Shows you don't know what a city means....

Abuja and owerri

Definition: A city is a place where many people live together. They usually have large systems of houses, as well as ways of communicating and keeping the city clean.

1. Owerri has a more built up CBD than Abuja
2. Owerri has a more efficient intra-city transport system(bus imo)
3. Owerri has more road connections than ikeja
4. Owerri is the only city in Nigeria that looks beautiful when you do an aerial view of 4 cardinal points from same spot(I challenge you to disprove this)
5. Owerri has an underground drainage system that leads to Nworie River.
6. Owerri has a functional fire service system
7. Owerri has the best e-governance system; they are a tech hub
8. Inspite of security challenges, owerri still leads in night life, while others are just pretenders
9. The urban planning in owerri is world class, with an iconic land mark (inland bypasses) connecting old and new owerri
10. It is a holiday destination for visitors who wish to explore the hospitality industry

Many people who had the opportunity to own a home in owerri, but misused it, live in regret till date
Bros, it's obvious Owerri is your hometown. Go siddon.

First let's talk about Size and population.

A town is typically smaller than a city when it comes to population and size, it's population normally ranges from a few hundred to may be a thousands. But a City is Larger, with a population that is usually higher than tens of thousands to a million+

Cities also are more urbanized than towns, and also more developed with a greater emphasis on modernization and progress.

Also when it comes to infrastructure, towns tends to have a more basic infrastructure like smaller roads, very few public services and limited amenities, whereas cities have a more developed infrastructure including schools , hospitals, Larger roads and intricate road networks, public transport and a wider range of amenities like malls and shopping center
Thank you, but you didn't say anything we didn't already know.

With this, in the case of Akwa ibom, Uyo is a City, Eket or ikot abasi may be considered as towns. In the case of Enugu, it's town would be Nsukka while Enugu city is a City.
The mere fact that Enugu and Uyo are bigger than the smaller towns around them does not necessarily make them cities. When you compare them to real cities, one sees that they remain towns. I am even more inclined to concede to Uyo being a city than I am inclined to concede to Enugu being one. Uyo is more metropolitan and with certain facilities is bigger (E.g: The stadium).

Lagos can stand beside the biggest cities in the world and still be called a city. It can never be called a town. But if you put Enugu beside a New York you will understand why I call it a town.

As for places like Eket, the truth is that they are more like well built villages. Don't keep imagining that a village is a place with mud huts.

I'm actually just curious so I'm willing to accept this might be true, but which metrics of sophistication are you evaluating on?
Do you want to start with the Oil Companies and the multiple effects of their presence? Do you want to talk about the sophistication of entertainment options, namely the pedigree of restaurants and hotels? Do you want to talk about the international mix of people dwelling there, especially the significant expatriate community? And nowadays do you want to talk about the infrastructure, from roads, bridges to air and sea port?

Ibadan is an old town and was always the largest in West Africa for a long time but truth is much of it is very unsightly, you have to admit.

Part of the problem is you haven't been to PH. If you had, you will recognize that other than Lagos and Abuja it is the next most significant city in Nigeria. In many ways. Aside from being a petroleum hub, it is also a centre of significant national politics.

No, that's not true. Central Ibadan is quite clean and has nice spacious roads. There are razz parts of course but if you're a middle class person nothing should really concern you with those parts. Where did you stay when you were in Ibadan?
Save a few times in my childhood, I just pass through. I know there are nice areas of course, I am speaking overall.

Ok well last place I stayed was at IITA for a management retreat many years ago.

No wonder there are many "Slaves obey your master" command in the Bible!

The Bible was edited to contain Jesus's story from birth to few months old, then at 12 years then at 30-33years!

All those years of 1-11years, 13-29years are missing. That's like 90% of Jesus's lifetime is missing from the Bible.

And they claim the Bible is about Jesus!

I can relate to the destruction!
King James wrote Daemonologie and was one of the major instigators of the witch hunts and witch-burnings.

As a foreign observer, I believe President Trump's economic policies, particularly his tariffs, are a strategic move to boost the US economy. The Trump tariffs aim to level the playing field for American businesses and workers by imposing taxes on imported goods. This approach has both supporters and critics, but it is designed to protect US industries, generate revenue, and stimulate domestic production and investment. While the tariffs may lead to higher prices for consumers and reduced economic growth in the short term, they can also be seen as a negotiating tool to secure more favorable trade agreements with other countries. The tariffs imposed on China, Canada, and Mexico, as well as those on steel and aluminum, are specific examples of this policy in action. Overall, Trump's tariffs are a complex and multifaceted policy aimed at promoting American economic interests.
Yet another Trumpist illiterate.
You dont even understand the simplest things. First you dont understand that its the American Consumer who will suffer. Second, you imagine that suffering is limited to Democrats. What a retard.

Every single trading relationship the US has with other nations were specifically and deliberately crafted by the US for the benefit of the US.
The US economy is greatest beneficiary of the current global trading arrangement. So it doesn't make sense that they are complaining of unfair trade. US economic power comes from these trade arrangements that makes everything available and cheap for US consumers. This is what every empire in history dreams of and fights to attain. That Donald Trump is trying dismantle the underpinnings of US economic power and dominance is baffling,..unless he is on mission to do just that.
He is probably just another illiterate Trumpist.

That's not the case.

