arcnomec:You are contradicting yourself bro. 250-300 USD is approx 90k-108k in naira and this is just for a median household abroad. Now tell me how many of Y'all pay within this range per month in Nigeria?. You want 24 hours light yet you don't want to pay. You think the people that have invested in the Discos are charity organizations? Please y'all go and do your homework very well. We have the lowest tarrifs and even with that people don't pay their bills so please explain to me how you want the discos to be able to provide y'all with 24 hours light, be a going concern and expand business? On one end NBET and TCN cant keep to their terms of engagement re transmission and pricing of gas from the gencos and yet they are charged even if the gas supplied gets to the discos or not. The same discos have written several proposals to the FGN for them to source for electricity off grid from alternative sources like solar wind etc which will be more sustainable and cheaper in the long run, the FGN refused. The agreement when GEJ wanted to privatise was for tariffs to be increased so the business case makes sense to any investor but he spoke about it and nothing happened because of his political ambition Subsequently, the serious investors withdrew their offers leaving the whole exercise at the whims and caprices of his cronies whom used the acquisition as an avenue to launder illicit funds. Again the government of the day is trying to correct these ills and we are crying foul . Light generation, transmission and distribution is not rocket science....sending an unmanned space craft into space or inventing a driveless car or flying space suit is However no serious investor with expertise in this sector will put money down if the business case is not right. Germany and a handful of the Scandinavian countries now depend totally on alternative sources of energy aka solar wind and human waste. Small companies are even encouraged to generate and monetise with the govt having firm regulatory oversight. Kenya now generates power from windmill yet leaving us behind. Maybe it's when we become like Venezuela that y'all will wake up. And for those that claim I don't pay my light bills on my own. Please know that i do oh infact across two jurisdictions in residential and business capacity and i also know how much I spend buying diesel in both capacities in Nigeria. Last note the internet is a very funny place where peoole just do desk top analysis and automtically feel that they gave become subject matter 3experts. |
Oksman:Work with Google. GEJ tried it but was met with stuff resistance and he chicken out just before selling the discos . It was also attempted in 2016 and fashola resisted it. Check the internet |
FarahAideed:Y'all want constant electricity but don't want to pay for it. Very funny Just like fuel our electricity tarrifs are the lowest in the world. The way we think baffles me. It is from the tariffs that cash flow for process improvements and business expansion is generated. Otherwise nothing will improve. Mind you one of the conditions that Siemens gave the govt as part of the agreement they just signed is the tarrif increase. Tarrifs have to be competitive so the business case makes sense and companies looking to invest in the sector can break even. Some low-mid income houses in USA pay as much as 250-300 dollars pay month for gas and electric and yet we are wetting our pants for a 10k a month bill in an industry where rate of collections and payments is below 45%. There is no how quality of service will improve with such dismal tarrifs and collection rates. More so nigerians are wasteful. I have seen people live their security lights on 24-7. Some will even go to work with their aircons on etc. Try that in a sane society and see how much you will be billed at the end of the month. This is like expecting to fly first class but expecting to pay the price of economy. |
FarahAideed:Point of correction the increases were reversed. |
CapitanS:He is already broke. |
With his knock off patek |
Meanwhile nigerians are running to libya, yemen and other less economically viable locations. And on the flip side these guys are buying scrap and making millions from it In translation the green is not always green on the other side it is green where you water it. |
This is a good initiative. The vendor has a mechanic village in the state where local artisans are trained and employed. For the people saying 2m per car is steep pls know that these gov officials don't buy tokunboh cars. They go for new ones and the prices are over invoiced. Secondly this will also put a stop to this mentality of people taking government property away when they leave office Finally and looking at this from an analysis point of view..2m average...not all the cars are 15 years old there are some that are 4-5 years old and i can even see some new version toyota and pick up trucks there meaning that price per repair would vary. Overall a good initiative. God bless Nigeria |

