leparj:Please how did you get to subscribe to CSCS? I am interested. |
ofai:The same way our mingling with Yorubas does not mean we share the same cultural history. We are not land grabbers like Igbos. I only used the illustration to expose your logical fallacies. Only Igbos are known to just jump into other people's lands without their consent. Your advice above is therefore better suited for your very selves who forcefully attacked the Midwest in 1967 and tried to annex it to Biafra in your expansionist drive. |
ofai:Witchcraft and sorcery? I guess the Abriba, Oguta, Onitsha, etc where cannibalism is openly practised are located in Benin lands. And come to think of the recent killings inside a church for that matter in Ozubulu by some blood sucking demons and witches of the East even in this computer age! Was it in the Midwest that a whole Governor of a state to be - Ngige - was taken before a witchcraft shrine to pledge returns to godfathers to the tune of over 40℅ state revenue on ascension to office? Was Clifford Orji the man eater from Benin? Is Evans the Kidnapper a Benin man? All black African precolonial kingdoms and empires, including your Nri, thrived on blood sacrifices and witchcraft. However, with the advent of coloniazation cum civilization most cultures understood better and thus abandoned blood sacrifice. But shamefully only Nri Kingdom descendants refused to change hence Igbos till today remain the only tribe renowned for blood money rituals even into the 21st century. They have corrupted Christianity with blood sacrifice culture carried over from Nri times. You even agree Nri was a hegemony? Thanks for that confession. No Wonder Igbos always politically gravitated towards the hegemonic Hausa-Fulanis in a post colonial Nigeria. Birds of a feather. |
ofai:If you were not an empty head you would have read it in history that even Onitsha King is a Benin migrants' descendant and that does not automatically tie Benin to Igbos. So also the fool in you deprives you of the Knowledge that Benin alone does not make up the Midwest. Go and read to get yourself out of your intellectual quandary. |
ofai:I guess you talk less with all you have said so far. Pot calling the kettle black. You are suffering from the usual Igbo disease of resorting to insults when losing a debate running on facts and logic. If you were not a coward you should have known that your grouse should rather be with the Aniomas who came out of their own volition to identify with Midwest. Of course you wouldn't because a typical Igbo man is so disgustingly dishonest that he blames everyone but himself for his rather self-inflicted woes. You people need to go and check yourselves to really see where you missed it all to the extent that everyone rejects you like leprosy. |
ofai:What does an ignoramus like you have to teach? You can't give what you don't have. If you don't know that Midwest remains the only legitimately created territory in the history of Nigeria then I am sorry to say that you are the unreachable coconut head. Is your Biafra a natural creation from the Garden of Eden? Biafra is even a Portuguese terms and you are here deceiving yourself. Even your dead and buried old Eastern Region was created by colonial masters fiat for economic exploitation. But the Midwest was created by the people themselves and neither by Europeans nor Nigerian military. Can you tell me what your people's input was in the creation of Eastern Region? Uneducated literate trolling cyberspace! |
ofai:I can see you are suffering cognitive dissonance. Anioma people came to Benin by themselves to identify their origin and deny Biafra and this clown is here bragging at me who is only reporting it. Don't you think you would have been more reasonable to question the Aniomas themselves? And if you people are really that good, then why are your assumed brothers so averse to identifying with you? Keep ranting about how Anioma land will not be in the Midwest while the Aniomas themselves stick to it. We the rest Midwesterners would gladly have them leave us if they so desire. We are not unity beggars. But they are the ones sticking to us. You have been left behind. |
ofai:All this is pure rubbish. The question I asked you is so simple but you have still not answered it. Here it is again: If you knew so well that being landlocked or sandwiched does not detract from developmental prospects, then why first make jest of Bendel as being sandwiched between Yorubas and Igbos only for you to change tune when I pointed out Igbos more sandwiched status within Nigeria? Hypocrite! |
