Yeah but European Americans are not called the indigenous people.

That's the red Indians are the indeginous people of America. Nobody will call trump Biden or any white American indeginous.
Yes but after the length of period they have been there, no one will possibly question their right to be there.

Muslim ruled Spain. Are they indeginous to Spain?

Fulani ruled and still rule in some parts of Nigeria. Are they the indeginous people?

Britain ruled India. The Brits are indeginous to India right?

The only Moslem that is indeginous to the land of Israel is a Moslem of Jewish descent.
The real question is not about rule but this -

DeepSight:
How long is a group required to dwell in a place before being considered indigenous thereto?
Muslims have been in Palestine for about a thousand years now.

If Europeans who have been in America for less than half of that time are considered perfectly American, what are we saying?

Exactly. Now imagine the oil boom happened under a regional govt. The Eastern region will be better for it. The ijaws will still see the Igbo as parasites. The north will still remain poor. And since the central govt was run by the North, they might have deliberately sabotaged the oil windfall since they were not gaining anything from it!
My point is that the oil boom reached a crescendo because the military govts usually don't dilly dally on issues. A decision is made and followed through. You heard what the Total CEO said recently about Nigeria?
Indeed, but as I said there are a gazillion ways to design and redesign it.

But you can see what I said about a lot of people not well informed but just parroting regionalism cause it sounds cool. The northern region was poor. The Eastern region basically lived off the wealth of the SS which led to agitations for an independent Ijaw state. The Midwest thought the far West were cheating them. I can go on. I'm thinking of opening a thread on it. The more I dig deep, regionalism never worked. Nigeria reached its crescendo in terms of development in the 70s and regionalism was dead by then.
But that was not due to any particular structure that was the seventies oil boom.

Kukutente23:
Lol. You actually think so? Why didn't the regions develop those potentials from 1954 to 1966?
That was how trade existed bergen between the north and south in colonial times especially for imports and exports. Besides, if a scenario occurs that the NW prefers to export goods via Benin Republic which statistics show is cheaper than exporting via Lagos, will that be allowed in your system?
Like I said, those advocates of regionalism are just jumping blindly into it just like the national anthem issue too. Let's do an indepth research from both economic and political angle and let's see what the results say before we just assume. There's too much assumption about regionalism
Fair enough, but still beg to disagree, based on economies of scale and the whole being more than the sum of the parts. Nevertheless Ride on Baba, I dey gbadun you generally.

1. US does not have regions. US actually have states. States is not a matter of population but the system of govt.
2. UK does not have regions as well. UK has cities and boroughs which make up each country within it. Each country is independent and are united by choice not by law.
iii. As I've been saying, youths today are poor students of history. Regionalism never solved the local govt issues you're pointing at. In fact, within the regions, there were agitations and cries of marginalisation.
4. Boko Haram is not a local govt issue. A local govt anywhere in the world cannot be equipped to fight a terrorist group that went as far as Mauritius to train its men and got weapons from Libya.
5. If states are not viable, what makes you think LGs are viable?
I wondered at his thinking as per point number five.

Politics › Re: Reps Disown Trending Draft Bill Seeking Return To Regional Government by DeepSight(m): 12:16pm On Jun 01, 2024
Kukutente23:
Is regionalism an economic solution or a political solution? Cause if you're looking at it from the point of economy, given our present realities, it's even worse.
Presently, we have six regions not the three we had in the 60s. Out of the six only two are viable at least based on statistics i.e. SS and SW. The rest are seriously lagging behind in terms of development.
On the other hand, if we say we embrace regionalism as an economic solution, what do you think will be the economic potential of the north central? North East nko? If the northern regions want to export, will they pay the Southern regions for export and imports or will it be the other way round? I can tell you boldly that in terms of economy, this present structure is better off. The larger an economic unit, the more complex it is solving its economic questions especially if the unit is resource dependent like we are.
Beg to disagree. Each region has many untapped resources and potentials and weaning them off crude oil can force them to explore their potentials. Also, no, we neednt impose a scenario where regions have to pay one another for mere right of passage, that is extreme. Freedom of trade and movement will remain. Its all about the way in which we structure the details, of which there are a gazillion options to choose from.

