@POST Nigeria is a parasite. It is a dead-end human endeavor talking about parasites inside a parasite. |
PhysicsQED: If he's starting a new party, why take the acronym of an old party from the 60s?UPGA was not an acronym of a political party in the 60s but alliance. I hope he does not wish to invoke the memory of that alliance. |
olaheavy: @sayusuf, or what the Bleep your name is, you must be insane to think that the cannibalistic Igbos would subjugate the Yoruba if and when Nigeria breaks up! Even you Hausa/Fulani bastards can't touch us not to talk of the human-eating Igbos! Infact, ask your elders in the Arewa who won the fucking Biafra/Civil war! It was definitely us, Yoruba! Without us the smelly, ragtag Igbo foot soldiers would have run you down down. Idiot! You are the person who seemed delusional through your post. How goofy are you to compare Igbo with Fulani or Hausa? Baring help from nobody, the combination of Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri and Yoruba is no match to Ndigbo. The smelly arses of Yoruba would have been whipped 7 ways to Sunday if not for external help. |
torkaka: didn't i school you enough? fulanis are not indigeneous in benue. even in taraba they are only in girei local govt. You are an imbecilic teacher who thinks Obasanjo’s draconian boundary adjustment is a final arbiter on who is or not an indigene of a state. I guess you must be a fool forever if you think the Fulani or Hausa in those states will disappear into the air. You could try ethnic cleansing though. |
@POST This is what I call show of political backbone or balls. I wholeheartedly support the idea of division of the cesspit called Nigeria if a northerner, even if he/she is dumb and senile, did not emerge in 2015. It is unfortunate certain moronic southerners crowned the dullards from northern region of Nigeria as leaders and rulers in 1967. |
Since the reason you projected to support your goofy rant is colossally wrong, I deduce you are dastardly wrong on assumption “that is just not ph”. Is there any particular marker on the picture that disqualified it as PH? The picture could even represent some place in Shomulo LGA, Lagos State. |
gegee: do u live in ph ? cause if u do u will know that bikes are banned in phThere is no place bike is banned in Rivers State. I have both motor-powered and human-powered bikes. I guess banned in certain areas are commercialized motor-powered bikes. |
@POST I would have loved the story of Ime Anwana if she was posted in her home state of Akwa Ibom. There are more than ten (10) places like Kaffin Koro, Niger State in Akwa Ibom State. I know this for sure. |
GAR3TH: I dont think you understand why an airport is considered international or not. It has to do with airport equipment and NOT A FANCY TERMINAL. I can build a small 10 sqaure foot shack and it will be recognized as an international airport as long as I have the required infrastructural, technological and circulation equipment that can accommodate international flights. I agree that lagos does have a larger terminal than PH, which leads to more passengers, but thats not the point. The point is the ratio to the total number of flights. According to FAAN Lagos received 2,749,000 domestic passengers and 2,300,000 international passenger, A ratio of about 1:1. Kano, yes Kano, received 188,722 domestic passengers and 134,760 international passengers [high demand most likely cause by pilgrimage], again a ratio of about 1:1. But port harcourt received 1,034,506 domestic passengers but only 47,081 international passengers, a ratio of 22:1. Thats the difference I'm talking about. Abuja and some other cities also have the same problem, High Domestic demand but Little International demand. What I'm saying is that building 3 airports with such a low international demand is suicide. Right now is not the best time to be considering Airports. linkThe constant projection of skewed statistics to support tribally biased argument is one of the reasons Nigeria will never see the bright side of the world. You can not even correctly name one airline that flies into the so-called Port Harcourt airport. Besides KLM and Air France, there is no other international carrier that goes to Port Harcourt. Even the two have allied into SkyTeam which means you get one for two. These nonsensical figures and ratios could only mean a thing if the number of carriers granted landing permit to fly to Lagos or Kano is equal to number of carriers granted landing permit to fly to Port Harcourt. You can not have EDUCATION without U. |
@POST There are three threads in counting that have highlighted the clashes between Fulani and Tiv in three states namely Nassarawa, Benue and Taraba states. The Fulani and Tiv are indigenous natives to this states named. |
