Yes because, like most of us to include Tinubu himself, the damage Buhari and his boys (Emefiele , Malami, Tunde Sabiu etal) has done shocked so many to the extent they hand to feel sorry for the sheer scale of problems, leaving Nigeria near collapsed, Tinubu had to face.

Anyone reasonable will know they must give Tinubu much longer than a year before commenting in light of what was revealed after PBAT became President.

You can imagine the madness revealed about how the Buhari government literally printed trillion Nigeria the Nigerian economy did not have the innate buoyancy to defend.

Emefiele even had an over 700 unit estate confisticated from him as proceeds of his monumental theft under Buhari. How much did others even closer to Buhari like Malami and Tunde Sabiu etal, steal? Hadi Sirika and the Nigerian Airline scam no?

Soyinka, regardless of what he has promised earlier, should tell you what, in a year, after the revelation above and much more? The man must have even felt sorry for Tinubu !!! You guys should learn to think pragmatically and critically . No disrespect meant.
This just sounds like the same ol same ol excuse making. PMB and PYO kept saying the same thing.

Besides lamenting corruption as your reasons for pitying BAT is just like saying it's so unfortunate that Lawrence Anini cannot perform because of the insecurity in the country. We all know BAT is a don in the matter of looting himself.

Rubbish. Soyinka, like most of us, has seen Tinubu do so much good while in opposition against an Obasanjo who wanted to destroy him and claim Lagos for the PDP.

Meaning it it is impossible for anyone who knows Jagaban's history, and is genuinely objective, not to feel they must give him time to turn Nigeria around.

Eko Atlantic, LFTZ, RRS police and literally countless transformational achievements of BAT where delivered when he was opposition Governor to a hostile ruling Party that had the Presidency and controlled the legislative arm overwhelmingly.

Is Soyinka, a rational human being, not justified wishing to give such a leader time to perform after he inherited a near failed Nigeria while hateful Igbos began hounding PBAT from the beginning of his Presidency?

It is those who began attacking Tinubu from day one as President, who have problems . Not Soyinka and progressive Nigerians who have seen what Tinubu has done as Governor and Party leader to ACN and APC to know that, given time, Jagaban will replicate same as President.
He promised to give his assessment of the govt after one year but fell silent.

Soyinka's silence on this government's performance is very odd dont you think. That's simply because he is BAT's friend and that doesnt speak well of an activist of his stature. Only excuse is he is growing very old now.

My laughter is not an admission of defeat, which seems so early for one like you to say given the fact that you do not know me, neither have we interacted before. I have made low a lot of your brothers and their ’doctrines’. I am one of the prime recipients for suspension along with TenQ to the extent I don't bother going to your section nor even mentioning the name of your prophet —to show you how bad it is.

I do not hide behind emojis, that's my way. I use emojis to portray my current state, whether you see it as ’hiding’ that's your business. I will still use emojis when in a conversation with any one and I hope your logic is strong, for you do not know what you want to face 🙃.

I actually suspect somebody pays them to come in here and do that anti-black stuff.

I refuse to believe a black man can hate himself to such an extent, and be such a frenzied foot-soldier for white supremacy
It will shock you. No one pays them. Thats the actual level of their thinking. What is frightening about this is that if it could be put down simply to a lack of proper education and information, then one could understand. But I know several people, not online but in real life who have the benefit of top notch education who are still "Uncle Toms" and totally subservient to whites, insisting that whites are supreme and superior. Yes, black men from the upper class and upper middle class believing that. It's benumbing.

America has developed despite being colonized?

So you do not know that you are talking about the colonizers themselves, right?

Please tell me where the Native Americans are today.

If you dont understand the relevance then the matter is far more serious than I even thought.

Its truly pitiful.

No one came here to wail anything. No one talking about excuses for our underdevelopment. You were worshipping white people for permitting black people in their countries. It was pointed out to you that this is a consequence of their history of global imperialism. You then start spouting all sorts of things. And you dare say that America was colonized but is now developed. It appears you know exactly nothing.

