bittyend: Are you not one of the biggest culprits? How many times have you insulted Awolowo and Enahoro on this forum?Shut up your putrid mouth, fool!!! The only nationalist among them in Nigeria was Zik. However, certain credit should be dropped for folks such Awolowo, Bello, Balewa, Marculey, H Devis, Mbanafo, Ejike, Imodu etc. Shut up your putrid mouth, fool!!! I have never insulted Awo but rebutted unfounded arrogations on his character by loudmouthed punks such as you. The only nationalist among them in Nigeria was Zik. However, certain credit should be dropped for folks such Awolowo, Bello, Balewa, Marculey, H Devis, Mbanafo, Ejike, Imodu etc. |
This issue is very simple in my opinion. Another term in office by GEJ will essentially elongate his tenure contrary to constitutional provisions. Let’s look at section 135 more closely because it clearly defines what a 4 year term means. •The President shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of four years commencing from the date when- This means that after a period of 4 years in office, the President shall vacate that office. The question left is, when does this four year term commence. •(a) in the case of a person first elected as President under this Constitution, he took the Oath of Allegiance and the oath of office; and This would have applied to Yar’Adua if he had not died. •(b) in any other case, the person last elected to that office under this Constitution took the Oath of Allegiance and oath of office or would, but for his death, have taken such Oaths The above clearly states that Jonathan’s 4 year term began at the beginning of Yar’Adua’s term. That was why GEJ had to run for office for a second term. What this means is that Jonathan is in his 2nd 4-year term as defined by the constitution. If he runs in 2015 and wins, I predict that that election will be nullified for the stated reasons. GEJ should save the country from a lot of headache and additional chaos by simply announcing to the world that he will not attempt to subvert the constitution of the great country of Nigeria by contesting in 2015. I’m sorry to say that the fact the GEJ did not honor the PDP gentleman’s agreement of power sharing, is a major factor in the explosion of violence in Nigeria, particularly in the states he won in the North. His running for office in 2015 could do even more damage to the country. I’m counting on GEJ to do the right thing this time and not allow the vultures around him to bring him down for good. GEJ is a kind and good human being, but the same cannot be said about his handlers.
The question is has GEJ being elected to the same office at any two previous elections. |
@POSt Tibet is not an independent sovereign country yet. The man was protesting against the Chinese rule in Tibet. By the way, the peeps that fought for Nigeria's independence without setting themselves ablaze are being insulted everyday on this forum. In addition, anybody who expresses the knack for ethnic nationalism in Nigeria is insulted and called tribal bigot. |
@POST Hunger really dealt with Bros, GEJ, in that picture. |
I still can't understand the logic behind this thread, I'm sorry. Isn't Port Harcourt International Airport half dead?
It is so because the federal government wants to choke it to dead. I believed there are only two carriers with landing rights to the so-called Port Harcourt International Airport. Due to the scarcity of carriers, the airfare is exorbitant and time of flight becomes attendant of the carrier. |
debosky: It's been a while since I saw a post with such shocking lack of sense. There are many factors which lined up to mitigate sound comparison. Worse among the factors is tribal politics witnessed in all the societal strata in Nigeria. You are very much right about the roads that lead to/fro the so-called International airports in Nigeria. Even Lagos that boasts many landing rights to good number of air carriers has issue of good network roads connecting MMA to the hinterland. Seriously, I can not find myself booking flight to Lagos if I had to spend 7hours on the road to the east. I lamented bitterly when I set foot on the so-called Port Harcourt International Airport recently. There is nothing international about the port. You can easily mistake the airport to an abandoned crack house. When one finally gets out of the shanty huts for airport, the networks of roads to nearby cities are death traps and robbers dens. It took 2hours from Port Harcourt to Owerri, a journey that should not last more than 51minutes. Although the governments of Imo and Rivers State are working very hard to create dual carriageway between Port Harcourt and Owerri, via the so-called International airport, the federal government must punch its weight on the improvement of infrastructure of the airport. Also, with needed improved airport infrastructures, federal government should extend the landing rights to more than two carriers. There is no doubt the volume of traffic will increase if many carriers are granted landing rights to Port Harcourt International Airport. |
