Because they dont contain the sort of supernatural fantasies I listed for one thing. They could be inaccurate, that's for sure, but show me one history text that mentions a talking snake, and I will drop the matter. |

FreeIgboho: Not with the way it happened with Jesus (over thousands of years and by unimpeachable people). See a list of who has to be wrong: *Isaiah and other prophets (prophets who were never wrong) * John the Baptist * The 3 kings who worshipped him as an infant * Peter and other apostles * Jesus himself who said he was the Alpha and Omega and the "I AM" *The 300 bishops at Nicea who were almost unanimous * Etc Alas, you have mistaken the Bible for a History Text Book. It is full of a lot of myth, legends and Jewish lore / fantasies. Alot there was also borrowed from much older cultures and traditions mainly to the East. How many of these do you consider events that we can take as history - 1. That a snake spoke to a woman in a Garden called Eden 2. That a donkey spoke to a prophet while on a journey 3. That angels slept with women to produce giants 4. That a man slept in the belly of a fish for three days Do you regard these as historical events for which we can say, yes, we hold them true and we can use as evidence of truth of your claims? |

horpe132: .. Same thing affects/affected payment by card... At least the cards are hosted/funded by an entity.... That entity also needs to come to CBN or their financial partners to reconcile what they've sold (dollars/Naira), and claim their profit...and roll again .... Na there wahala dey When this thing started, you could not even make some basic subscriptions which were Google-related - not companies who would approach CBN for any USD. Not the expert on this stuff, but I didnt have the sense that the country was losing USD / Forex that way because if they accepted your naira card and converted it in electronic money to their currency offshore automatically, such naira monies surely must reflow to naira expenditure destinations to balance up. Anyway, as I said, this is not my area of expertise, but one thing no one can argue about is that that policy did not have any positive impact on our forex flows whatsoever, or even the rate of the naira, etc, so I struggles to see the benefit. In fact, after the policy was implemented things only ever got worse by every forex metric. . . . |

They shut it down cos it (the system from CBN) was confusing & uncertain for market operators... .. Too much speculation, fraud, backdoor deal etc.... so automatically it must be killed or it kills itself at a point I am talking about payments by cards oh. |

1. The north are not foolish 2. The north are not emotional 3. The north knows balablu far more than you people. The truth is, other than those who may vote him for tribal loyalty there are *very few* throughout Nigeria who will wish to see him back. We simply can't lie about the fact that he has represented hardship, starvation and death to the majority. You can sing and dance about long term plans but the ordinary voter does not go to the polls with that in mind. Most don't even believe his long terms plans because the ongoing corruption is obvious to everyone. Nigeria, unfortunately is a deeply tribalistic society. And whilst his SW bloc will not entirely support him, you will find that most of his support will still come from there (same with other candidates by the way). |

If terrorism is flourishing freely in certain parts of Nigeria for quite a while now, then the Nigerian state has failed.., failed as in a Failed State. Agreed, Nigeria has generally failed, and not just on this matter. But knowing the roots of the BK problem can help develop out of the box solutions. At more international dimensions. That doesnt necessarily amount to "blaming others" - a really intelligent approach might require involving those others in the solution! |

The primary purpose and responsibility of government, above all else, is the PROTECTION of its citizens.
When the senseless slaughter of 38, 50, 100 ,300 citizens on a daily basis no longer makes headlines, no longer engender emergency press conferences from government security agencies, then it should be obvious that what we call government are themselves nothing but an assemblage of bandits, albeit, a slightly different type of bandits. Does Nigeria have a Self interest? What is Nigeria's Self interest?
Nigerians kill, rape, loot and plunder Nigeria and Nigerians than had any colonialist power ever did. That is fact. Understood but what Western powers did in Libya had a cascade / knock on effect in producing much of the terrorism in the Sahel and Northern Nigeria. |

FreeIgboho: I guess it all depends on what we and this our reality actually are (vs what we think we are) and what God actually is. Suppose it turns out this is actually a family project and Jesus happens to be the only member of the family who agreed to debase himself and visit earth to remedy some fundamental errors? It could be anything and probably something beyond our wildest imagination. Slightly better propositions. As for prophecy, of course anything is possible but some things are highly unlikely - "God with us" was prophesied, "Prince of peace" was prophesied, "atonement for sins of the world" was prophesied, so were birth in Bethlehem, Mighty God, birth in a manger, etc. Why only Jesus in particular, who was not known for faking things? Why didn't any other person try to do same. ANYTHING can be doubted but, like I said, in this world we go by preponderance of circumstantial evidence, not proof! You keep writing as if you were there to see these things happen. There is no single evidence that they did. Dont you know that anything can be written? I have a copy of Nostradamus' prophecies. There are so many i can simply write anything to make it appear that i have fulfilled one. The whole thing doesnt mean jack. I also hope you know Jesus did not write a single word. All the gospels are stories written about him decades after his death (if he existed) - and there are many of them, not just four - four were chosen by the Roman Curia - many more stories exist which totally contradict those four stories. PS: Those four stories were not even written by the people they were ascribed to. |

You can't know better than all the generations of people who foretold Jesus as God coming, worshipped him when he came, and still worshipping him over 2000 years later! Obviously it has never occurred to you that it is possible to deliberately fulfill a prophecy if one is aware of it, or to deliberately claim that it was fulfilled, or even write the prophecy after the fulfillment. I say this generally of prophecies, not of your Jewish Lord in particular. How do I deliberately fulfill a prophecy? Simple. I know of it. It says one will ride a donkey into Jerusalem. So I hire the donkey and ride in deliberately. Prophecy fulfilled. Look, even if all of those things were true, no, I would not believe that any man is God. They would at best mean that he was a prophet or messenger from higher realms. Because for me, God is not personal. IT remains beyond all existence. |

FreeIgboho: It is very tiring trying to refute a cogent, intellectually honest statement (example, my post above). Simple: you're in no position to say: "Jesus can't be God because..." Now, if another person claims to be God and it's only them saying it, etc, I can dismiss them as liars Perhaps you dont know me. I have many years of setting out the arguments carefully. I have nothing to prove to merchants of illogic. https://www.nairaland.com/1341464/anony-deep-sight-verse-verse#16582813Those are just some biblical points - both sides. But fundamentally Jesus is not God because he was, if he existed, just another man. If you think his life was incredible fine. Many have had incredible lives. Its also absurd worshipping your fellow man, dont you know. God is transcendental, ineffable, unknowable. Its absurd to point to any man and call him God. I cant proceed with you though, as you say things like "good is not good" and you set out lists and say you didnt. Its impossible to discuss. |

The real way to stem the tide is to ramp up commerce and industry across the country. Are there any social services in any part of Nigeria? I am not aware. sulaak: Critical thinking is one of the biggest downfalls of African people; we never solve problems until it's too late. We will continue with the uncontrolled internal migration until it's too late, and then resort to ethnic violence because we refuse to implement policies that will control internal migration.
The Chinese use the Hokou system to manage internal migration; you can't just travel to a state or city and arrange your accommodation, or state your purpose of travel. This is the reason why China, with 1.5 billion, don't have ghetto or illegal settlements and all the insecurity and upheaval that come with uncontrolled internal migration. How would this system work in a Nigeria without social services and where most people do everything for themselves? Do you think migrants to Lagos are coming to collect any social services here? I dont think so. |
