identify my peak focus hours (turned out to be 5AM-8AM) and built a routine around it. My productivity doubled.
Here's a specific example: I had a challenging React project deadline. I used ChatGPT to:
Plan project milestones Debug tricky code Stay accountable through daily check-ins Overcome impostor syndrome
Result: Completed the project 2 days early, got great feedback, and landed my first freelance gig. These practical applications helped me transform from struggling learner to confident developer. The system works if you know how to use it right.