@POST A well thought out essay with good criticisms. Despite the efforts of people such as the author of essay, Tokunbo Ogunbiyi, to educate Nigerians about the civil war, many morons are calling for a rematch on this forum. The question I put forward to them is “a rematch of civil war against whom”. Ndigbo or Biafra can fight and defeat each of the ethnic groups that teamed up to fight Biafra without help from Britain, USSR, Egypt, UAL and Australia. I would want the loudmouthed punks on the forum to read this essay. |
@dede your take on tiv people is totally wrong. all you posted are from an ignorant point of view which most southerners are guilty of. i was guilty of this same ignorance until i travelled to makurdi and gboko(head quarters of tivland). since then i've done a bit of researching on this people. they're no hausa/fulani fights over control in tiv land, they don't even share a boundary. the conflicts there are isolated at border villages btw benue/nasarawa and wukari/takum axis in taraba. these conflicts involve nomadic herdsmen ravaging farmlands and thereof clashing with the farmers. you will agree that this is not a solely tiv problem but one that affects most of nigeria and even west africa. these nomads during the dry season move southwards for grazing. on the issue of islamic influence in tiv land thats like saying there is igbo influence in ile ife. you really goofed when you said tiv dressing and names are islam influenced and that some one was mistaking tiv for idoma, jukun and co. it is actually the other way round. you are most likely to find ,jukunS,igalas with first names like audu, attahiru, musa etc. it is rare to find such names amongst the idomas and almost impossible to get such amongst the tivs.tiv names are very unique and are at times jaw breaking or lovely; herman iorwase hembe is a tiv man, mike kaase aondoakaa is tiv so is barnabas andyer gemade, gabriel torwua suswam, samuel ortom, george akume and paul iyorpuu unongo. do those names sound islamic or hausa/fulani to you?. are you aware that benue is the only state in the north that hausa is not spoken? tiv and idomas that speak hausa are those that grew or schooled up north.you are likely to find more hausas in port harcourt than in benue(not proven). the tiv paramount ruler is called 'tor tiv',second class chiefs are called 'ter' and the third class chiefs 'tyoor'. they have a distinct traditional attire(the black & white dress). so if i may ask where did you get your assertion that tivland is influenced by islam or hausa fulani?
How many states in Nigeria serve as home land to Tiv? Do not imply I am out to destroy Tiv. |
torkaka: ^^^^^ mumu you don't know jack! unfortunately for you my work makes me shuffle between benue, kogi and taraba. so let me kick back and educate you.Sometimes it is good to allow irredeemable morons to wallow in their depthless stupidity. History does not start and end with names of individuals or expired so-called Kingdoms. Again Tiv (Munchi) were not recognizable force when issue of stopping Caliphate’s southeastern move is being discussed. |
torkaka: @dede1You sound very unintelligent indeed. In what constituted as Tiv land is being contested by Fulani and Hausa today. I know many Tiv people that have Yusuf, Musa and other Islamic names in their names even though they are Christians. In fact, you have appeared to be totally lost in your bearing about the real estate occupied by the Tiv. I hope you are not foolishly mistaken Idoma, Igede, Igala and Jukun people for Tiv. Whether Makurdi is named after a Yoruba run away slave or not, it is none of my business. |
Ah Ah, how can you call a war fought with superior stratagems and weaponry of the era, a wrestling match? Wait make dem catch you hia.
Nwanne, I am not interested in exchanging jabs with the loudmouthed punks such as Blacktooth or Dayolodo. I say superior stratagems and weapons in Kiriji wars my foot. I had once hinted that Ndigbo communicated the strategic withdrawal into the jungle and unleashing of jungle warfare to Bashorun of Ibadan as he used them against the Caliphate. Some of the loudmouthed punks arrogated the Igbo mercenaries as African-Americans that even took Yoruba women as wives. |
torkaka: ^^^^^ i thought it was the TIVs who stopped the spread of the caliphate eastwards! "una no even sabi lie" . rewriting history thats all you okoro do. the caliphate who could not islamitise the tivs and idoma, jump over them and landed in igbo land to be defeated by the igbos? i go die with laughter!Keep thinking because that is only the stuff you are made of. There are many trails Caliphate left behind their wake such as Islam, mode of dressing and naming convention. Islam would have had a stronger hold on Tiv, Idoma and Igala lands than seen today if not the chase the Ndigbo gave to Caliphate. Even the British followed the same partner in its fight against the Caliphate by assembling troops on Nkwo Market day at Akegbe. In today’s Nigeria both Tiv and Yoruba lands easily showcase the handiwork of Caliphate. |
olopolo geisha. This was exactly the same thing oju-iku said till he caused the death of millions of okoro children.Funny enough, the idi'ot ran away when he could no longer stand the heat from the black scorpion.mehn, black scorpion really did maximum damage and flatten iboland. To all you who think ibos can survive any war now,i can only pity cuz the ND minorities are wise now and i doubt if you'd be able to fund any war without oil.The situation now will be like someone that was to be burn, who later rub petrol on his body.Wahala dey o !
