pazienza:Reasons why the visit of a part of AG to the NPC leadership to broker a deal could not have been at Awolowo's instance: 1.The AG delegation that went up North to negotiate with NPC was at the instance of Akintola and led by him without Awolowo's approval. As at 1957 (two years before the 1959 elections) the about-to-depart colonial government had already set up a precursor independece government for which they made Balewa the pseudo Prime Minister with Akintola being offered a ministerial portfolio which he accepted. By that development it was clear that Akintola already had always been in engagement with Northerners against Awolowo's approval even before independece. So obviously Akintola and his minority supporters within the AG had already had a taste of the filthy lucre of power positions sharing with the North and therefore could not afford to be out of power post independece, hence their preference for the apparently more promising dominant North which, knowing would not sit well with Awolowo, they had to seek without his approval. 2. Had Akintola told Ahmadu Bello that his visit had Awolowo's approval and backing, Ahmadu Bello, blunt and frank as he was, would have later mentioned it when Awolowo continued to reject all olive branches extended to him by the Balewa Government during the times of crisis which later came. 3. The fact that Akintola himself in all his later speeches laid on Awolowo all the blame of Yorubas' loss of portfolio opportunities in the Balewa administration to Igbos logically testifies to Awolowo's anti-North position. Had Awolowo approved of the visit of those AG members to Ahmadu Bello and it had failed all the same, then Akintola would not have later accused Awolowo of being responsible for Yorubas' loss to Igbos. 4. Given his consuming quest to drive home his anti-Awolowo propaganda through any available means, Akintola could not have missed the opportunity of telling the whole world that Awolowo was a hypocrite for feigning anti-North overtly after covertly delegating him to broker a deal with the same North. 5. Zik was not only a professing Christian but also read Comparative Religious Studies together with Anthropology in the University. Therein he learned of fair hearing as exemplified by God who, even though actually saw Adam eat the fruit courtesy of His omnipresence and omniscience, did not pass judgement until He had asked Adam whether he had eaten from it. What just stopped Zik therefore from just putting a phone call to Awolowo to confirm his knowledge and approval of Akintola's visit before believing Ahmadu Bello? 6. It usually reported by the pro-Zik elements that on being told on phone by Ahmadu Bello that some AG delegates were with him in Kaduna to ask for an AG-NPC alliance, Zik started moving downstairs and while in transit he said to himself, "So this snake we are trying to kill even has two heads?" This means that even before the issue post 1959 election alliances ever came up, Zik and his followers had been trying to kill Awolowo politically only that they just discovered at the point of alliance that he was more "dangerous" than the reason why they ever had to kill him in the first instance. That meant they were already prejudiced against him and had already closed their minds to any objective assessment of any accusation that that would later be leveled against him from any quarters. Is it not now clear why they, without any leading, chose to see Awolowo's hand in Akintola's visit to Ahmadu Bello even though Ahmadu Bello did not explicitly or implicitly say that Akintola confirmed Awolowo's knowledge and approval of it? It was simply a case of giving a dog a bad name in order to kill it. 7. The fact that 4 years later, the same Zik later sent Okpara to visit Awolowo's wife with the task of mending fences with incarcerated Awolowo through his wife towards forging the AG-NCNC alliance which he (Zik) had rejected 4 years earlier was a development that made nonsense of the claim that Awolowo' played double game to inspire Zik's preference for the North earlier on. It would be recalled that while Zik was proposing the UPGA (AG-NCNC) alliance to Awolowo through Okpara's visit to his wife, Tafawa Balewa was simultaneously proposing to release Awolowo from prison on the single condition that he rejected Zik's UPGA and accept for once a merger of AG and NPC towards the 1965 Federal Elections which Awolowo turned down again and preferred to remain in prison rather turn Zik down. If Awo were double dealing as Zik's appologists would have us believe, he would have at least accepted Balewa's terms of release but joined UPGA on regaining freedom or better still accepted Balewa's release and really joined NPC to pay Zik back in his own coin especially given the fact that Zik had become politically destitute, used, disgraced and dumped by the North so much that he and Balewa were no longer in talking terms at that moment. If Zik was truly convinced that Awolowo played double game in 1959 alliance proposals, then why did he turn round just after 4 years to even make conscious efforts in search of alliance with the same man at a time when the same Northerners were courting him with release from jail. Was it not a repeat of the same scenario as that of 1959 that was playing out again? Why did Zik not suspect this time that he, being a snake according to them, could play double game again? 8. The Five Majors, four of whom were Igbos, were averse to the Northern Oligarchy and their Southern Collaborators, and that was their main source of impulse for the coup. As young army officers who keenly followed the events from the swearing in of the NCNC-NPC Government, they knew quite well that Awolowo was wholeheartedly anti-North hence he was not in their hit list unlike Zik, Okpara, Osadebe and Akintola whom they penned down for liquidation for being Southern Collaborators to the Northern Hegemony. |
