Hi everyone, I’m being indecisive about this issue. I’m posted to nasarawa for my nysc which I’m currently serving. I was posted to ministry of works (no payment, no accommodation) but on getting there I was told there’s no work on ground but the director of the department I was posted to which is mechanical said he will assign me to his personal work in which he’s into construction (building of houses, restaurants, hospitals e.t.c) but I have another opportunity to enter a food production company in which I have the request letter already. On getting to one of the director site, the workers there told me I’ll learn a lot under the man in sense of building, but on a second thought I’m thinking going to the food production company will give me a good edge about how machines operates and learn about them. Right now I’m confused I don’t know if I should still stay with the director or I should work my way into the food production company.

Your replies will really be appreciated

Celebrities › Re: Miss SA Withdraws From Miss Universe Over Health Issues by dawnomike(m): 3:36pm On Nov 16, 2024
theafricadailyp:
Johannesburg, South Africa – Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, has withdrawn from the Miss Universe competition due to health issues, the Miss South Africa organization announced on Friday.

The decision came just a day before the 73rd Miss Universe pageant was set to take place in Mexico City, Mexico.

“Mia has shown incredible courage and grace throughout this difficult period. Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full health,” the organization stated.

Le Roux expressed her gratitude for the support she received from South Africans.

“I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me,” she said.

“However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”

Prior to her withdrawal, Le Roux had expressed excitement about representing South Africa on the global stage. She hoped to showcase the country’s diversity and use her platform to address social issues.

“I am eager to highlight the beautiful diversity of our country and show that it is our biggest strength,” she said last month. “I hope to shine a light on the world’s blind spots while carrying my beautiful country in my heart.”

Le Roux’s journey to the Miss South Africa title was marked by personal challenges, including speech difficulties. She overcame these obstacles and became a powerful voice for inclusivity and hope.

“Someone once said that I did well with Miss South Africa because of the struggle I represent. But I say I did well because of the victory I represent, and I believe that is my advantage,” she said.

“My parents were unsure if I would ever speak, and now I am using the very same voice to be heard like I have never been heard before. I am speaking for every excluded individual out there, with the goal of bringing a future of hope and opportunity to them.”

Sports › Super Eagles Qualify For 2025 Africa Cup Nations!!! by dawnomike(op): 8:28pm On Nov 14, 2024
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with two games to spare in the qualifying series.

The Super Eagles with 10 points in the kitty are assured a top two finish following the shock lone goal victory recorded by Libya in the Group D match away to Rwanda in Kigali.

The Super Eagles are billed to face Benin Republic’s Cheetahs Thursday night in Abidjan before returning home to round off their qualifying campaign against Rwanda on Monday.

Neither Rwanda on five points nor Libya who are now on four points can do enough to overtake the Super Eagles with only one matchday left to play for the two teams.

The Super Eagles are three time African champions and made it all the way to the final of the last edition staged in Cote d’Ivoire.

The 35th Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco will take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Nairaland General › Re: Kojic Acid Soap: Benefits, Uses, And Everything You Need To Know by dawnomike(m): 9:37am On Nov 11, 2024
michell434:
Kojic acid soap has become a popular choice in skincare routines, especially for individuals looking to lighten dark spots, achieve a brighter complexion, or combat hyperpigmentation. Derived from natural sources, kojic acid has gained a reputation as an effective skin-brightening agent, and its incorporation into soap has made it easy to integrate into daily routines. This guide explores what kojic acid soap is, its benefits, uses, and potential side effects, helping you determine if it’s the right addition to your skincare regimen.

What is Kojic Acid?

Kojic acid is a byproduct of the fermentation process of certain fungi, specifically Aspergillus oryzae, and is often used in the production of foods like soy sauce and sake. This naturally occurring compound is known for its ability to inhibit melanin production, the pigment responsible for skin, hair, and eye color. Kojic acid’s primary function in skincare is to lighten pigmentation and even out skin tone, which is why it’s frequently used in products designed to treat dark spots, age spots, and acne scars.

How Does Kojic Acid Soap Work?

When applied to the skin, kojic acid works by interfering with the tyrosinase enzyme, which plays a crucial role in melanin production. By blocking this enzyme, kojic acid reduces melanin synthesis, which helps lighten hyperpigmented areas and achieve a more even complexion. Kojic acid soap is formulated to deliver this compound effectively during cleansing, making it convenient for people looking to address pigmentation issues without adding too many steps to their skincare routine.

Benefits of Kojic Acid Soap

1. Brightens the Skin

One of the most appealing benefits of kojic acid soap is its skin-brightening effect. Regular use of kojic acid soap can help fade dark spots and discoloration, resulting in a brighter, more luminous complexion. Many individuals use kojic acid soap to achieve a more radiant look, especially those dealing with dull or uneven skin tones.

2. Reduces Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation can result from various factors, including sun exposure, acne, and hormonal changes. Kojic acid soap is highly effective in addressing these concerns by gradually lightening the darkened areas and promoting a more uniform skin tone. Its ability to inhibit melanin production makes it a popular choice for those struggling with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, or age spots.

3. Treats Acne Scars

For those who have suffered from acne, scarring and residual dark spots can be a persistent concern. Kojic acid soap can help reduce the appearance of these scars, especially when used consistently over time. While it may not completely eliminate deep acne scars, it can significantly lighten the darkened patches and blemishes left behind by acne.

4. Anti-Aging Properties

In addition to its brightening effects, kojic acid also has antioxidant properties that can help combat signs of aging. By neutralizing free radicals, kojic acid helps prevent oxidative damage to the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This makes kojic acid soap a valuable addition to anti-aging skincare routines, as it addresses both pigmentation and the early signs of aging.