Aigbofa: What is good for the SE is also good for Nigeria, and am saying this without any mischief; A fast and efficient rail service (for goods and passengers) to connect the SE with other major economic hubs in Nigeria. That is all you need for now, in my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion but it is very illogical to think that two (2) persons that bring three (3) bags each will equal twenty (20) persons that bring two (2) bags each in summation for a period of one year. I guess the Southeasterners know better than anybody what is economically good for them. |
Why should people get twisted out of human form because Chekwas formed another party in a political system that encourages part politics? I remember this political metamorphosis AG UPN AD AC ACN |
Aigbofa: You are talking logic with people who deal in raw emotions. Even if they manage to build the three airports and the only passengers they get are migrating birds from the Kalahari, they will still find something or someone to blame for it.What nonsensical logic are you writing about? Jerry Rawlings of Ghana could not even fly into Enugu or Port Harcourt without touching down in Lagos. |
GAR3TH: When did I resulted to insults in any of our debates? its only you and your crew that keeps insulting me when you fail to have a reasonable reply. look at my post history, can you find were i ever insulted you?Did you factor the politically influenced the grant of landing rights to only two carriers in your silly 13,000 international passengers a year statistic? I would want you to extrapolate your figure with number of landing rights granted to air carriers headed to Lagos or Abuja. I hate when Nigerians throw silly comparison into an argument without encompassing all the variables. |
I like the northerners very much. They always have a standby plan. It is very out of place and defies any logic that Nigerian army had to escort 3000 to 4000 Fulani herdsmen southwards instead of northeastern or northwestern direction of Nigeria. Please Imoke do not waste anytime to send these disguised Boko Haram guerrilla fighters back to Sokoto, Kano or Born states. This is another phase of deeping Quaran into Atlantic without firing a shot. |
Onlytruth: Almajiri goat. There are adequate International airports in arid places such Sokoto and Maiduguri. These international airports are functional ones every year during haji. My Pam Am flight touched down at Kano International airport en-route to Lagos in 1988. Nigeria must be disintegrated I promised. |
debosky: I have no issues with that - you should be able to visit wherever you want to go in speed and comfort. I would love as much as you to be able to step off a plane in Onitsha and drive 15mins to my factory instead of having to fly to Asaba and drive across the bridge, or fly to PH.There is no one particular best way to invest in economic activities. Anything that will attract investment and encourage people to spend money such as hotel bills during stopover in Lagos or Abuja should be encouraged. There is no doubt in my mind that a functional international airport at Enugu or Port Harcourt will force government to build good roads and hotels. There is something called tourist attraction. |
Eze NL Gburugburu Only Why not start by publicizing your ideas in popular newspapers in your state and hope that your governor gets the message. Don't let NL Eze get in ya head buddy. Make sure you wear running shoes when you get to your governor's office because they may send the vicious office dog after you.
Look at this canny fellow. You want poster to publish his business ideas in a popular but local newspaper so that you will hit home run with it. Have you ever heard about industrial secret? |
debosky: You have provided no evidence of such political factors - that airlines do not patronise PH does not mean the FG is responsible for this lack of patronage.I am yet a Nigerian and should have a choice where to spend my hard earned money in the jungle. It is not a fun when one spends two days on the trip to Nigeria and one night in a place such as Lagos or Abuja. When I am on trip to Nigeria, I have no intentions to swell the economic pocket of Lagos State through hotel bills. Furthermore, my idea of economic redistribution does include Lagos and Abuja. I had rather inject my portion of such human endeavor in cities such as Owerri, Asaba, Port Harcourt, Aba, Umuahia, Enugu, Uyo, Onitsha and Abakiliki |
Nnenna1: As much as I have my opinions on this topic I also cannot help but notice the general contempt and dislike certain posters here have for the SE. I don't know when this sort of mentality will end (probably not for a while), and it is indeed a shame. The tendency to show spitefulness on anything Igbo by most Nigerians is the octane that fires my zeal to agitate the formation of Republic of Igbo land or quick and sudden disintegration of Nigeria. |