cumbak60:Don't you think your brothers are actually the ones guilty of comeback stories by always terming others friends of the North when actually all historical evidences indict them more of friendship with the North? Please note that any Igbo man who calls any other Southern people friends or slaves of the North must have me to contend with any day hence this response of mine will always greet such claim as has happened here once again. How has Pazienza beaten me to it? You mean he has been able to prove that Igbo did not go into alliance with the Hausa-Fulani in 1959 and 1979 to the rejection of southern alliance in both cases? Or that he has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it wasn't Igbos that invented "One-Nigeria" sloganeering ironically at a time the Hausa-Fulanis were slaughtering them in thousands in the North? I know you know how shameful it is that your Igbo tribe committed these suicidal blunders hence your discomfort with my constant revisit of the historical facts. But if you honestly want me to stop repeating it then ask your brothers here to stop hypocritically terming others as slaves and friends of the North since we know the truth about it. |
Mujtahida:In their Zik-led quest for a fraudulent and imaginary "One Nigeria" they, on the excuse that an alliance cutting across North and South was better for national unity, rejected the proposed all-Southern parties alliance and opted for an alliance with the obviously hegemonic and born-to-rule-chanting North which has always massacred them in thousands prior to independence. Ironically, they who avoided the rather ideological based AG-NCNC-NDC coalition in preference for a marriage with the Northcentric NPC-NCNC alliance in which they were junior slave partners to Hausa-Fulanis hypocritically term others as Hausa-Fulanis slaves. The same people once more frustrated the proposed Southern unity in 1979 by aligning with NPN of the same Hausa-Fulanis. Yet to them others who consistently kept away from Hausa-Fulani hegemony are slaves of the same Hausa-Fulanis. What an interesting irony. One wonders if words have meanings to them. Their hypocrisy is out of this world. |
Very interesting thread. |
Odingo1:From your submission above, you have admitted that Ijaws are geographical neighbours with Edos, Urhobos, Itshekiris, Yorubas, Efiks and Isokos but not with Igbos as there are no Ijaw settlement enclaves anywhere in Igbo land. Then on what basis are you assuming that it is geographically more possible for them to form a country with Igbos than with these other tribes? Or how will Ijaws jump over these tribes to form a country with Igbos with whom they are least contingous in the whole South? But lest I get misconstrued, let me quickly add that my question to you is not aimed at proposing a country formed between Ijaws and these their neighbouring tribes, but only aimed at highlighting the logical fallacy in your submission above. My better prayer is that Nigeria splits for each tribe, however tiny, to be on her own. |
Amarabae:You are a very wise and extremely intelligent Igbo woman. I have always wondered why Ipobs have been ridiculing the generality of Igbos by trying to attach to the SS like leeches. No other majority tribe in Nigeria attaches minorities like Ipobs are doing. It is even minorities that should be attaching to majority and not the other way round. I am happy that there are Igbos like you. |
logica:You hit him below the belt. You are wicked! Chai. |
ransomed:Ol boy, na so cold catch me sef o when I see the list of African Jews wey dey drink oil. From the way Ipobians been take dey hala for Hausa and Yoruba I been don dey believe say African Jews never touch oil before. I no know say na dem even drink oil pass Yoruba and Hausa combined. See the list as e long! |
fumiswtpusy:I was thinking you were really a Yoruba person until you included Oshiomhole in your list of Yorubas who, according to you, are dirty. If however you are really Yoruba, then you must be of the unfortunate type who think that whichever Nigerian is neither Hausa nor Igbo must automatically be Yoruba. The fraudulent WAZOBIA demographic narrative still guides your reasoning despite you being from Lagos State where books are most easy to find given the abundance of public libraries there. Please go and read first before you come here and say things which even a nursery one child of today cannot make mistakes about. |
