How could you stupidly talk trash about Igbo girls that you know absolutely nothing about when your qualification as a human being is seriously in doubt?
No human being is identified as Delta Igbo or Imo Igbo or Ebonyi Igbo. You are probably of Igbo stock from Delta State, Nigeria. Please disabuse your delusional mind for crying out loud. |

May God bless the boys of January 15, 1966 coup. One of reasons that spurred them to partake in that coup was lowering the standards required of the officer cadets before joining the military. The government of Tafawa Balewa cheapened the selection process so that many northern Nigerian school leavers that would not ordinarily have been selected as officer cadets were accepted instead. It is not a surprise that Nigerian army has produced the largest number of officers that lacked honor, integrity and discipline |

The murderous and brutal excesses of the dullards in Nigerian military and police uniforms should have been curtailed if the Nigerian citizens were permitted to own and carry concealed weapons.
The power-drunk Nigerian military and para-military people understand the vulnerability of unarmed populace and decide to take undue advantage of such regrettable situation. In a country such as USA, both military and paramilitary people are overly cautious when approaching civilians that transgressed talk less of civilians under the umbrella of the law.
I have repeatedly stated that Nigeria is common jungle and not even a game park. |

If deposit of crude oil was discovered in the northern Nigeria at the period when crude oil was struck in the southern Nigeria, the so-called Republic of Nigeria would not have been created.

It is partially planed because the spread of Islam to West Africa was facilitated through the Trans-Sahara trade routes dating back to the 15th century Old Ghana and Mali Empires. |

I am strictly bent on the Republic of Igbo land that will encompass the territories stretching from Abaomaga to Igwe Ocha Mbara Ama/Igwenga and from Agbor to Arochukwu.
However, the Igbo republic will still be open to discussion of merger with Ibibio, Ogoni, Annang, Atama, Ogoja, Ijaw of old River states and Idoma of Benue state. If the aforementioned groups could not reach mutual agreement to form united sovereign nation, Ndigbo should forge ahead with the declaration of Republic of Igbo land.
I am not sold to the idea of Republic of South Nigeria. |

real4life: No but i have been following posts on nairaland long enough.
you are right on that point, what I am looking for is the "real motive" behind this plot to break Nigeria
You and I know that the North as a region is not the real problem of Nigeria. For one, the idea that the North has ruled the country for most of the time since independence does not hold much water. Those greedy military men do not have tribe, culture or religion, they are simply officers and everyone else is a bloody civilian. The North has suffered as much as (or even more than) the south since independence. We have been despoiled and battered by the military rulers, our civilian looters and corrupt government lobbying businessmen. The way forward in Nigeria is to do away with these criminals, seize their stolen cash and property and declare independence afresh. We must not waste our precious time and talent redesigning maps and looking for pins in the ocean. The bolded statement is a feel-happy and also-said construct that holds no iota of truth. I guess you can convince the soldiers of northern region of Nigeria that executed the July 29, 1966 coup that there were no tribe, culture or religion, they were simply Nigerian officers. Ironically, this same northern group of officers that precipitated the said coup has constituted into the ruling class of military men that ran Nigeria into the abysmal depth of socio-politico-economic point of no return with the help of cowed southern Nigerian counterparts. The group picture of draft playing officers says more than words. |

It is a dastardly weak approach as many Nigerians employ the planks such “our corrupt leaders” in an argument against disintegration of Nigeria. It is Nigerian society that produced the so-called corrupt leaders. If the protagonists for One Nigeria will continue to blame our corrupt leaders, it will be proper to wipe out the entire Nigerian society including the protagonist and antagonists. I think that disintegration is the best option.
I honesty believe that the problem of Nigeria hedges on the tribal differences, ethnical bias and the effects of British colonialism. If Ndigbo would have a country, they would not standstill and watch their leaders lazy about while the leaders in Yoruba country are performing wonders. Such human endeavor on the Igbo leaders will draw mob actions from the people. This same scenario would take place in Yoruba country if the Igbo leaders are performing magic.
The disintegration of Nigeria will usher in a healthy competition among the nations and give rise to sound bilateral cooperation between the nations. Granted that necessity was the drink of Biafra, a person can not the discount the competitive zeal that existed among the compatriots in order to manufacture win-the-war tools. |

