Katsumoto:Please if you do not know your facts, I suggest you decease from making emphatic statements on issues you are clearly a novice. It is clearly a sin for person claiming Nigerian citizenship to insinuate that war between Nigeria and Biafra was primarily between northern region and eastern region. Maybe the soldiers of western and mid- western indigenes fought on the Nigerian side as hired mercenaries. What an empty-headed punk? During the era that you have flippantly cited in the skewed and baseless point, Lagos was the capital of Nigeria and Gowon was in the city issuing orders to 1st Area Command to launch attack on Biafra. At the time, Gowon ordered the 2nd Area Command to move the elements of Lagos Garrison Organization to Escravos for intended amphibious attack on Port Harcourt and Onitsha. The thrust of 101 Division into Ore came four months after Nigerian troops invaded Biafra. |
SapeleGuy:It is very typical of Nigerians to gloat about inconsequential. I could not believe my eyes seeing the names such Adekunle, Obasanjo, Shuwa and Mohammed who were colonels when they commanded a military units during Nigeran-Biafran civil war. A person must have the rank of a General and commanding military units be them either platoon, battalion, brigade, division, corps or army to be mentioned in this breathe. The names mentioned should be classified as the greatest retarded with the military rank of general. |
@OP Chief M. T. Mbu has been a man of splendid character. He was even magnanimous in his answers about Eyo Ita and few other political figures in the article. I guess he did not want to open a cantankerous can of worm. |
I will happily enumerate the "vested interests": The ruling elite from all parts of the country and the king makers also from all parts of the country The millions of Igbo who reside or have resided in other parts of Nigerian for decades and have made those places their homes The millions of Yorubas who reside or have resided in other parts of Nigerian for decades and have made those places their homes The millions of Hausas who reside or have resided in other parts of Nigerian for decades and have made those places their homes The millions of Nigerian minority tribes who reside or have resided in other parts of Nigerian for decades and have made those places their homes Millions of Nigerians who have inter married and have no interest whatsoever in nation states that for obvious reasons There are many more groups that I have not listed, but you get the picture. Frankly, most Nigerians do not want the breakup of the country, if you don't believe me, conduct your own personal survey when you come to Nigeria for a visit. We are in agreement that the status quo is unacceptable. We'll have to agree to disagree on the remaining part of your postulation. One thing is certain, continuously blaming the north for your woes will not help you. Charity begins at home - why don't you people start by call your thieving governors to order and demanding responsible governance for a start. this should wind beaf up
My people say that when a person insists that an idiom or metaphorical expression should be interpreted, the dowry lavished on the person’s mother is a waste of human endeavor. I would regard your condescending dribbles as feign of ignorance and allow you to wallow on inherent naiveté. It is widely affirmed that the past is prologue and any group of people with either low or high IQ that failed to grasp the misdeeds of their past endeavors are bound to commit the stupidity over again. I would be damned if I failed to allow the past history to guide the future undertakings. It will amount to foolhardy on my part to labor on faint conjectural means as a way of resolving the current irreparable nature of the cesspit called Nigeria. I would continue to stake my means and meager resources to the dissolution of colonial contraption called Nigeria into nation states. It has been evidential on this forum that mere suggesting that a befitting federal government backed infrastructure such international airport or industries be cited Igbo land or south-eastern region of Nigeria has instigated the ugly moods from cream of crops of Nigeria that are not indigenes of the region. I could have fallen for your trepidation thinking you were feigning ignorance until I stumbled onto your post with hellish enumerated junks. Are you for real? It must be recalled that Nigerians have lived, accrued enormous properties and married beautiful ladies from neighboring countries such Benin, Ghana, Togo and Cameroon. Yet the sheer weight of these socio-economic endeavors have not instigated the confiscation of properties or forced the citizenries of either nation to renounce that citizenship of their nations. Why would the dissolution of Nigeria into nation states instigate loss of properties, mitigate the conjugational intimacy between man and woman of these countries and abolish free movement of the people? |
@nchara All i'm saying is that with the present tribal ego among the major tribes, citing a gun factory in igboland means another civil war and is unacceptable.
