2mch:The last time I checked though, Ibadan was the capital of the all encompassing development driven Oodua nation and the pride of cocoa revenue induced WNDC. Yet the brains behind Oodua and WNDC did not find it necessary to develop Ibadan instead they goofed over to Lagos. Not even Abeokuta was remembered in the scheme of things from the seat of government in Ibadan. This scenario is unlike the Yoruba people I know. In the other hand though, the shameful claim of Lagos as the brain child of Yoruba industrial magic resourcefully reminded me about the real Yoruba that I know. |
2mch:What tends to generate this type of nonsensical analogy? Lagos was a nation’s capital developed from capital fund set aside from the national coffer. |
I wish Nigeria unconditional and total disintegration. |
@cap28 You probably overlooked the grandma of all time, Biafra. Biafra would have been the trailblazer of African continent. Some people may think Biafra would have been praying nation but reality would have been healthy competition and cooperation Biafra might have instigated among its neighbors. |
I am afraid if people who referred to Africa as black and Africans as black people know more than ant. No human being is either white or black. Again earth has one race and it is human race. |
I can not fathom the operational relationship of words such as hatred, discrimination, violation or denial. Nigeria is a bye product of imperial misconception. An attempt to correct the fraud had led to a bitter war which has indelibly left us with recurrent government and leadership devoid of any sense of articulation. @Ogbonaikenna, I do not think you can hate Nigeria more than I do because there is no rest for me until the cesspit called Nigeria is disintegrated. |
ROTFLMAO!!
Yes, you can ROTFLMAO as a pioneer member of ugly folks. |
Ybutterfly:Just like your silly obsession with light skinned Igbo people. |
@POST The title of this thread shows comprehensible deficiency of the poster. When the Hausa and Nupe came to Onicha to trade, who did they meet? The Mallam said “Not many Igbos were living in Onitsha then. People were coming from the hinterland to buy things. Hausas and Nupes occupied all these areas where we are now.” Of course not too many indigenes of Igbo, or Yoruba or Hausa or Nupe will live in up-shoot town such as Onicha, Eko, Kano or Minna. Again, when the Mallam said “Hausas and Nupes occupied all these areas where we are now”, he referred to area around the Bridge head not entire Onicha city as the confused poster would want us to believe. The settlement of the Sabon Gari by non-indigenes of Kano does not translate Igbo, Yoruba, Ibibio or Edo was in Kano before Hausa. As much as I am not in position to cede the position of landlord to the Mallam, favorable mention should be made about a man who had every opportunity to join the northerners and majority of southerners to prosecute a war against Ndigbo and Biafra yet he risked death to join Biafra and stayed with Biafrans throughout the civil war. In may book, Alhaji Mallam deserved honorary citizen in Igbo land. |
Ybutterfly:The Igbo and Yoruba babes I considered beautiful are not light skinned. What triggers your infatuation with light skinned Igbo person? |
One wonders what Port Harcourt Seaport powers SE and SS at large, economically retrogressive? |
@POST Affirmatively true!!!!! However, my Yoruba babes are up the ladder too. I do not settle for less. |
@POST Nigerians in conspicuous position of power tend to fan stupidity. Instead of attacking the issues that breed tribal sentiments in Nigeria, they are busy making threats nobody pays any mind. All the goodies about military installation in Nigeria are situated in the northern region of Nigeria. Any Nigerian wishing to join the armed forces is meant to recite his or her tribal and community stance in order to determine if quota system should have a place for him or her in the armed forces. Economic infrastructures in the country are rather situated based on tribal yardsticks than sense of nationalism. There are only two gateways to out or into Nigeria and both are tribal instigated. The soldier called Idoko should have spoken out on clear inequalities built into the psychic of Nigerians which has granted loud voices toward disintegration of Nigeria. One of these days, Idoko would wakeup and will not see country called Nigeria talk less of tribalism. Nigeria should strive to create sense of equal belongings in order to slow down the urge to gravitate towards tribalism and disintegration of Nigeria. |
I maintain that your anger is misplaced and that the Op's assertion that Murtala Mohammed took delight in killing civilians is completely false. Your attempt at debunking anything I've written has, once again failed. If we assume that soldiers commited cold blooded murder at the order of their brigade commander, only the soldiers who committed the crimes and the brigade commander who gave the orders, would face court marshall. The divisional commander, will not face any court marshall because he has no culpability for the war crime. Stop trying to deceive gullible people here - you know exactly where I am coming from.
