Modupe just made an argument for it, several Christians on NL have made arguments for it.
1 x 1 x 1 = 1 Can never be an argument for the Trinity as it operates correct for any amount of "1"s which you may choose to multiply.

Thus: 1 x 1 = 1; so why not a duality, and not trinity?

1 X 1 X 1 X 1 = 1; SO WHY NOT A QUADRAPULARITY?

1 X 1 X 1 X 1 X 1 X 1 = 1; So why not a sextupularity?

Krayola:
According to your post they claimed it was handed down from the apostles. Were u there? How do you know it wasn't? Prove that it wasn't.  grin
Here are the quotes of the apostles:

1Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Acts 2:22 - “Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.”

Acts 2:36: “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

There. So which "Apostles" handed down the Trinity?

Go back and read the hideous insertion in 1 Jn 5 v 7 (KJV) and see how biblical archaelogy led to the removal of those words from all modern versions of the Bible as they were discovered to be a deliberate insertion not contaned in the Original text.

Krayola, you make it appear a sin to point out this INDISPUTABLE FACT to the Trinitarians?

Krayola:
Your cosmological argument and the Trinity fall in the same category IMO. Thats all I'm saying.
There we go! Is the Trinity an argument? A discourse based on reason? No, it is a dogmatic statement of faith.

The Cosmological Argument is a discourse based on reason: which is exactly why it can be debunked based on reason.

You cannot debunk the Trinity based on reason; since it is a statement of faith.

Arguments (Cosmological or whatever) are always welcome.

Hope you see the difference.

How are those different from the trinity? they seem just as ridiculous to moi. . .  grin And they were all made up by "theologians and pholodophers" trying hard to show that God exists. I can see it has long been your position that once ANY MAN subcribes to ANY belief, then HE CANNOT view ANY belief in existence, as wrong, or misguided.

Arguments for the existence of God are just that: Arguments. The very fact that it remains an argument means it is an open discussion still. I may advance my philosophy, which you may rebutt. That's fair game. What does that have to do with dogma? How should that prevent me from seeing an absurd doctrine elsewhere and criticising it? Why are you attempting to demonise criticism when you are yourself a critic? Everyone is entitled to his/ her view!

According to your statement above; there is no reason why any one of us should dare criticise the followers of Olumba Olumba Obu who declare him to be the Alpha & Omega.

Simply because we have dared to proffer arguments for the existence of an intelligent prime mover, we must now be shackled into silence whenever ANY dogma is bandied about, no matter how absurd?

Look again at my post. I extracted historical facts to make a simple point: that we hold as sacrosanct that which men like ourselves sat and debated upon and concluded as a creed.

What is wrong with the extractions from History, Krayola? Are they inaccurate? Would you foist silence upon me?

And for extracting that little bit of history, you have concluded that i am an "Olodo," or influenced by "Olodos."

So there: you are doing exactly what you will not have me do - criticizing my view point, even insulting me for it, when all i did was dig up one historical fact of a council that sat at Nicea hundreds of years ago.

Do you subscribe to Free Speech, Krayola?

Krayola:

Christianity Etc › Re: The Fallacious Christian Mathematics by DeepSight(m): 12:53pm On Nov 10, 2009
Let me try some illumination.

The doctrine of the Trinity was decided upon at the Council of Nicea, which was presided over by Constantine, the Holy Roman Emperor.

This is what the Council was about:

Overview
The First Council of Nicaea is commonly regarded to have been the first Ecumenical council of the Christian Church. Most significantly, it resulted in the first uniform Christian doctrine, called the Creed of Nicaea. With the creation of the creed, a precedent was established for subsequent general (ecumenical) councils of Bishops (Synods) to create statements of belief and canons of doctrinal orthodoxy— the intent being to define unity of beliefs for the whole of Christendom. The council did not invent the doctrine of the deity of Christ. [2] Instead, the council affirmed and defined what it had found to be the teachings of the Apostles regarding who Christ is; that Christ is the one true God in Deity with the Father.