WOCKHARDI:What a honest Igbo man. Your types are rare. Ironsi, wherever he is now, can see the end result of his unification decree. I personally don't even blame Nzeogwu much because he did not harbour the objective of converting Nigeria to a unitary state while planning the coup with the others. He was only appalled by the anarchical style of the Balewa-Zik governance. Ironsi was the one who, like Zik, could not see that it had become a time tested universal principle that unitary system experimented in a multi-ethnic society had never worked anywhere but always lead to a failed state and war. |
Noccerino:I think it would have been more honest of you to have therefore first condemned your brother who first brought Edo into the issue than this your hypocritic stance of focusing the Edo person who merely responded to him. Why you people always having nightmares about Edo is what beats me. A post was written and Edo was not mentioned, yet your brother brought Edo into it and an Edo person responded, and all that your sense of judgement told you to do is to ignore your brother who looked for trouble and attack the Edo person who merely responded. Don't you see the characteristic dishonesty that informs the hatred you people get from all other Nigerian tribes? And yet you accuse them of Igbophobia whereas you people always sow the seeds of trouble. Meanwhile Edo is, according to you, geographically located in the North Central but however has a seaport and is closer to the coast than any Biafran State which is "geographically" in the South but will never have a seaport for being too far from the coast, and also that there are indigenous Igbos in Benue and Kogi States of the NC Region as well as there are Kogi tribes indigenous to Anambra State, while no Edo speaking people are indigenous to any NC state. Then by your rather queer logic, Delta State which harbours the manifestly Yoruboid Itshekiri tribe together with Edoid tribes is not as well in the SW like Edo which does not even have any Yoruboid tribe. So you now want to cohabit with Itshekiris who are the Yorubas of the SS at least according to you people. Then what exactly is your objective? Confused lots of greedy people! You obviously learned Biafra Geography and not the normal one taught in schools. The pain you really have with Edo is simply that among the SS states it manifests the most intense disapproval for your proposed ill-intentioned joint SS/SE Biafra Republic. And our reason for opposing it so vehemently is simply the fact that Edo was the first and hardest hit victim of the 1967 Biafra expansionist invasion of southern minorities' domains. If you knew Edo was a SW or NC state, then how come it was the first domain you ironically invaded and tried to annex in 1967? I need answers please. |
pazienza:You are still searching for an instance in which Azikiwe forced other tribes into bondage by arm twisting them into the fraudulent one Nigeria he invented and championed in strategizing for Igbo domination after having shown you a link to an interview which Zik himself granted in 1975 and in which he made it clear that the British colonial authorities had to come to his aid with coercion of Awolowo after he failed to convince him to discard his push for secession clause provision? Then you will not be able to see the tallest building in the world even if you stand right in front of it. Did I hear you say Igbos don't throw away the baby with the bath water? What an interesting denial of core political attitude! Well, you might be correct somehow as Igbos don't only throw away babies with the bath water but sometimes even throw away babies and retain the bath water which is useless. Below are some instances: 1. In 1959, Zik, the Igbo's baby, with Igbos support threw himself away and accepted the bath water of the Islamist core North by way of rejecting the proposal which would have made him Prime Minister, but accepting the one which he clearly knew would perpetually make his kinsmen forever third class citizens of the country. They allegedly did so to avenge a phantom cross carpeting in the Western Region. That was a clear case of throwing away the baby and retaining the stinking bath water which the Islamist Core North represented courtesy of the massacre of Igbos they had staged in 1945 and 1953. Only Igbos would spite those who allegedly used cross carpeting to floor them by marrying those who slaughtered them. See how people reason? Which is worse then? Because a buffalo felt offended by its fellow herd members it decides to pay them back by going to live with lions, pythons and hyenas in their colonies. Then who will that decision hurt more? 2. In 1979, because Ojukwu the ideal Igbo baby courtesy of his sacrifice for the Igbo race, on return from exile, did not join Zik's party, Igbos threw him away and retained the dirty, smelly and stinking bath water which Zik represented by the hindsight of the devastating consequences which his romance with the Core North wrought on Igbos. They disgraced Ojukwu by voting for one relatively unknown green horn ally of Zik's. 3. In 1999, the Igbo baby, Ekweme, who had virtually become the consensus PDP candidate endorsed by the PDP NWC, was thrown away by Igbos in acceptance of OBJ who symbolized all that was wrong with Nigeria ranging