Krayola - i dont believe you have in any terms dealt with the necrophila argument: i seek to point out through it that the very arguments you use to defend homosexuality can be used to defend virtually all sexual perversions.

I bow out at this stage: my reason is that i sense that this is a touchy subject for you, given your sister's inclination.

Peace.

viaro:
Deep Sight, howdy?

I have problems - serious problems - with people who make such kinds of remarks. I may not know a dot about Yoruba creation legends - even so, I can respect people whose cultures and outlook on life are different from mine. Asserting that they are outlandish and laughable probably puts the asserter in very poor light, especially because he makes such assertions ignorantly as an outsider that knows absolutely nothing about such cultures and is not even willing to know!

Yes, I am an educated adult - and I subscribe to a worldview that did not originate from my culture. But who says that anyone has to adopt only those views that are local to them anyway? If anyone - including you - cannot understand why educated people can believe in 'God' differently from the way you mold a concept of your own 'god', then what would they make of your own 'singularity' that repeatedly cheats common sense and science, and yet remains as vague, valueless, vacantly assertive, vagrantly constructed, variegated, vociferous, and frequently volte-face?? Your outlandish remark about 'yoruba'  is an insensate attack on the Yoruba people - and that needs no telling to an adult, let alone an educated one!

You may not believe in the views of other people as regards God; but you should be cautious in the way you charge blindly at them for their beliefs especially when your own assertive constructs for your 'God' is unrecognizable. What is even more laughable is the way you try to take a swipe at others when you have never had a good grasp of your own deification of a non-existent "singularity". Please Deep Sight, I did not expect you to lower yourself to that level, and I hope with fingers crossed that a change of attitude would be on the horizon.
Point taken. But i need to clarify that my swipe was NOT at anything Yoruba, but at the trinity doctrine.

I understand that the Yoruba Myth talks about someone decending from heaven with a rope and a chicken and some sand. The chicken spread the sand about which became dry land, etc. Now it is clear that this is merely a folk tale, all i meant to state is that we modern Africans can see clearly that it is a folk-tale, whereas when equally outlandish tales are brought by foreigners, we accept them as inviolable truth.

I certainly did not intend to in any way speak ill of the yoruba, given that i am a core lagos-boy myself.

But Viaro, it will be a cold day in hell, before i respect the perception of any human being as being almighty God. Sounds to me like the claims of the followers of Olumba Olumba Obu, that he is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, almighty God.

P.S: God's existence is a deep and mysterious subject: its not surprising that someone like me who dares to approach and break it down in absorbable terms will sound absolutely incoherent to most listeners. I understand that.

Krayola:
Would you have liked to have had someone fukc your late father's corpse? Obviously a corpse can not give permission, but maybe a next of kin can. My point is that is is not your body to as as u please with. . .it is somebody elses. If a necrophiliac went to fukc a pillow, or sandpaper, that is his problem.

I'm making it personal because this is personal to me. As i have stated earlier, my younger sister, whom i love with all my heart, is a lesbian. She is not a deviant. She is a saint. Remove her sexual orientation and most people would love to have her as a daughter, or a wife, or a friend.

DO i think homosexuality is disgusting, of course I do. But that is my personal opinion. If 2 adults want to be together, what the fukc is your beef? Are they videotaping it and sending you a copy? You think u are superior. ,  that your views should shape the world. I beg to differ.
Krayola - following your logic - if a next of kin gives his permission to the necrophile, then the act would become acceptable? What if it is the next of kin that is the necrophile - he has full rights to the corpse, yes?

You have to face up to the fact that you have no tangible argument against necrophila.

And THAT shows that you are being every bit as dogmatic as you accuse me of being in this matter.

I repeat, necrophillia is acceptable because -

   1. Consent is not required: a dead body is not a living thing: if consent is required, it can be given by a next of kin.
   2. It is the peculiar nature of the necrophiliac to so desire lifeless bodies.
   3. Animals have been known to hump dead bodies.
   5. It harms no one: given that it is performed on an already dead person.

YOU CANNOT escape the the argument above. At the risk of incurring your wrath (or your mockery!) i will say. . . It is iron clad! cool

In conclusion you too are discriminating against necrophiles. On what grounds, if i may ask?

P.S. Might i suggest to you that your younger sister being lesbian has made your judgment in this matter biased. Note - i am sure she is a lovable person, i do not condemn her for one second, but i say that the practice remains unnatural, or a deviation.

Such closed-mindedness and braggadocio  is what led to the downfall of Sadducee and pharisees.  maybe we should start referring to you as deep sight PHD
Bawo - i absolutely apologize for that remark. You are right - it almost amounts to what i accused David of.