5. Reduces Melasma

Melasma, a common skin condition characterized by dark patches, is often triggered by hormonal changes or sun exposure. Kojic acid soap can help lighten these dark areas, making it a popular option for individuals dealing with melasma. While melasma can be challenging to treat, consistent use of kojic acid soap may help reduce its appearance over time.

How to Use Kojic Acid Soap

Using kojic acid soap is relatively simple, but it’s essential to follow specific guidelines to maximize its effectiveness and avoid irritation. Begin by wetting the soap and creating a lather, then gently apply it to the face and other affected areas. It’s important not to leave the soap on the skin for too long initially, as kojic acid can be potent and may cause irritation. Starting with a minute or two and gradually increasing the duration as your skin builds tolerance is often recommended. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat the skin dry. Follow with a moisturizer to maintain hydration and minimize potential dryness.

How Often Should You Use Kojic Acid Soap?

Most experts recommend starting with kojic acid soap two to three times a week, especially for individuals with sensitive skin. As the skin adjusts, you may gradually increase usage to once daily. However, overuse can lead to dryness or irritation, so it’s essential to monitor how your skin reacts. If any signs of redness or peeling occur, reduce the frequency or consult a dermatologist for guidance.

Combining Kojic Acid Soap with Other Skincare Products

To enhance the results of kojic acid soap, it’s important to choose complementary skincare products that won’t cause irritation. A gentle, hydrating moisturizer is essential after using kojic acid soap, as it can help counteract any dryness. Additionally, using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is crucial, as kojic acid can increase sun sensitivity. Avoid combining kojic acid soap with other strong exfoliants or active ingredients, like retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids, as this could lead to irritation.

Potential Side Effects of Kojic Acid Soap

Kojic acid soap is generally safe when used correctly, but it may cause side effects in some individuals. Common reactions include redness, dryness, or peeling, especially if the soap is left on for too long or used too frequently. People with sensitive skin should be particularly cautious, as they are more likely to experience irritation. To minimize the risk of adverse effects, always conduct a patch test before applying kojic acid soap to larger areas and follow the usage instructions carefully. If you notice any severe reactions, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.

Who Should Avoid Kojic Acid Soap?

While kojic acid soap is effective for many skin types, it may not be suitable for everyone. Those with extremely sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to skincare products may want to avoid kojic acid or use it sparingly. Additionally, pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with their healthcare provider before using kojic acid soap, as its safety during pregnancy has not been thoroughly established. Individuals with certain skin conditions, such as eczema or rosacea, may also find kojic acid soap too harsh and should consider milder alternatives.

Kojic Acid Soap vs. Other Skin Lightening Agents

Kojic acid soap is just one of several skin-lightening options available. Compared to hydroquinone, another well-known lightening agent, kojic acid is considered milder and is derived from natural sources. While hydroquinone is often highly effective, it has been associated with potential long-term side effects, which has led some individuals to prefer kojic acid as a safer alternative. Vitamin C
To get the most out of kojic acid soap, use it as part of a well-rounded skincare routine that includes moisturizing and sun protection. Avoid using harsh exfoliants or other strong active ingredients in the same routine to prevent irritation. Applying sunscreen daily is especially important, as kojic acid can make the skin more sensitive to UV rays, potentially leading to more pigmentation issues if unprotected.

Conclusion

Kojic acid soap offers an effective solution for individuals looking to address dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. Its ability to inhibit melanin production makes it particularly popular for those dealing with melasma, acne scars, and age spots. While generally safe, it’s essential to use kojic acid soap correctly to avoid side effects and achieve the best results. Incorporating kojic acid soap into your daily skincare routine, along with proper sun protection and moisturizing, can lead to a brighter, more even complexion. For those considering kojic acid soap, consistency, patience, and a well-balanced routine will go a long way in delivering the desired results.

Hi Nairalanders, please, how do I go about my house roofing so that the carpenter won't cheat me on the Aluminum Sheets. He has given me the price per square meter for different levels of thickness such as 0.45, 0.50 and 0.55.

The issue now is, if I pay for 0.50, how will I be sure that he both 0.50 and not 0.45. Is it possible for me to visit the company together with him and then pay directly to the company's account?

Please I need your advice. Mods please help push this.
Get a micrometer screw guage and let him know you'll will be checking the guage before installation of the roofing sheets...

Next time, just pay the company selling the roofing sheets fot installation, that way you'll be saved from worrying about 'Kazeem' the carpenter.

tunnyl:
Good day nairalanders. My wife just did a free successful surgery in a private hospital in Lagos state. They didnt charge us a single penny. This is not an advert and i just want to make sure many people benefit from this program.

I don’t know why this Lagos state Health insurance ( ILERA EKO) is not as popular as it should be online. Me amd my wife got free medical health care and didn’t pay a dime for the surgery down to the drugs and even the ward she stayed before and after. All because of ILERA EKO.

I am very grateful to Lagos state government for this. The cost of the plan as at when we registered was 8k. And for the entire family it is 40k. You can even make installments while enjoying the service. ( I heard the price has increased slightly). The payment lasts you for a year, regardless of what you do in the hospital.

Many hospitals are attached to this Ilera Eko. Hospitals that even a poor man would be scared to step foot into because of fear of hospital bills.

If you want to enjoy this program, just enter into any hospital and ask if they are attached to ilera eko. Just register with them and you can enjoy free and quality health services.

Once again thank u lagos state
That os the benefit of health insurance... Unfortunately, so many Nigerians don't make use of such and then gbam!, they are sick and hv to visit hospitals to pay exhorbitant bills.