Derived from Greek oikoumenikos, "ecumenical" literally means "worldwide" but generally is assumed to be limited to the Roman Empire, as in Augustus' claim to be ruler of the oikoumene/world; the earliest extant uses of the term for a council are Eusebius' Life of Constantine 3.6[3] around 338 "σύνοδον οἰκουμενικὴν συνεκρότει" (he convoked an Ecumenical council), Athanasius' Ad Afros Epistola Synodica in 369,[4] and the Letter in 382 to Pope Damasus I and the Latin bishops from the First Council of Constantinople.[5]

The purpose of the council was to resolve disagreements arising from within the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was the literal son of God or was he a figurative son, like the other "sons of God" in the Bible. St. Alexander of Alexandria and Athanasius took the first position; the popular presbyter Arius, from whom the term Arian controversy comes, took the second. The council decided against the Arians overwhelmingly (of the estimated 250–318 attendees, all but two voted against Arius[6]).
And this was the main issue in contention:

ARIAN CONTROVERSY
The Arian controversy was a Christological dispute that began in Alexandria between the followers of Arius (the Arians) and the followers of St. Alexander of Alexandria (now known as Homoousians). Alexander and his followers believed that the Son was of the same substance as the Father, co-eternal with him. The Arians believed that they were different and that the Son, though he may be the most perfect of creations, was only a creation of God the Father. A third group (now known as Homoiousians) later tried to make a compromise position, saying that the Father and the Son were of similar substance.[23]

Much of the debate hinged on the difference between being "born" or "created" and being "begotten". Arians saw these as the same; followers of Alexander did not. Indeed, the exact meaning of many of the words used in the debates at Nicaea were still unclear to speakers of other languages. Greek words like "essence" (ousia), "substance" (hypostasis), "nature" (physis), "person" (prosopon) bore a variety of meanings drawn from pre-Christian philosophers, which could not but entail misunderstandings until they were cleared up. The word homoousia, in particular, was initially disliked by many bishops because of its associations with Gnostic heretics (who used it in their theology), and because it had been condemned at the 264–268 Synods of Antioch.

Homoousians believed that to follow the Arian view destroyed the unity of the Godhead, and made the Son unequal to the Father, in contravention of the Scriptures ("The Father and I are one", John 10:30). Arians, on the other hand, believed that since God the Father created the Son, he must have emanated from the Father, and thus be lesser than the Father, in that the Father is eternal, but the Son was created afterward and, thus, is not eternal. The Arians likewise appealed to Scripture, quoting verses such as John 14:28: "the Father is greater than I". Homoousians countered the Arians' argument, saying that the Father's fatherhood, like all of his attributes, is eternal. Thus, the Father was always a father, and that the Son, therefore, always existed with him.

The Council declared that the Father and the Son are of the same substance and are co-eternal, basing the declaration in the claim that this was a formulation of traditional Christian belief handed down from the Apostles. This belief was expressed in the Nicene Creed.
Thus leading to the formation of the Nicene Creed in this manner -

For Bishop Alexander and others, however, greater clarity was required. Some distinctive elements in the Nicene Creed, perhaps from the hand of Hosius of Cordova, were added.

1.Jesus Christ is described as "God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God," proclaiming his divinity. When all light sources were natural, the essence of light was considered to be identical, regardless of its form.
2.Jesus Christ is said to be "begotten, not made", asserting his co-eternalness with God, and confirming it by stating his role in the Creation. Basically, they were saying that Jesus was God, and God's son, not a creation of God. This is considered one of the mysteries of the catholic church.
3.Finally, he is said to be "from the substance of the Father," in direct opposition to Arianism. Eusebius of Caesarea ascribes the term homoousios, or consubstantial, i.e., "of the same substance" (of the Father), to Constantine who, on this particular point, may have chosen to exercise his authority.
*All extracts from Wikipedia

So you can see for yourself.

Prior to this time, the Trinity was not consensual church dogma, and was certainly never taught by Christ, who severally indicated that he had a  God, Almighty God, who he worshipped just like the rest of us do/ should.