I must take it back unreservedly. In truth i was only trying to point out, in response to Krayola's statement that most of what i put forward is ripped to shreds, that perhaps the reason for that perception is the fact that we have vastly different backgrounds, mine being the library.

Nevertheless it was an idiotic remark on my part, i succumbed to temptation and i wholly regret it.

Once again, please pardon me.

I think rape is sexual perversion because of the lack of consent and the impact on the victim
I think necrophilia is sexual perversion because of the lack of consent, and just the fact that the body is fukn dead
I think paedophilia is sexual perversion because of the lack of consent and the impact on the victim, the child
Very good, thanks.

Let's start with necrophillia:

It is not a sexual perversion because -

  1. Consent is not required: a dead body is not a living thing: it might as well be a pillow.

  2. It is the peculiar nature of the necrophiliac to so desire lifeless bodies, and according to you we must NOT discriminate.

  3. Animals have been known to hump dead bodies, so it is natural. There is also a giant specie of spider that kills all its sexual partners without exception.

  4. You condemn it just because it is disgusting to you (same thing you accused me of, on homo-sexuality)

  5. It harms no one: given that it is performed on an already dead person.

SO HOW DARE YOU CALL IT UNNATURAL?

CAN YOU SEE THAT YOU ARE BEING JUST AS DOGMATIC AS YOU ACCUSE ME OF BEING? ? ? ? ?

Let me demonstrate the inanities that dogmas like the Trinity lead grown adults to indulge in:

Listen to this fellow:

Marlbron:
Lets be clear, The Godhead is made of 3 personalities: Father, Word and Spirit and they agree or they are one. I think you chew too much when you a mere man declares that the most important of the 3 cannot manifest, when the least has manifested (Jesus Christ).
Above he stated that Jesus is the "least" in the Trinity.

Then:, one second later he states -

Marlbron:
Father = God, Word = God, Spirit = God.

Strange equation, but true.
Thus declaring that they are all equal, happily contradicting himself.

And also happily contradicting the words of Jesus himself, who stated that the Father is greater than him (Jn 14:28).

I hope you can all see what a joke this doctrine is. It astonishes me that educated adults will subscribe to a foreign myth such as this which is by far more outlandish and laughable than the yoruba creation myth.

Let me remind you lot that there have been triads of gods and goddesses in pagan religions in Egypt, Persia, and many other places for thousands of years and these ideas infiltrated christianity.

Let me also remind you lot that it is cardinal attribute of cults to attempt to deify their founders, or ascribe divinity to their leaders.

Sorry guys, i have to step into the loo, i think i'm gonna throw up.

Disgusting!

And you still aint said anything on magnetism:

OR DO YOU DENY THAT MALE AND FEMALE ARE OPPOSITE ELEMENTS?

GO AHEAD AND DENY THAT THEY ARE, THAT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE.

FINALLY I STILL CHALLENGE YOU TO MENTION ANY SINGLE ACT THAT YOU REGARD AS A SEXUAL PERVERSION: OR ARE THERE NONE?

WHY HAVE YOU CONDEMNED THE PROPHET MOHAMMED FOR HIS PAEDOPHILA?

CAN IT NOT BE ARGUED THAT THAT IS NATURAL AS WELL?
Christianity Etc › Re: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by DeepSight(m): 2:27pm On Nov 05, 2009
There is no need to descend into insults on an academic argument. I believe rational points can nbe made on both sides.

Krayola: i concede you beat my vegetarian example-test with your points. Hats off to you for that, i guess i didn't think that one through.

Nevertheless, all the other points i have made, i still stand by.

On the animal front you cannot deny that THERE DOES NOT EXIST EVEN ONE SINGLE ANIMAL that desires exclusively members of its own sex. Hell, you cannot even prove any animal actually even has desire for its own sex at all.

The argument about anatomy and paedophilia, it appears you simply chose to skirt around.

And no, the philosophy on magnetism is not jargon, unless you deny that male and female are opposite elements. This, i know, is an iron clad argument.

Would you care to present me with any sexual behaviour that you regard as unnatural or condemnable. Please indulge me. Becuase i will surely use your very arguments here to prove to  you that such is absolutely normal.

To be honest, you can have whatever stance that you want on this issue, but denying that homosexuality is unnatural is nothing but self denial.

Christianity Etc › Re: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by DeepSight(m): 3:14am On Nov 05, 2009
B4 we proceed, accept that given my explanation above, that video above is meaningless.