sjeezy8: Yorubas arent sell outs because they dont have an agreement with the any tribe or region.
One there will never be an arewa republic because of the norths dependence on ND oil. Even sultan of sokoto wouldnt want that.
Two why would any sensible yoruba join Federal Republic Of South Nigeria with those who have anti yoruba sentiments in them? When have the East and West ever agreed on anything?
Yorubas voted for olu falae, the East voted for Obasanjo Yorubas voted for Mko abiola, the east voted for Bashir Tofa Yorubas voted for Awo, the East voted for Zik Abacha killed and imprisoned many promninent yorubas, Ojuwku befriended Abacha
Three Federal Republic Of South Nigeria is a joke as if the East or west wont try and secede on their own. Im being realistic During the 49 years history of colonial contraption called Nigeria, Yoruba people have never voted for Igbo presidential candidate in election. Despite the tribal and pathetic trend of Yoruba voting for their sons alone, Ndigbo had shown mature and advance social character by voting for a Yoruba candidate. It is very funny on the part of sjeezy8 to write off Igbo people as being ethnocentric in example of simplistic election sequences that beg to differ from his/her objectives. When G-34 was formed, all permutation was leading to Alex Ekwueme as the flag bearer. However, sensing the possibility of Igbo person becoming the president, all the previous agreements that will see a merger between G-34 and AD were dropped by Yoruba leaders in AD and insisted on running alone. However, certain political moves were adopted in PDP that saw Obasanjo as the flag bearer instead of Ekwueme. By this time, it will look pure ethnocentric on the part of AD leaders if they would turn around and support the Obasanjo. During 1999 election, AD became a local Yoruba party and did not last long after the son of soil became president. By 2003 election, AD, the Yoruba party, was a history and died a natural death. However, it has accomplished its purpose by stopping any Igbo extraction from ascending to the position of presidency of the jungle called Nigeria. |

Why are you so obsessed with sates in the Niger Delta, could it be because of oil? Lol ,you just exposed yourself by saying your tribe has links in those states. Even if they do you are not in a position to force them to join you. Majority of the people in those states do not see themselves as Ibos ,they see themselves Niger delta people. There are yorubas in Kwara ,delta and Edo states but we don’t see them as full member of our Yoruba land. Do you think MEND member will say they are Ibos? You are one of those insecure easterners who feel that they can survive without the Niger Delta. Katsumoto: You can not share what does not belong to you. If Nigeria splits into three Regions, the North or West will not have any share of the resources in the Niger Delta. I am confident that the Yorubas will find other sources of revenue; the North should do the same.
This is not 1966; the North can not fight a southern Nigeria or wage several campaigns against Biafra and Odua. Even a retard knows that the North will be comprehensively defeated. Do not for one second think that the North can use WAR as a threat against Southern Nigeria.
There is nothing practical about your suggestion. Your suggestion is analogous to the practice of paying homage to superior kingdoms in ancient times. The North is not superior to either a combined Southern Nigeria or a split southern Nigeria with a common goal and enemy.
If the concept of Nigeria only appeals to the North because or resource control and access to the ocean, then I think we should start preparing ourselves for this break-up either peacefully or violently. I never advocate violence as a means of resolving issues but do not for one second think that we will be afraid to fight if it boils down to it. You are spot-on about the allege war between North and South. It will not take the shape of Biafra versus Nigeria war. Maybe the negotiable aspect of North/South division of Nigeria is access to the sea ports. It may come with heavy tariff. |