It is no surprise therefore, that the word "Trinity" does not appear in the bible, and that previous attempts to smuggle the doctrine into the Bible (See KJV 1 Jn 5: 7) - HAVE BEEN EXPUNGED FROM ALL MODERN VERSIONS OF THE BIBLE BECAUSE THE DISCOVERY OF OLDER MANUSCRIPTS SHOWED THAT IT WAS NOT A PART OF THE EARLIEST VERSIONS!

Thus fanatical christians who cling rigidly to the trinity doctrine to my mind display a mis-education in History, just as surely as they would not accept the obvious fact that without the decisions at Nicea, they would not be trumpeting the "Jesus is God" idea about today.

Jakumo:
Sir, I do apologise for my parent's inability to fund my education beyond the kindergarten level, and I would certainly be most grateful for any donations you might be kind enough to allocate towards my enlightenment, so that I will at least know which way up to hold the EFCC  documentation when I do finally muster the courage to attempt reading it.

While I await this kind gesture, may I remind you that Nigeria's EFCC anti-corruption agency is empowered to investigate and prosecute ALL crimes which generate financial returns for outlaws, ranging from the embezzlement of state funds by venal officials, to drug running, extortion and advanced fee 419 fraud, Nigeria's trademark felony.

Bank fraud is only a subset of the entire gambit of illegality that thrives in Nigeria, consuming the place alive, and so preserving the country's well-earned reputation as a squalid haven of industrial scale criminality.  The EFCC happens to be the agency empowered by the Nigerian government to investigate AND PROSECUTE treasury looters AS WELL AS bank looters, among sundry other sleaze-bags, and that legal process requires generous funding to effectively pursue.   Such requisite financial muscle is best extracted from the deep pockets of the felons being nailed, therefore whatever percentage of stolen money that is appropriated for that endeavor by the cops will by definition leave FAR more change in public coffers than the ZERO dollars that would have been left if the criminals evaded all prosecution initiatives and were left free to hide the swag as they see fit.

There is, without doubt, a direct correlation and functional equivalence between the US Drug Enforcement Agency and Nigeria's EFCC corruption pit bull, no matter how depressing that comparison may seem to you. May I suggest you sit down for a stiff drink or two, if you happen to suspect that the EFCC is about to drop the hammer on you, for that, regrettably, is about the only measure that will make the slightest difference when the men in red coats come knocking.
My God! This is literature at its best! Hats off to you, for a fabulous riposte to my scathing words.

Fabulous in style, but not yet in content, i'm afraid.

Permit  me to apologize for my abrasive words. If you will take a moment to look through my post history, you will find it alien to my culture. At the moment when i read your post, i felt assailed by the very culture of impunity which has rendered Nigeria what it is today. Thus my hasty and abusive reaction, for which i apologize unreservedly.

Nevertheless i could not disagree with you more.

I happen to be a legal practitoner. Let me make a few initial observations on the law in this regard.

First off: The law makes a clear distinction between civil matters and criminal matters. Debt, legally and historically, is emphatically a civil matter. Indeed there is a plethora of case-law in this regard: and it has oft been repeated by the superior courts in Nigeria that no law enforcement agency is authourised to act as a debt recovery agency.

This is cardinal because you might note that Nigeria is a particularly lawless realm where influential people (and not-so influential people) repeatedly use the instruments of state to settle personal scores.

Debt could only be criminalized where it becomes apparent that there is an element of decisive fraud inherent in the transaction: such as evidence which shows that the debtor took the loan perhaps with fraudulent credentials and/ or without any intention to repay whatsoever.

Given the fact that most of the loans complained about by the CBN were being serviced to some degree (albeit sporadically/ insufficiently) it is difficult to make a case that the majority were loans in which there was no intention ab-initio, to repay.

Now bad loans are a global phenomenon. Check out the credit crisis that assailed the western world within the last two years. I can scarecly recall anybody being hounded off to jail in the midst of that crisis: bank executives or loan defaulters. The matter was treated as what it was:  a civil economic relapse which needed strong regulatory intervention.