from fraud, indiscipline genocidal records, anti-SS land use act promulgation, etc. 4. In both 2003 and 2007, Igbos again threw away Ojukwu for OBJ and Yaradua who were more or less pro-establishment candidates. Jonathan was not an Igbo baby as much as Ojukwu. So the use of GEJ'S acceptance as an illustration of the hypothesis of not throwing away the baby with the bath water by the very people who rejecting Ojukwu three times flat is pure bunkum. You are never tired or ashame of rewriting history even if it is all too recent. Kanu did not only describe GEJ as weak according to you, but as both weak and incompetent. Then he went further to describe Shagari and other Norther leaders from even the Islamist Core North as better than him. He made it clear that GEJ abandoned the SE on pursuit of Northern interest. That exactly is the grouse which all truly concerned Southerners have with him. Only your likes believe that presidency is all about the mere occupancy of the seat for tribal egoism. If we are to go by Kanu's parameter, then Buhari so far is better than GEJ since he, just like other Core North presidents, has commenced the construction of SE roads which GEJ never attended to despite all the praises he received from Igbos who ironically have continued to reign curses on Buhari. How can anyone in his right senses ascribe boldness to patience for her acts of foolishness? How does Patience's meanness translate to abhorrence for political correctness? Here was a woman who displayed a level historic crudity never known with any first lady. Did Buhari's wife not recently demonstrate boldness and aversion to political correctness by accusing her husband of appointing opportunists into his cabinet dominated by a cabal yet without insulting anyone or name-calling? Genuine boldness goes with some honesty. This woman started her criticism right from her own husband and president for that matter. But Patience hypocritically saw nothing wrong with her husband's choices of allies but blamed everyone else. Was that a honest display of boldness and truthfulness compared with Aisha Buhari's? Has Aisha Buhari picked up any quarrel with any NW governor the way Patience kept on rivalling Amaechi an elected governor? Would you prefer that Patience be your governor in Anambra? Patience was not bold but simply silly. Even her Rivers people don't speak of her proudly. Only Igbos admire her because fool hardiness is equal to boldness among them. And don't forget that the same Patience, after leaving power, has been mending fences with Hausa-Fulanis by attending weddings of their children with her husband. Keep fooling yourself though. |
pazienza:Even the mentality retarded can sense that your only means to play down Igbo guilt as the very architects of the non-negotiability of Nigeria's false unity invented and championed by your myopic leader Azikiwe is for you to keep denying that it was ever proposed even when all documental evidences to it slap and kiss you in the face continuously. Of course it is in the character of a typical Ipobian to live in denial of his own faults and misadventures while holding everyone else responsible for his misfortune. The truth remains that all your attempts to rewrite history here have been demolished with strict resistance of superior logic and facts from me unlike when you were having a field day of lies before you strayed into my path in a thread from which you absconded at the expiration of your tales by moonlight. Still in validation of my stance that you are lacking in comprehension ability, you have again shifted the issue of your own inconsistency to Kanu's "consistency". What I said is that your claim that Jonathan is your hero conflicts with yet another claim of yours that Kanu is your hero when Kanu disagrees with GEJ over the very issue for which you credit both of them with heroism. To you, GEJ is a hero for believing in and sacrificing his region's interest for one "One-Nigeria", and yet again Kanu is a hero for fighting for the dismantling of "One-Nigeria". Does that make sense? Of course it is in the same weird vein you have been trying to have it both ways here by trying, albeit silly, to confer heroism on both Azikiwe and Ojukwu on the same Biafra issue about which each of these two figures saw himself as hero and the other as villain. Only a confused, demented and brainwashed Sad Easterner like you would have two individuals as heros for an issue over which they themselves were sworn enemies. Then what exactly is your stance on that issue if one may ask? Of course such a stand validates the cliche that Igbos don't criticize their kinsmen no matter how wrong, hence the most tribalistic people in Nigeria and introducers of tribal politics. Again, Kanu has just declared that GEJ's wife, a stark illiterate, would have been better than GEJ himself and never mentioned Buhari in that statement. Bringing Buhari into it is your own doing and smacks of your usual disease of putting words into people's mouths and thereby rewriting history. For a stark illiterate like GEJ's wife with her basket full of grammatical blunders coupled with her uncouth and uncivilized attitude to be better than GEJ in anyone's opinion can only mean that GEJ himself is the worst ever, thus worse than however bad Buhari might be. Please use your brain and apply common sense. Why reason with your anus and joystick? |
