Politics / Re: 2023: Orji Kalu Tops Chart As Favourite Igbo To Take Buhari's Seat by Dedetwo(m): 11:33pm On Jan 01, 2021
jjmekwa:
The race for the 2023 presidency has been gaining prominence in recent political discussions, though many analysts and political experts have argued that it is too early to draw attention to where the next president will come from.

The ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is likely to zone his presidential ticket to the southern region after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
This has apparently sparked off interest from the southwest and southeast, with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a socio-political group, leading the front in the demand for an Igbo man to take over the helms of affairs when Buhari leaves.

Although prominent individuals including APC national leader Bola Tinubu and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state have been rumoured to be eyeing the top seat, there has been a profound argument that since Yoruba has produced a Nigerian president, Igbo should take over for the sake of justice and fairness.

As permutations continue to prelude the 2023 race, Zamfara Reporters highlights 5 people likely to succeed President Buhari should APC or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decide to zone its ticket to the southeast.

1. Orji Uzor Kalu

A former governor of Abia state and currently the Senate chief whip, Senator Kalu is one of the leading candidates from the southeast considered to be fit for the biggest office in the country.
In fact, youths from the southeast and other parts of the country have been drumming support for the APC chieftain who is also one of the leaders of the Igbo race.

2. Chris Ngige

A two-term current minister of Works and Employment, Ngige is one of the southeast leaders in the ruling party.
He has served as a former governor Anambra and was elected senator for Anambra Central constituency in 2011.
A senior cabinet member and ally of the president, Ngige may be tipped to take a shot at the respected seat in the country drawing from his vast experience

3. Governor Dave Umahi

The current governor of Ebonyi state just defected to the ruling party in what many people including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state have attributed to the 2023 plan.
A chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum (SGF), Umahi has always been recognised as one of the people capable of succeeding President Buhari in 2023.

4. Rochas Okorocha

Former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, is one of those set to benefit should the southeast region of the country be eventually considered to take a shot at the presidency in 2023.
The former governor was on Monday, November 16, urged to vie for the 2023 presidential ticket by a group, Igbos for Rochas Movement 2023 Presidency (IRM).
During a visit to his home, IRM national coordinator Jeff Nwoha stated that the former governor’s resume, after careful deliberations with other leaders, fits the presidency.
The former governor is an ally of the president and he is considered to be in the race.

5. Peter Obi

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, is one of the top candidates considered for the presidency from the southeast.
An experienced businessman and economist, Obi is the PDP vice-presidential candidate during the last general election, running with former VP Atiku Abubakar.

Meanwhile, as the conversation on the 2023 presidency continues to gain prominence amid sundry calls for the next president to be of Igbo extraction, two Anglican and Catholic bishops have pitched their tents with Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
This is as Anglican Archbishop on the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rev Alexander Ibezim and Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Paulinus Ezeokafor declared that an Igbo man should be allowed to rule the country.

They can move quickly to arrest ESN in southern bushes but when it's time to fish out Herdsmen in d same bushes, the herdsmen will suddenly become invisible.

They have time to send gun trucks and helicopters to a peaceful area but when it's time to fight bokoharam, automatically, they will start lacking weapons nd blaming other countries for refusing to sell weapons to them.

They must really think we are all fools.

The same herdsmen who remained invisible to the idiotic Nigeria army were vacated by the ESN with ease. If I have well trained and motorized divisions, this incompetent Nigerian army will be sacked in a hurry.

The former Abia state People Democratic party (PDP) Chairman , Sen Emma Nwaka has joined his voice with other political bigwigs of south East extraction to condemn the proposed military attack on newly formed Eastern Security Network by Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) leader , Mazi kanu.

Read what the former Abia state PDP Chairman , Sen Emma Nwaka state clearly in a brief chat with our correspondent here :

" I must state that I am not the fan of Nnamdi kanu's tactics, all thesame I am always bewildered by the ferocity with which our security Agencies attack his every move ,most time youths of Igbo origine who are suspected to be loyal to him are either maimed or even killed in the process without condemnation from the rest of our society.

What is trending now is that the military has deployed gun trucks and aircraft to ferret out the bases of his newly formed Eastern Nigeria security outfits .

So far, I am not aware that it has been prove that Nnamdi kanu is leading an armed group.
Meanwhile miyitti Allah , a supposedly cultural group, that threaten mayhem and claims responsible for some killings across Nigeria is not similarly treated.