What a nonsense coming out of a noted tribal irredentist? You will be fine if any industry fully backed by federal government of Nigeria is not cited in Igbo land. Why have we not stopped seeing ethnic and religious riots since DIC is cited in the Kaduna? Maybe given the dexterity of ethnic and religious riots that dotted the landscape of northern region of Nigeria since 1945, you would have at least voiced your ethnic-biased but skewed opinion against citing arms industry in part of the country. |
Ndigbo as well as Biafrans have never and will never be afraid or scared of the northern region of Nigeria. But issue is the well-being of the intestinal fortitude of certain ethnic groups in Nigeria to ably understand who they were and acknowledge their surroundings. The events of January 15, 1966 and subsequent irrational behaviors that followed would remain to dictate the present and future faith of Nigeria. As much as Nigerians would readily recline into pretentious mood and sometimes deny the shameful behaviors of certain ethnic groups in Nigeria during the downs of 1966, the fact remains that the events of that era have doomed Nigeria forever. We must forget the so-called revolution as we may know it as laymen. The only solution to cesspit called Nigeria is either peaceful dissolution of Nigeria into nation states or total anarchy foisted by war of attrition. |
chosen04:Please my dear chosen04, do not even try to bother your humble self with issues raised by one delinquent efulefu and the pattern of his/her skewed stream of thought. |
What the skewed article failed to inform us is the figure amount in monetary numerations the present tenants such as Shell, Chevron, Exxon-Mobile, Conoco-Phillips, ENI and Total are remitting to Nigeria. Everything about Nigeria looks awkward including this Chinese crude oil proposal. By now, Nigeria should be capable of erecting state owned or encourage indigenous drilling companies. I am of the view that crude oil companies operating in Nigeria have taken Nigerians for a ride too long. |
Every phenomenon on earth is subject to a change. The issue is not whether varying degrees of climatic changes are noticeable but the socio-politico-economic scheme and hype mounted by interest groups from developed countries are the damning issues. It is an elementary geography that deforestation for social and economic purposes will deprive the earth ability to absolve the heat of the sun from the atmosphere into the soil. By the same token, the earth has the capability to engender corrective measures to the issues of earthly environment |
If there should be any national sovereign conference, I am of the view that the matters of discussion should only center on how to determine the boundaries of the sovereign nations rising out of the present cesspit called Nigeria and manner of diplomatic protocols. I recalled that Nigerians woke up one morning and heard that Bakassi peninsula had been ceded to Cameroon simply because the colonial masters have decreed. Why did Nigerians not go to war on the account of the alleged huge crude oil reserve in Bakassi? Why should we fight because certain groups have decided to go their separate ways from Nigeria? |
Both federal and state Legislatures should be enacting laws that will stipulate hanging of political office holders that embezzled funds meant for the populace. Kidnapping is fall out from the embezzlement of public fund by the politicians. |
OAM4J:Siblings often engage each other in fight and many times, there cousins will gather to settle differences with wise and honest concessions. If the ekiti and Ijebu decide to dull in Odua Republic, the Ife will step in to settle the differences with honest and no jaundiced deliberation. |
Whether it should be a matter of wild assumptions of wrong or right, what ethnicity did what or not, what section of the jungle called Nigeria gets befitting infrastructures, I am unflinchingly bent on disintegration of Nigeria. The crux of the retrogressive nature of the geographical expression lies with the act of fusing nation states into one cesspit called Nigeria by the colonial buffoons. There is no doubt that Nigerians have run dry on the spirit of good neighborhood since dwelling together under one roof called Nigeria. There is a shining indicator that nothing tangible will come out of present configuration of Nigeria and the only solution is disintegration. At this stage of Nigerian current affairs, the idea of calling for national conference is a mere succor to the status quo. I do not give a rat-ass if war of attrition is the only method that will see to the disintegration of the colonial contraption. However, if the only amiable solution warrants granting sovereignty to every ethnic group in Nigeria, I am for it. |

Pharoh:Please we must try hard not to slide into the disingenuous mucky waters of Nigerian history. I specifically stated that January 15, 1966 left the experiential federalism intact as evidenced when one of the regions checkmated the center in every political endeavor. It was the July 29, 1966 coup via Gowon that ushered in the unitary system with the central government dictating to state government through the vices of 12-state federal republic of Nigeria. I shall leave the assumptions to the dictates of the weaker minds and reiterate that the only coup of 1966 tailored along ethnic or regional line was the one of July 29, 1966 that opened the plethora of ills that besieged the cesspit called Nigeria till today. |
