aylipple: LOL. I can see some fellows threatening fire & brimstone when they should've directed their anger at H.E Alh. Atiku Abubakar, Sen. David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and co. for failing to do due diligence on the SPV of a party (ADC) that they went to hijack!
From the get-go, the adoption of ADC as the coalition's vehicle to send the abysmally performing APC packing from Aso Rock was an accident just waiting to happen! Only an ignoramus would claim ignorance of the crisis in ADC as at when Ralph Nwosu "sold" the party to Atiku and his group. They could've easily adopted another mushroom political party or even form theirs as Sen. Seriake Dickson did with NDC but no, they just had to shoot themselves in the foot and then turn around to blame Tinubu.
For the benefit of doubt, if the case goes against Atiku & co., the best they can do is negotiate with the victorious faction to allow them still use the ADC or find another crisis-free political party. But to say elections won't hold or that the heavens will fall? That's wishful thinking. Worse case scenario, Tinubu becomes the last President of a "unified" Nigeria (after all, isn't that what some of you have secretly and even openly wished for?) while the others can only rue what could've been; heads or tails, Atiku, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Kwankwaso & any other interested aspirant for the Presidency will never get to be President while the person they sought to displace would go down in history as the "last President" of Nigeria (even if ignominiously). + They have long hinted that they have back up plans. I hope they do. I dont want to see a one horse race which is what the govt seems to want. |

How can you JUST JOIN AND TAKE OVER AN ALREADY EXISTING PARTY JUST LIKE THAT because you have funds to buy people over. Why not simply form a brand new party as platform eh?
I knew this issue would happen.. + Be honest. Its not just the ADC. Wherever opposing figures gather, the govt is doing the same thing. Look at PDP, look at LP, look at NNPP, even SDP was invaded before it could start. They want a one party state and that can never augur well for this country. |

benalvino3: This train of thought is not qualified for this discussion 🤣🤣😂
Certification is the entry threshold, not proof that every qualified pilot is equally strong. If hiring is driven by a quota rather than selecting the strongest candidates within the qualified pool, then some better-qualified pilots may be passed over. You cannot argue with this point.
Some will have better records, more hours, stronger simulator performance, better judgment, better training history, better leadership, fewer incidents, better aircraft-specific experience, and stronger overall resumes. All these are factors. So if there is a program to prioritise a certain race, then it begs the question. + THE RED BOLD JUST SHOWS THAT YOU DONT KNOW HOW THE PROCESS WORKS. |

KobolanderSegun: Anyone who thinks they can over shine Jesus Christ is living in a delusion. Anyone who thinks they are smarter than Jesus Christ will live in oblivion.
When you consider all the " Great " thinkers were are they now ? Where are Socrates, Plato and the rest ? Despite my Non Conformist ways I give Jesus Christ his due because that is truly the Greatest Thinker there ever was and ever will be.
Jesus Christ taught simple Advanced Science so when I see a so called scientist not acknowledge Jesus I know that they don't know science well enough.
When I see a Thinker discredit Jesus I know that person has not thought hard enough.
It's simple it's like playing football and you say " Victor Osimhen is not a good footballer " it means one of two things 1. You have never watched football or 2. You have never seen Victor Osimhen play football.
There is No One smarter than Jesus Christ. A man that died 2,025 years ago and people sing his praises on Sunday Globally.
Me that has not been to a Church in 25 years sings his praise at home and on This Forum.
A man that the Romans changed the Global Calendar based on His Birthday. The Romans where the World Power at the Time and they bowed to his Teachings. They never thought highly of people from the middle east but they thought extremely highly of Him + Three quick things sir. . . I am not sure the distinguishing attribute of Christ was intellect (or whatever you call being "smart". . . Secondly, Jesus was likely not born on December 25, the Romans chose that date to align with the Saturnalia. . . . Thirdly the adoption of Christianity by Rome was likely a political masterstroke and not necessarily a spiritual thing. |