Thus the point cannot be over-emphasised; that the EFCC has absolutely no legal basis for transforming itself into a debt recovery agency. As i have explained, defaulting on a loan is not a crime; calculated theft of loaned monies is what is. You can scarely claim that someone like Aliko Dangote, whose name was among the loan defaulters list issued by the CBN, was pepertrating any fraud thereby? This is a multi-billion enterprise bussinessman, whose regular business (just like anywhere in the world) must necessarily be serviced by debt. Accordingly, his outstandings in terms of loans remain a civil affair, and the law provides civil judicial processes for pursuing the recovery of such sums, processes which if pursued, can be very drastic and unforgiving, leading even up to seizure of assets, etc.

But given our fire-brigade/ motor-park-tout approach to things in Nigeria, we choose to ignore such procedures, thereby retarding the entrenchment of institutions in this country. And this country is sorely missing credible institutions.

So get that straight: The EFCC had no right whatsoever to jump around like drunken-clown chasing debtors all over the place like a hired goon. That was frankly illegal. And comical.

Now if the Agency had no right to do this, how dare it retain a commission thereon?

Whose money is this? Again i return to your analogy concerning the DEA. I needn't expend energy debunking that again: Drug money is paid by syndicates or drug users to Drug Barons, traders or syndicates. Every person along the chain is involved in an illegality: the funds thereon are derived from a chain of illicit users and are accordingly monies that should rightly be confiscated by the state.  My money in Zenith Bank on the other hand, is my hard earned sweat: if its been given out as a bad loan, i expect that the civil judicial process should be activated to recover it. Under no circumstances should the Police (EFCC) transform themselves into a Debt Collection Agency and (without consensual agreement) SEIZE a portion of my money. It's hooliganism and lawlessness at its best, if it actually happened.

Back to the law. Under the Constitution of the Federal Republic ALL publicly earned funds revert automatically to the Consolidated Revenue Fund and must be appropriated by the Parliament before disbursement and expenditure. ONLY government agencies specifically authourized to retain earned monies are permitted to do so. The EFCC must therefore indicate what authourity it has to retain earned public funds (remember that this is a manifestly illegal "earning" anyhow).

I am not sure that i need go further. I will only ask you one question: If we continue like this, what happens to our Civil Judicial Processes? What happens to our institutions?

Hats off again sha, to ya great writing skills.

Jakumo:
Once intercepted, the proceeds of crime are best deployed to fight crime, conveniently lightening the burden on state resources. This pragmatic philosophy is exemplified by the way the US Drug Enforcement Agency retains a HUGE chunk of the raw cash and asset forfeiture income accrued from narcotics busts, to further the cause of apprehending and neutralizing narco-cowboys, whose insidious products and violent conduct so poison societies.

Providing that the innocent are never framed, Nigeria's FCC Fraud Squad deserves to keep a full 50% of the embezzled loot they trace and seize, so that more advanced surveillance technology, vehicles and weapons can be procured to tip the scales in the favor of the victimized majority, by facilitating the investigation, pursuit and brutal sanction of all those who plunder national wealth in ways that indirectly inflict so many more casualties than could ever be claimed by a mere substance abuse epidemic.
You are a crass illiterate. I don't have the energy to expatiate. Just go and read the EFCC Act, and understand what they have powers to do and what they do not have powers to do. Note that the EFCC is never authourized to act as a debt collection agency.

Your example about the DEA in the USA is flawed. Criminal proceeds such as Drug money cannot be returned to the criminals. However loans are legitimate funds that belong to the shareholders and depositors of banks, and should be returned to them. Skimming 10% off is as corrupt as it gets, especially when done by an agency that has no legal powers to act as such.

At this point before proceeding, it might be useful to reproduce a summary of the Five Proofs of the Existence of God offered by St. Thomas Aquinas:

The Argument of the Unmoved Mover
The argument of the unmoved mover, or ex motu, tries to explain that God must be the cause of motion in the universe. It is therefore a form of the cosmological argument. It goes thus:

Some things are moved.
Everything that is moving is moved by a mover.
An infinite regress of movers is impossible.
Therefore, there is an unmoved mover from whom all motion proceeds.
This mover is what we call God.

