We know you want people to stop asking you which particular area you're from, but only you can advertise where you are from to others.

All these is because Imo people feel their towns aren't popular and they need to be in a general well known town.
Same can't be said of Enugu where someone will tell you I'm from ụdị, Ngwo, Nsukka, Nkanu etc and not just owerri, orlu and okigwe whereas they're many towns in there.

Or Anambra which take pride in their town names, Nimo, Nibo, Nnobi, Enugwu Agidi, Awka Etiti, igbo ukwu, uli, Aguleri etc, towns here are even more popular than LGA

Or Ebonyi where someone will say I'm from Afikpo, ohaozara, Abakaliki, ohaukwu, ishielu etc

Or Abia where people are also proud of their towns like Abriba, ohafia, isuochi, Ngwá, umuahia, igbere, izu-Akoli etc

Imo people should take charge of their origin and stop simply hiding under owerri, okigwe and orlu zones

That's why I like North. North is much more diverse than any other region in Nigeria but hardly you here these unnecessary claims. The north eastern states have the largest languages diversity in the country, Borno, Taraba, Bauchi and Gombe states both having dozens of dialects. States or zones are not created based on tribe or religion but based on demarcation that defines the boundary of the states.

Northern region of Nigeria had story massive movement of people especially the Fulani and Hausa. It is not uncommon to see Fulani in Sokoto and Adamawa. However such is not the case in eastern region or even southern Nigeria. The Igbo people currently in Benue were not part of northern region of in 1967. They were caved out of Anambra State during 1976 boundary adjustment. The three or four LGAs native to Igbo in Benue State does not bar Ndigbo from being indigenous Igbo.

Oduduwa lo dara ju.Emi yoo nilo awọn eniyan wa lati wa ṣe atilẹyin orilẹ-ede wa lodi si awọn ọta wa.Maṣe jẹ ki wọn ṣe ikogun kikọ yii.
so without waisting our time here are some of the best cities in Yoruba land.

lagos city
Lagos (Nigerian English: /ˈleɪɡɒs/; Yoruba: Èkó) is the most populous city in Nigeria and the African continent. Lagos is a major financial centre for all of Africa and is the economic hub of Lagos State. The megacity has the fourth-highest GDP in Africa and houses one of the largest and busiest seaports on the continent. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.Lagos initially emerged as a home to the Awori subgroup of the Yoruba of West Africa and later emerged as a port city that originated on a collection of islands, which are contained in the present day Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Amuwo-Odofin and Apapa. The islands are separated by creeks, fringing the southwest mouth of Lagos Lagoon, while being protected from the Atlantic Ocean by barrier islands and long sand spits such as Bar Beach, which stretch up to 100 km (62 mi) east and west of the mouth. Due to rapid urbanization, the city expanded to the west of the lagoon to include areas in the present day Lagos Mainland, Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Surulere. This led to the classification of Lagos into two main areas: the Island, which was the initial city of Lagos, before it expanded into the area known as the Mainland. This city area was governed directly by the Federal Government through the Lagos City Council, until the creation of Lagos State in 1967, which led to the splitting of Lagos city into the present day seven Local Government Areas (LGAs), and an addition of other towns (which now make up 13 LGAs) from the then Western Region to form the state.[27]

ECONOMY
The city of Lagos is a major economic focal point in Nigeria, generating around 10% of the country's GDP. Most commercial and financial business is carried out in the central business district situated on the island. This is also where most of the country's commercial banks, financial institutions and major corporations are headquartered. Lagos is also the major Information Communications and Telecommunications (ICT) hub of West Africa and potentially, the biggest ICT market in the continent. Lagos is developing a 24-hour economy and has also been ranked as one of the most expensive cities in the world. In some parts of Lagos, residents have one of the highest standards of living in Nigeria and in Africa. At the same time, a sizable proportion of the residents live in slums without access to piped water and sanitation.

The Port of Lagos is Nigeria's leading port and one of the largest and busiest in Africa. It is administered by the Nigerian Ports Authority and it is split into three main sections: Lagos port, in the main channel next to Lagos Island, Apapa Port (site of the container terminal) and Tin Can Port, both located in Badagry Creek, which flows into Lagos Harbour from the west. The port features a railhead. The port has seen growing amounts of crude oil exported, with export figures rising between 1997 and 2000.Oil and petroleum products provide 14% of GDP and 90% of foreign exchange earnings in Nigeria as a whole.

Lagos city or Lagos State does not belong to Oduduwa. OP, please do not commit this blunder in future because Lagos is a commonwealth territory. Arrewa was smart enough to avoid listing Abuja in his\her funny post too.

Colorado congressman Jason Crow, a former US envoy to Afghanistan, was caught up in the violent and deadly pro-Trump mob riot that broke into the US National Assembly Capitol building in Washington DC, with the mob armed with guns and dangerous weapons.

The congressman was forced to hide under the chamber seats and tables as the angry mob rampaged through the National Assembly building, smashing windows, guns blazing, and charging at policemen, many of whom were seen fleeing from the mob.