EmperorOlu: I don’t know why most guys on this forum feel that they cannot express their opinions without lunching insults at a poster. You already lost me in the first sentence, any relevant point you are making has been over shadowed by your lack of common sense to know that this topic should be devoid of insults. We are here to discuss alternatives to crude oil and the fact that a nation can be built without crude not to discuss how many farm lands your tribe has or why Nigeria fought a civil war in the 60s.
You have demonstrated in your comment exactly what I voicing out about, the obsession of Nigerians with oil, you have also shown us that you have been poorly educated. You did not read and UNDERSTAND my comments before jumping to spread your cock and bull theories about Nigerian geography. The Biafra I mentioned in my comment has nothing to do with the biafra of 1966 but instead more to do with an Igboland of the future.
You claim to know a lot about Nigerian geography but I must say that your education in geography is seriously flawed. For your perusal, I have attached a current map of Nigeria. Mordern day Igboland is limited to Imo ,Anambra ,Abia and Enugu. While the real Niger Delta includes ,delta, rivers, bayelsa, Edo,Akwa Ibom and cross-river.This is logical based on the resident tribes located in each of these states. Except you want to steal one of these states to be your own. Are you for real ?saying that Igbos have no need for cross river to access the sea, please point out to me on the Nigerian map where modern day igboland has direct contact with the sea. If cross river refuses to join Ibos ,they will have reach some sort of agreement to allow ships pass through the Niger Delta to any seaport in Imo.Go back to school and make sure you slap your geography teacher. And please be informed, I am Ondo and pure Yoruba.
Think before you write and in terms of education don’t even dare go there, your comments has shown you lack any moral integrity as well as common sense let alone proper education. I should not attempt to banter with you. I have read many posts you contributed to this forum. As an Igbo extraction, it will amount to irreparable idiocy to lecture the Yoruba audience where Yoruba land started and ended or use the creations of states in Nigeria that were born out of vindictive approach to adjudge the start and end of Yoruba land. If you were wise enough, you would have stuck with the discussion of Nigerians moving forward without crude oil and avoid the silly digression to Biafra and sea lanes. You should realize that anybody that ventures to this forum is not a kid. The readers on this forum can easily sniff out posters who found joy by hiding behind textile curtains while throwing disingenuous jabs at certain group of people in Nigeria. I can not seriously help your education if you do not know that Igbo land is incorporated in few Nigerian states such as Delta State, Rivers State, Akwa Ibom and even Cross River State. In your previous post on the thread titled “Federal Republic of South Nigeria”, I came across these: “The Odua Nation (ondo has oil) The Niger delta Nation The Biafra Nation ( imo has oil) crossriver state could be added to biafra to allow IBOs access to the sea”When I wrote that your knowledge of Nigerian history and geography is shaky at best, it was not intended as an insult. |