stillwater:I suggest you take a bath and apply some ointments to your wrinkled old body. Do not forget to soak your foggy bottom too. Please do not workup yourself dreaming about debating with meaningful people on this forum. The last time I checked though, Anambra State is graced with multiparty system and equally human beings of gifted intellect. It does not surprise me a bit that the polity in that state is a very competitive business devoid of cow-towing and good old-boy grandstands. Based on the colored section of your post, I deduce that the construct of your grammar, if left in the confines of the foxhole inhabited by an irredeemable troll such as you, would invite the hell to the earth. |
stillwater:What a low ball? Are you fantasizing that Dede1 should engage in an intellectual discourse with a lowlife and rabbis infected raccoon such as you Madam Stillwater? I am on this forum to strictly maintain well elevated social strata and never insinuated that crossing words with foggy-bottom such Stillwater is a remote option. |
Pharoh:I am still waiting for clear and discrete simplification of the thought that we have true federalism until the coups of 1966. However, I am of the view that the January 15, 1966 left the powers of regional government intact hence Ojukwu’s wielding of enormous power in the eastern region that scared the living daylights out of the boys in Lagos parading themselves as representatives of the so-called federal government. My beef is the deliberate attempts of many nairlanders to sidestep the truth when dealing with issues that could give any hope of unity to the cesspit called Nigeria. The federalism in Nigeria as we elementarily knew it came to end after the successful coup of July 29, 1966. Gowon and 1967 Nigerians killed the true experimental sense of federalism in the colonial contraption called Nigeria. |
stillwater:It is only douche bag such as you would construe unity to being sheepishly political agreeable. One of the cardinal merits of democracy is the convention of being able to agree to disagree without being disagreeable. When USA was in her infantile stage, gentlemen that graced the political trails of that era often settled political disagreements by dulling. Anambra State is simply showing political maturity in the sense that being world acclaimed figure does not buy anybody an unchallenged path to the state house. If you were given 20 options to discern the real meaning of federalism, hell will freeze over before a senile in you can be reasonable. |
stillwater:What imbecilic conjectural craps? These are the makings of a loafer. |
SapeleGuy:Please expatiate on the above notion. |
@OP You are a demented dimwit with incurable ailment. What is wrong for a woman being a housewife? Maybe your mother is an office-wife or hotel-wife instead of a housewife. If you do not have proper control of your wobbling hands, please seek for medical attention instead of being a jackass. |
OPCman:You are a comical dimwit. It does not seem you will ever outdo your silly self. Please use dictionary for the literal and metaphorical meaning of words. By so doing, you can at least distinguish yourself from your forbearers who thought that ceremony is party, owembe. What an insult to a stock of people? |
jabbok:When I read statements such as this one, I marveled at the degree of delusion some so-called Igbo person has fallen. I am not interested in patting myself at the back but must mentioned that while in the University in USA, all northern students had federal government scholarship as being attested to by Sanusi of CBN. In fact, majority of them majored in funny discipline and yet were given reserved jobs after graduation in Nigeria. I am very thankful to my family for the moral support given to me while in pursuit of academic laurels and my present position in North America. Like many other Igbo chaps that left the shores of Nigeria in the 70s and 80s, I can be able to provide for my families both home and abroad. However, individual achievements do not negate the fact that Igbo land had been subjected to punitive political marginalization and economic strangulation by the central government piloted by individuals bent on prosecuting the civil war in the hallways of federal government of Nigeria. I knew how much money and time Igbo people contributed towards the realization of Owerri airport. The groups behind the building of the airport meant to erect a befitting International airport but federal government stepped in to stop such momentum. If there was not such initiation by Igbo chaps abroad in conjunction with other well meaning Igbo people in Nigeria, such project would not have existed. I urge the writer of such feel-happy crap and wildly deluded nonsense to point out any federal government presence in Igbo land. If Nigeria is worried about the perceived successes or lack thereof in Igbo land, it is absolutely in good order for the people of Igbo land to revisit the dreams of sovereign nation. The agitation for Biafra could not be validated by the actions of our neighbors or shape of resultant country but the inherent zeal of Ndigbo to control their destiny. |
NMA should be worried about Nigeria being called country. If an organization such as NMA with seasoned educated bunch has not fathomed out that Nigeria only exist on piece of a book called atlas, then it has no reason to complain. The geographical expression in Nigeria is a cesspit and undeniable jungle. The action of flying the president to another developing country is a damnable endeavor on the part of Nigeria. The colonial contraption called Nigeria needs to be destroyed for the sake of humanity. |
if federal government upgrade enugu airport as planned, and people fit fly to enugu from lagos instead of disgracefully travelling for 24hours to enugu, that should be looked at as a step forward. ko kwa?
