Chukwurah003:
Face masks help, yes. But they’re not a total solution. Given the number of uneducated people in Nigeria, going that route without a restriction in movement would be a disaster. I hope you’re aware that the number of infected people in Nigeria is much higher than what we read here or see on TV, because we’re not testing enough. This virus is no joke...ask the black community in the US after joking that it doesn’t affect black people. Mind you that’s a country with a proper healthcare system. Here you’ll go to a hospital and meet no doctor. Nigeria cannot afford to be sloppy in handling COVID-19.
Lets stop hypocrisy, no one cares if another dies, protect yourself, stay home, same Nigerians are stealing and diverting palliatives...anyone dumb enough to risk his life its on them, people die everyday in Nigeria normally, lets stop pretending like we like each other...government job is enlightenment, we can not stop everyone from doing what they like, but we can save the economy, the nation.

Chukwurah003:
Safety measures in Nigeria? We both know that won’t work. The evidence is there.

Don’t compare Corona outbreak in Nigeria with developed countries. We don’t even have healthcare infrastructure. We would get it much worse if care is not taken. Bodies will liter the streets.
this is what the media want you to believe, wearing of face masks is better than staying home...do you really care if others die ...if they die due to negligence its on them...economy affects us all...this is hypocrisy, they dont care if we live or die...dying from hunger is worst death.

mind you, am talking of Lagos state.
PoliticsRe: Need to assess the lockdown in Lagos, to avoid economic depression. by dederocs(op): 8:46am On Apr 25, 2020
Chukwurah003:
The safest way to reopen the economy is to continue the lockdown until the curve is flattened. If the economy is reopened and there is a second wave of infections, the economy will suffer even more. Why don’t you wait and see what happens to Ghana and other countries reopening before praising. Also read about the Spanish Flu of 1918 and how hurriedly lifted quarantines worsened the situation.
what about adopting safety measures and those that want to stay indoors stay...are you not concerned about other stuff i mentioned...remember Corona is not the only cause of death...the vaccine is available, so it will not be like the Spanish whatever...what am saying is, we might not recover from the economic blow in years if the lockdown is extended, or you think other nations calling it off are dumb...those that want to stay at home can stay.
Corona is overhyped, what you do not know is that, its not everyone that can be infected due to immune system differences, sunlight is also bad for it, and if we all adopt face masks, and sanitizers usage it wont spread
HealthRe: Why NCDC Doesn’t Want To Lift The Lockdown by dederocs(m): 8:36am On Apr 25, 2020
This is a rich man, the more the lockdown extends the more better for his ministry...why is noone talking of hunger killing people.
PoliticsNeed to assess the lockdown in Lagos, to avoid economic depression. by dederocs(op):
Let us readjust this lockdown in Lagos state, like Soludo rightfully said, we can not afford this lockdown, let us be creative and stop copying America that paid each citizen about 400k to stay inside, yet they are protesting there...let people move in private cars, bicycles and bikes...regulate markets, ensure people wear face masks and use sanitizers before entering markets, shops banks etc, ban danfo and molue, the state can use this to introduce a well regulated transport system, well run and maintained, that can be regulated to adhere to social distancing and wearing of masks by passengers...Germany, and some other rich nations are opening up gradually, let us not create a catastrophic problem because of Covid hysteria...People die everyday of different causes, lets be open minded about this...there are over 90million poor Nigerians, that number will rise if lockdown continues.
Social distancing, wearing face masks and use of sanitizers is key, while still banning crowd gathering, we will beat this, but not by lockdown, an extended lockdown will cause unforseen problems in a nation filled with poor people like Nigeria, even the government will go broke quickly, lots of companies will sack.workers because of lack or no revenue, lots of people will die off depression, anxiety and uncertainty...if people can not eat well, health complications arise, not to talk of rise in criminality, most youths might be enticed to go into stealing, robbery and joining bad gangs cos of hunger...lets think broadly and see the damage we will cause our society.

Only about 4% of infected people die, most recover...so the talk of bodies everywhere is a figment of imagination, and some immune systems resist it.

Those that want to stay home can stay, let those of us that wants to work and earn do, albeait safely...Ghana that ended their lockdown are not mad, if the economy collapse, it will be a disaster for us all, our government is already borrowing up and down, its a trap.

Note: am.emphasizing on Lagos, being the economic nerve of Nigeria, all other states can do as they like.

They did what they no best ignore and never come up with alternatives till tomorrow. Many thinking like you abounds in Africa from presidents to the last fool who wait for them to feed them as if government is your father. I think they all suffer from Trumpnosis, the propensity to be a nerd.

These are people Africans want to following instead of their well experienced and tested elder statements which has stood the test of time and still effective . An African will rather ignore his or her father's advice maybe because he's illiterate but will rather gobble up every wrong western teaching. They forget there is no better teacher than experience and this cuts across all spectrum of human endeavour.

So how do you explain the Spanish flu of 1918-19.. that was a corona virus too?

Don’t fool yourself, the reason why our numbers are not higher are down to 2 factors. 1. The lockdown. 2. We are not testing enough
i now see you are bent on spreading fear...medicine have improved since then, you can not compare medical research lab levels of then to now, that is why the world is quickly coming up with a vaccine and medicines to combat it... even though we have not tested everyone, the death rates will tell you.