ofai:Oduduwa Republic is now your last resort accusation. Sour Grapes syndrome. Go and meet your Hausa-Fulani brothers in the North and form your NPC-NCNC alliance again to persecute other Southerners. If I were really irrelevant you would not have given me audience. Stop unity begging please. It has always boomeranged on you. Zik did it and you are all paying the price today. Stop trying to dictate for others how they hope to live their lives. Let us be in our Midwest. |
ofai:Unfortunately you did not really make any point based on geographical principles but based on unity begging through Akwa Ibom. You are actually the insincere one by denying your unity begging while still doing it in full public glare. |
ofai:Please would you mind being specific about that coming time which seems to be known to you alone? And with the Asagba of Asaba sending his representatives down to Benin I am at loss to your definition of blood. |
ofai:So you were following the thread well and yet introduced insultive language into it? Your bringing in of an unrelated topic of Akwa Ibom brotherhood is a manifestation of unity begging. |
ofai:I thought you people have been mouthing it all over that Biafra has come? So which other time is coming again which your mouths have not brought? Who is collecting Aniomas' land? Do you read at all? Anioma representatives were there in attendance and declared of their own free will that their lands are Midwest lands and this victim of moronic plague is here arguing with me instead of questioning the Anioma men who so declared. Did you hear they were forced to so declare? Bush pig! |
ofai:You explained connection to the Atlantic shores with your unity begging theory? |
Pharoh:Wishful thinking. What is unity to you? Our unity lies in our uniqueness as the only legitimately created territory in Nigeria. We were not forced together but we chose to be together through the 1963 referendum. That is the unity. |
attackgat:Still reading and not understanding. Need I spoon-feed you? Alright, the uniqueness of Midwest lies in the fact that it is the only part of Nigeria that existed as a cohesive kingdom before the advent of colonialism and that it was and still is the only part of the present day Nigeria created legally and constitutionally according to all internationally accepted laws and process which took into account the free will and consent of the multiple tribes. The US is a unique country not much because it is ethnicity diverse but more because it is a nation established by the consent and consensus of the people therein. Every other region or territory of Nigeria was created by either colonial masters for economic exploitation or military fiat in pursuit of neo-colonialism both without the consent of the locals. Get the uniqueness story now? The Midwest no longer needs a referendum to determine its composition as we did that three years before the illegitimate Biafra Republic was born on account of its lack of referendum but coercion. The Aniomas in attendance today freely reiterated that they are Benin migrants. They came as representatives of Asagba of Asaba and identified themselves as part of the Southern minorities crushing under the weight of WAZOBIA. |
ofai:Nearly does not kill a bird. I am close to the sea is not the same as I am on the sea. You have no access to the Sea, pure and simple! If linkage to a river which flows to the sea automatically translates to sea access then states like Kogi, Kwara, Benue and even Kebbi all have become coastal states since they share boundaries with River Niger which empties its contents into the sea. So you even knew that being sandwiched cum landlocked is not an impediment to development yet you started by making jest of Bendel as being sandwiched between Yorubas and Igbos? See how you shift goal posts? And how did Akwa Ibom come into this discussion now? Land grabbing mode activated. So you are still claim ing Akwa Ibomites are your cousins despite them having come out very recently to deny you people? Intra-sothern unity begging mode activated after Zik's unity begging with the Hausa-Fulanis failed and boomeranged. You people don't ever learn from experience however bitter. |
ofai:However we have access to the sea unlike Igbos who are totally sandwiched within Nigeria. |
ofai:As if you have an option. |
attackgat:What makes us distinct people is the very fact that we are a multiplicity of tribes yet have a strong bond of harmony and identity which Nigeria's diversity failed to confer on it. You think having genuine unity in diversity is banana? |