It is important to note that Regionalism doesnt mean confederacy as you appear to be reading it. It also neednt imply that ALL resources are automaically owned by the regions. As I said, there are a gazillion ways to figure it out.

@LegendHero, I told you the bill was fake. Know this and know peace. Tinubu will NOT revert Nigeria to regionalism. Stop giving yourself false hope of Tinubu is strong and has balls. He has his limits and he knows it.

Besides that, I don't get all the fuss about regionalism. A factual analysis of events in the period when regionalism held sway will reveal that it did not work. You lots are advocating for it based on tribal sentiments and not national integration. There's no superior principle behind call for regionalism beyond a false or even zero sense of history and a belief it will give you security from "invaders".
Regionalism never worked.
Beg to disagree bro. Many states are not even viable entities by themselves so far. Regionalism can provide the "broad shoulders" for each province to aggregate its collctive resources in a more meaningful way. Each region in Nigeria will be as wealthy as most larger sub-saharan countries with some being even wealthier. That will also provide a truer federalism which will unleash economies of scale.

APC online thugs have been at it since 2011. That's over ten years. Quit the stupid lies dimwit
The two attachments to this post of yours disclose what I have since come to accept as a default sacred rule amoung human beings which can be summarized in these principles:

1. If I do something wrong its okay but if you do the same, it's haram
2. What is sauce for the goose is NOT sauce for the gander
3. Do as I say, NOT as I do
4. When a nine or six is written on the ground, it can be either depending on where I am standing - but NEVER on where you are standing
5. Everything I do has rational reasonable grounds and triggers, but everything you do is likely a result of your inherent evil nature

If you understand these simple rules of humanity, you will see them in practice EVERYWHERE including in your own home.

That easiest kick in football has cost people and teams glories, trophies and money just because they failed to put the ball at the back of the net.
If it’s easy for one person and many others are failing at it, then give that person his dough for being different. If it’s that easy, then everybody should be scoring it very easily. What you football novice call tapin is actually apt positioning skill and it’s something smart people like Ronaldo, Aubameyang, Erling Haaland and even Lukaku do because they are always at the right place at the right time.

That's another lie we believe in again. Are we really that successful outside Nigeria like the rest of the world who migrates?
In the West, the Asian are courted more. Nigerians are more into the lowest cadre of jobs eg care jobs in uk. You will hardly see a chinese doing care job in uk yet they the highest immigrants. South Africans don't do that. Cos we can't get other better positions. Nigerians come in to study nonsense and expect to get good jobs. In IT, they are nowhere, health they are still not there. We are actually at the bottom of the ladder everywhere. Just very few that made it. Let's be truthful. When we change money, it looks like we have something but health inequality indices places us as those under protected characteristics and disparities. Black people are mentioned and we being the most populous tells a lot
I dont think this assessment is true or correct. It is also extreme in the negative. Even if you wish to argue that we are not as successful as one may think, the truth is that we are no where as unsuccessful as a diaspora group as you have painted. This alone shows your assessment to be off by some negative bias.

A few addittional points -

1. South Africa doesnt have a diaspora at all. They are not really a travelling people.
2. Asians are into all sorts of odd jobs as well - including the lowliest and meanest
3. Nigerian I.T and medical professionals are all over the place contrary to what you say - and as a matter of fact there is scarecly a field in which you will not find Nigerians excelling in the diaspora.

Nigeria has a potent diaspora.

I dont think its an I.Q problem. Not only are we fabulously successful in every walk of life in the diaspora - even the most technical, be it neuroscience, space technology, finance, medicine, law, just name it - but even our fraudsters display high I.Q in their frauds. Its not a want of I.Q.

Its something deeply rooted in our primal pschological nature. The clannishness which inspires tribalism. The inferiority complex which inspires worship of the white man and his ways and religions. The instilled enslavement which inpsires the stockholm syndrome worship of oppresssors.