The Spanish flu did not affect Nigeria as much your numbers are fictitious.
PoliticsRe: Coronavirus: Don’t Extend Lockdown, NLC Tells FG by dederocs(m):
isthatso:
Do you think the flu just happens in 2 months? The pandemic of 1918 lasted 2 years. We have just begun. If you had any brain you will look at the percentage of the number of people who have it that have died and you will see that 31 is actually 4% of the official figures of 800 confirmed cases so far. So also as the numbers start to increase so also will the deaths. We are now having cases in the 100s daily as opposed to single digits, so also will the deaths increase. Without lockdown, you will start to see 1000s daily
shut up,you are sounding foolish. read the article i posted, sunlight kills the virus, it won't even affect 0.5% of our population cos of sunlight and our immune system...our local foods and reduced preservatives helps us, as well as our herbs.

You are a prophet of doom, i counter you with facts, stop misleading people. The vaccine and medicine are ready.

If the spread will move fast in Nigeria like you claim, we would have known(based on death rates), it has past its incubation period, we will reach the curve soon, so your talk about 2years is not logical...social distancing, washing of hands, face masks etc are being observed, all these factors will slow down the spread to a halt.

Government of Lagos should please open up the economy, restive hungry youths are too much in this city...hunger breeds anger

I will ignore your insult for the sake of educating others and because I know you are a product of a failed education system and a population brainwashed by pastors.

The last time there was a flu pandemic was 1918, it was called the Spanish flu, the population of Nigeria was 8 million then, of that 200k died, translating to 2.5% Today our population is 200m so if we are not careful, up to 5 million people could die. Worldwide roughly 2-3% of those who get the virus die.
over 2months now, how many have died...31 people...do you know that millions die from flu yearly, do you know millions die of diabetes and obesity yearly, 31 in two months is not enough to warrant closing down a nation of 200million people. Sunlight inhibits the virus potency- https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/m-president-fake-news-donald-235959637.html
Our immune is strong and different from that of the white man, take natural herbs, boost your immune. By your assessment you are assuming all Nigerians will get infected, thats quite dumb, cos its not everyone that Corona can penetrate, its based on your immune system...don't sound myopic. Corona has too much media hype, its their businesses, they are cashing in, while you stay at home broke. wake up.

advancement of science and research in medicine now and at the time of the flu pandemic is not same, a test drug is being used in the UK now, vaccines too are being tested now...thank God the world is not filled with fear mongers like you, some people are about solutions. use your brain.

thank you for providing the right figure...yes i know, we all must continue to take precautions, face masks and sanitizers, when going out...we all are reasonable humans, NCDC should do its job, not spread bad news, it has a mandate to work, billions have been appropriated to it...closing down the economy for too long might bring out the animal in the citizenry, hunger breeds crime and restiveness, this too leads to people's demise.

Like 40 out of 200 people is what you call only??
4% of infected people, we have about a few thousand infected people, with time we will start using the vaccines and medicines, so everything will be back to normal. my point is NCDC should not put unneccesary fear in the minds of Nigerians, rather let them use the billions allocated for them to build isolation centres and also bring in equipments and materials needed to fight this virus, that is their job, not telling us this. The world will get the vaccine soon, its bad for us to close our economy for too long, even government is loosing revenues daily...all over the world economies are opening up. As adults lets try to comprehend properly before responding, spreading fear and closing down our economy and system for too long will cripple us. Humans have lived with viruses frok time immemorial, we will get past this, but let us not cripple our economy and system, it wiill lead to more severe impacts on us.

This is a very stupid thing to say. If your family member dies of this virus, you'd be speaking differently.

Lemme educate you.
1918, when the Spanish flu hit, there was an estimated world population of 1.8 billion people.
The number of deaths from the flu was at 50 million.
The number of infected was at 500 million.

Since you like percentages, let's do some.
The number of deaths in 1918 to the world's population was just 2.7%
2.7% is small until you remember that 2.7% is a whopping 50 million people.
The number of deaths from the confirmed cases of 500 million is small, just 10%, until you remember that just 10% is a whooping 50 million people.

Next time, think before you open your stupid mouth or type stupid things.
your father is mad, the solution is simple,.you and your family can stay indoors, lock yourselves in and wrap yourselves up...problem solved.
stupid sheep, hide inside and live forever, jobless fool.
Do you know the percentage of the world that dies from malaria, diabetes etc...
HealthRe: NCDC: We’re Running Against Time With Insufficient Laboratories, Ventilators by dederocs(m):
only about 4% of those infected meet their demise, the NCDC should do its job by liasing with various arms of government, the public need to see results from the commission, not press releases.

Bro, sacrificing the economy short term is our best chance of our recovery long term. The entire world is suffering, even Saudi Arabia whose economy is more dependent on oil is doing their best to flatten their curve. The impact of this pandemic will bite way harder than oil prices cos right now nobody is buying oil. Just a few days ago the US oil sold below 0$ the first time in history. Lockdown or not we will still sink into recession.

Oil prices are physical issues that can be remedied by production cuts (which OPEC already agreed to BTW) but you see this covid-19, it's an invisible enemy even your daddy GO cant fight.

Stay safe, stay home.
you can stay in your house, let those that want to go out go...
