Afonja doesn't understand how foreign reserves work. You don't understand how foreign reserve works. You can't just draw like that; very long process and fees. Why are they borrowing all these years and not drawing from foreign reserve?
If we can withdraw so easily from foreign reserves, why will government be begging china for loans, with hard requirements and conditions...nice post.

Lockdown only if both states and Fg will provide reasonable palliative items not all this audio one.

We need to contain the virus once and for all

But if no sustainable relief materias from government, then expect people to defy order.

HealthRe: Sanwo-Olu Says Lagos Mortuaries Are Full Due To Lockdown, Need Decongestion by dederocs(m): 11:01am On Apr 26, 2020
Vision2045:
I am tired of the lockdown as well but I don't think it's time for the lockdown to be called off...

To those saying the lockdown didn't work.....I hope you are right...but I am sure it worked as it showed us an indication of what is ahead....Those people tested so far are those with traveling history and those that came in contact with them...

Can we be rest assured that all those that came in contact has been fully located and tested (definitely No, My neighbor is one of the medical personnel at the isolation centre in onikan..she said Lagos is really under testing...and I ask why she said the test kit are so limited in supply and that ventilators are as well limited).

If the lockdown is called off or relaxed, we all Sabi as Lagos dey....our bus na hustle..bus stop na hustle...market na hustle..church na crowd..mosque crowd..felashrine crowd...qulox crowd....malls crowd....

If people still disobey the lockdown when it was so called in full flight...do u think when it's relaxed or totally called off people will not just go straight to normalcy.

Can any state in Nigeria handle a surge if things go south ( which I pray it doesn't)

Have u watched the channels TV interview with the deputy coordinator for the covid 19 in their state...he said a reported 640 death in one week..though natural death join but we all know something is wrong...that's because their governor is not proactive enough...

What do I suggest.

- This coming week government should make effort to create local response team in all local government and train personnel to Man those centres...every local government has office already ..that can be achieved in a week...they will deploy trained personnel from the isolation centres and general hospital with adequate PPEs

- Full sensitisation at local level...A team of people go into street with their mega phone...and share safety tips and proper explanation and maybe a small pamphlet with pictures.

- Those centres at local level will be there to test and absorb if any case arise and might be transferred to a mother centre (Onikan, IDH and any other created ) in case of severe issues.

- Government should as well invest in Test kit and ventilators atleast divert some more money to the health sector...

All this is attainable in two weeks....Then the government can relax the lockdown ...But forget it relaxing the lockdown is like suspending it...We all know our kind of mentality in Nigeria here...

My humble Opinion
Seems you can not comprehend this article, mortuaries are full cos of lockdown, people die of crime, hunger and other sicknesses daily, Corona has only killed 18 people in Lagos.

we are talking safety it should be a right for all
freedom is key, we all are reasonable humans, everyone should look out for themselves using safety measures when out, face masks, hand washing/sanitizers, social distancing...shutting down the economy for too long is myopic, we loose much more...if you do not feel its safe, stay home...we tend to play lip service in Nigeria like we care, but if you look around you, you will see its mostly hypocrisy, lots of people suffer and die each day in Nigeria, with or without this virus.

Total Lockdown will not solve this virus problem. If it could, USA and Britain wouldn't have had such massive increment in the rate of infections and deaths despite the facts that they started the lockdown before Nigeria and we're more discipline in keeping to it.
What Nigeria needs to do is to keep encouraging social distancing and banning large gatherings coupled with the use of personal protective equipment as initially announced by Lagos State government. The Federal Govt idea of total Lockdown is ill-thought, cynical and retrogressive and will only continue to lead to social and economic disaster for the people and nation.
Federal government was just using emergency powers then, states should be able to decide their fate, in a real federal democratic system, state should operate as they see fit, that is why we have state assembly and executive governor.

Lagos should be opened for business, closing the state will result in double loss, people will die from hunger virus and its multiplier effects, the state will go broke, economy will crash, unemployment will soar, and if the economy crashes the state will not be able to fund acquisition of vaccines and medicines, it is myopic and dumb to continue this total lockdown. Let us enforce safety measures...

This is why the Churches should be open...

There is Little or Nothing the Government can do now...

Nigeria has had Ebola, Cholera, Lassa fever, HIV aids, Tuberculosis, etc we didn't lock down...

No African Nation is supposed to be on Lock down.. Our Leaders just copied what the Americans and Europeans were doing..

Africa is different Continent ! We have always had a way of Sorting out these things..

The Church has been a Major Help in things like this in Nigeria..

Let's stop Decieving ourselves.... We are not Americans, Americans are not us..

Modified;
For My Brothers and Sisters who feel Otherwise and those who Insulted me, I Love you all and I Say GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

For those of us whose problem is tithe and offering. Tithe is paid when you make money ! So I don't understand how that connects to this.

Most Importantly, The Sacrifices of a Sinner is Abomination to GOD.. it has nothing to do with this. Any pastor or whoever that pressures you for tithes or offering as a tool for Prayer or Worship is a Scam.. Depart from such places..

We preach JESUS! Money is not our Motivation!

See Romans 1:21-22

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Once again GOD BLESS YOU ALL... I LOVE U ALL

Happy SUNDAY! I Am Off To CHURCH
Let the church feed the poor in the streets and their homes now.

So from all the comments I read , people want to be free to go about their businesses ,even if they happen in crowded places, but just don't open church. Two things: no single love for God and hatred for Gods anointed because of the blessings of God over there lives. You people are to small to rattle the church of God, this is not the first time the church has come under attack from people the bible calls simple men ,people I call logical men, we will always stand. Watch and see what happens after this lockdown. Repent,if these signs don't teach you anything I don't think you can be helped.
you can pray from your house, but running the economy is crucial...for now, no large gatherings, church or whatever...

Smart people, smart analysis, smart solutions...70% live from hand to mouth in Lagos, hunger virus might cause more than a 100 different sicknesses, couple with crime, anger,.domestic violence etc...we should not create a bigger problem while tackling a single virus. Open up the economy and state...am proud of Lagos.

No it will not , during lockdown it's going up too

Let's look at loss of lives , the coronavirus itself never killed up to 30,

Hunger and issues arriving from the lockdown has killed more

Government need to relax a bit , to save lives , businesses and health

They should give measures , Cross river is back in business , still no fresh cases

But if they think the lockdown is better , they should provide us with assistance , credit us .

The other day , an elderly man died at ijesha from injuries sustain during robbery by million boys , at idumota one woman observing the stay at home lost all in her lace shop to break and entry boys , a lot like that .

Make nose cover must , limit the numbers of people at a particular place at a time , run tests

Or since the number is still going up , should we continue to sit at home forever ?
correct talk, hunger crises will make people start behaving like animals, and crime will cause more deaths.
