Re-read again - any land held or vested in the federal government, and references to Governor shall be construed accordingly.

Meaning the FG cannot give C of Os without reference to Governors.
This is not the correct interpretation of that quote though.

You can’t just underestimate the political prowess of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).

Having a better replacement on standby!

This is what you call a leader. Someone ready to make more efficient substitutions when it matters.

We are living in the times of a political demigod.
What we need is a governance demigod. Politics doesnt save us. Good governance will.

What do you mean by "they refused to be around to identify themselves"? You mean you can report a case of trespass to the police, file a case in court, obtain a judgement, and execute the judgement all without interacting with the accused. Its even more absurd when you consider that we are talking about a property, with security and other workers working or residing there. No evidence of letters addressed to anybody in the property. Just evidence of subsituted service to an anonymous person or entity.
Sheer madness.

I dont know why the usage of the word "practicing" here is somewhat queer and amusing to me. We practice law, we practice medicine, is anal sex a profession, lol.

Yeah, yeah, I understand the usage is correct, it just makes me smile.

You are now coming back to reality to admit the obvious. It's not in within the powers of the FG to issue C of O on state lands. To show that FG acquired Unilag from the state government and gazetted such prove that assertion.

Now coming back to this case. I am aware the FG sold off most of its properties in Lagos at the onset of this democratic dispensation in 1999. So it is reasonable that she bought the Land from FG in 2003, and the sale should have been gazetted. Now, having bought it from the FG, she should have still obtained a C of O and possibly governor's consent from the Lagos State government. She should have been paying ground rent and relevant taxes to the Lagos State government since then. These are what would have made her ownership indisputable. Now, I am not aware who Peter obi or brother acquired the property from, but they seem to have been obtained a C of O from the Lagos State government and been paying relevant taxes. If Mrs Olorunlogbon had been straight forward and taken the proper legal channels, by first writing to the company or persons occupying the property and then taking them to court and serving them personally, the matter would have been resolved in court without all the hullabaloo. Now the matter is just starting in court after much damage had been done to the property. As the matter is in court, no one can make use of the property until the cases is determined, which might take years.
Again, perfectly said.

Thank you for the video which I have gone through. Now note - I didnt say there is no such thing as a Federal C-of-O. I said there should be no such thing in this case. Now, obviously there are special cases where such applies - e.g: land in the FCT. Also even before your video I asked if you were referring to coastal land or land along inland waterways - and urged you to be specific. So that it exists is not the question. The legality, like wirinet said, is the question.

Now please note that even where there is a long standing practice of the FG issuing C-of-Os on some land, this does not necessarily make it right. Also the matter of the FG acquiring and gazetting land does not automatically supersede the provisions of the Land Use Act. The FG as a body-corporate can purchase land and sell land - this takes nothing away from what authority the State Government has as the issuing authority of that land if it is within that State.

What you need to provide is not stale practice, but specific laws which state that in X case, the authority of the state government will not apply and the authority of the FG will supersede as the trust and issuing power of the said land.

I have provided a law - the Land Use Act.

All you need to do is provide a law as well and then show that it applies in this specific case.
Its as simple as that.

No one is arguing that such a thing as Fed C-of-O exists or not.

The fact that the FG does something does not make it legal. In Nigeria states and the FG engage in lots of illegalities, and only comes to light when someone takes the FG or state to court. Gani Fawehinmi has taken FG to court on many issues and won. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN took the Lagos State government to court over the environmental sanitation exercise which restricted freedom of movement as enshrined in our constitution, and won.

Once again, the Nigerian constitution and the Land use act of 1978, does not give FG the power over Land matters except in few exceptions. The president or ministers cannot give C of O in states, except Abuja of course. I am glad this case is coming up, and I hope this case is pursued beyond ownership of the disputed property, but resolve the issue of the legality of FG issuing C of O once and for all.
Perfectly said.

You yourself observed that the lawyer didn't address the FG 'C of O' matter right? Because he knows its not out of place.

All the other things you are saying is story. Why do you people don't ever want to learn and relearn?? You have been provided info that FG issues C of O for FG owned properties in Lagos. After which the beneficiaries goes to State govt to get the State C of O and you are still arguing.

