A friend's Peugeot 307 car hasnt been able to start after oil and plugs were changed.
The said car stopped on the road before we thought it was oil or plugs, but after all that, it hasnt been able to start.
whats really the problem ?
and what can i do to fix it ?

A car stops on the road, the first thing to be done isn't changing oil and plugs.

-Did you check if tour fuel pump was working?
-Did you check if the plugs where bringing spark?
-Did you check if your timing belt was still in place?
-Did you check if either your air filter or exhaust are clear?

After checking all these and your car still doesn't start, pls have the car scanned and post the codes here for us to direct you accordingly

Did a diagnostic scan on my Lexus Rx 300 2001 model and got these error p0174 and p0420. Please can someone in the house enlighten me more on what they mean? And possible solutions. Thanks

P0420: catalyst efficiency code. The most common thing is the catalytic converter itself going bad. The other likely thing is the rear O2 (oxygen) sensor going bad. Other things could include exhaust leaks, damaged exhaust pipes, damaged O2 sensor wiring/connectors, plugged catalytic converter, etc.

P0174: means the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. this can happen when your air filter has become very oily. Remove the MAF sensor and have it cleaned. if this doesn't solve the problem, have the MAF sensor replaced. Please don't rule out the possibility of faulty wiring harness to the MAF.

@ DECOtech, i have coolant shortage although it's minimal, the heat is experienced over time not suddenly and on some days I don't feel it.

As coolant shortage is not a good sign (no matter the rate) I suggest you investigate it by have a technician conduct a coolant pressure test which would help you identify the leakage-point in your car's cooling system for you to carry out repairs accordingly.

When next you feel this heat, please check to see if you have mistakenly turned your temperature nob to the hot zone and also check the nobs to see if you have opened to vents that channel air to the foot wells.

I took my car to the lube shop recently, after all the checks, the lubeman showed me a section underneath the car (a recepticle like something) saying that it's dry(contains no fluid) and that it should be filled with gear oil.I told him that there is transmission fluid in the car's transmission, but he said the section for the gear oil is different from that of the Auto trans fluid.I told him to hold on.
I'll appreciate more enlightenment on this from my fellow Nairalanders. thanks in anticipation
N.B sometimes I experience heat radiating from the footwell on the driver's side while I am driving.

Some old Camry drivetrains come with a very rare configuration where a drive axle is attached to the transmission instead of being incorporated into it (to have a Transaxle). So, in the case of the rare configuration, there's a separate compartment meant for axle fluid (not ATF).

For the heat in the foot well, I have a question.
-Do you usually have coolant shortage?

If your answer is yes, then I suspect there's a coolant leak from the heater system inside the car therefore heat from hot coolant is what you feel.

Another possible suspicion could be that there's an opening in your vehicle's firewall large enough to allow heat from the engine bay sip into the car.

Bros, I remember asking you to scan your transmission. the result would let me know what to say. Though, running to the market to buy another transmission might seem like a quick remedy.