" The same goes for other non-state security outfits, I must say that it's the unequal treatment that feed the conspiracy theory that Igbo nation is marked for extermination.

I urge the government of the day to rethink this obvious case of discrimination .

To treat equals unequally is recipe for instability and lawlessness with dire consequence for peace and unity.

I will plead with the military , now that they're at it, to used the forces they have deploy in Igboland to discover the forest bases of the herdsmen who camp in our surrounding bushes only to emerge at will to kidnap, kill and rob our people.

South-east is the perceived stumbling block to northern and southwestern political elite's free access to the crude oil in southern Nigeria. Just mention disintegration of the shithole called Nigeria, the jackasses will develop sudden convulsion. Any military attack on ESN is an open invitation to war.

Politics / Re: 2023: The Marginalization by Dedetwo(m): 12:01pm On Jan 01, 2021
StCapital:
2023:The Marginalization of the South East By Anambra State.

The South-Eastern part of Nigeria is one of the geo-political zones that have contributed quality human resources to the Nigerian political space. The region is known for both economic and political influence to the larger Nigerian State. Despite having only five states as against the six and seven states of other zones, the South East has continued to maintain its relevance and collaboration with other regions, especially the South-South in asserting her influence in Nigerian politics.

However, this region has suffered series of marginalization both in the larger Nigerian political space and within the region itself. The region has been short-changed with only five States. The implication of this can be seen in fewer federal legislators from the region and more from regions with six and seven states. The one-state deficit in the South East also means fewer political opportunities for the people of the region and development. However, the main thrust of this paper is not the marginalization emanating from the Nigerian federation via the 1999 Constitution but the internal marginalization that exist within the states in the region. Put differently, this paper is an attempt to shed light on the opportunities enjoyed by some states in the South East (especially Anambra State) much to the disadvantage of other states in the region. These opportunities come in the form of political offices.

In the Southern Eastern region, political opportunities have tilted towards some states. A statistical analysis of political offices available to the South East reveals that some states have produced or almost produced all federal political office available.

For the sake of emphasis, while the marginalization meted out to the South East by the Nigerian state is obvious and well known by Nigerians and especially Ndi-Igbo at home and in Diaspora, there exist a systematic marginalization within the region manifesting in the form of Anambra and Abia wielding their economic/wealth advantage to grab more Federal position much to the chagrin of the other three states. The worst hit by this comparative disadvantage is Imo State: The Eastern Heartland.

To buttress the above assertion, a statical trip was undertaken to establish the veracity of the claim that indeed other South Eastern States are being marginalized by Anambra State and to appreciable extent, Abia State.

Anambra: Created in the year 1976 and unofficially known as the economic power house of the East, Anambra State is not just the home to the reknown Onitsha and Nnewi Markets. It is also not just the house of globally acclaimed industrialist and captains of industry; it is a haven of reknown political and diplomatic statesmen who have earned their place in the annals of Nigeria politics. The State boast of having produced the first and only indigenous Governor General of Nigeria the Late Owelle of Onitsha, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Anambra has also produced Nigerian President (1963 – 1966) in same Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Further, the state has also produced the First Nigerian elected Vice President (1979 – 1983) in the person of the late renowned Architect, Chief Alex Ekwueme. Two President of the Nigerian Senate have also emerged from Anambra State: Chief Nwafor Orizu and Dr. Chuba Okadigbo. Also, a Speaker of the Federal House of Representative hailed from Anambra State, Chief Edwin Umezuoke. Apart from producing politicians who are first to occupy such offices, Anambra is also home to some of the finest and refined Economists, politicians and diplomats. Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a globally recognized son of Anambra State who has made his mark in the common wealth of Nation is an Example. Also Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo sat the helms of the affairs of Central Bank of Nigeria from 2004 – 2009, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu occupied the Deputy Governorship position in the Central Bank of Nigeria between 2009 – 2014. Mention must also be made of Dr. Oby Ezekwesili who has also made her mark at the World Bank as Vice President Incharge of Africa.

Abia State: Created in 1991 and known as the God’s Own State, Abia State ranks second in the South East for having produced leaders at the National stage. The late accomplished officer of the Nigerian army who went ahead to become the first military Head of State of Nigeria, Gen. Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi Ironsi was a son of Abia State. He became Head of State after January 15th 1966 Military Coup, He ruled till July 31st 1966. The state has also produced the equivalent of a Vice President Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe: Senate President Adolphus Nwagbara and Speaker of the Federal House, Jaja Nwachukwu of Abia origin also.