Those are mindless acts of masturbation against ANY available object, and NOT evidence of animals who desire ONLY males such as themselves.

You know this.
Christianity Etc › Re: Could It Really Be That A Person Can Be Born Gay? by DeepSight(m): 3:07am On Nov 05, 2009
Oh please Krayola - dont be having a laugh!

That video is entirely meaningless, and i have explained why earlier on this thread.

I regurgitate my explanation:

Animals are not homosexual in the proper definition of the word. Let's watch the cases of so-called animal homosexuality. Do such cases have any co-relation with human homosexuality? I contend that they are entirely dissimilar. This is the reason:

Animals do not make a distinction regarding the object of their sexual attention with reference to instinctive physical motions. For example when my dog is on heat, he will attempt to mount anything at all: including humans. He will push himself against a pole, against me, and against other dogs (male or female) in excercising the instinctive sexual motion. He does not see and develop a desire for a fellow male, he only makes instinctive sexual motions directed at anything. This is significantly different from humans who will see and have specific desires for persons of the same sex. No animal will engage in homosexual conduct if there is an available female on hand, against which it may throw its instinctive physical motions, but human homosexuality will actively disdain the female and specifically desire the male.

If you appreciate the foregoing, you will understand that animals are not in fact homosexual at all - in the proper sense of the word. Do they have a homosexual desire? Can you show me even one single animal that ONLY sexually targets the same sex? You cannot, because animals are not homosexual in the definition of the word, and their so-called acts of homosexuality, comparatively speaking, are really just mindless acts of masturbation on any available entity.

Therefore, on either or both planks - the point must emphatically be made that animal acts of homosexuality can never be a premise for human homosexuality because as i have shown above, animals are not homosexual within the context of homosexual desire.

Deep Sight:
Panting from the the hectic dash, we move speedily along, avoiding delays and distractions, to the next proof. This one, i must concede, will take the form of an explanatory deduction, and not a pure mathematical argument. In this, we need to address a cardinal question:

Great. Let’s start from here. But before we kick off, let me regurgitate this –

Yes. Back to “the oneness of infinity.” Are there any problems envisaging this as a “hot capsule” of all possible infinite energy? Let us use a detailed analysis to understand this, so we are clear that we do not speak only of matter.

I started this thread with numeric postulations. This we understand to be a system of abstract quantification. The very word “abstract” indicates certainly the non-material. Thus we need to understand that this postulation starts in what philosophers call “the world of forms”.

Basically, for the beginner, the world of forms refers to the “ideas” of things existing. It is non-material, and abstract. (As we go along we will see that it is transcendent, and is the real “existence” which brings further or material existence into being.)

Thus to elucidate (contrary to the poorly informed view of Davidylan) numbers are abstract forms which exist in and by themselves within the world of forms. Man did not invent numbers. He invented symbols and words to ascribe to already existing quantities. For example, if man saw 9 planets around the sun, those planets have been 9 in number ever before man began to exist on Earth, but man required a way to articulate the quantity he was seeing – and in this he comes up with his own numeric system, the figure [9] and the word [nine]. But there were always nine [quantity] planets there already! Just as there were already x zillion galaxies in the universe, whether man was there to count them or not, or use the word "zillion" or not!

Numbers are an abstract form, an abstract reality that exists in the world of forms.

The reason I am dwelling on this is to show one thing – abstract realities can create energy, and further on, matter. Proof?

A crude example. What’s that thought in your head? Can you touch it? Feel it? Smell it? No – It is intangible, it is an abstract form, and this abstract form because it has meaning will lead to energy and action e.g: you get up to drink the beer in the fridge you have ben thinking about. This is a very crude and simple analogy, and I will strive to produce better ones as I go along. But to make a slightly better attempt, let me try another crude example. Let me ask – what is mental strength? Or what is called strength of mind? It is not muscle. It is not brain-cells either, as that may be tied with intelligence. It is not even synapses within the brain. It is nothing physical at all. It comes rather from the thoughts formed by the mind: e.g: I love my family and as such I will run into that burning building to save them even if I die or am maimed in the process. That is strength of mind. It does not come from anything physical, but from an abstract thought.

(Perhaps a finer example, which i will elaborate further upon at a later time, is music. Imagine all the un-sung or un-conceived tunes of music that can be. There are infinite. They are un-conceived as yet, yes? Wwhere will they be conceived from? Ideas - they exist permanently and immutable in the world of forms, and that will translate into conceived music at some point.)