Benjamin Adekunle in pure military parlance was a lazy soldier. If there was no urgent need to maintain a shaky coalition of warring partners, Gowon would have dismissed Adekunle as commander of 3MCDO earlier than he, Gowon, did. Please find a copy of “My Command” written by another loudmouthed Yoruba soldier who fought on the Nigerian side of the debacle. Even Gideon Alabi-Isama rubbished Adekunle in his book. Mind you that Alabi-Isama served under Adekunle. |
torkaka: ^^^^^^ dream on player. when it comes to war within nigeria the igbos are top spot of those with no bragging rights! You have not made your ethnicity known yet so that we can see which war your forbearers fought. If you are a Yoruba do not mention the wrestling matches called Kiriji wars. When Caliphate decided to invade, the so-called Oyo Empire capitulated. Within Nigeria, nobody had attempted stepping foot in Igbo land without regrets. An attempt by Caliphate to head southeast was met with furious reaction with the defeat of Caliphate hence Akegbe debacle. One of Ogisos lamented about the worse blunder he ever committed was an attempt to move southeast ward. War shall not constitute into bragging right of Ndigbo since the Igbo society remained republican. However, Ndigbo’s societal conformity can not be misconstrued for weakness. All the internal powers never messed with Ndigbo. In fact, it is recorded that certain besieged kingdoms had sought military help in the form of mercenary from Ndigbo |
Nigerian must learn to proportion blames and praises. Akpabio did not start this project. The project was completed under his watch which deserves commendations. But the praise of visionary wit to construct the roads and bridges to join the infrastructural demands of deepwater seaport being constructed in Akwa Ibom shall go to the former governor of Akwa Ibom State who started the project. Governors should be judged based on the visionary input to state development not on completion of thought out projects by a former governor. |
torkaka: ^^^^^ so which group will the igbos defeat in this new found war? my point through out was this; how come it is the perpetual war losers that are always calling for war?I shall bet my last kobo that no single ethnic group in Nigeria will slip into war path with Ndigbo and survive to tell tales of the battles. Ndigbo do not have the knack to dominate its neighbors through the war. This is not because Ndigbo do not have the wherewithal to do so but to maintain the principles of live and late live while giving each other a fair competition. There is no single internal ethnic force that stepped feet on Igbo land without beating a hasty retreat. British had until 1914 to negotiate peaceful settlement against opposition from Igbo land. Those who sare aying Ndigbo did not learn from the war are pitifully shameless because it took massive support from Britain, USSR, Egypt, UAL, Australia, Niger, Chad and Cameroon for Nigeria to defeat Biafra. Like Jerry Useni once said, “Nigeria’s numerical strength notwithstanding, baring support from countries such as Britain, USSR, Australia, Cameroon and Egypt, Biafra would have dealt with Nigeria”. |
torkaka: @dede1If you were sincere as you would want us to believe, you would seek to know a rematch against who or what. Biafra will surely give a rematch against those who teamed up against it but shall be one-on-one bases next time around. Time shall tell all of us the shape which the rematch will take. I guess it is too early for groups of people in Nigeria to engage in celebration over the defeat of Biafra because it is not over until the scores are evened. |
It is funny Nigerians realize Nigeria is not a country when one brain-dead inhabitant of the jungle who happens to be highly placed in the society opens his/her putrid mouth to make a pronouncement. Nigeria is nothing. |
Callotti: I don't patronize such 'romantic' adventures for traders. You shall never disappoint, dudette!! Which trader in his right senses would want to put his fingers in your cobweb infested virgina? |
torkaka: @karl maxYou kept throwing analogies that are moronically illogical. It is apparent display of ignorance to posit that Japan bombed Pearl Harbor hence the World War II. Europe had many wars never named World War. It became world war because Germany and its allies engaged any country not an ally in a war of attrition hence World War. By the way, what is your ethnicity or are you one of the ninnies who are very ashamed of their ethnic group? You have written like person whose ethnicity is a thing of trivial in Nigerian context. |