A notable politician/consultant economist who was a super minister between 2011 and 2015, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala also hails from Abia State via marriage and has since been holding offices through Abia State slot. She is at the verge of leading the World Trade Organization (WTO) and taking Nigeria and Abia State further to the world.

Enugu: Popularly known as the Coal City, Enugu became a State in 1991 and was once the capital city of Eastern Nigeria. The State is known for having produced a Senate President in Chief Ken Nnamani and also a Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu (2007 – 2019). Ekweremmadu was especially influential in the Nigerian Legislative space for those 12 years as DSP and for the same period chaired the very important senate committee on the Amendment of the 1999 Constitution.

Ebonyi State: Created in 1996 by the Abacha Administration in an attempt to address the problem of marginalization of the South East, Ebonyi State has had a single individual dominate her politics at the national level from 1999 to 2015. The State can boast of having produced a Senate President and also Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Both positions were occupied by the same individual, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, who is seen in Ebonyi and the founder and father of the state as well as the architect of modern Ebonyi.

Imo State: Created in 1976 and regarded as the Eastern Heartland, Imo State has managed to produce Chief Evan Enwerem who had a brief stinct as Senate President before he was removed. Imo State also boasts of having produced a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

From the figures above, it is clear that Anambra holds the lead. This could owe much to the economic clout they possess. Comfortably, Anambra State leads the South East in the order of having benefitted most from Federal positions.

Abia State has also proven itself as worthy for having produced distinguished personalities for federal offices.

It is my submission therefore that should the 2023 presidency be zoned to the South East by any of the Major Political Parties or both, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu States, should be considered as Anambra and Abia have had their fair share, notable people that are eminently qualified includes Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, Sen. Rochas Okorocha, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, Sen. Ken Nnamani, Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu, Engr. David Umahi etc.

This is the meaning of equity and the concept of equitable distribution of opportunities. Considerations and priorities should be given to the three states stated above in order to allay the fear of systematic marginalization and calculated subjugation of the other states by Anambra and Abia States. A close feel of the pulse of Ndi-Igbo reveals this fear and feeling of entranched domination of the region by Anambra. The enormous wealth of their business class and the shrewdness of their politicians has been partly adduced to be the reason for such.

However, there is an urgent need for the regions to look inward and begin to address the problem of marginalization from within before we can effectively tackle the problem of the marginalization of the entire South East by the rest of the Federation.

From: A Political Observer, Asaba.

You are a paid hack writer. Imo State does see itself as anything other than Igbo land. Anambra State does not marginalize anybody in Igbo land. If Abia, Anambra, Imo, Eboney and Enugu State son\daughter, including Igbo communities outside the states in southeast zone, becomes a representative of anything under the sun, he\she represents Igbo land and all Igbo people shall be happy thereafter. It is unfortunate that goons who hunger for silly presidency of the shithole called Nigeria paid you to concoct the above crap.

Apt in bolded.

Population of Owerri tripping in the last 5 years was architected by Rochas Okorocha’s inept government policy of concentration of government development landmarks in Owerri in 8 years. He boasted openly about his investing 65% of capital development budgeted funds of IMSG on Owerri in Owerri where he now lives.

Okorocha has an imaginary enemy in Orlu Municipal LGA, even before he became governor; therefore, as governor, he reduced Orlu urban LGA to rural area, except expansion of 4 streets in Orlu leading to the major road to his hometown in Ogboko, in Ideato South LGA, the four streets some one has shown here during the past 8 years as Okorocha’s development in Orlu urban LGA.

Of course, Okorocha’s refusal to place commensurate development infrastructures in Orlu to hold population in Orlu, resulted as well, to his refusal of same commensurate government infrastructures to other urban centers in Imo state, as he told all : “I am building our dear state capital city to international standard.”

Result: population influx from Orlu and Okigwe zones to Owerri.

Please stop this your silly madness. You do not have rights to create municipalities in Imo State. Orlu is not yet a municipality. All these childish behaviors you have demonstrated on this thread make you look silly. It is Orlu LGA not Orlu Municipal LGA.