''I felt exactly the way I felt when I was in Afghanistan. No difference at all'', said the shaken congressman.

When people such as you allowed what happened in Afghanistan to happen in US, you sure will get the same result.

Why must certain goons always call on government to fix ordinary fire station which one rich son from Orlu could arrange without sweat.

Orlu is the name taken by people from nearly all the 12 LGAs in Orlu senatorial district because before local government areas were created, people from the local government areas of Orlu zone regarded themselves as Orlu people; they do same till today despite the differences in the local government names. Similar culture, same dialect referred to as dialect of “ndi uzo Uzo.”
These local government areas in Orlu zone would have all fused to one big modern city if not for the inadequacies of governors of Imo state from Orlu senatorial zone who paid scanty attention to modern development in their zone.

So poster did not deviate much in some of his assertions.

Sometimes, you appear very funny. How would Ohaji or Egbema or Oguta fuse with Orlu as one big modern city? Some part of Ohaji will soon become Owerri metropolis since 20km radius is about to be lapsed. It is out of logical sense to have Ohaji\Egbema and Oguta LGAs under Imo west senatorial zone.

D2 my brother i hear you. But Orlu Zone is a bit unique. Even though we have the majority 12 LGAs and population spread in Imo state, We are mostly of ISU and ORU origin unlike other zones and till Jesus comes we recognize that fact and hardly bask in unnecessary divisions. Isu people are also present in Owerri zone in parts of Orodo, Ofekata etc and Okigwe zone in Abajah, Anara, etc. We still recognize them as Isu kiths even though they are delineated into other senatorial zones.

Also included in Isuama are Nkwerre, Isu, Nwangele and Onuimo.

You are still misinformed. Read to understand. These various communities in Orlu zone fully pride themselves in their various communities names also . I am from Amaike and if you ask me where I am from, I will tell you I am from Amaike Orlu. Same with someone from Okporo, Amaifeke, Ihioma or the little known Orlu-gedegwum. In the past we where all under one administrative division called ORLU and we all still associate with that general tag side by side our community name. Another unifying factor is our common ISU and ORU origins which we still recognize even when delineated into various local governments.
In Owerri zone , an Mbaise man can never tell you he is an Owerri man neither will an Mbaino man tell you he is an Okigwe man even though their respective senatorial zones are Owerri and Okigwe. I can feel the bias in your comments against Imolites but please don't miseducate and influence others with them.

You are the one commiting the blunder of not reading to understand. What i wrote about here is about the Origin of the name Orlu and how Orlu LGA came to be named ORLU even when other names could have sufficed. Same with the Senatorial zone. Never did i say that Orlu city (which happens to be located in Orlu LGA and maybe parts of Orsu bordering Orlu LGA) has 12 LGAs.

Orlu , Owerri and Okigwe senatorial zones are the popular political delineation descriptions known to all sons and daughters of Imo state, both erudite and illiterate and even if the constitution replaces Orlu zone with Imo west, it changes nothing. We know those who make up Orlu Zone and thei respective historys and apart from Ohaji Egbema who are clamouring to opt out, others proudly bear, associate with and support the "ORLU" tag.

My sister Juice, the adjectival word in the bolded settled the issue. It was an attempt to localize politics hence Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe zones were birthed. As for origin of "Orlu", I suggest you think of Oru. The Orlu is an Anglicized Oru as British spelt it.

Very wrong on the bolded. Above the street level, it is known constitutionally as Imo north, east and west. The nomenclatural thing pertaining to Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe was a localized political drama in order to drive politics to the local masses. Even some folks who have seen the four walls of the university may have problem relating to the senatorial zones through Imo north, west and east. I guess statutorily, the senatorial districts in Imo State are known as Imo north, west and east.

Due to the slight misinformation and comments on these thread,
https://www.nairaland.com/6351107/only-city-11-l.g.a-area, I would like to make some corrections and throw better historical perspectives on the origin of the name Orlu and why a host of communities in the present day Orlu senatorial zone identify themselves to be from Orlu.

History of the name Orlu.

When the British first arrived the area, they met a host of communities and in the quest for easy administration, they sought for an educated chief or head who could serve as link of communication between them and the locals. This was the era of warrant chiefs. They met one Acholonu from Eluama village in ORLU GEDEGWUM community who met this criteria and thus elevated him to the head of the area with so much powers. Popularly known as Igwe of Orlu( even though his domain covered only Orlu Gedegwum) till his death and father to the late supreme court justice, Pat Acholonu and former deputy governor of Imo state , Douglas Acholonu( husband to Catherine Acholonu,; Obasanjo former special adviser on arts and culture).

