Car TalkRe: 22 Vehicle Manufacturers to Move into Nigeria by deeobserver209(m): 5:52pm On Oct 02, 2014
gatiano: Just when innoson rose up to making our own cars, the white gathered up in secret determined to undermine the growth of the nigerian made car. and agaga and group went behind to collect feed back from their masters in citi group against his own father's development. i think it is best that we should begin to do black first then others later.
I share your concern. In as much as its good news to know that foreign auto companies are willing to set up car plants in the country, the Nigerian government must thread carefully to avoid foreign domination of our Automobile Manufacturing sector.
Car TalkRe: 22 Vehicle Manufacturers to Move into Nigeria by deeobserver209(m): 5:09pm On Oct 02, 2014
ITbomb: We need most importantly a viable steel industry and plastics / rubber industry.

Most car manufacturers rely on other small companies as none produce all the components by themselves
Exactly.
BusinessRe: Ghana Plans To Export Electricity To Nigeria by deeobserver209(m): 4:15pm On Oct 02, 2014
kjhova: If Ghana carve a niche for themselves in electricity generation to the point of exporting same to Nigeria or any other country, there is no reason for anyone to be ashamed. This is how international trade relations work.

Any nation who insists on providing everything for itself can only go down. The largest oil refining centre in the EU is Holland, & bigger oil producing nations like UK also buy a large percentage of domestic requirement from Holland!

Nigeria requires about 150,000MW (i.e. 150GW) of electricity generation for our supply to match S/Africa's. From our current 4GW (2.7% of optimal requirement), we shouldn't be too ashamed to source for energy from any available source pending when our licensed companies are able to bridge the gap.

Ghana herself require up to 20GW of electricity production to meet BRICS standards & only currently have capacity of 3GW (15%) max.

Decisions to import or export or co-produce energy items are strictly economic rather than on the basis of infantile nationalism of the Idi Amin Dada mindset.
Well said. smiley

chamboy: Can u imagine, a helping hand from Ghana; Ghana of (Ghana must Go)
There's nothing shameful about Ghana helping Nigeria out in the area of electricity. It's a temporary measure. Besides Economic cooperation between African countries is far better than developed countries.
For starters, Nigeria will needs over $50 billion to invest in the power sector to generate more than enough electricity, and you and I know that there's no way Nigeria can afford that kind of huge amount.

BusinessRe: Nigeria Establishes 118 Power Projects To Address Electricity Challenges by deeobserver209(m): 10:09am On Oct 02, 2014
The biggest mistake made by government was building power stations across the country without adequate gas infrastructure. Not a strategic development. I believe Nigeria as a coal producer in commercial quantities should have built power stations around coal energy for a start until we solve our gross gas infrastructure deficit. This is one serious policy somersault done on the premises of avoiding environmental pollution.
BusinessRe: Ghana Plans To Export Electricity To Nigeria by deeobserver209(m):
A helping hand from Ghana to Nigeria on Electricity exportation is certainly a welcome development. Nigeria needs all the electricity to power up her economy.

However, our drive to make our economies and Countries stronger with functioning infrastructure should not be done on the alter of trying to woo in foreign investors. We should rather develop a blueprint to ancore indigenous companies to flourish in our emerging economies. These will not only provide job security for our teaming population but also provide capacity building in the area of technological innovation and development. Most importantly it will help stem the tide of capital flight.
PhonesRe: Nigeria Among Top 10 Smartphone And Tech Markets For Growth In 2015 In The World by deeobserver209(m): 9:35am On Oct 02, 2014
I would have been surprised if Nigeria was not among the first ten smartphone market.
The Telecommunication revolution had really impacted positively on the Nigerian economy. Like India, it has made Nigeria a destination of Choice for Smartphone companies. It's up to the authorities to help ensure that quality services are provided by the various Networks. The biggest challenge now is for the Telecommunication companies to improve the quality of mobile services to Nigerians.

FIASCO IN IRAN!
A Mission Comes to Grief in Iran.
Those were the headlines on US papers on the ill-fated American attempt to rescue American citizens kept hostage right inside their own embassy in Teheran.
The mission would have been a success had it not been for some nasty technical malfunction of some of their high tech helicopters and the loss of a C-130 cargo plane trying to discharge fuel in mid air.
Owing to severe mechanical crisis and safety of their marines and commandos, the United States President had to call off the rescue mission.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram’s ‘ICT Expert’ Arrested by deeobserver209(m):
Mrval20: I see BH as an internal problem. Moreover, don't you think fishing out and prosecuting the sponsors would vindicate some people and put an end to these finger pointing games?
Boko Haram have both internal and external dimensions. As it is today, boko haram has assumed a much more external dimension. Majority of their weapons are supplied outside Nigeria.

One big mistake people make about terrorism is the belief that terrorists sponsors can be identified and arrested easily with one or two information from captured footsoldiers. This is false. Most terrorists commanders themselves do not know who their backers are. Terrorists sponsors do not make direct contact with terrorists working for them. They do it through proxies. These proxies in are people who operate with many names and operate through multiple locations. A proxy for example can contact a boko haram commander and claim he is their sponsor and lives in katsina but in reality the proxy himself acts through another proxy who may live in Yemen or Algeria. See how difficult it is? They know what they're doing is evil so they make great efforts to cover their tracts.
The person possing as Shekau is actually not the real leader of boko haram. He is a proxy working with another proxy. The self style Shekau himself don't know who his real sponsors are. That's why I laugh at people who took the Australian Negotiator's revelation seriously concerning the alleged boko haram sponsors.
Terrorists do not expose their sponsors because they themselves don't know who they're. That's the reality. The best government can do is to limit their criminal activities through fire for fire and nothing more.
Fore those waiting for the capture or arrest of boko haram sponsors, they should be prepared to wait for a long time because it is a wild goose Chace.
BusinessRe: World Bank Ranks Nigeria Among Most Expensive Places To Invest by deeobserver209(m): 9:40am On Oct 01, 2014
True. Reason why most investors are discouraged from investing in the estate sectors of the economy. The major stumbling block to development in Nigeria as a whole is the cumbersome bureaucratic processes in the system.
Government should formulate policies that would not only address this anomaly of delayed property registration in the country but also reduce to the bearest minimum all cumbersome processes hindering speedy development in the system.

The list is grossly incomplete.

I was among those who thought Google may name the next version of their operating system, Android Lollipop. But after carefully examining the name 'Lollipop', I realized it may not be on the counter because the name have been bastadised and sexualised by the music industry.
I see Google rooting for 'Lemon' for their next Android L version.