There are many of such properties in VI, Ikoyi and Apapa. I have seen many of those FG issued C of Os. I even have 2 of such with me but can't post it because of privacy issues.
Just show us the law that permits the FG to do that outside the FCT, simple. No long thing.

PS: Note that you have contradicted yourself - because if the so called FG C-OF-O was valid, why would anyone then go to convert it to a state C-OF -O?

Another ignorant fellow. Dem say make una open una mind to receive new info, new knowledge, una no gree. Thats why people like you will become victims of scammers later and then be disturbing the peace of the polity.
Oga, Land in the states is the prerogative of state governments under Nigerian Land Law. Specifically land is held in trust by the state governor.

https://www.mondaq.com/nigeria/land-law-agriculture/1523196/understanding-the-land-use-act-in-nigeria-a-comprehensive-guide

If you want to dispute that, please kindly produce references. If you want to argue that there are places held by the FG, do let me know and I will listen carefully. You might want to argue for land by inland waterways or the coast for example. Just mention it and lets know where you are going.

The lawyer never addressed the issue of C of O being issued by the FG. From my unlearned interpretation of the land use act of 1978, all land in each state is vested in the governors, who holds it in trust for the people, except a few exceptions like waterways, beach fronts and critical federal infrastructure.
Dont mind that unteachable fellow. There can be nothing like Federal C of O here.

Don’t say my country is protesting for fun. Only the wearer of the shoe knows where it pinches. Do you know that abductions of government critics have not stopped? There’s a kid who was in the news yesterday. He was picked up on the weekend but his family is yet to know of his where about. The finance bill has been in discussion to be tabled again. In the last two weeks, people have been upset after a high school teacher who was also blogger, got picked up by the police after criticizing the deputy inspector general of police. They drove over 400 km from his village to Nairobi, bypassing so many police stations and courts of law. He died in jail & they lied that he slammed himself on the cell walls. The most painful bit is that he was his parent’s only child. CCTV footage was deleted. Autopsy proved he was murdered. Several officers are in jail. Apparently the DIG with his juniors picked him up in the night from the cell. They took him to a forest where they tortured him. They panicked after he became unresponsive. They took him to hospital knowing he was dead but was rejected by the hospital. The big shot who ordered the murder from the president’s tribe and is roaming free. Junior officers are in jail, yet they acted under instructions. Another guy too died in jail, but his case has been overshadowed by the protests. A lot of evil things going on. The president sent communications department to disable signals that enable local TV live streaming today. The oppressor of Kenyans who lies without blinking.
Pls I apologise on behalf of that poster and my country. That poster is a paid propagandist who defends all oppression and condemns anything in favour of the people or the masses consistently.

Nobody is worshipping anybody here, at least not for me. Ask me about insecurity, and I will tell you this government isn't any better than Buhari's or Jonathan's. I don't praise blindly.
This post reveals everything I suspected. You don't know anything about how government works. If you think it's everything that gets to the Presidents desk then you don't know anything at all.

Secondly you have revealed yourself. I can't stand people who, without even knowing another person's political stance, will just start talking about Peter Obi once the govt is criticized. How do you know I am not an Atiku or even Sowore supporter. It's very tiresome and pitiful the way you guys just make everything about PO and it reveals who you are. It shows that you are not about constructive criticism like you claimed rather you belong to the obsessed gang.

Tinubu is trying to right the wrongs of the past leaders through this gesture. Same thing he is doing with the accrued pension benefit for federal retirees under the CPS whose accrued benefits date back to pre 2004.

It is important to criticise but can you do so like someone with a brain?

Past leaders (both military and civilian) didn't prioritise the need to redeem their pledge but here we have someone who is trying to do the right thing, yet agenda must agend for wailers.

Let's criticise government where they are failing and appreciate them where they are getting it right. Perpetual complaining in all situation (good or bad) is actually a mental illness.
Are you not tired of worshipping your oppressors and glorifying corrupt thieves and bandits in government? ? ? ? ?

The problem I see here is the attempt to praise BAT for this. He probably knows nothing of it.

It's too desperate of you guys, you know how bad this government is, and so when you see the slightest thing which is normal process in government you start heaping praises on BAT.