The British colonial masters also went ahead to name all the communities around Orlu- Gedegwum covering all communities as far as and in the present day 12 local government areas of Orlu senatorial zone as one ORLU. Thus the name Orlu was borrowed from the Orlu gedegwum community where Acholonu hailed from. That is why people from these areas and 12 local governments identify first as Orlu before their respective community names due to the fact that in the no distant past, all where under one administrative region called Orlu before the creation of local government areas and senatorial zones. So don’t be surprised to hear someone from, Njaba , Isu, Orsu, Nkwere etc tell you he is from Orlu first before telling you his actual community name.

As already stated above, same name was used in birthing the present day Orlu LGA which covers communities like Amaike, Eziachi,Orlu-Gedegwum, Umunna, Amaifeke, Okporo,Umutanze, Ihioma, Umuezike, Obor, Ihitte Owerri Owerriebirri, Umudioka, Umuowa, Mgbee, Ogberuru, Obinugwu, etc . The city parts of Orlu we all know is mostly found in some of these communities in Orlu LGA.

Also in the delineation of senatorial zones, the name Orlu was again used to cover all the communities and local government in consistence with the old British colonial definition of the area . The local governments in Orlu senatorial zone are:
Orlu
Orsu
Oru West
Oru East
Ideato North
Ideato South
Njaba
Nkwerre
Nwangele
Isu
Oguta
Ohaji Egbema.

In Orlu senatorial zone, there are two major dialects or people, the Isu speaking dialects and sub-dialects who can be found in Ideato, Orlu, Njaba, Nkwere, Isu, Nwangele and some parts of Oru East LGAs, and the Oru speaking communities found in Orlu, Orsu, Oru East/West and Oguta LGAs with some found in Ihiala LGA of Anambra state and some in Delta state.
Present also are minority dialects like the Anioma – Ukwani dialect in Oguta, the Aro in Ideato, the Egbema dialects in Ohaji Egbema local government who are also found in Rivers state

Orlu is one , Orlu gbu Eze…

It is a shame that Igbo son or daughter can commit such intellectual blunder in the public. A thing left for people with initial stage of free education. I repeat Orlu town or city does not have 12 or 11 LGAs as some goofy posters have maintained. When senatorial zone in Imo State was considered, it was based on Imo west, north and east. For Imo west, Nkwerre made a strong case to be selected as name representation of the zone instead of Orlu. However the deciding powers went for Orlu on various reasons. I learnt certain heads in Ohaji\Egbema LGAs have set off motion to disassociate from Orlu senatorial camp.

Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, Trump does not need to accept Joe Biden as president of US. Donald Trump has never been accepted as the president of US by the democrats. It is very remarkable the destruction in certain parts of US orchestrated by democrats, ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter suddenly stopped since presidential election ended. Donald Trump had been met with riots and silly demonstrations since he was sworn in as president of US. Democrats impeached and attempted to remove him from of office. I am disgusted when certain people assume democracy can only be achieved when they win election.

Southeast states to begin joint security patrol

Southeast states will begin a joint security patrol to check rising insecurity, the governors said on Tuesday.

They deplored rising cases of kidnapping and attacks on security agents in the region.

Southeast Governors Forum chairman and Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi said the forum would do everything to secure the region.

He spoke with reporters after a virtual meeting of the governors.

The governor assured everybody residing in Igboland of their safety irrespective of ethnic affiliation.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that all our people are protected; the security agent and all the people from other regions living with us.

“We have agreed that the Southeast security committee will be expanded, that this year we are going to have a common patrol.

“Our vehicles are going to be the same, the uniform will be the same and we will do this for our vigilante.

“We will continue to work with the people of Southeast to give them greater protection,” he said.

The governors regretted that two days ago, two policemen were allegedly killed in Imo State, with their riffles taken away.

He said there was a kidnap case along Enugu and Ebonyi border recently.

Umahi believes the criminal acts were perpetrated by people of the region.

“We want the leaders of Southeast to rise above political sentiments to speak out and to condemn this act because should the security people react, the cry will go everywhere,” he said.

The governors condemned a misleading viral video in a narrator claimed herdsmen residing in Ebonyi State were being chased away by their host communities.

The governors described the video as an attempt to cause panic and disunity in the country.

Umahi said: “We are so much worried about the killings and kidnappings that are going on in the Southeast – killing our people and security agents. The situation is being heightened by the activities of very desperate politicians.

“There are so many politicians in all the political parties who are so desperate for power and they have aligned with some bandits to destabilise the nation.

“For instance, two days ago in Ebonyi State, a Fulani settlement decided to move Taraba State and retain some of their family members in Ebonyi. The man is still here.

“A politician went to put a voice and said that Igbo are chasing away the herdsmen from Ebonyi state.

“Such a video went very wide and was causing panic in other parts of the country. That is very much uncalled for.

“The Governors’ Forum condemns this and we will want the leaders of Southeast to rise to speak against this kind of attitude and against messages that tend to divide us and put our people in danger outside Southeast.”

Umahi is dumbass basement fool. How did Ebonyi people elect such an embarrassment as the governor of the state? Umahi and his stooges did not even care about indigenes of the states in the region but security agents in the region and other ethnic groups.
