steph7: All of you claiming the woman shouldn't have hit the girl, tomorrow when the girl is rude to someone in front of her parents, who do you think will take the blame for the girls rudeness. This same BIL will be the first to point fingers at the woman and claim his daugther learnt it from her, afterall he dropped his daugther with his brothers wife to be trained.
So in your opinion hitting a minor is OK?

if hitting a minor who is considered a child under law is OK, A child who most likely cant defend herself is OK, Then why should hitting an adult not be OK?

Most of us were beaten while growing up, it doesnt mean its right, Its the culture of beating people weaker than you that has spread. The wife beat a weaker minor, the BIL beats a weaker wife. T1t for tat

If Colonel thinks its Okay to beat Sergeant, So why cant General beat Colonel?

jennykadry: ^^ With all due respect to your parents, did your dad ever hit your mum? Seeing that she is the weaker vessel?
My dad beat us kids but didnt beat my mom, But thats just a family

We cant pretend there are no ppl beating their wifes. infact years back I would say wife beating happens in majority of households.

freecocoa: My dear its not as straight as you paint it so there nothing like "Agree or disagree" here.

Actually by the traditional rule it is an offense to hit someone's wife,if there's anywhere i've seen many Nigerians refrain from beating someone, its usually a case of "leave am o na person wife" as far as we are concerned here,it is not a crime to use mild beating to correct an erring child.
In most Naija cultures the Wife is seen as the family's property.

When the husband dies, they share the wife as part of the property. Beating your wife is not unacceptable in most naija cultures

Actually some religion prescribed "light beating" of the wife. The wife was not beaten by an outsider, She was beaten by a member of the family

So if we are to go strictly by naija traditional culture both of them havent done anything wrong

But in modern culture both of them would be in jail, Possibly the womans offence would even be worse

jennykadry: People got different upbringing, my dad never hit my mother even when she drove him nuts, he taught his sons not to hit a woman, but he never stopped my mother from hitting us as kids when we messed up
Thats just your household,

There are some household where nobody was beaten whether wife or kids or househepls or drivers

There are some household where Only the kids were beaten

There were some household where ONLY the wife was beaten. i know a man who would never touch his children yet treats his wives like housemaids

There are some households where they dont beat wife and kids but Househelps and drivers were beating like drums in Celestial church.

freecocoa: Abeg stop this talk of what Nigerians call beating, that we see stories on NL doesn't mean that's how all Nigerians beat, atleast i had a mother who beat us when we went wrong, even relatives sef so stop making it sound as if all Nigerians use 4 by 4 ply wood to hit children angry
In the Nigerian tradition rules there is nothing wrong with beating a minor, Beating a woman, beating your houseboy, beating anyone you perceived weaker than you, poorer than you, Not as connected as you etc.

So going by the traditional rule No offence commited by both parties

Agree or disagree

So Jenny Is beating a 14yr old right in your books? if it was your own child beaten by a relative would you have sent flowers to them? At least we know what Nigerians call beating

coogar: how did the last champions league final get to a penalty shoot out on your own turf?

i can't remember 2005 fa cup final was played at old trafford....
apples and oranges!

then it says a lot about the quality of your squad if the loser to your wife(marseille) have such a stronghold on the bundesliga and bayern have no answers to their dominance!
Bundesliga? Who cares about a competition we have won 21 times? When we have bigger fishes to fry in Madrid, Man City etc.

Dortmund can as well win the next 5 BL title as long as we win 3 CL in the time frame who cares

So losing to Arsenal is a function of the venue of the game? Simple question Did Arsenal murder man Utd in 2005?

jennykadry: Whilst some of us were growing up, our parents used to say that "it takes a whole community to discipline a child" .i don't know about you but my mums friends were allowed to discipline me when I messed up how much more a family member?

Thanks to the jet age it is now okay for a man to hit a married woman who disciplined his child. If he cared so much why is that girl not living with her parents?

Yea someone said she was lucky it was only slaps they gaveher, another one Said he saw nothing wrong with hitting her. Wow nairalanders, what hypocrites we all are
But also dont forget while growing up beating women wasnt a big deal. Does any week pass without you hearing a neighbour is being beaten by her husband and inlaws?

Not couples fighting o but beating the wife like a small child. Some people even have canes and whips for their wife and Sister in Laws.

Physical abuse in anyway is bad whether to the wife or to the teenage
Family › Re: Relative´s Spouse Beaten By Brother-in-law (story continud) by dayokanu(m): 4:33pm On Aug 17, 2012
Both of them were wrong, the wife and the Brother in Law.

Those saying in nNigeria you are allowed to beat children also dont forget that in the same Nigeria beating women is not a big deal

if we are to use naija traditional laws, No big deal in beating the 14yr old and no big deal in beating the wife.

if you beat your wife or Sister in law and you report to the police, Most times they would tell you its a family matter and they cant interfere

if we are to use modern laws. Both of them are in trouble.

Brother in Law- Beating a woman

Wife - Assualt of a minor.

Both are bad but I think the woman would be worse off. Cos some court might even say she shouldnt come in contact with any minor again.

I know an Akata woman who beat her neighbours child and she got into real trouble. She was a trained teacher and they banned her from coming close to any child so she lost her job and would be on probation for 7yrs before she can work in her profession again.

coogar: and yet chelsea murdered you on your own turf with an ageing drogba and you don't have an answer to dortmund's onslaught in the bundesliga.....there are plenty of teams better than bayern munich! i can name 5!
Winning Bayern on penalties is what is called murdered to you? Togo can beat Barcelona on Penalties. Many top players can miss a penalty. Messi, Baggio, Zico, C.Ronaldo at the peak of their powers missed crucial penalties.