frenzyduchess:Oh. Sorry for the error dear. Thanks my sister. Edo remains ours to build and to protect our rich cultural history. Thanks again. |
frenzyduchess:Exactly my brother. |
frenzyduchess:Like GEJ once said, only a tree with ripe and beautiful fruits has missiles being hurled at it. In psychology, there is this principle of cognitive dissonance also called "Sour Grapes Syndrome" which explains that humans tend to talk down a thing of high value after vying for it with all their energy and still not being able to acquire it. Edo remains a "sour grape" to Ipobians for being the most difficult SS state to be convinced into this idea of a joint SS/SE Biafra Republic. Because of this dominant anti-SS/SE posture of Edo State, Ipobians have been calling it a Hausa State, sometimes a Yoruba State and at other times a North Central State. Ironically there are Igbos native to North Central states like Benue and Kogi while no Edos are indigenous in any North Central or Yoruba State. Another illogicality and evidence that the typical Ipobian's reasoning is not governed by logic but by greed is their quest to have Delta State (with Itshekiri areas inclusive) in Biafra Republic while at the same time claiming that Yorubas are saboteurs but conveniently forgetting that they have always claimed that Itshekiri's are Yorubas. Why Edos are most anti-SS/SE Biafra has nothing to do with the phantom affinity with Yorubas dished out by Igbos but with the simplest fact that Edo was the first and hardest hit victim of Biafra forces invasion of other lands in 1967. |
frenzyduchess:Don't mind the Edophobic Ipobian. His fear and bias against Edo blinded him to the fact that Delta was also not represented there despite Delta being currently governed by his supposed Anioma brother. We hope that they will one day understand that in spite of all these never ending exercises of geopolitical configurations and reconfigurations in Nigeria, Edo and Delta proudly see themselves as a historically distinct and unique people in Nigeria on account of the fact that they were already closely bound by culture pre-colonization and were a region in their own right as at when Nigeria had just four regions and the other 4 SS states were still under Igbos in the Defunct Eastern Region while the Northern minorities were still under the Hausa-Fulanis in the Defunct Northern Region. |
pazienza:Yes, I bore you with the truth, and you sound like a faulty transistor. Each time all you keep vomiting is "your superiors could not blah blah blah blah.....". Why must we move to that thread where you have already been trounced? Why can't you answer me here? Who are these superiors and how did you arrive at this preposterous assessment with which you keep chest beating? Only a Biafra would boast about a thing he should rather be ashame of. Meanwhile your adored Nnamdi Kanu and leader of the agitation for your so much cherished Biafra Republic has just publicly confessed that your hero GEJ is a monumental failure in so much that even his illiterate wife would have been a better presidential material than him, and because Kanu is of your Igbo stock you have not made any attempt to debunk him for insulting your hero GEJ. Had Kanu been a non Igbo, your dubious likes would have been everywhere calling names and making hate statements on other tribes and accusing them of anti-Igbo agenda. But here you have your own Igbo brother insulting your hero from your "beloved" SS and you curiously remain silent. Hypocrite! |
[quote author=pazienza post=57904751][b]1. Zik at no point pressurized anyone to accept Nigeria, he used diplomacy and concessions.[b/] ZIKS INTERVIEW WITH NEW NIGERIAN NEWSPAPER IN 1975. ………..Excerpt……….. Again, however, when the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression – ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ – and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued. The Secretary of State then was Oliver Lyttleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in saying that the people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level. So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer. He made his points why secession should be incorporated in the constitution. He cited the case of the Soviet Union which is a federation, and that secession is written there so that any state in the Soviet Union can secede at will. He also cited the case of Western Australia and eventually he finished his case and was applauded. We adjourned. The next day, I had to reply. I availed myself of the opportunity to, well, demolish the arguments of my friend and I cited the case of United States which based its constitution on that of the Swiss Confederation. That is Switzerland. I pointed out a case, I think, that of Texas versus White, where Mr. Salmon Chase, the Chief Justice laid down the principle – he was really an arbiter – that the union was intended to be perpetual and indivisible and that any attempt to divide the union by secession was treasonable. The North (NPC) supported Action Group. The question was then: Should we have secession? The Colonial Office came to our rescue. You know, the usual principle of Britain – ‘divide and rule’ (laughs) but this time, it was in our favour. So, the colonial office backed us. Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason and that was what led to this war, because Col. Ojukwu seceded and so violated the constitution. https://oblongmedia.net/2017/06/26/zik-interview-with-new-nigeria-in-1975/ |