bittyend: STOP MOANING, OLD IGBOMAN. THE OP ALREADY GAVE YOU THE BEST OPTION, IF YOU REALLY WANT BIAFRA. PLEASE DECLARE REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA AND GET A REMATCH - IF NOT STFU FOREVER!!!Good, you know I am old enough to hump your mother. So I demand some respects unless you have no respect for your father. Again, if the rematch shall be against the folks of your stupid ethnicity, whatever that maybe, Biafra shall pit Biafran girls in uniform against loudmouthed punks such as you. |
GAR3TH: What does Igbo have to do with Niger Delta or the Debate? This is what I'm talking about that you keep jumping around in circles. The main Argument is what is defined scientifically as the niger delta. But you instead 1st drew your own map, then you denounce my map which was based of the scientific definition, then you came up with the delta triangle, then you said its based on opinion, then you said the asaba thing, now your saying its because I am desperately trying to remove igbos from the delta region. You are a bloody fool of little significance. There is nothing scientifically about Niger Delta but geographically or politically. The real estate that has been erroneously referred as Niger Delta actually is estuaries formed by Rivers Niger, Benue, Imo, Urashi, Utamiri and Qua. Remove the tribal induced politics of Nigeria and misguided priorities, the readily evocation of Niger Delta into the political discussions among Nigerians will cease to occur. The moronic poster of this thread does not even understand the dictates of tribal land ownership. |
CyberG: Being away for a while and back, I am not particularly surprised that the rhetorics of daily political exchange, especially, along inter-tribal lines has not improved but gotten worse! One bone of contention is the Civil War of 1967-1970 and it was previously established that less than 0.0001% of NLanders at that time ever saw the war or experienced it. Unfortunately, it appears that the rather "gracious" ending of the war of "no victor, no vanquished" is now the Achilles Heel of most young Nigerians who are very impressionable and refused to learn the facts or reflect deeply about Nigerian history.CyberG (Cyberfool) = kingOflag (kingOlodo) You are a rejected dunce of consequential proportion. I guess the inherent treacherousness in you can not allow you to think clearly. It will be unforgivable blunder on any parent to allow second grader to take a history lesson from malnourished jackass such as you. It is funny you flaunted your depthless ignorance in public through the conjectural crap you put up to represent a thread. The facts and figures are dastardly wrong yet a gull such as you have effrontery to show your face when issues beyond your intellectual pedigree are being discussed. I could not finish reading the piece of junk due to fallacies and ill informed conjectures. Please try again to, at least, get certain figures correct. No clue is necessary at this time because I do not want a lazy arse hole such as you to get smart. |
I am not surprised that when you people are cornered with superior points, you quickly seek refuge and hide under the skirt of "You are pitting Igbo against Isoko, Ijaw, ND people e.t.c" . Well, that is not good enough. You, on the one hand, claim that the said people in the littoral states are your brothers and you don't kill your brothers, while on the other hand, you claim that half or one-third of the land in the littoral states belongs to Igbo. You further, through your unrepentant and able Chief spokesman, nwannem Dede1, state that "If there should be any spiral of arms in Nigeria now, there must be inter-tribal wars, aggressive territorial expansionism and sectional uneasiness" Pray tell, how are you going to fight this inter tribal war without killing? Abi na Juju una go take make Ijaw people, Isoko people, Ogonis, and others disappear from their land wey una dey call Igbo land? Stop speaking from both sides of your mouth. Give up this unpatriotic talk of biafra and join us in building a new Nigeria. Its about time, buddy.