Thus strength can be derived from abstraction. It therefore follows abstract realities, by the very nature of their abstraction are imbued with energy. I realize that this is a very “grandiose” assertion (apologies to Dususpace) which we may be light years away from confirming, but I am persuaded that a simple and calm reflection of the line of thinking, and looking closely at what we mean by an abstraction, along with the very crude analogies above, can serve to confirm this in our minds.

Yes guys, the abstract form of the number [1] is imbued with energy.

Now back to the Oneness of Infinity. I have already described above what that means.

Now what sort of energy would such a oneness of all infinity in existence exhibit. Clearly, it will exhibit infinite energy!

Thus we have the basis for energy being imbued within the oneness of all empty infinity.

Now with that in mind, let us take a look at our own universe. Are there any suggestions of an underlying pulsating energy which may be attributed to such?

Yes there is –

Dark Energy
From Wikipedia.
In physical cosmology, astronomy and celestial mechanics, dark energy is a hypothetical form of energy that permeates all of space and tends to increase the rate of expansion of the universe.[1] Dark energy is the most popular way to explain recent observations that the universe appears to be expanding at an accelerating rate. In the standard model of cosmology, dark energy currently accounts for 74% of the total mass-energy of the universe.[2]
Two proposed forms for dark energy are the cosmological constant, a constant energy density filling space homogeneously,[3] and scalar fields such as quintessence or moduli, dynamic quantities whose energy density can vary in time and space. Contributions from scalar fields that are constant in space are usually also included in the cosmological constant. The cosmological constant is physically equivalent to vacuum energy. Scalar fields which do change in space can be difficult to distinguish from a cosmological constant because the change may be extremely slow.
High-precision measurements of the expansion of the universe are required to understand how the expansion rate changes over time. In general relativity, the evolution of the expansion rate is parameterized by the cosmological equation of state. Measuring the equation of state of dark energy is one of the biggest efforts in observational cosmology today.
Adding the cosmological constant to cosmology's standard FLRW metric leads to the Lambda-CDM model, which has been referred to as the "standard model" of cosmology because of its precise agreement with observations. Dark energy has been used as a crucial ingredient in a recent attempt[4] to formulate a cyclic model for the universe.

What can we glean? The universe is pulsating with a constantly moving and unseen energy. As it expands outward, this energy cannot be quantified.

Let us return to the Big Bang.
Deep Sight:
>>>>It shows us that the universe began to expand from a point, a singularity.

We have seen that that singularity may be described as a oneness of all infinity. We have seen that it was imbued with, and was, a “hot capsule of infinite energy” as I stated before. We have seen that invisible energy continues to propel more than 70% of it.

We can accordingly deduce that the oneness of infinity imbued with infinite energy caused it to begin to expand from that singularity, and sustains it with invisible energy till date. This is what I call God, and as we go along will see why this infinite force is per force self conscious.
Nobody responded to these posts.

I take it then that no loop holes were found.

I will move speedily ahead to the next proof.

Deep Sight:
David, you are delivering a Master-class in Escapism! For Christ's sake, i quoted 12 verses for you in which the explicit and clear suggestion was made within the Bible that Jesus was not and is not, God. You are yet to address them!

David, I opened a thread for Noetic some time ago, asking him to explain why he thought only Christians would be "saved". Although he did not convince me, please visit that thread and see what a thorough, exhaustive, painstaking job he did in presenting his position, analysing the bible, and defending every article of his faith thereon.

See the link here - https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-336988.0.html

I charge you to STOP the escapism and address ALL my verses. This thread was opened for you to educate me on the meaning of those verses, and it hardly helps if rather than do that, you simply bring your own verses and demand that I explain them (which I did not shy away from doing, by the way!).

This is a strange approach, because I am not the Christian here, you are. So why are you giving me verses to explain? You should please explain the verses I quoted and stop the somersaults.

Here we go again:
If Jesus were God, why would he stop a man from calling him good, insisting - no - "only God is Good?" Did Jesus ("God"wink become less good by dint of being upon the earth?

Did the import of 1 Tim. 2:5 miss you when it states that “there is ONLY ONE GOD, and one mediator between God and men, the MAN Jesus Christ.”

What do you understand by the word “mediator”? Can you realistically claim that a mediator is the same person as one of the entities he is acting as a go-between for? You know that is frankly absurd.

Can you tell me if Jesus is equal to the Father. If he is, can you educate me on what he could possibly have meant when he stated : “The Father is greater than I” (John 14:28). You earlier answer, you well know, was the height of escapism, asking me to go read the whole chapter. . . which I have done anyway.

Most importantly, can you shed light on Jesus’ repeated references to “his God.” He clearly showed himself to be worshipping God, even praying to God on several occasions. Could God pray to God? Does this make sense to you David?