shukuokukobambi:Don't mind the clown. Even the very Ojukwu they call their hero attended Awolowo's funeral but deliberately refused to attend Zik's obviously due to Zik's lifestyle of lack of principles and political prostitution ideology. |
BlakKluKluxKlan:These are deadly truths you have spoken. How pleasant it is that I have finally found an honest Igbo man who calls a spade a spade as regards the political misadventures of Zik which put his Igbo brothers and indeed the South in general in this mess we've been in till tomorrow. In pursuit of his rather selfish albeit vainglorious agenda of being worshiped as Zik of Africa, the bastard kept on masturbating over an imaginary one Nigeria courtesy of which he took most of his decisions against common sense and simplest logic. A man who saw banana peels on a path he chose to thread but continued threading it all the same in the assumption that all he needed to do to avoid being brought down by the banana peels was to close his eyes to them and walk through. What a monumental fool. What kind of "nationalistic" instinct would inspire that level of abhorrence of stark reality? What sort of quest for national "unity" could inspire a man not to start his charity from home? What national unity in real terms can anyone achieve when his own constituency is not united enough before uniting with the others? The long and short of it is that Zik was a big fool who mistook pure moronism for nationalism. |
I'm sure the true SS realized the same, which was why despite all GEJ shortcomings, when presented a choice between him and any Arewa-oduanistan candidate, he would always come top in the region. Not because he was the best, but because he was better. GEJ himself had become an Arewanistan-Biafra candidate as he abandoned the SW, SS, and Middle Belt which voted genuinely for him on principle, and embraced the SE which voted for him on the assumption that he would give hand over to them, and the Core North which voted against him and staged bloody riots when he was declared winner. Of course Igbos were thrilled by the coincidence that another man bearing Azikiwe repeated exactly the 1959 history Zik made by founding the Core North-Biafra marriage which put the SW, SS and Middle Belt in political quandary. |
There is nothing whatsoever we can say GEJ did to us, that Arewa-oduanistanis had not done worst. Even after Arewa massacred you in 1945 and again in 1953 in Jos and Kano respectively you still voted for them in the Parliament in 1959. After Arewa massacred 3 million of you in war you still went into alliance with them in 1979. So your claim it was the worse things Arewa did to you that made you vote against Buhari does not make sense when juxtaposed with precedents. Ironically the Ojukwu who did his best for you, you rejected him at the polls all through. |
Awolowo diverted the funds for East post war reconstruction to Lagos. OBJ was there for Eight years, he never reconstructed the second Naija bridge, he jailed Uwazurike, Gowon jailed Ojukwu in 1983. Awolowo was not in position to divert funds for the development of Lagos. Gowon was in charge and Ironsi had introduced unitary system which Gowon would not repeal due to Ojukwu’s stubbornness. It was that unitary system that developed Lagos rapidly. Awolowo on the other hand was a consummate federalist. Igbos allowed themselves to be bribed by IBB into endorsing OBJ to the displacement of their own Ekweme who was the rightful PDP ticket hopeful. So whatever OBJ did to Ndigbo was Ndigbo’s fault. |
The Arewa and Yorubas who were there before GEJ never built the second Niger bridge either, they never reconstructed the East after the war. The Only Yoruba man who ever rose there was voted in by Igbos but rejected by his people. The Arewas (Shagari, Balewa) who also ruled had Igbo VPs. The GEJ who later came on board was the adopted son of Igbos. So it is the fault of Igbos themselves that the second Niger Bridge was not built. |
OBJ though Yoruba was a consensus builder, his heavy votes in Igboland however were influenced by the riggin machinery of PDP. Seeing as there wasn't any major Igbo presidential candidate up against him in those era, the voter apathy in the East in presidential elections those years were goldmines to PDP rigging machinery that controlled the East at state level. You can only rig where you are popular or where the people don't care. You are still holding onto this trash theory of rigging being only possible in an area of popularity. Why do you keep on reasoning against natural logic? If a person is popular in a particular area does he need to even rig there? Are elections not popularity tests in themselves? So the Ojukwu who contested against OBJ in 2003 did not have the status of a major Igbo presidential candidate? If Ojukwu wasn’t then who else can ever be in Igbo land? You see how Igbos belittle their heroes and themselves but turn around to accuse others of marginalization and victimization? If after OBJ stood against GEJ in favour of Buhari you still claim he is a consensus builder yet you claim Edos, whom you at least think also preferred Buhari to GEJ, are parochial then you are sick and in need serious medical attention in an intensive care unit. |