debosky: I have been consistently speaking against wasteful airport projects for years now - it is nothing to do with tribal location.I regret the idea when Nigerians point to ridiculous analogy in order to snatch a point. For the sake of this argument, South Korea has 9 functional International Airports, 11 functional local airports and 10 military airbases most of them are equipped to handle Boeing 747 during emergence landing. Nigeria has two inadequate International airports, no local airports and no military airbase. How could sane fellow draw any form of analogy with these two countries? South Korea might have been overambitious to punch its weight in the world of development but Nigeria is nobody in such world show. I can not percieve three or four functional International airport as over ambition for country such as Nigeria which term itself as fool’s giant of Africa. Nigeria needs good network of roads and terminals too. |
debosky: I was referring generally to existing flight arrangements - not just Lagos and Abuja - Kano and PH also have regular international frequencies. Simply because you find them inconvenient is not sufficient reason to build new airports. In fact, undue weight of bias seemed to cloud you vision on this debate. To your question of “why have the ‘30%’ of MMIA travellers from the SE not switched to using PH since it is closer? Why do they all still use Lagos?” I have repeatedly pointed out in my previous posts the political factors are responsible for few landing rights granted to air carriers except two to Port Harcourt International Airport. As a result of limited air carriers, the airfares of these two carriers are very exorbitant and schedule becomes attendant of the air carriers mostly not conducive to the fliers. The FG of Nigeria created a monopolistic presence in Port Harcourt International airport and left the fliers with no alternatives. I touched down at Port Harcourt from Paris about 8PM local time. By the time the checkout is done, the time is 10PM yet I had to go to Owerri at such time with bad road couple with menace of robbers and kidnappers. |
debosky: So where is the evidence that direct flights into Abuja and Lagos are insufficient? You need direct flights into each mud hut in Nigeria before you can have investment there? What a nonsensical poser. Debos, what are you smoking when you wrote this crap? What do you mean by a question such as “So where is the evidence that direct flights into Abuja and Lagos are insufficient?” I am not talking about sufficient or lack thereof. I am talking about convenience, safety (bad roads and local coffins they fly in Nigeria), time and memorabilia. Lagos is 270 miles to Owerri and Abuja is close to 1000 miles to Owerri. Why in the world would I want to fly into Lagos or Abuja to get to Owerri on bad roads or fly in a coffin while Port Harcourt is 51 miles away from Owerri? Should I fly to Boston or New York from Nigeria for an intended journey to DC? Though granted the fact USA had good roads and transportation systems, such option is not in the cards of any right-thinking fellow. Most people in DC find it hard to fly to BWI (Baltimore Washington International Airport) which is 44 miles away from DC. Instead they opt for Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia which is 30 miles from DC. |
debosky: I am not insinuating anything - provide EVIDENCE of the FG trying to 'kill' PH airport or keep your imaginations to yourself. There is no doubt you came with load of bias to this debate. All you have been writing is roads and gullies or lack thereof in Igbo land. I guess the argument the original poster made was south east of Nigeria is due for 3 International airports. It is unfortunate you kept asking for evidence when the FG of Nigeria is final arbiter on the landing rights with regard to Nigerian airports. If the government of Nigeria has no hand in stymieing Port Harcourt airport, why is it only two carriers can go to Port Harcourt from abroad? During the patch-up of Port Harcourt airport, Air France begged the FG of Nigeria to permit landing rights in Owerri but Nigeria refused the request. I could not believe reading such tribal-tinted post from you. From roads to airports, it has been the responsibility of the FG yet failure is what we get. The Port Harcourt-Owerri road, which would have made a journey from airport to Owerri memorable one, is neglected by FG of Nigeria. Yet you have the audacity to ask me for evidence. |
This is not the way legal systems work in civilized societies. Again assuming that GEJ has the right to contest in 2015 under the section you referenced (I think not by the way), why should the supreme court not entertain any lawsuit that seek to clarify Section 135 or any other section? The supreme court is there to interprete constitutional provisions and has already ruled that 2 terms or 8 years in office is what was intended by the framers of the constitution. I don't believe the supreme court will allow anyone to attempt to elongate this tenure of office through the back door. What is the basis for the bolded in your post above? I don't believe you can find any legal basis for that statement, if you do lets have it.