For the sake of posterity, can you, without iota of bias, indicate the boundary lines between Ogoni, Ijo and Isoko? The ethnic groups mentioned have never for one day engaged Igbo in a fight over anything talk less of a piece of land. I think what kept you on the dark side of ignorance about boundary lines and peaceful co-existence among the ethnic groups in the southeast of Nigeria is the unwarranted and draconian boundary adjustment executed by Yoruba and Hausa. You sounded very condescendingly disingenuous when you referenced that Ndigbo had ulterior motives to claim lands belonging to minorities because of crude oil. Ndigbo will give away crude oil free of charge if it is a requirement to gain sovereignty. However, Ndigbo had not intention whatsoever to forfeit what belongs to them. |
First, I remind you that Nigeria is already a sovereign nation recognized by the UN and all nations on earth as such. You of all people should now that calling for a separate sovereign nation within a great nation as ours is tantamount to treason. If your call gets serious enough, I guarantee you that Okorocha and others will ensure that you are dealt with accordingly. Secondly, you claim that the outcome of the civil war would have been different if Nigeria had not received help from few African friends but you actually meant to state that you may have done better if you understood what it took to win a war. Please be advised that when you are at war, you don't fight fairly. You plan, you strategize, and seek the help of ANY willing friend in order to skew the odds in your favour. The incompetence and poor strategies employed by your commanders got you whipped easily. You are going to make the same mistake again by believing you can fight the ND folks. Trust me, if it came to that, friends, motivated by the spoils (oil), will come out of the wood works and deal with you once more. 40years later, folks will say they lost the war because ND friends helped them. Before you contemplate the prosecution of any war, just remember that our people dey talk say: Anaghi eje akwa onye kwulu udo (No one attends the funeral of a suicide)
If I remembered correctly, agitation for sovereign nation does not originate from the sky. It is usually organized by group of people within the confines of sovereign nation often recognized by UN. So I believe your talk of treasonable felony is misguided. As for the war you seem to reference, those who locked horns with Ndigbo and Biafras would not want to face Ndigbo again without the help from Britain, USSR, Australia, UAL, Egypt, Niger, Chad, Dahomy and Cameroon. If there should be any spiral of arms in Nigeria now, there must be inter-tribal wars, aggressive territorial expansionism and sectional uneasiness. My people say Anaghi aso mgbagbu aga ogu (Essence of death does not prohibit war). |
@OP Please get some education and stop the ignorant analogy of England and Africa. In comparable stance, Europe and Africa should be in the level of reference. Since Europe did not adopt English language as official language, it will foolhardy for anybody to expect Africa to adopt Kiswahili or whatever as official language of Africa. Whenever you go to or stop at Milan, Italy try asking direction in English language. You will be treated like a slowpoke and the Italians will pretend that they did not hear a word of English you have spoken. |
@POST I like the peeps from northern region of Nigeria. They usually do not equivocate on issues about Nigeria which go contrarily to their political believes. All these talks of democracy in Nigeria are total baloney when there is no equity and justice. Nigeria would have heard it clear and sound about the political displeasure in the north if a zone has only five states in the north region while other zones in the rest of country had seven or six. |
@POST This is one of the reasons Ndigbo seem to board last in Nigeria. Reasonable people in other parts of the cesspit called Nigeria are exploring the loopholes in the country in order to arm their people while the overfed morons in Imo State’s corridor of power are busy thinking about means to disarm the citizens. |
If, at all, Gani Fawehinmi fought for goofy anything, he did so for Yoruba. |
What you are doing is calling for war, despite the fact that you've fought and lost the same war. Lets assume for a minute that the states in the Northern and SW parts of Nigeria allow you to separate, how do you expect to grab what you call Igbo land from the ND region? Do you think you can singlehandedly defeat the Ijaws, Isokos, and other ND people in a real war? Your constant call for war is not very bright. You need to change this silly idea of breaking up Nigeria. Go On With One Nigeria
It is only in the world of ndu_chucks that a call for nationalistic movement or sovereign nation tantamount to declaration of war. I guess you wanted to insult Ndigbo by posing this question – “Do you think you can singlehandedly defeat the Ijaws, Isokos, and other ND people in a real war?” Ndigbo will not get good fight in squaring off against Nigeria without help from few African nations talk less Ijo, Isoko and other ND people. Republic of Igbo land will send Igbo girls in uniform to take care of any threat from the quarters you mentioned. |
Nigeria is a colonial blunder that must be erased. I do not give slightest fig if Igbo land turns into a heaven of corrupted Homo sapiens as long as it has no sovereign association with what used to be Nigeria. |
Callotti: Looks like you just found that word 'cocotte'!I had rather take a bullet than hump a slimy stinking landfill such as you. |