The most spectacular of all his prayers, for me, is the statement in Gethsemane – “Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt”

This statement shows something cardinal: if Jesus were God, as you lot like to claim, his will, and the will of the Father would be absolutely inseparable! This prayer shows clearly that the Father’s will could be different from Jesus’ will, when he says – “not as I will, but as thou wilt”. For me this is the most damning verse against the idea that Jesus is himself God. Because it shows a clear dichotomy of WILL between the father and the so called “son.” But I expect that in your usual fashion you will disregard Jesus’ own words in favour of your dogma.

In defending this, don’t you even dare bring up the lame line that it was his “human fear” that was speaking. Even mere mortals have shown great courage at the point of execution, or in battle, and you want to convince me that ALMIGHTY GOD, in human form, was not capable of stout hearted courage (especially when he was divine, and knew the purpose of his mission on the cross, and how sacred it was). Mere men have laid down their lives for their countries, happily and without asking for the cup to be removed from them. Gallantly! Now GOD himself, in human form, is not capable of such courage, to save his creatures?

Face it David: your dogma is more precious to you than the words of Jesus himself, who you call saviour and “God”!

Finally it is most pertinent to note that Jesus showed what sort of relationship he had with God when he says – “I am ascending to your father and my father, my God and your God”. [John 20:17]

This makes it pretty clear that in the same way as God is father for us, he is Father for Jesus, and that in the same way as God is God for us, he is God for Jesus.

No wonder 1 Pet. 1:3 – “Praise be to the God and father of our lord Jesus Christ!”

NOW STOP THE CIRCUS ANTICS, FACE THE VERSES ONE AT A TIME LIKE A MAN, AND DEAL WITH THEM SQUARELY.

Otherwise, I will be forced to call in the more competent Noetic to address this thread.

Now finally, juxtapose your so called verses against these verses of mine, and tell me the skeptic is not justified in seeing contradictions (even though i have shown you your verses are mistranslations and mis-interpretations).
David, this is an embarrasment: you have taken to your heels, unable to address this post?

Krayola:
How could homosexuality possibly lead to human extinction? How could we all go gay? Are u comfortable and secure with your sexuality?
bawomolo:
that's what homophobia does to the mind.

why would someone think such a thing is possible in a genetically diverse human population.
Krayola/ Bawomolo - please endeavour to read my post more carefully: I NEVER suggested that it was possible or likely that homosexuality would lead to human extinction.

I stated that: ANY action which would lead to such if universally adopted, was a macro social reverse, or danger.

What i simply mean is that a great parametre for judging the acceptability of an act would be an imaginary postulation of macro effects if universally applicable. We know that no act will ever be universally applicable but we use this postulation as a test for judging the acceptability or natruralness of any act.

For example, in assessing the acceptability of being a vegetarian, we can try this test. If the whole world decided to become vegetarian (note: this cannot happen), no significant reverse would result to humanity. Indeed there would be great benefits such as excess cattle for wool, leather, clothing and many other cattle based commodities, thus leading to an economic boom. Also many meat-based dieseases would evaporate. The general well-being of humanity would soar, heart dieseases and cancer would be reduced, and people will live longer. It can thus be deduced that being vegetarian is not only acceptable, but to be actively encouraged.

However apply the test to something like cannibalism. You will find that if the whole world choses to adopt cannibalism (note again: this cannot happen) then humanity is finished. Some persons can make a case that cannibalism is ok if limited to already dead persons who may have given consent for their bodies to be eaten. However we note that once human meat becomes general fare, the ripple effects will lead to a commercialization of human meat, and the sources of such meat will include murder. Humanity will be on a slippery slope to perdition. Consequently we can deduce that cannibalism is naturally wrong.

Thus it is simply an imaginary way of testing that which is right, and in tandem with nature and that which is wrong, unnatural, and deductively reverse.

Now, under no circumstances can you deny the efficacy of this test: it simply reveals things that are good and things that are bad in a very simple fashion.

I challenge you both to apply the test to any other act or human tendency in existence (not homosexuality, since that is the present issue) and you will see the inviolable efficacy of this test. Now if you cannot produce ONE SINGLE human act or tendency that debunks the efficacy of this test, then you both must unconditionally and rationally accept that the test is also right as per its deductive result on homosexuality: to wit: that it is unnatural and an unnacceptable reverse.

@ michelin89, its not just a personal thing, its a societal thing to the extent that if we were all gay, humanity would go extinct. Any act that holds such a potential once adopted universally is a macro social danger and should accordingly be discouraged under law