This dude launders money for politician in abuja using the perfume business as a front. Buying scents and oil from Dubai to mix in Nigeria to create perfumes my foot. He better withdraw back into his cave and face his "perfume business" Maybe he has gotten a call from his "sponsors" to pipe low hence the apology. If you do the crime you must the ready to do the time.....anointed MOG or not. |
Lovely place but no development. In saner climes snake island and all its other adjoining islands would be a high end luxury vacation spot with prime real estate. God has really blessed us but everything us just upside down. |

We also don't want you to join nollywood. We are with your family on this |
The man moves around with everything...even his own water and food |
Nice but all these people brandishing sustainability up and down in Nigeria are scammers |
Marriage just like food and sex is overrated |
GavelSlam:Bro i don't need to join issues with you and i regret even responding to you post. You started out by saying petrloex is building a refinery and I tried to correct the wrong news now you have turned the table. Having a license to build and building are two different things and to tell you for free the ministry of petroleum resources issue out refinery licenses daily. And I choose to align with the person that is building because at least he is making an effort. Finally, I have gone through your posts on nairaland and see that you are the pervasive and dodgy type that will nevet admit that they are wrong so this will be my last post to you on this. |

GavelSlam:Bro stop making a fool of yourself. You go and pull a bloomberg report from Dec 2017 just to make a bigger mockery of your self. Petrolex has plans in the pipeline...which I mentioned in my post and even that is still on the drawing table because approvals to expand the tank farm which is not yet fully operational to include a refinery was stalled by the state government and will most likely be stalled as dapo abiodun a rival in the energy sector with same plans is now the state gov elect. Dangote's refinery is almost near completion, the fertiliser and gas pipeline are complete and all things been equal will become operational by FY 2019. Also Dangote has location advantage as he has sited his refinery by the sea coast hence making dispatch and discharge of products easy. He has also built his own private port hence cutting of the bureaucracies of apapa port and the likes Petroloex is planning to build along the inland waterways of ogun state so for him to even dispatch or discharge he will need to build pipelines which will make his business operations open to pipeline vandals or other wise he will move products in barges which will double his production cost thereby making him uncompetitive. You people just sit down and type rubbish mis informing people. |
GavelSlam:Petrolex is a tank farm oga. No refinery is been built there at the moment even though there are discussions for such in the pipeline. You too stop spreading fake news |
Impressive resume but he is representing the interest of the new set of investors that have invested in USD group. Just so you guys kniw before you start jumping up and down. |

maidstone:He won't afterall state funds were used for his campaign and he is sure to get ministerial appointment. If na you will you be perturbed? |
salford:Bro salary and other remuneration alone per quarter is like 150-200m that's like 800m every year. We never add all the other gbemu that they get. In all this guy can make 1.5-2b naira per year doing nothing as in absolutely nothing Can he make that amount as a doctor even in the U S of A? |
Gerrard59:Bro udom is getting five times what the trio of Akpabio, umana and Ekere got in their time so my question is if he is not corrupt what has he done with the over 1 trillion in federal allocation paid to the state Bearing in mind that the state has the least population both in the civil service and the entire state. |
illrhymes:God bless you. Leave theae people no wonder there is so much backwardness in this country. Governor spent billions building a toothpick factory and is planning to import bamboo all the way from China that will be used to produce toothpicks in the factory. Talk about stupidity of the highest order |
TonyeBarcanista:By the time he is done with the state in another 4 years dude will be richer than his former boss at zenith and this estranged godfather. Akwa Ibom in the last four years has received about 1.2 trillion in federal allocation from the FGN yet there is nothing to show where these funds have been utilised. |
How many times is he going to commission this factory? |
Bizibi:We are the country...When we prosper as individuals our nation will prosper its called trickle down effect. It's not rocket science. A piece of advice for you stay away from all those fake oil block deals. Besides most of the people that got oil block concessions will have to renew them in 2020 and this present govt is waiting for them. |
mekaboy:Even America is owing as a nation and good thing is govt is not borrowing to pay salaries but for CAPEX. Continue to see doom and gloom everywhere. |
FarahAideed:You that you know pls enlighten us. |