It is not surprsing that you choose not to reply further. Its better that way to avoid further embarrasing yourself.

You people need to stop wailing about colonization and grow up. America was colonized too and has become the world's most powerful country today...they don't go about crying about colonization. Whether they colonized us or not, they don't owe us anything any longer.

The truth of the matter is that the west is embracing peoples of other races because they need to increase their population and build a knowledge economy.

That's why they mostly allow a certain category of people, especially those who relocate through education as they play a key role in their broader plan of building a futuristic knowledge economy. This is something Asians won't allow because they already have a massive talent pool in their population.

Despite that, I still appreciate the fact that they allow immigrants to become their citizens because, to be honest, life is not fair and they don't owe anyone anything. They can still use immigrants and dump them like those oil-rich folks of the Middle East.

@OneCandleAway I think Japan has an ageing population, so they are doing the same thing the west does.
We are more grown than you think. Your comments also betray staggering ignorance of history. No one is wailing. You fell down to worship your Colonial master for permitting you into his country and people stepped up to point out the obvious reasons and you start going on about wailing and not owing us. Please stop joking.

Honestly, I must give some credit to the west (white people) for making blacks their citizens and allowing them hold key government position.

This is something we don't even allow among ourselves here in Nigeria and I know for certain that Asians will never allow. Asian are as wicked as blacks.
It's different. Asian countries did not colonize Africa. If they did they would have a similar level of integration with Africa necessarily.

A country like Britain extracted alot from its colonies like India and in Africa. That's why you have that necessary and unavoidable relationship.

However I agree with you regarding our tribalism and wickedness to one another.

thehomer:
The universe is a special case.
And yet one such as you would be quick to censure a religionist for special pleading.

Why can you not prove or substantiate exactly what exempts the universe from such iron cast logic?

It is not sufficient to mouth all the platitudes physcists and cosmologists do in saying that "the laws of physics breakdown" the closer one gets to the singularity, etc. It must be shown exactly how and why - and that it even happens at all in the first place. Beyond this, this matter of the question of what the universe expands into is so basic and fundamental that the usual ruse about the laws of physics breaking down simply cannot suffice to side step it.

How do you know this? Is this because you've observed expansion of bodies within the universe?
We should be able to know something about its properties as it will have to interact with this universe. Afterall, the universe will be pushing that material out of the way wouldn't it?
I dont know whether or not it will be pushing that material "out of the way." What is iron-clad is that nothing can expand without space. Such a statement is inherently self contradictory.

The very word "expand" in a physical sense already connotes growth into larger space. No one can logically speak of a physical expansion without larger space. It is impossible.

Ordinarily, no one would argue this point save for the fact that you all see the problem: that it represents a challenge to the existing scientific model of the existence of the universe, and thus, exactly as religionists would do when their theology is challenged, you come up with absurdities and special pleadings.

But according to you, the most successful organisms which are unicellular are not conscious. Lots multicellular organisms aren't conscious either. Are you arriving at this conculsion because you're a conscious human?
All organisms are conscious to varying degrees.

To be clear, you think 4 billion years isn't enough time for evolution.
Yes. The sort of changes described within the ToE would require next to an eternity to move from a unicellular organism to a human being. It would be akin to a monkey seeking to win a chess game by random moves or a monkey writing the complete works of Shakespeare by picking random letters one at a time from a bag.

This does not mean I am saying that evolution works by chance. I am explaining probabilities and timelines involved.

In August 2025, I faced one of the toughest blows in my professional and creative life.

After writing and publishing 80 books in 3 years on Amazon KDP, I woke up one day to find my account permanently banned. No prior warning. No specific explanation. No chance to genuinely fix anything. Just a blunt message: “Your account has been terminated.”

I appealed. I waited. I hoped. But the response was the same — rejection without clarity.