Ojukwu was a gentleman who would not speak ill of elders or the dead. He was encumbered by his spotlight status, the rest of us aren't and would continue to dish out raw unpalatable facts about Awolowo and his gang. You can cry as much as you like. Awolowo was only loved by his Yoruba people, and I doubt the Akintola faction loved him. Yet he chose an Igbo VP, what point was he trying to sell? Awolowo was never a consensus builder. He was a tribal Lord. A gentle man indeed who declared a war he was not prepared for that led to the loss of over 3 million innocent lives. The fact that Ojukwu himself attended Awolowo’s burial and declared him the best president Nigeria never had marks the fact that there is really no unpalatable fact about Awolowo unlike Zik whom Ojukwu so loathed onto death that he kept away from his burial. Akintola faction is an insignificant minority in Yoruba land, and the rest Yorubas treat them as outcasts. Awolowo was a hard headed realist who, unlike Zik, would not sacrifice his own peoples’ interest and safety in the name of building one stupid consensus with feudal lords who would later ride on that very consensus to kill his people. I don’t have any doubt that with hindsight at their disposal Igbos now wish that Zik had faced reality and dumped his stupid quest for a stupid consesnsus building with jihadists. Of what use is a consensus with a people who despite being in a democracy were claiming that they alone had the right to rule and kill? Only Igbotic stupidity could inform the desire to build consensus with killers and jihadists. It was the same thing Jonathan was trying to do. A man who burnt his goodwill with the SW and Middle Belt (which voted for him massively) and began building bridges with the Core North which did not mind killing him and his wife is no consensus builder but a victim of moronic plague. If by Biafra Logic such is consesnsus building, then I pity the quality of education that will subsist in the independent Biafra Republic. |
Inasmuch we want to leave Nigeria, we still need to exploit the Nigerian political process and other alternative means to achieve that. Catalonia want to leave Spain, yet still participates in Spain political processes. Scotland was chanting independence, yet Gordon Brown schemed himself into British prime minister post. Political participation remains a veritable means to secession. What Nigerian land did Biafra grab in 1967? Nigeria invaded Biafra and Biafra had to retaliate. It's that simple. Biafra grabbed the Midwest ans parts of the Western Region but were dislodged by the federal side. While Scotland wanted to exit UK they never insulted the rest parts of the union, they did not seek exit in a way that would endanger the lives of the other parts. They did not seek to drag any other part along against their consent the way Biafrauds are doing to the SS. They did not set up a radio station in Africa to spread hate and falsehood against other Britons. They worked it through the legislature unlike Biafrauds who have persons in NASS collecting money and sleeping during sessions. Same with Catalonia. |
Opigo, Kogbara, Imoke, Mbu, etc were also non Igbo Easterners who fought for their people and yet were close to Ndiigbo and had Igbo support are through. Each to his own. GEJ appealed to Ndiigbo because he was educated, gentle, democratic, consensus builder and every else good, as against a sectarian military dictator that was barely educated. Buhari appealed to Edos and not to the true SS, who Edo is not wiser than, for them not to know that GEJ is bad for their region, if he truly were. GEJ appealed to Ndigbo because he sacrificed the SS interest in pursuit of a Northcentric one-Nigeria. The sectarian military dictator is now addressing the fundamentals of the SS Question which your Azikiwe incarnate refused to address. GEJ was truly bad for the SS as long as he was against restructuring through an SNC. If GEJ had done so even Biafrans will not have been asking out by now. Edo remains vindicated. |
The majority of true SS still believed in GEJ and his capabilities and so spoke through their votes. However, you are entitled to your opinion( no matter how schizophrenic they may be) and not to your facts. That there are even still minorities in your “true” SS who did not believe in GEJ is an indiction that you are a slowpoke for using election results as factor of identity. If voting against GEJ disqualifies people from SS identity, then by your silly logic those who voted against GEJ in Delta, River, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa are not SSners. The likes of David West, Kokori, Charles Okar, etc who supported Buhari are no longer SSners by your puerile and senseless Biafra logic. |