EmperorOlu: Agriculture Manufacturing Mining Property Boom Development Offshore Banking Technology Development Privatization of several sectors like Power and Water
Just to name a few, all the above can be implemented with just $25 billion. The money our corrupt leaders steal annually is way more than that.
Some of the richest people in Australia ,South Africa and the USA are farmers. What i am saying is that if we don't try we will never get up. Oil is not our life ,there are millions of Nigerians who do not benefit from our oil revenue so i disagree with you when you say oil is our life line. I will put it this way ,our government and our people are obsessed with oil. EmperorOlu: I have being studying some of the discussions on this forum ever since I joined last week and something I have noticed is that Nigerians are generally not ready to give up on our oil revenue.
I have seen several people calling for the south to be ceded but every time they draw a map ,it always include the Niger delta. This shows that as a people even with the amount of well educated folks that we have on this forum we have not evolved mentally to understand the principles of capitalism and how it can be used to develop Nigeria without OIL revenue.
I feel that the OIL Nigeria has is a curse to us because it has bread a society of corrupt political mafias who feel hat the presidency of the nation is their birth right.
If you ask a Yoruba on this forum what he will like the map of a seceded south to look like ,he will always include the Niger delta states as part of his map but not the Ibo states ,if you ask the Ibos what they will like the map of Biafra to look like they will also include the states of the Niger delta but not the yorubas. The Yoruba believe that they cant survive without the Niger delta and the Ibos also believe the same.
I must say that is so unfortunate, it is this same oil that has damaged our environment in the Niger delta and imprisoned our economy. Because of this same oil Nigeria’s economy is one sided instead of being diversified. There are many countries all over the world that do not have Oil but their yearly revenue is higher than ours and their unemployment rate is way lower than ours. Why is that so?
It is a shame that all the above countries have better planned economies than Nigeria. Nigeria is naturally richer than all the above African countries but in terms of GDP per capita we are poorer. That is just not right at all. Most of the countries above do not even have a single drop of OIL yet they are able to distribute wealth amongst their citizens.
The point I am making is that we don’t need oil to become the super power of Africa again, we just need master planners who are skilled in diversifying our economy and expanding our agriculture produce. If we can put more focus on mining ,manufacturing, technology and agriculture, we can even generate more money that oil in the Niger delta.
If we want to split Nigeria ,it should be every tribe for it’s self ,instead of calling for a southern Nigeria ,why don’t the Yorubas go their own way , the Niger deltas go their own way and the Ibos go their own way. There will be long lasting peace that way. If the south splits from the north and we remain together there will still be problems because knowing my Yoruba people and the Ibos ,they will never get along. They will fight for power which could lead to a civil war in the new south nation.
It is best the south splits in to three nations
The Odua Nation (ondo has oil) The Niger delta Nation The Biafra Nation ( imo has oil) crossriver state could be added to biafra to allow IBOs access to the sea
My fellow Nigerians ,let us abandoned our obsession with crude oil, in a few decades from now ,all the cars and the airplanes will be using green or portable nuclear energy. What will we do then? The USA has already built warships powered by nuclear reactors. What makes you think they can’t develop massive aircrafts that can will be powered by nuclear reactors? I read somewhere that NASA intends to develop a new type of space shuttle that will be powered by nuclear power? We could see something in the next 20 years that will resemble the STAR TREK USS Enterprise powered by Nuclear reactors able to transport 5,000 passengers from Lagos to Sydney in 45 minutes at warp speed. The world is developing at a rapid rate and they are leaving us behind in many sectors. We have to start thinking out of the box and think about the type economy we want to leave for our future generation. Countries like Japan and china are secure because for the next 100 years people will still be buying and using electronics, what will Nigeria be doing then?
Look at our fellow African country South Africa, their government is spending billions of dollars on technology, South Africa is the only African country that has it’s own electronics company developing and manufacturing LCDs TVs locally :
That is food for thought for all of us, we don’t need oil, we need economic diversification and massive technological developments.
P.S apologies ,i mispelt Nigcria in the Topic's heading. It is unfortunate that your academic background did not include the study of basic geography. In addition, the inadequate academic standard you received failed to prepare you against the deceptive terminologies such as Niger Delta and South-south that are floating around in the jungle called Nigeria recently. I could not fathom the reason behind ignorant expression that insinuated that the so-called Niger Delta landmark is not part of southern Nigeria. Is the area designated as Niger Delta not situated in the contiguous part of southern Nigeria? I hope the author of this post is not among the inhabitants of backwater joints of Nigeria who always think and convince that Biafra was limited to Igbo land. For an umpteenth time, Biafra was about self defense and the real Niger Delta, as drawn by the Royal Niger Company and Christian Dioceses of Southern Protectorate baring the recent crude oil inspired creations, is situated in the defunct eastern region of Nigeria. On a serious note, Igbo land does not need Cross River state to have access to the sea lanes. At least it is very refreshing to read from the poster that Igbo land had a gain of sand not crude oil. I am of the view that the poster could help him/her self by knowing the fact that what constituted Igbo land stretches from landmarks such as Abaomega to Igwe Ocha Mbara Ama/Igwenga and Agbor to Arochukwu. In fact most of people that had continue to agitate for sovereignty of Igbo land do so to avoid having compatriots such as this poster and step away from the crude oil madness that had inflicted some Nigerians. |
The allegations and many of his assertions are indeed based on hearsay. Dede1 and other revisionists like him peddle these untruths all over the internet and simply expect everyone to accept these untruths as gospel. He has no evidence whatsoever to support his claims. Dede1 should provide supporting evidence if he has any.
Pal, how about holiday? I thought you were an antagonist to the global warming crap? I am surprised to read that you have gone gaga with a cyclist such as David Ejoor. |