Murtala Mohammed has fallen before the muzzle of a gun just like the people he murdered in cold blood. I have no anger towards him because he never made any noise about the battles as did Benjamin Adekunle. I guess you realized both men (Mohammed and Adekunle) were lazy and useless field commanders. In war crime cases, the foot soldiers who actually committed the atrocities during the war were often not tried. However, the top brass army commanders are put on trial for crimes committed by soldiers under their command. |
You can't really blame Murtala Mohammed for lack of query, even if your statement is true. The millitary police who were not under the command of Murtala Mohammed had the responsibility to deal with issues like this. As long as Murtala was not directly involved in any of these killings and did not give the orders for the attrocities, the anger and vilification of Murtala by you and others, is grossly misplaced. Blame Lt Col. Francis and others, but not the great Murtala Mohammed.
Please save me this nonsense about Murtala Mohammed not directly involved. He was the GOC of 2nd division and should be held responsible for atrocities that happened in any sector under his command. Again he was directly responsible for the murder of 300 Catholic Church members at Onicha. According to logic 101 by ndu_chucks, it is wise to blame the brigade commander but divisional commander. I held the same position of blame on Benjamin Adekunle for the atrocity committed at Ogba/Egbema by the soldiers from 15th brigade under the command of Major J O Makanjuola, a Yoruba too. |
We are finally getting to the truth. At least you are honest enough to admit (see bolded above) that brigade and battalion commanders, other than Murtala were directly responsible for the Asaba debacle. hmmm, you may have craftfully dodged the bullet here, but remember that I am watching revisionists closely.
I have written extensively about this issue in previous posts. There is no need to twist the facts. As a divisional commander, Murtala Mohammed can not be absolved from the crimes committed by soldiers under his command. The 8th brigade commander whose soldiers committed the atrocity was Lt Col Francis Aisida, a Yoruba, and it is to my knowledge that no query was issued to him by either Murtala Mohammed or the army headquarters. I am very far from a revisionist. Such label should be appended on people such as you who are trying very hard to either deny involvement with the civil war which gave rise to idiotic Nigeria or shamefully justify taking side with visionless murderers from northern region of Nigeria. |
seanet02:It should have been queried. Good for you. |
This is another tale by the moonlight which you all believe if you tell enough times, people will start to believe. Where did you get this information from? You of all people should know that it is unacceptable to makeup your own account of historical events. You claim that 300 chucrch worshippers were killed as they attempted to swim across the Niger, well another one of your colleagues statted: "At Onitsha - the 300 strong congregation of the Apostolic Church decided to stay on while others fled and to pray for deliverance. Col. [Murtala] Mohammed's Second Division found them in the church, dragged them out, tied their hands behind their backs and executed them." nwannem, why can't you all, at least agree on the details of the lies you tell so that it will be believable?