It felt like watching years of hard work, sleepless nights, and passion suddenly erased.
I didn’t just lose books. I lost:

A source of income I had carefully built.

An outlet where my voice reached readers around the world.

A dream I had invested deeply in.

But here’s the part I want to share openly: I refuse to see this as the end.

Because those 80 books are still proof of my discipline, creativity, and consistency.
Because the skills I developed in writing, publishing, and marketing cannot be banned.
Because setbacks are not the end — they are redirections.

Yes, I am hurt. Yes, I am disappointed. But I am also grateful:
🙏 Grateful for the lessons learned.
🙏 Grateful for the global readers who discovered my work.
🙏 Grateful for the chance to rise again, this time smarter and stronger.

This experience has taught me two things:
1️⃣ Never build all your dreams on a single platform. Own your audience. Diversify.
2️⃣ Resilience matters. Systems may fail you, but your spirit must not.

Amazon may have shut a door on me, but it also opened my eyes to explore Kobo, IngramSpark, Smashwords, and even building my own publishing path.

I’m not quitting. I’m simply pivoting.

So if you’re reading this, let my story remind you: when life pulls a rug under your feet, stand taller on the bare floor.

The pen is still in my hand, and the story continues. ✍️
You have written 80 books? That already sounds like you were spamming Amazon.

It is actually printed in the Nigerian gun permit that it is ONLY for hunting, which they call "gaming" in the wording that appears on each permit.

In other words, if a Nigerian home owner shoots and kills armed robbers in his home, he would be making a serious mistake in calling the police. His best bet would be to load the bodies in a vehicle, and drop them far away before daybreak.
Hahahhahahahhahahaha! @ your last line.

Growing up many many years ago in Nigeria, I insulted the hell out of Oyedepo. I will not lie. I was quite young and naive then.

My favourite name for him back then was OLE-DEPO (GOD Forgive me though) grin grin

There was even some tribalism to it because I was worried as why a YORUBA MAN will be making that much money in Igboland through DECEPTION. smiley

I will go online back then and query why normal human beings will give a percentage of their salary to someone who was doing far better than most of them.

I saw them as mad or mentally unstable people.

I was very young and naive. Quite understandably.

But here is the mystery.

I have grown up, travelled out of the country and settled down to a very good life.

Every month though, I change a part of my small salary and send to the Church of David Oyedepo. A sizeable amount of my small money for his mission works. Without him asking me for a dime.

Same thing I fought against vehemently both online and offline.

I have not met him before. I have not attended his church before.

I am not under any mental, spiritual or emotional manipulation. Trust me on this.

Who can explain this?

What happened to me?
Lol. Something good happened to you and you imagine its singularly due to sending money to Oyedepo.

Also, put the minimum wage thing out of your mind. Its nonsense.

You don't know me. So don't hide under calling me a kid. Let's stick to the fact. 20k in 2008 was about 300% of the minimum wage then. If we extrapolate it to today, that should be around 210k for the 70k minimum wage. Now I'm asking you how many people are earning 210k today as farm manager in Nigeria. Besides as at the exchange rate of N85 to a dollar then, 20k you're earning will be $235. As at today, 210k which is the direct equivalent in wage terms is $140. So are you richer or poorer than the equivalent earner today? Answer that yourself! I won't even go into rent issues. That's a totally dead end.

Telecoms and banking are part of the services sector of the economy. Comparing them directly with agriculture which is a sector on its own shows you don't even understand what is being said here. Under Agric, we have livestock, crop, agric processing etc.
More importantly, agriculture largely exist in the informal sector of the economy while telecoms and banking are part of the organised private sector which is what I'm referring to. Those two are easily the largest employer of labour in the organised sector.
That said, if we're to go to the informal sector, I believe that claim that Agric is the largest employer is outdated. Most Nigerians today are into trading. From petty trading to larger shops and outlets. Trading is the largest employer of labour in today's Nigeria not agriculture
20k in 2008 was still nothing and could not keep anyone for a month my boy.