On the bolded, Zik never even dreamt of becoming the premier of western region of Nigeria. Azikiwe contested election into regional house of assembly from Lagos. Politics / Re: Why North Rejected Enahoro’s 1956 Independence Motion – Yakassai by Dedetwo(m): 5:08am On Dec 31, 2020
adenigga:
Elder Statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has said the north rejected the motion for Nigeria’s independence by 1956, because it lacked the requisite human capital to face the challenges of self-governance.

Yakasai who served as Presidential Liaison Officer during the Second Republic, said this in an essay titled, “Leadership Question and the Issue of Nigeria’s National Unity, which he wrote to celebrate his 94th birthday, on December 31st.

One of Nigeria’s foremost Pro-independence activists, Chief Anthony Enahoro, who was then a member of the now defunct Action Group, moved the motion for Nigerian’s independence from British rule in 1953.

Yakasai, recalled that as at 1953, the entire northern region had only one University graduate, the late Dr R. A. B. Dikko, compared to the thousands in the Western and Eastern regions.

He also faulted critics of Nigeria’s current local government structure wherein Kano has 44 while Lagos with an equally large population has far less.

Yakasai said, “What I found very disturbing is that such utterances are directed against the unity of our country. Such narratives resembled that of some political leaders’ way back in 1953; when a member of the defunct Action Group Party, introduced a motion in the House of Representatives, asking Britain to grant independence to Nigeria by 1956. Another Northern member of the House proposed an amendment to the motion by changing 1956 to as soon as practicable.

“This was because as at 1953, the entire Northern Region, which had 75 per cent of Nigeria’s landmass and about 55 per cent of the country’s population, had only one graduate, Dr. R.A.B Dikko.

“At the same time, the South had thousands of graduates from different fields of expertise including law, engineering, medicine, administration, social sciences, etc. with about 90 per cent of the public services manpower in the North were made up of expatriates or Nigerians from the southern part of the country.

“Action Group leaders rejected the compromise proposed by the northern legislator in order to enable the north prepare itself for independence.

“This is because if Nigeria was granted independence by 1956, the North would be under the control of the civil servants from the South, a situation that will put the North under perpetual domination of the South, particularly people from the Western Region, which had the preponderance of the public servants at the time.”

We were practising parliamentary system based on regional government that is each region has it own constitution, I can post the Westerner Nigeria constitution for you to see if you doubt it. Awolowo was a Nationalist, Ahmadu bello was a Nationalist it was only Azikwe who was more of a Unionist. Nigeria is not a Nation but a country, Yoruba is a Nation, Edo is a Nation, Igbo is a Nation etc. So as at then, what Ahmadu bello said is not bad as is first primary assignment os his people first. I just saw a video online where SNP in Scotland and the First Minister of Scotland Nicola sturgeon is firmly talking about her people first in the UK, and she is threatening Westminster Boris and his Toris party of Scotland independence because of bad Brexit deal for them. But you Africa are hypocrites and full of evil, what is bad if someone wants the interest of his or her own people first? In his full interview, he said his people should get the jobs first, if not they will prefer expatriates and not Igbos who they have studied and see they love to dominate their host.
And by the way, who told you the Fulanis was initially comfortable being part of Nigeria? It was immediately they took control after the counter coup and they saw the system the greedines of the Igbos has introduced by destroying Regional government and gave more power to the Federal government to control almost everything, that is exactly what the Fulanis are holding onto.

You must be a ninny for spewing the bolded crap. I have wasted my time crossing words with a dumbass dingbat. Only fool would insinuate that people who wore tribal sectionalism were nationalists. Do you even know the connotation of Unionist? If you are not a dunce of considerable magnitude, you would have realized Fulani should not have joined the war to keep the union called Nigeria. Any jackass who fought the war against Ndigbo and Biafrans wanted the shithole called One-Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Corruption Has Gone Progressively Worse In Nigeria – Professor Sagay by Dedetwo(m): 2:52am On Dec 31, 2020
Racoon:
Sagay fully knows the truth back then but the desire to chop made him sacrificed his reputation for political crumbs. He must be regretting his actions hence the unnecessary exposures as if he was injected "truth serum."

He is still in denial. The presidency and government are to be blamed for the decadence in Nigerian society. The presidency would have pushed for citizens of Nigeria to wear arms. The presidency should order the checkpoints mounted by the elements of armed forces, custom services and police to disappear from our roads. When Sagay allegedly traveled from Jos to Ile -Ife, how many checkpoints did he encounter?