When you know, then come back
What in your mind provides election integrity? Its almost a No brainer, but the American left are actually no brainers + See Ijebos' post. It touches on some key points. Such as cost. They should make IDs free. Also it makes the good point that Dems are actually far more likely to have IDs than hill billys. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by DeepSight(m): 1:59pm On Apr 01 |
IjeBos: Did you see what happened in the last election in Nigeria? Ask people how difficult it was to get voter cards. I read stories and heard tales of people of certain tribes having very difficult times getting voter ids. You have first hand experience with it and still act like you don't.
Voting in the US is done at a precinct level by people who live in that precinct. So, when I walk in I meet someone who I see when I go running, who asks my address and then checks me in. In that voting place, there is an armed local cop outside and a couple armed local cops inside. The organization it would take for someone to vote multiple times is unrealistic. And you would be insane to risk voting illegal if you aren't a legal citizen yet.
Now, I am for security so I have no issue with voter id, in fact would prefer it. The problem is, can it be done in a manner that doesn't disenfranchise people. The Dems had a voting rights bill that allowed for voter ID. But they also had protections in place so people could get those IDs easily and at no cost. A cost to vote is a poll tax which is illegal in the US because of its racist history or being used to disenfranchise black voters. Voting is a right guaranteed by the constitution and should be treated as such.
Also, strangely enough this new Republican bill would disenfranchise Republican voters more than Democratic voters. Democrats are more likely to have a Passport(travel) and be able to get to a location to get an ID. So Dems are actually fighting for Republican voters here as usual but being criticized by the same people they are fighting for.
And lastly, the difference between DeepSight and you is that he speaks in a probing way. It sounds like he studies what he is talking about, has info to back it up and still stays in his lane on matters he may not have enough experience in. His goal seems to lean and grow his knowledge base. You talk like your word is the end all and be all of a topic especially when it's clear you really don't have facts to back it up or a firm understanding of that topic. It's the same thing Basilico and Bemeruca do in this thread. Like this post. You are arguing about how voter id worked in Nigeria without talking about one of the biggest issues, how big of a mess and how hard it was to get the voter card. And what seems like a deliberate, purposeful strategy to prevent some people from voting to game the election. + Excellent points particularly on the cost to vote point. |

How is John Smoth going to prove he is a US citizen without one of those document, why cant Deepsight also claim he is a US citizen and use the same excuse of No Birth cert and no US passport

raumdeuter: Since you are a Nigerian and familiar with Nigeria, I will use the Nigerian example
what do you think about Northerners in Nigeria benefitting and getting placed into top govt position due to quota system
Do you think its good for Nigeria that some people have a lower standards to get into positions?
When you get to a top position say NNPC and see a Hausa person what does your mind first go to? Maybe that this guy is not qualified and only got there because he was from the North. In some cases you might actually find out that this Northern man was a smart guy who went to Unilag UI Ife Nsukka Zaria and came tops like Prof Jubril aminu
Imagine you got to a surgeon table and see Doctor Abubakar Audu from Yobe state, maybe something will whisper in your mind that Are you sure this guy will know what he is doing?
You see that what was designed to help Northerners now became an albatross on the smart ones where everyone now doubt their abilities + This example is always at the back of my mind when discussing affirmative action. Nonetheless I am not sure you understand how affirmative action is worked out and applied in the USA. Secondly in areas of particular expertise, no unqualified person can get through, affirmative action or not. This you will not find any pilots or doctors who do not meet the standards of the industry. Thirdly and most importantly, the backwardness of the North in Nigeria did not arise from any lawfully endorsed past injustice of the state as is the case in America, where white people were legally given unmerited privileges for over a century. And black people were wildly marginalized and discriminated against for centuries. Therefore the social justification is strong in America while it is not in Nigeria. Finally, please know that the preponderance of Northerners in govt positions in Nigeria is not a function of quota system, it is a function of a Northern hegemonic system and a culture of Northerners directed towards public service roles and systemic dominance. |

Charlie Kirk questioned if a black pilot is qualified. Deepsight asked you if you know any pilot that is not qualified (did not do the minimum flight hours or training)
Either Charlie kirk made a foolish, racist remark or all black (and all races) are qualified.
Furthermore, diversity includes Hispanic, Native American, and Asian races. Why does Charlie Kirk only focus on black men and women when it comes to DEI.
The biggest DEI incompetent hires in government in the last year have all been Trump appointments- Hesgeth, Noem, Patel- all incompetent and unqualified for their jobs + Thank you! In fact for all their shouting about merit, just look at the disgraceful appointments! |