The Argument of the First Cause
The argument of the first cause (ex causa), tries, unlike the argument of the Unmoved Mover, to prove that God must have been the cause, or the creator of the universe. It is therefore another form of the cosmological argument. It goes thus:

Some things are caused.
Everything that is caused is caused by something else.
An infinite regress of causation is impossible.
Therefore, there must be an uncaused cause of all that is caused.
This causer is what we call God.

The Argument from Contingency
The argument from contingency (ex contingentia):

Many things in the universe may either exist or not exist. Such things are called contingent beings.
It is impossible for everything in the universe to be contingent, for then there would be a time when nothing existed, and so nothing would exist now, since there would be nothing to bring anything into existence, which is clearly false.
Therefore, there must be a necessary being whose existence is not contingent on any other being or beings.
This being is whom we call God.

The Argument from Degree
The argument from degree or gradation (ex gradu). It is heavily based upon the teachings of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. It goes thus :

Varying perfections of varying degrees may be found throughout the universe.
These degrees assume the existence of an ultimate standard of perfection.
Therefore, perfection must have a pinnacle.
This pinnacle is whom we call God

The Teleological Argument
The teleological argument or argument of "design" (ex fine), which claims that everything in the Universe has a purpose, which must have been caused by God:

All natural bodies in the world act toward ends.
These objects are in themselves unintelligent.
Acting toward an end is characteristic of intelligence.
Therefore, there exists an intelligent being that guides all natural bodies toward their ends.
This being is whom we call God.

Christianity Etc › Re: Viaro Bares It All - His views on Religion. by DeepSight(m): 11:55pm On Nov 07, 2009
If i may interject here.

First on God and Creation (raised above by Chris - You all know this to be my favourite subject); and next on the authourship of the gospels.

I was watching one of my favourite channels earlier today (Nat Geo Wild) and a haunting set of scenes of fabulous creatures and unspeakably beautiful landscapes caught my attention. It occured to me in respect of our endless discussions on the existence of God that some people can look at the world around them, and immediately perceive that there is "something more" to all this wonder. They do not need Deep Sights mathematical (or incoherent?)deductions to perceive that.

Some others cannot perceive that there needs to be "anything more" to all this. For me personally, that is quite difficult to digest, given that a meaningless collective existence will be the direct and natural result of a reality founded on a quality such as chance for example.

Nevertheless that is going too far: let me simply state in very native terms that when a child comes upon a pot of soup even within an empty and abandoned space such as a desert, most children will conclude that it was cooked by somebody: a few stubborn or flighty ones may insist that it did not need a cook to exist. As far fetched as it may be to state such, it is not as far fetched as stating that it did not have a reason or purpose for existing. In very crude terms, this is the "Atheists Riddle." The law of Cause and Effect.

It beggars belief that the Atheist is yet to apprehend the philosophical issue contained in this simple question: why does anything exist at all? Why not non-existence? Why existence as opposed to non-existence?

Again they fail to grasp the fact that the very fact of existence, must presuppose purpose or a meaning of something, and therefore of all things.

But i apologise Chris. I needn't have gone into all this again. You know the subject is too tempting for me, but let me leave off for now.

VIARO: On the authourship of the gospels: could it be useful to consider the likely dates of such authourship and juxtapose this against the likely age of such apostles at that time? Also a consideration of the literary styles? See this Wiki Extract -

A gospel (from Old English, gōd spell "good news"wink is a writing that describes the life of Jesus. The word is primarily used to refer to the four canonical gospels: the Gospel of Matthew, Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Luke and Gospel of John, probably written between AD 65 and 80. [1][2] They appear to have been originally untitled; they were quoted anonymously in the first half of the second century (i.e. 100 - 150) but the names by which they are currently known appear suddenly around the year 180.[3]