ofai:See revisionist in chief pointing fingers of revisionism accusation. Didn't your Zik beg Hausa-Fulanis and everyone else to buy into his unity begging titled "One-Nigeria" at a time when even the Hausa-Fulanis were of the opinion that there was no basis for unity? |
ofai:Igbos were the first unity beggars in Nigeria. They started unity begging at a time when Hausa-Fulanis were killing them in large numbers in the North. Ask Zik. We have just ended the press conference now and the Asagba of Asaba's representative was in attendance along with many Ikas. You may follow network news this evening for that. |
ofai:Here comes a brother of the Unity Begger in Chief and Love peddler Nnamdi Azikiwe who put us in today's mess with his One-Nigeria sloganeering. The Anioma Representative in that list was not forced to get included. I therefore think your admonition should be directed at him as to why he has "betrayed" you again. You know that anyone who does not reason like you people or disagrees with you is automatically a traitor. |
Restructuring: Old Midwest professionals to meet Wednesday - Tribune tribuneonlineng.com Aug 7, 2017 8:21 PM Some professionals from the old Midwest region (now Edo and Delta states) are scheduled to meet in Benin on Wednesday to review the regions position on restructuring. A statement by the spokesman of the Midwest Movement, renowned playwright, Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki on Monday indicated that the professionals across differennt fields who are indigenes of the region would deliberate on the all important issue and come up with the best deal for Midwest. According to him, as agitation for restructuring gets louder, professionals from the business sector, academic, political class, media, civil society groups and others, who are indigenes of the old Midwest region will converge on Benin City on Wednesday.(tomorrow). He mentioned some of the delegates at the meeting to include himself, another of the big players in the Nollywood, Richard Mofe Damijo; Senator Domingo Obende; a senior lecturer in the Faculty ofLaw, University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie; former presidential adviser, Professor Echefuna Onyebeadi; Dr. Chris Itsede; an editor with Thisday, Iyobosa Uwugiaren and Mr. Ide Eguabor. He listed others to include Admiral S. Ogoigbe (rtd); Dr. Godwin Akpobire; Dr. Mo Eyeoyibo; Dr. Loretta Ogboro-Okor; Ebiere Akangbou; Prince Kassim Afegbua; Mena Ajakpovi; Arc. Frank Evbuomwan; Dr. Mogba Eyeoyibo; Dr. SEO Ogbonmwan; Olorogun Theo Mukoro; Engr. Wole Abu and others. The statement read in part: “We The Midwest Movement call for a restructuring of the Nigerian nation. The objective is to achieve a better deal for the Midwest within the Nigerian commonwealth. ‘’We the Midwest Movement believes that the destiny and future of the territories of the Midwestern Region/Bendel State cannot be attached to any agitation of the Eastern or Western tribes and our neighbours. Neither can any of the territories of the Midwestern Region/Bendel State be annexed by any such agitator(s). We are a distinct People. ‘’We, the Midwest Movement call for re-federalisation of the Nigerian Nation-State, based on informed understanding of best practices, employing the fiscal allocation provisions of the pre-1966 constitutions as useful templates.’’ The Movement stated that it was not searching for the balkanisation of the country or the declaration of Midwest Republic adding that it will insist on engaging in the federal argument as one region of the regions. The statement further read: “The Midwest Movement shall examine and properly situate the history of the Midwest Region/Bendel State, and its rightful place in the future of Nigeria. ‘’THE Midwest Movement shall be a constituent assembly/constitutional assembly for the purpose of drafting or adopting a position document that best reflects the aspirations of the Midwest peoples of Edo and Delta states. ‘’We shall set out terms of engagement with: the larger Nigeria federation and/or the Niger-Delta/South-South or as a separate union, this must be tertiary; a last resort.’’ |
Elliot2:Zik actually asked for help from the colonial masters to goad other tribes into accepting a seamless oneness, and the colonial guys responded positively to him. Zik himself confessed that in an interview he granted in 1975. Killing of Southerners (especially Igbos) by Hausa-Fulanis did not start today. As at the time Zik made himself the Purveyor in Chief of "One-Nigerianism" in the late fifties, the Hausa-Fulanis had already recorded two massacres of Igbos in thousands in 1945 and 1953 and made themselves clear that they would kill more if given the chance. The question therefore should not be why Hausas have been killing Igbos for later rejecting "one Nigeria" but should be why Igbos kept on trying to forge unity with a people whose undisguised political hobby was to kill them for the very "crime" of seeking unity with them in the first instance. |