You mis-read my post. It was during Murtala Mohammed’s cowardly retreat from Abagana debacle, he and follow stragglers murdered 300 church worshippers in Ogidi or Onicha as they( Murtala Muhammed and group of stragglers with him) hurriedly attempted to swim across the Niger as Biafran forces were on a hot pursuit. |
It is an absolute falsehood Mutala Mohammed saw to the court-marshal of the perpetrators. Both the brigade and battalion commanders whose elements were involved in the atrocity were not even queried. During Murtala Mohammed’s cowardly retreat from Abagana debacle, he and follow stragglers murdered 300 church worshippers in Ogidi as they attempted to swim across the Niger as Biafran forces were on a hot pursuit. @ndu_chucks, Odi kwa nma |
The great Murtala Mohammed was one of the greatest commanders in the Nigerian Army during the civil war. Unlike the Biafran generals and their supreme commander, he never, at anytime, saw it fit to abandon his people and flee. Revisionists, including their head honcho, Dede1, always try to deceive their readers with extreme lies and half truths. They are accusing Murtala Mohammed of the mastermind behind civilian killings in some parts of the Midwest, in a dishonest attempt to ruin the great soldier’s reputation. I am actually tired of opening the yansh of these revisists to expose them, but I will make an exception and set the record straight, once and for all. To the credit of some brave biafran soldiers, many of whom died before the cowards left behind fled like chickens, substantial parts of the old Midwest were captured by biafran soldiers. The great Murtala, who was then a Colonel was charged with the duty of evicting the biafran traitors from the Midwest. Murtala literally built 2 Division from scratch. Now, the biafran soldiers were as stubborn as a hungry goat that is determined to taste garri from a local garri trader setting. They pushed hard towards Lagos and when they were getting too close for comfort, the great Murtala used some ingenious and superior military tactics to drive the biafrans out of the Midwest in a blistering counter offensive which was so efficient that it earned Murtala the nick name “Monty of the Midwest” after Britain’s leading world war two commander: Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. Murtala’s bravery and wins during the war were major factors which led to the defeat of biafran secessionists. Murtala is rightfully honoured on the N20 bill and in several other ways. It is true that once the biafran forces in the Midwest had been overrun, some wayward members of 2 Division carried out a terrible killings of civilians as punishment for their sympathy for the biafrans. There is no evidence whatsoever that Murtala Mohammed had anything to do with these killings. Infact Murtala saw to the court marshalling of several perpetrators of the crime and those found guilty were summarily executed. Murtala himself was not even present in the area as he had gone to Lagos for consultation when these atrocities took place. Upon his return, Murtala personally saw to it that the mother of Major Nzeogwu was protected and not harmed. Revisionists like Dede1 are on notice that their lies will be exposed promptly and they are well advised to stick to the truth.
Chuck, how body? What is the reason behind this unfunny joke about Murtala Mohammed? Before you contaminate young minds, I must remind you Murtala Mohammed was not Nigerian Army Headquarter and never had such authority to build a platoon talk less a company. Murtala Mohammed was the highest ranked straggler in the annals of military history. He was a mere signal officer in Nigerian Armed offices. If Nigeria is a nation, Murtala Mohammed should not ascend beyond the rank of a major. |
seanet02:It is very subjective when you branded Murtala Mohammed a great man. I did not attach any iota of greatness to the bum. He was the highest ranked straggler in the annals of military history. Yet he was great to your sorry arse. |
seanet02:I am not doing comparison of any sort. It was just a fact Yoruba land was invaded by Aboki-Sokoto Caliphate. Again, Yoruba does not represent Nigeria. Biafra fought with Nigeria not Yoruba. |
seanet02:I am not surprised you adopted a lazy soldier as your hero. Anyway what does one expect from a stock of people that shook like dry leaves on trees at the sight of drunken soldier from northern region of Nigeria. |
seanet02:The last time I checked though, Ore was/is a town in Nigeria. It was a site of epic battle between Nigeria and Biafra. During the fracas, Yoruba did not have an army. Yoruba army was mercilessly trounced at Ilorin under Afonja by the Aboki from Sokoto. I know they ran their mouths then as they do today. ![]() |
seanet02:There was no record indicating Sokoto Caliphate lost 3 million people after it wasted Afonja at Illorin. |
T8ksy:When did Yoruba muster intestinal fortitude to start dreaming about war with Ndigbo? Are these not the same Yoruba who told every willing ear that no son of Yoruba was in military uniform and were under military occupation by Gowon in 1966? You loudmouths must realize that war does not resemble “owambe” by any stretch of imagination. |
seanet02:I guess you are confused about what you read from me and other contributors. Awolowo did not know how to handle a den gun talk less of engaging in ethnic cleansing. Without Ndigbo, you could not have seen Awolowo in person. Stop this nonsensical and delusional invasion of land. Militarily, Yoruba is in the class of Boko Haram. Ndigbo have been in war of attrition which was against an enemy with numerical superiority. It will be a piece of cake going against Yoruba even with the support from Republic of Benin. ![]() Ndigbo will always bit.ch slap their Yoruba junior brothers in any circumstances, anytime and anywhere. |

. Yoruba's should never fall for that no mans land crap because if hte shoe were on the other foot we see the reaction. Just from small Onitsha talkless of a state like Lagos.

. So there will definitely be a lot of people with Bini ancestry in Onitsha, reason why they would not be able to chase them out during Biafra. You will have to chase the royal family.