The first canonical gospel written is thought by most scholars to be Mark (c 65-70), which was according to the majority used as a source for the gospels of Matthew and Luke.[2] In modern source criticism, Matthew and Luke are generally thought to have used a common source, the Q document,[2] These first three gospels are called the synoptic gospels because they share similar incidents, teachings, and even much language.[2] The last gospel, the Gospel of John, presents a very different picture of Jesus and his ministry from the synoptics.[2] In differentiating history from invention, historians interpret the gospel accounts skeptically.[4] The synoptic evangelists demonstrated reserve in altering or inventing stories about Jesus, and historians regard the synoptic gospels as including significant amounts of historically reliable information about Jesus.[4] Scholars[who?] maintain that the gospels and all the books of the New Testament were written in Greek, see also Greek primacy.

The synoptic gospels are the source of many popular stories, parables, and sermons, such as Jesus' humble birth in Bethlehem, the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, the Last Supper, and the Great Commission. John provides a theological description of Jesus as the eternal Word, the unique savior of humanity. All four attest to his Sonship, miraculous power, crucifixion, and resurrection. Portions of the gospels are traditionally read aloud during church services as a formal part of the liturgy.

More generally, gospels compose a genre of early Christian literature.[5] Gospels that did not become canonical likely also circulated in early Christianity. Some, such as the Gospel of Thomas, lack the narrative framework typical of a gospel.[6] These gospels appeared later than the canonical gospels, and in the case of Thomas, after the Bible was officially cannonized.

Origin of the canonical gospels

The dominant view today is that Mark is the first Gospel, with Matthew and Luke borrowing passages both from that Gospel and from at least one other common source, lost to history, termed by scholars 'Q' (from German: Quelle, meaning "source"wink. This view is known as the "Two-Source Hypothesis". [10].John was written last and shares little with the synoptic gospels.

The gospels were apparently composed in stages. Mark's traditional ending (Mark 16:9-20) was most likely composed early in the second century and appended to Mark in the middle of that century.[11] The birth and infancy narratives apparently developed late in the tradition.[12] Luke and Matthew may have originally appeared without their first two chapters.[12]

The general consensus among biblical scholars is that all four canonical gospels were originally written in Greek, the lingua franca of the Roman Orient.

Dating
Estimates for the dates when the canonical gospel accounts were written vary significantly; and the evidence for any of the dates is scanty. Because the earliest surviving complete copies of the gospels date to the 4th century and because only fragments and quotations exist before that, scholars use higher criticism to propose likely ranges of dates for the original gospel autographs. Scholars variously assess the consensus or majority view as follows:

Mark: c. 68–73,[13] c 65-70[2]
Matthew: c. 70–100.[13] c 80-85.[2] Some conservative scholars argue for a pre-70 date, particularly those that do not accept Mark as the first gospel written.
Luke: c. 80–100, with most arguing for somewhere around 85,[13], c 80-85[2]
John: c 90-100,[2] c. 90–110,[14] The majority view is that it was written in stages, so there was no one date of composition.

davidylan:
what is the point of all these long long boring threads that are long on pretended "scholarship" but really leave the reader wondering what the thread is meant to say?
David, why do you waste so much time on threads you consider boring, and a waste of time?

Just ignore us, and leave us to our fallacies. Your thesis needs your time, i am sure.

We, of course, are aware that the definition of an interesting thread will be one in which we all accept God as being into ritual human sacrifice (Golgotha).

Strange thing is - if we all accepted your dogma, life would be boring for your o so combative soul, wouldn't it?

Ain't life interesting!

Easylogic! Ther eyou are again! Brilliant surmise as always from you!

I think that is really a great question: why something instead of nothing?

Why all this wonder, why all this power, this majestic universe?

Maybe the atheists can reflect on that.

Time was started by the big bang and may have even began after the inflation of space
.

KAG - This is the statement that i had a problem with. I am aware that this is the standard proposition of current scientific thinking.

However you need to note carefully what i stated:

^^^^ @ KAG - What do you say to the following suggestions -

1. That the time you refer to as being created by the Big Bang simply refers to measurable time as per the finite human mind? And not the totality of time itself, which is infinite, and cannot cease to be.