Arsenal won their last trophy beating Man Utd on penalties, I guess they must have murdered Man Utd in the 2005 FA cup

Dortmund? I laff in Umuahia. Has Dortmund been able to qualify from their CL groups just yet? The same Dortmund losing to our wife Marseille

Champions League is my hope for Bayern.

I cant see that many teams better than us in Europe. Maybe only Barcelona. After them I believe with our team

Same team from last yr with the inclusion of Shaqiri, Dante, Mandzukic and (Martinez)we can stand toe to toe with Madrid

The tradition also allows women to be kicked out of the house without anything, The tradition allows the man to beat you anyhow, The tradition also allows the man to marry multiple wives, the tradition .. So Can we just stick to our tradition to the letter?

Sagamite: To be frank, I wouldn't think that question was relevant because the drivers of crime has little to do with smacking.

The dominant factor for crime is economics/finance.

Finance determines unmet needs that lead to crime. It determines assets available to steal. It determines societies ability to deter crime.

Plus social factors like wealth gap.

Those are what determine crime levels.

That is why you will have more crime in Haiti than you will have in Monaco.

A more relevant question, in this context, is "which society has more unruly and disrespectful kids". That is the West!
If you are well brought up regardless of the suffering you would not steal.

There are people brought up in rich homes but still dont see anything wrong with vices and crime

The major drivers of crime and vices is the upbringing. Do you disagree?

Ok if you disagree then why bother smacking your child when you know upbringing doesnt affect them in anyway or are you just smacking because you enjoy beating kids?

BlackPikiN: There's a video on youtube where a child soldier from the SW who fought the civil war confessed that the Igbos were a hardnut to crack!

He said out of 100 Nigerian soldiers only 5 or 6 come back home alive.

It's so funny that Nigerian army celebrated the killing of Biafran civillians and they termed it war. lol

The frustration was so high that they(Nigerian army) bombed churches, market squares and schools.
Meanwhile the Biafran soldiers were out there killing them in bulk!
E no go better for those people o.

I will post the video as soon as I find it.
If Biafran soldiers were killing the Nigerian soldiers in bulk, Why was it that the Nigerians didnt surrender, it was the Biafrans that surrendered. Why was it that the Biafra bitchleader fled and not the Nigerian

macjive01: SIMPLES.

Biafra couldnt buy arms because they didnt have money.

even when they have the money, Britain and Russian, who controlled the arms making, made it practically impossible to buy arms. the USA was neutral- which favoured Nigeria. tho US did airlift lots of Biafrans to America- that why there are many home grown prosperous Igbos in America today .

Biafrans had to rely on their ingenuity to fight-

invented armoured tanks- tho rudimentary one- they had to stop making the tanks because it used lots of scared material.

a semi-submersible war boat. - this invention sustained the biafran forces at calabar and owerrinta till the end of the war. ( these boats had concrete lining, which were impregnable to the Nigerian bullet, but smitten by Russian MIGs.

The in/famous Ogwunikwe- including the air version that was testing 3 weeks to the end of war at umuahia.

Biafran couldnt buy arms and couldn't even buy materials to even mass produce their novel inventions

do you know the first version of Ogwunikwe (1.1) had "David-Goliath" stone for shrapnel ( the biafran scientist had to work out how to fire up Goliath stone to decimate a tank. and it worked.

could you imagine if Biafra had means to materials to mass produce their inventions or may be , just may be they had won the war! i tell you F-22 will be small were Biafran airforce would have been.
^^ All these brainless tripes filled with Ifs

if my Grandmother had penis she would have been my grandfather

If I was born in America i would have been greater than Obama and bill gates

All that are rubbish. No one told Biafra and the biatch ojuku not to seek alliance and support from other Powers before embarking on a war

macjive01: look, this tells u the war was not a premeditated plan. Ojukwu's hand was force by the resolution passed by the eastern house of assembly.

Ask yourself dayokanu, would it not have been easier for Ojukwu to organize a coup than the war ?

there were more senior igbo commander at the hem of affair in the armed forces than other tribes.
there were more igbo commanders

why didn't he simply organised the Biafran personnel in the army and carry out a coup ?
So you are telling us Ojuku didnt plan for a war, Yet he went ahead with one

You know what they say about those who fail to plan?

Ojuku must be a mor0n for putting the lives of millions on the line when he didnt have a concrete plan

macjive01: dayakanu, did you know Biafran army corp Engineers did set world record at the fastest time airport landing strip could be rebuilt and made functional ?

the Russians did everything they could to destroy the strip,Gowon personally urged them to smitten the strip, every kinds of bomb know and unknow in warfare was used in trying to demolish the strip. Biafran sensing their intention, went to their lab and built a cementing adhesive - which was like silicone but toughness of concrete.

this novel product humiliated the super power. Uli airport was bombarded over 10 times every night for over eight month yet it stood till the end of the war.

at the end of the war the Russians had to send their scientist to peruse the novel Biafran concrete Teflon product. a large chunk was flown to russian. while the conquering Nigerian government rather used a bulldozer to crater the strip and made sure every gram molecule of the strip was disposed in the sea.
You are still not making sense. if you had all these excellent airport and facilities why were you defeated, why did you surrender and why the that biatch flee to Abidjan