sanpipita:Of course people are morally right to change position if they were sincerely mistaken in their initial stance. But in the case of Igbos they knew it quite well from the beginning that Nigeria was built on a very wrong foundation but deliberately (not mistakenly) began to preach a seamless oneness when the basis of such was non-existent. Same with the Northerners now. They initially were realistic and sincere enough to acknowledge that the basis for a seamless oneness was rather imaginary, but after being coerced against their will to have a taste of the oil revenue courtesy of that forced oneness, their eyes became open and thereafter they have stayed glued to the false oneness. This is the tragedy. |
sanpipita:Igbos started it all by preaching "One-Nigerianism" prior to independence when all evidences actually pointed to the contrary. |
testarossa:Igbo's unrealistic quest for unitary system disguised as call for "One-Nigeria" gave birth to all this unfortunate status quo and the difficulty in changing it. |
samguru:I entered the CI LEASING bus at the 0.6km point and will not disembark till the 4Km point. I see it playing out the IKEJA HOTEL story of 2014 characterized by a long lasting rally on consecutively good results after a long lock up period at par value as a result of red accounts in the past. |
BabaAduras:Let us even assume without conceding that GEJ was that bad as you assume, then you only need to remember that it was this same OBJ that imposed him and Yaradua on the country despite knowing that GEJ was that bad. Thus, without OBJ we would not have ever experienced a GEJ presidency which to you was so terrible. And in all his anti-GEJ tirades OBJ has till today never once apologized to Nigerians for bringing upon them such a disaster. Yet you keep believing him. However, the mistake you are making here is that you are juxtaposing a massacre that merely resulted from GEJ'S incompetence with massacres that were deliberately ordered and sponsored by OBJ. When an inexperienced and naive man fails in a duty, you don't compare it with an experienced man who purposely decided to fail when he could do better. The Odi and Zakibiam massacres were such that OBJ gave specific instructions to the soldiers to return there on revenge mission and shoot on sight indiscriminately. GEJ never so ordered but just that he was incompetent hence those havocs happened. They were not deliberate on his part. Mind you that GEJ later apologized for his mistakes and naivety induced carelessness whereas OBJ till today justifies his own massacres and boasts he will repeat them if given the opportunity again. These are the differences. OBJ is evil. |
BabaAduras:There was no evil GEJ did which OBJ had not surpassed before GEJ came on board. Abacha was a saint when compared with OBJ. The genocides committed by OBJ in both Odi and Zakibiam were not replicated in GEJ's time. Any government that deliberately orders the killing of innocent citizens it is meant to protect as it's primarily role has failed altogether. Obasanjo remains the worst president so far on the strength of the fact that only him twice had the opportunity to change Nigeria for good but in both cases left a legacy of genocide, corruption, election fraud, and all other vices that unmake a nation. GEJ's only problems were that he was weak, lacked the political will to cause any concrete paradigm shift, pandered to the whims of the very Northern Oligarchy and their Southern collaborators from whose stranglehold he was voted to free the common man, was lukewarm and indifferent to the question of return to true federalism, and was a One-Nigerianist per excellence. |
beamtopola:Yorubas, being Obasanjo's brothers, knew that Obasanjo was evil and was going to be a monumental failure hence they rejected him in 1999. Ironically enough the other regions gave him bloc votes back then on the accolades that he is a "detribalized" and "patriotic" one-Nigeria "nationalist" thereby claiming implicitly that they knew the man more than his own brothers. But today these same folks heap on Yorubas the blame for Obasanjo's eight years misrule. Sometimes I wonder if Nigerians understand what it means to take responsibility for the consequences of one's choices. |
