Northerners in Nigeria are far more educated than southerners.

Most southerner degrees are fake oluyole or gotten through cheating and all sorts of examination malpractices because it is very difficult to find a southerner with a genuine degree

Do you lot even read? Who implemented the tarrifs first? What do you understand by retaliatory tariffs?

It's the same Macron that's locking up the opposition leader under the guise of funds mismanagement, seeing she's most likely gonna win the next election, even though their judiciary stated they didn't enrich themselves directly?

Or the same Macron that was so pained cos francophone west africa woke up and chased out the French from their countries?

Are you aware the French government is still collecting returns from francophone countries in Africa, makes them store up their resources in France, amongst other ills?

That's the despicable human you are talking about. Smh

People love fools...once you wake up and say "no more taking advantage of me", they start crying blood.

Trump is not a politician...an anomaly, that's why he's able to shake things up. Before you cry fowl, CNN conducted polls, and the approval rating of the Democratic Party was about 20%. Trumps rating is well above 50%. So if the Americans are pleased with him, you absolutely have nothing to say in this.

Sit this one out.
I am afraid it is you who do not read. I appreciate the points about France and I particularly despise it's neocolonialism in Africa which happily is being unbundled.

However in terms of what's going on now, it was initiated by Trump: in his gross idiocy, illiteracy and egoistic power drunkenness. He has no understanding of tariffs in the first place. Please do not even dare pretend that the US is a poor victim merely reacting to being exploited by the world.

Go and look at the tarrifs imposed on US products coming to their countries, and you will be shocked, including Nigeria. No wonder goods imported from USA are more expensive and that is why most traders prefer the Chinese market.

Also, the American consumers will bear the brunt, which will discourage purchase of foreign products and services, and boost local production... Basic Economics
Not even 100 per cent tarriff will compete with cheap labor driven China. And exactly how long do you even expect such an impossible turn around to take?

Some investors may take advantage of it to produce locally driving down price and the demand would be high
You don't understand. Manufacturing in the USA can never be internationally competitive anymore. The cheap cost of labor in China has ended that story forever.

Macron seems to seek a futuristic role as the leader of USA.

I will be against trump if the balance of trade is near equal but if there is a huge deficit l, I don't think any sane country will fold her arms while her country is being taken advantage of.
When was the USA being taken advantage of? What was wrong with the US and world economy before now? You have an illiterate president who doesnt even understand what a Tarriff is (he thinks it is a tax strictly on those importing into the US which he can use as punishment). He doesnt know that it is American consumers that will bear the brunt and American lives that will be hurt.

Manufacturing is no longer a competitive advantage for America. The U.S. simply can't compete in this sector anymore and should instead focus on maintaining its edge in services. Even with a 100% tariff imposed by Trump, goods manufactured in Asia would still be cheaper than those produced in the U.S. Curious to know why?
Everyone knows. The cost of labor against which the US can NEVER compete.
And on top of that, he is chasing away the little cheap labor they have!

This is very future proof, the next Nigeria regime should have it in mind to build a futuristic business, technology, industrial and commercial capital for Nigeria by carving out parts of kogi and Edo state bordering river Niger where there's enough space, dredging it via the river niger down to the Atlantic Ocean, there is land very much unutilized around that axis, and build a hyper scale futuristic technology and commercial capital that will host next generation business hubs.
They should use the entire confluence region.

Nigerians are really very funny people. Ordinary to build a befitting VP lodge in Abuja, the administration was attacked and insulted like Shettima will take the house away to Maiduguri after his tenure.

When Tinubu started the Eko Atlantic City and Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, Peter Obi and his supporters made it a daily routine to speak evil of the project. Now, same folks are here to praise Egypt for spending $58billion on a new capital city.

They like the massive buildings and infrastructure in other countries but they condemn same in Nigeria. Peter Obi the poster child of the hate filled opposition did not build a single classroom when he was governor for 8 years. There is no single legacy infrastructure to his name. In fact, Soludo just finished building the first general hospital in Onitsha this year. Yet, that kind of shallow mind is being projected as the messiah of Nigeria 🤣🤣🤣
Well done oh. I didnt know Peter Obi had supporters at the time of the commencement of Eko Atlantic City, 17 years ago in 2008.
Please you people should get tired of this one dimensional focus on PO and the East. They are not the only critics of the government in this country. Is it even possible that critics only exist in one tribe?

We had a chance to do much better than we did in Abuja, starting a new city from scratch is always a chance for real resplendence. Abuja is not over though, and has much room for almost anything to still be done in future.

Stop lying. Stop spewing ignorance. This is being started by Trump.
BTW what do you mean by the bold? Tarriffs are normal and have always existed except where you have free trade areas. The issue at hand is about arbitrary increases in tarrfiffs and that is being initiated by Trump and not the EU.

Pls I need clarification
How can a country that slams upto a 50% tariff on US imported goods be crying fowl that the US retaliated by imposing half(25%) of what those countries slammed on them.

Pls economist help
Trump is not retaliating against anyone, he is the one starting this where there was no problem, rather its others that will retaliate against the USA. Think of it, which country in the world do you think will start a trade war with the USA? NONE.

This is all Trump and his egoistic foolishness.

the contractors were much smaller than him, and did not have the resources for a sustained fight in the courts

trump is taking that attitude, a win lose attitude to the world stage - forgetting that the us is not the only game in town
Its just terrible. What sickens me most is watching people swoon and masturbate over him as though he is the best thing since sliced bread. It annoys me more when black people do this, because they of all people should be sensitive to his racism. It annoys me most when Nigerians do this, because they of all people should have a clue that he will regard them as sub human.

The worst aspect is that he doesnt even understand how tariffs work. A person who came to office pledging to fight inflation is flinging tariffs around when clearly that will lead to a spike in prices and the impact will fall on American consumers.

Ok no problem

Which tribe is calling Tinubu amoda ogunlere?

Once u can answer that then no problem
Please and please. It does not matter. Fact is that people from ALL tribes (the President's inclusive) criticize the government. Just as you will find support for him from all tribes. It is ridiculous how you guys have made a culture of referring to every critic as Igbo. Thats nonsense.

And the reason I call you a teenager (perhaps you are in your early twenties max) is because I honestly think this is a GEN-Z thing and its everywhere. The entire forum has become diseased with it. With the way National Assembly is currently constituted, if Tinubu wants third term (perhaps emboldened by Trump's third term rhetorics)
do you think anybody can stop him?
Great question.

Current NASS will approve a third term for sure if the President wants it.
However it also has to be approved by two thirds of the state houses of assembly.