Katsumoto: Your allegations seem to be based on hear-say. They may be well have been true but they can not be fact without substantiated evidence.
You allude that Okafor's failure was not due to incompetence; how can you really say that. It is a fact that Okafor was sent after Maimalari; Maimalari escaped but only then ran into Ifeajuna who promptly executed him. You also allege that Okafor 'went after Ironsi' (no evidence of this anywhere), and still Ironsi escaped as well. So how do we define incompetence if he didnt complete a single task?
Why do you equally say Ifeajuna completed his tasks flawlessly? As soon as word was out about the coup and its impending failure, he killed his targets in cold blood and fled to Ghana. Why did he not go after Ironsi who was quelling the coup? That was the rational and bold action to take. By engaging Ironsi in a winner takes all fight, they might still have had some hope in accomplishing their objective. “Maimalari escaped but only then ran into Ifeajuna who promptly executed him” 2nd paragraph “Why do you equally say Ifeajuna completed his tasks flawlessly? As soon as word was out about the coup and its impending failure, he killed his targets in cold blood and fled to Ghana”. 3rd paragraph Please explain the factual correlation of these statements. In one instance, he promptly executed his target. In another instance, he waited and sniffed that the coup was about to collapse then Ifeajuna eliminated his target. “Why did he not go after Ironsi who was quelling the coup?” The statement portrayed you as a person who knew little about military parlance. You expect Ifeajuna, with four soldiers, to go against the GOC of Nigerian army that now in command of military cantonment in Yaba? Even Maj. Chukwuka who tried to bluff his way into the Yaba military cantonment was lucky to have escaped without being summarily shot by soldiers on sentry on the orders of the GOC. |

The present colonial contraption known as Nigeria does not fit the definition of a nation. The cesspit called Nigeria is a shaky amalgamation of nation states. There are no existing and fathomable factors that could solidly and steadily glue the nation states together.
I resolutely believed in the disintegration of the colonial contraption called Nigeria. The idea of national sovereign conference should be an option if the subject of discussion should hover around disintegration. |

Katsumoto: Where in any of postings did you discern I was idolising coup-plotters? I merely said that the July coup was a revenge coup. Was is not a revenge coup? The coup plotters have never hidden that fact. The whole world knows it. What we are debating is whether the January coup was an Igbo. We are presenting facts, arguments, and counter-arguments. Should we be debating what is considered a generally accepted fact? If ndu_chuks or anyone else wants to debate about whether the July coup was a tribally motivated coup, then we can have that debate.
Onwuategwu was to flush out Ademulegun; was he in a fortified bunker? He was in his bedroom for crying out loud. Ademulegun's wife was shot and she period; Shodeinde's pregnant wife was shot but she lived. The facts are that they were shot. Neither you nor I was there to ascertain under what circumstances they were shot. We can not take the killer's word as gospel. Thank you for your comment about Shodeinde's wife; I have read several conflicting literature; some say she died, some say she lived. Your argument to portray the plotters as less blood-thirsty is weak. Why were Balewa, Muhammed, and Okotie-Eboh killed when it was apparent that the coup was not going to succeed? Afterall, they were resisting arrest.
Your account of Ironsi eluding Okafor is not a fact; it has not been recorded anywhere. You have mentioned that the plotters were strategic in their objectives. Now tell me, what were the strategic reasons for going after Maimalari before Ironsi?
Can you please provide a reference for the comment you made about corrupt and tribalistic soldiers? So first they were killed for strategic reasons, now you say some of them were killed because they were corrupt. You are therefore alluding that only Northern and western officers were corrupt and tribalistic. That allusion is very ludicrous. Again, I did not venture to this forum in order to hold brief for the coup plotters. However, it is not a rocketry science to fathom that nobody undertakes coup hoping it will fail. It had been alleged that Col Unegbe was involved with shady deals as the Quartermaster-General. Col Abogo Largmann was alleged to be the errand boy of Bello and Akintola. He turned himself into a conduit tube of political subversion in western region of Nigeria. Balewa’s government was alleged to be epitome of anything wrong about governance. Oketie-Ebo was alleged to have embezzled tons of money and political malpractices. Brig, Ademolegun was an alleged tribal icon and a man who helped introduce ethnic bias into the army. Brig. Maimalari was alleged to have been the father of nepotism and tribalism in the army. It does not pay dividends to allude or subscribe to fallacies but if you have more credible facts than the ones given, please proffer them. When people are bent on corrupting history they will readily accuse contrarians with act of allusion. Please be reminded that coup process, like any other process of human endeavor, is assigned to different participating teams. Some teams will perform and complete their tasks as drawn while other teams may stumble. The teams assigned to either arrest or eliminate Balewa, Kur Muhammnd who was the acting Army Chief of Staff, Maimalari and Okotie-Eboh performed their tasks flawlessly. The successful teams were led by Ifeajuna, Anuforo, Chukwuka and Ademuyega. The only team that stumbled was led by Okafor and it was not due to his incompetence but the tip off from the wife of Maimalari to Ironsi. |