At least, you seemed capable of reading but comprehending is another task. There is no doubt that I made my intentions clear in my previous post about hatings in flying to Lagos or Abuja on my trips to Nigeria. My intention is to either fly to Enugu, Owerri, Uyo or Port Harcourt. I do not fly into Wash. DC, Philadelphia or New York in order to reach my final destination on my trip back to North America. |
I was visiting Associate Professor at Swarthmore College, USA, and promoted Professor of Economics at the age of 38 (University of Nigeria, Nsukka). I lived and worked in Ethiopia, U.K., and the USA and travelled to 45 other countries before joining Government in 2003. As consultant to 18 international organizations (including the World Bank, IMF, OECD Paris, European Union, African Union, USAID, UK-DFID, ADB, IBM Consulting, USA; IDRC Canada; Chemonics International, USA; United Nations, UNIDO, ECOWAS, COMESA, CODESRIA, UNCTAD; AERC Nairobi) I garnered wide ranging experiences and knowledge. I was also the founding Executive Director of the African Institute for Applied Economics, Enugu. I have to my credit over 80 scholarly publications, 15 books, and over 250 monographs, conference papers and public lectures. Any person who has read the above portions of Chukwuma Soludo’s curriculum vitae and still has the audacity to question the source of Soludo’s gubernatorial expenditures is a bona fide dullard The mere consultation fees of the four companies or organizations list above are enough for Soludo to run for presidency of Nigeria talk less of governorship |
He has been an irredeemable fool for a human. |
What is wrong with most Nigerians? Some of the losers in Nigeria would want any rain dancer for a president. What a waste of fortune? |
There is no state governor in Nigeria, present or past, had half of the Curriculum Vitae of Chukuwma Soludo and yet nobody ever asked them where their gubernatorial expenditures were sourced. |
OPCman:Whatever formal education you received can be construed as total waste due to your incessant feign of stupidity. The leader or head of government idoed necessarily become the Head of State or commander-in-chief of the armed forces of any country based on certain governmental modality. The prime minister does not request the President to insure a proclamation for dismissing or dissolving a government in which the prime minister leads. In parliamentary system of government, many political parties have a stake to the government due to number of parliamentary seats the parties held in the central legislative body. Most of the times, the party that produced the prime minister did not win enough seats to command outright majority therefore must have to enter into a coalition partnership with other parties with the same or slight differences in political manifesto. However, the political marriages could easily hit the rock and coalition partners may wish to engage another partner or win more seats if a fresh election is staged or when the prime minister and politicians from the political party with seniority in coalition start to breach the coalition agreement which could lead to a sitting duck government. When such political impasse is reached, the opposition group or even coalition partners would motion for vote of no confidence on the government of prime minister. If the majority parties in government could not defeat such motion and it is tabled for voting and eventually passed, the president will order the prime minister to dissolve the government and set the date for new federal or general election. You are one loudmouthed slowpoke that has decided not to hide your inherent incompetence. You do not need to go schizophrenically agog with issues beyond your pedigree. Is there nobody with good heart to put this dimwit on a leash? |