2. What if at this very second, as we speak, another big bang is going off outside our universe, bringing another universe into being? Do you not see the possibility that our Universe is existing within an already existing larger "Space" and that every new "bang" that occurs is a bang within already existent time and space? To crystalize this for you: Let's imagine a civilization on a far off planet within this universe that was so primitive that they thought that their galaxy was all there was to the universe. For them, they would imagine time began when their galaxy was formed. They would not realize that their galaxy was just one within a universe already existing in a steady state of time! So i ask you: what if our universe is just like that: existing within ONE larger MULTIVERSE! If that is the case, surely, time could not be said to be created by the bang that made this universe. Rather, time would be an already existing steady state..
Does the idea of infinite time mean anything to you as opposed to the idea of finite time (your big-bang-time).

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all travel back in time to witness the events of the first century ourselves and resolve all arguments!

Wwe could view the tower of babel, noah's flood (huh), the parting of the red sea, etc. . .

Wwow, time travel could cement faith!

PASTOR - YOU ALMOST ESCAPED IT! YOUR STATEMENT ABOUT THE DEATH AND RESURECTION OCCURING IN ETERNITY - WHAT DID THAT MEAN?

Was it perhaps so that even aliens living in the 5th dimension can take advantage of the redemption on the cross . . .

Thank you. . *brashly hijacking the interiew from Chrisbenegor*

Let us start with reincarnation. Both John the Baptist and Jesus himself were approached with the question if they were Elijah.

Neither said "What?!! How is that possible?!!!" - or rejected the idea being put to them.

Jesus simply answered "no", and John evaded the question entirely by saying " i am the voice of one crying in the desert. . ."

Surely, this shows that both John and Jesus reckoned with the idea of reincarnation?

Wwhat say you?

Well, if you insist.

First off: please ignore all those insults some people on this thread directed at you and your sister. The one who talked about her being stoned to death in another milieu is really off his rockers. I was really shocked at that level of insensitivity (or insanity).

Listen, i must give it to you that you have advanced some excellent rebuttals of my propositions, but these are the ones i believe you have not oversome:

1. Balance in existence (Positive v. Negative)

2. The argument of anatomy.

3. The argument of justification of perversions.

4. The social-illogicality argument (i am just introducing this now)

I will take one at a time.

But before i start, please let's be clear on one thing: my aim is to show that homosexuality is unnatural. Not to condemn, discriminate, or inspire revulsion. Simple.

I start by defining the word "unnatural".

I use the Oxford's Advanced Learner's dictionary: Unnatural: "1. - Different from that which is normal or expected 2. Different from that occuring in nature"

Wow! I like love you guys for inviting a discussion, and I shall try and maintain some decorum! cheesy I wish many people can follow these examples from you guys.

Deep Sight, how can I thank you for not taking my rough side personally? I deeply appreciate that happy attitude you demonstrate. This one just blasted me to the floor in all laughter. . ROFL. .!! Please, Deep Sight, that was silly of me! Please, I'm begging and deeply regret that brashness on my part. sad grin

Now we can move on. . one step at a time.
^^^ No wahala! I felt i deserved it though!

Chris was really right, when he said this site does something to people. When i signed on, i was determined never to have a rough word for anybody - to be the epitome of decorum. In my early posts, you will see me trying to arbitrate disputes, begging people not to be abrasive.

I still keep to it, but i cant deny i have had my terrible moments, losing control and going for the jugular.

I always try to apologize though. I think that's the key.

Fire on, jaare!

Alrite: First off, i must say that this person: Viaro, is one of my favourite Nairalanders, calm, honest, patient, deep, thoughtful, and very polite (although once he catches you "yabbing" others, he could deal you a rough blow, as i just discovered in the thread for Davidylan and the deity of Christ).

Viaro, you are most welcome, and most appreciated!

My questions for you are:

 1. What do you make of the sacrifice on the cross. Redemption through that sacrifice.

 2. Are you of the view that non-christians may be saved.

 3. What do you make of the idea of re-incarnation.

4. Are you kind enough to share with us your denomination (if any)

Thanks.