Any law suit based on the section 137(1)(b) against GEJ's bid for second term should be regarded as frivolous litigation. In USA, courts do not accept every law suit. Many law suits are thrown out on the bases of lack of merit. |
bittyend: Nna, the SE don't need three airports - I'll suggest one airport on every street in the whole of SE.bettyfool, you are one reason among numerous reasons Nigeria remains a backwater. An average Igbo trader wants quick rate of turnover in his or her business and sorry arse railroad system and poor networks of roads are not enough. Even if they might be “okrika cloth sellers” or “shoe makers”, it is imperative to have quicker ways of transportation of goods and service than currently in place. Anyway a malnourished punk such as you does not have pedigree to tell average Igbo trader what he or she needs for bulk movement of goods. |
Let me post Section 137 (1) (b) 137. (1) A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if - b) he has been elected to such office at any two previous elections Section 137 (1) (b) speaks to whether a person shall be qualified for election. Assuming that GEJ is qualified to run in 2015, this section does not give GEJ the right to elongate his tenure. He must then vacate the office after spending a total of 8 years, whether he was elected 3,5, 10 times or not. I don't think the supreme court will put the country through the chaos that will ensue from this. The very best GEJ can get is to run in 2015 but not remain in office for all of the 4 years. He will have to vacate office just as the Governors were ordered to do back in January. There is enough to prevent GEJ from running in 2015 according to other provisions of the constitution - lets wait for supreme court's interpretation.
Again, the question remains has GEJ being elected to the same office at two previous elections. If the answer is no, the Supreme Court should not entertain any law suit arising from GEJ’s bid for second term. |
I am saying that the fact that GEJ did not contest the first election does not give him the constitutional right to occupy the office for more than 2 terms or 8 years. As I said earlier, lets assume that GEJ is allowed to run for office in 2015, when do you suppose that term should end? Remember that the supreme court has already ruled that Governors and by extention Presidents cannot remain in office for more that 2 terms or 8years (regardless of whether they were elected for two terms or not). GEJ will have to vacate office after being in office for 8 years. Why do you disagree with this? Lets not narrowly interpret the constitution. Please support your stance with the appropriate constitutional provision - guess work will not suffice.
No, I shall not meet with you in the horizon of assumption. I am sticking with Section 137(1) (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999. Of course, the supreme ruling that Governors and by extension Presidents cannot remain in office for more that 2 terms or 8years (regardless of whether they were elected for two terms or not) is in line with the constitution. The supreme did not say Deputy Governor who became governor due to unforeseen circumstances should not be elected to 2 terms. |
Onlytruth: Exactly my brother!Sometimes most Nigerians in their infinite ways to spite Ndigbo tend to smack themselves in the mouth. I love the deepwater seaport in a place like Akwa Ibom but the manner some folks express their inert thoughts on this forum; I had rather have such port in Opobo (Opu Obu) instead. |
nwannem, based on the sections I posted, the real question is, can GEJ stay in office for more than 8 years? The Supreme court ruled that the Governors could not. Assuming, for the sake of argument that GEJ is allowed to contest in 2015, then he must vacate Office at the end of 8-year period in office, just like the Governors were forced to do by the Supreme court last January. My guess is that the supreme court will save us the chaos by disallowing GEJ to run in 2015. Whichever way you look at it, GEJ cannot elongate his term in office past 2 terms or 8years. The supreme court has already set the precedence for that by sacking the Governors who tried to do that last January. GEJ should do the right thing and put Nigeria first, We don't need the associated crap which will ensue as a result of his contesting in 2015.
Nwanne, I guess the governors you referenced in your post contested or challenged the gubernatorial election in court of law and won. In GEJ's case, he has only contested one presidential election and won. I also know that Yar adua contest one such election and won too. Please feel free to inform me when GEJ contested first presidential election in Nigeria |
Onlytruth: I also know a lot of diapora folks who wants to move their business, or locate a branch of their business in Nigeria.I heard you sound and clear, bro. People who have never tried to bring partners to Nigeria through the ports other than Lagos or Abuja will never understand the essence of direct flight into Nigeria from abroad. I will not mind a quick and hassle-free road journey for my guests but the stopover in Lagos or Abuja with local flight inconsistence and in certain cases sudden outright cancellation of flights. |
debosky: Any evidence of this claim that the FG 'wants to choke it dead' or are you simply making things up?Are you in any way insinuating that air carriers will take off and land at any airport deemed necessary without auhtorization? Please try to book a direct flight to Port Harcourt from certain air carriers other than air France or Lufthansa and listen to the response. |