Trump is trying to accelerate the impact of the interest rates by using tariffs as a form of pressure. This tactic is to finish what the hike in rates is expected to do, that's why he's pushing the Federal Reserve to lower rates now to prevent a recession from the combined effects. While the tariff strategy aims to address global imbalances and encourage other countries to offer the best deals to the U.S, it also sets the stage for the president to implement the largest tax cuts that he promised the Americans.

I believe Mr. President got a plan.

The ONLY reason this ugly hook-nosed old witch would post pictures of someone's mixed-race ancestors online is because our delusional ancient crone is stuck in her 1942 heydey when white colonialism was rampant throughout the globe, and where any claim to links with the White Gods would be cause for uppity black savages to instantly prostrate themselves on the dusty ground in awe-struck homage and snivelling reverence at the feet of the White God impersonator.

It comes as no surprise that a retired old sex-worker and mother of numerous bastard spawn sired by multiple tasteless customers, and sporting a misshapen sack-of-potatoes body topped with a hideous high-mileage Halloween mask mug that only a mother could love, would become desperate enough for publicity to dredge up faded pictures of people's ancestors dating back to Nigeria's colonial era, and post them online in a frantic bid to qualify for the adulation of fellow simpletons.

The most entertaining humor is often that which was NOT intended to be funny, only for the entire effort to become a comedy classic. Absolutely rubish this OP wrote, if Palm oil could power aircraft, Palm oil should be one of the most expensive commodity in the world
Jakumo:
Furthermore, Biafra never operated a single aircraft for the entire duration of the civil war. Mercenary pilots did show up to help the Biafran war effort, but they were renting their planes and pilots to the Biafrans. The legendary Swedish aviator Count Von Rosen decimated quite a few federal troop formations during Biafran-sponsored air strikes using his civilian light aircraft that was fitted with rocket launchers.
Just ran the question through Google AI- The results -

-------

Yes, it is true that palm oil has been refined to power aircraft, although it's typically used in blends with conventional jet fuel rather than as a 100% replacement. Here's a detailed explanation:

Key Points:

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Palm oil can be processed into a type of biofuel known as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). SAF is designed to reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional jet fuel.

HEFA Technology: The primary method used to refine palm oil into SAF is called Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) technology. This process converts refined bleached deodorized palm (kernel) oil into a fuel suitable for aviation.

Commercial Flights: In October 2023, Indonesia conducted its first commercial flight using a Boeing 737-800NG aircraft powered by a jet fuel blend containing 2.4% palm oil-based SAF. The fuel was produced by the Indonesian state energy company PT Pertamina.

Military Use: Prior to commercial use, Indonesia had also successfully used palm oil-blended fuel in its military aircraft (CN 250) in 2021.
Greenhouse Gas Reduction: Palm-based SAF is reported to emit fewer greenhouse gases compared to conventional fossil fuels.

Indonesia's Initiative: As the world's largest producer of palm oil, Indonesia is actively exploring the use of vegetable oils, including palm oil, to reduce its reliance on crude oil imports and promote sustainable aviation.

Blending Mandates: Indonesia has implemented biodiesel programs (like B35, which blends 35% palm oil with fossil diesel for ground transportation) and had a previous mandate for a 3% biofuel blend in jet fuel, although the latter faced delays in implementation.

Global Efforts: The aviation industry globally is looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint, and SAF is considered a crucial part of this effort. Experts estimate a significant need for SAF by 2050 to meet net-zero goals.

Concerns: Despite the progress, there are concerns regarding the sustainability of palm oil production, particularly regarding deforestation.

Some regions, like the European Union, have imposed import restrictions due to these environmental concerns. Airlines have also been wary of using palm oil due to potential negative publicity.

You are right. One of the reasons Egypt is building a new capital from ground up is to prevent what happened that led to regime change. A way to protect future governments.

Nigeria did something similar when we moved the capital city from Lagos to Abuja. It was a way to shield governments from coups and the likes.

It kind of worked though as Nigeria has only experienced one coup since moving the capital to Abuja
Then you are not counting the CIA one of 1998 which included Egyptian girls, apples, spiked tea and what have you.

This is true. The brain would derive comparable benefits regardless of whether students were required to memorize the Quran, or to memorize the flight operations manual for a Boeing 737-900 passenger jet purely for the brain expanding benefits of such an exercise.

But for my first-hand knowledge about several Fulani scholarship students from poor backgrounds whose grades were consistently in the A-plus range in all subjects until their graduation, I would never have spent any time pondering over the coincidence of so many brilliant scholars sharing Fulani ancestry. That speculative wonderment is what led me to suspect that Islamic studies may have played a role in the academic brilliance of all those kids.

Be that as it may, it is heartbreaking to consider that millions of brilliant young minds go undiscovered in northern Nigeria due to the limited educational opportunities offered to a rapidly growing population. This denial of education lies at the heart of why terrorism has taken root in northern Nigeria.
And sadly, that denial is very very deliberate.
Politics › Re: Nigerians Are The Most Successful Emigrants Worldwide by DeepSight(m): 8:19pm On Apr 03, 2025

In the past, I shared your view that Islamic education was a waste of time, but having seen the phenomenal performance in traditional science subjects recorded by students whose earliest academic endeavors entailed memorizing the Quran verbatim, my perceptions about the lasting value of all that memorization changed completely, in that I now believe Islamic studies have the potential to enhance any given student's grades in traditional science subjects, due to the highly developed memory capacities that Islamic students develop while memorizing the Quran.
But that is not really so much a benefit of Islamic Studies as it is a side-benefit of the culture of memorizing a large script.
That can equally be applied to any other script.
