Politics › Re: Several INEC Staff Say Results Transmitted To ‘Central Server' - Premium Times by Deepthoughts: 10:45pm On Jun 23, 2019 |
ishiamu: Server Controversy: Several INEC staff say results transmitted to ‘central server
Several officials who said they were deployed as electoral officers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2019 presidential election said they transmitted results electronically to a ‘central server’ through smart card readers.
This they said was done in compliance with the directive given by the commission during a three-day training before the polls.
The 20 officials deployed to various states, who mostly worked as presiding officers, said they were told that there was a “central server in Abuja” where results are collated electronically.
It is not immediately clear on which “central Server” the officials admitted to transmitting results but this has added a new twist to the ongoing confusion trailing INEC’s consistent denial that it used no server for the election.
A manual issued to the electoral officials by INEC for the 2019 election revealed that the “Communicate” icon on the Smart Card Reader should be used to transmit the accreditation data to the central server.
Another handbook for election officials in 2018 was however more précise on how presiding officers should use the card readers for electronic collation and transmission of results.
It said it became necessary to apply technology to transmit data and results from the polling units due to irregularities that take place after the voting process.
“After successfully filling the EC8A result sheet and announcing the result, the presiding officer shall tap the e-collation application on the home screen”, a part of the book read.
Backstory The runner up in February’s presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the election tribunal.
Read more : https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/336496-server-controversy-several-inec-staff-say-results-transmitted-to-central-server.html The simple truth of this server issue is that INEC has servers but because the law does not permit electronic transfer of elections results,INEC deployed the servers secretly in a collaborative scheme with APC/Buhari to monitor the elections results especially presidential upfront so that if the results didn't favour Buhari/Apc as it did happen, they can quickly employ dirty tricks to manipulate the results to their taste before making their final announcement, unfortunately Atiku/PDP were ahead of them n now INEC is confused n speaking with different sides of their tongue, unfortunately the more INEC try to play smart the more their folly keep staring them in the face, except the presidential elections tribunal are compromised or without conscience the least they should do is to cancel the elections as was done in Kenya recently. |

The lady asked how Benson got her number since he started the conversation on an informal note. And since he didnt respond to her query on time, she blocked him.
It was then after he had been blocked that he now gave the details of the company he was working for.

Should it be Chioma? Whom many users believe was right to ask the man where he got her number from since he didn't introduce himself as a staff of the company from inception of the chat.

Politics › Re: Women Not Subordinate To Men - Osinbajo by Deepthoughts: 7:23pm On Jun 16, 2019 |
etcsines: @titiloyeblog.com
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday urged men to love and honor women, reminding them that women are not subordinate to them.
According to him, women are created equal to men.
The Vice President made the declaration while speaking to State House correspondents after celebrating this year’s Fathers’ Day at the Aso Villa Chapel, Abuja.
He was joined at the service by his mother, Mrs. Olubisi Osinbajo, Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, and others.
He said, “I think the responsibility of the father is incredible indeed and I think what is most important is to teach our men, young men growing up, that they must honor women, not just their wives.
“Of course, you must honor and love your wives, but I think that it is very important that we honor women.
“We don’t treat them as subordinate to us; they are created equal to men.
“But most importantly, we must honor them and recognize their role as partners, not just in families, but in society as well.”
Streaming that men have important roles to play in the society, he said that it is not the ability to have a child that makes a man father.
“It is not the ability to father a child, the ability to have a child that makes you a father; it is the courage to bring up one, ability to raise one.
“That’s what really makes you a father and I think the responsibilities of fatherhood are so many, whether one is a biological father or whether you are one who wants to take care of other children.
“I think that all of us, as men, have a role to play in the life of so many, not just our biological children but so many of them who have no fathers, even to some who have fathers to who we have responsibility to set example to lead exemplary life, to bring them up as scripture says in the way of the Lord.”
Also speaking, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, who earlier took the 1st Reading of the service taken from Malachi 1:3-6, said “it is not what we tell our children, but the lives we lead and they see us lead” that is important in the life of fathers.
He said this would help a lot in the formative years of children and makes them responsible members of society.
On his part, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said the Fathers’ Day was not about the celebration but a reminder of the role men have to play in their families as the physical and spiritual head.
“It’s not about the celebration; I think it’s a constant reminder about our responsibilities as fathers.
“We are reminded of the fact that, first, we are the priests of our homes; so we ought to pray for our families.
“And when you have children that are aware that as a father, you are praying for them, the chances of their drifting will not be there because they know that the eyes of their father are constantly on them.
“Constantly, you are reminding God that he has entrusted you with this responsibility and you ought to live up to the responsibility.
“The second thing is that, as fathers, we are supposed to exemplify the life of Christ in the lives of our children because we are just like letters that our children read on a daily basis.
“It is not about how much we say, or what say; it is about our lifestyle.
“The other reminder is that we are breadwinners in our families and we ought to provide for our families.”
Mr. Mustapha had earlier taken the 2nd Reading of the Service taken from Exodus 17:8-16
Delivering the sermon, the Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, Reverend Seyi Malomo, advised fathers to be sensitive to discern any aggression that could harm their families.
Malomo also said fathers should lead their children in spiritual exercises like fasting and prayer, reminding them that their actions have direct implications for their children.
Prayers were said for President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, the legislature and the judiciary in Nigeria.
The congregation also prayed for unity, peace, and progress of Nigeria.
The highlight of the service was the presentation of gifts to President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives and others.

DeLinguaMan: A top contender for the position of Deputy Senate President in the Ninth National Assembly and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has dropped his ambition to support the party’s candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Igbere TV reports.
According to Kalu, his decision followed the official endorsement of Senator Omo-Agege and Hon. Muhammed Wase by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the positions of Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.
Igbere TV reports that Kalu, who had endorsed the duo of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for the positions of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively, has, consequently, endorsed Senator Omo-Agege for the position of Deputy Senate President.
Throwing his weight behind the party’s candidates across board, Kalu stressed that he will always abide by the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari and the NWC of the APC.
While thanking his associates, followers, well-wishers and colleagues, the former governor called on members of the 9th National Assembly to place the collective interest of Nigerians above selfish ambitions.
In a statement issued by his media office on Monday evening and sent to Igbere TV, the Senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial District, stressed that the decision of the party is supreme and must be respected by loyal party members.
He said, “I decided to throw my hat into the ring to contest for the position of Deputy Senate President after wide consultations with stakeholders especially my political associates, friends and colleagues (returning senators and senators–elect).
“However, I use this medium to announce my withdrawal from the race in the interest of the APC and Nigeria at large.
“I contested and won election as a Senator on the platform of the APC and as such, I cannot go against the decision of my party.
“The party, I am optimistic will consider the South East for other principal positions in the Senate and House of Representatives for the sake of national unity.
“The South East should be ably and well represented at the top hierarchy of the 9th national assembly.
“The 9th national assembly will work harmoniously regardless of party affiliations to ensure that the executive and judiciary arms of government are complemented in a bid to build a prosperous Nigeria”

Psoul: Senate President Bukola Saraki has directed the National Assembly Management to distribute his severance allowance to the families of Leah Sharibu and two other aid workers killed by Boko Haram terrorists.
He also instructed children of late Senators in need of financial assistance should benefit from the allowance.
In a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki stated the families of Hussaini Ahmed Khoisan and Hauwa Liman, the two murdered aid workers by Boko Haram should also be included.
In the case of the late senators’ children, Saraki directed a Trust Fund should be established by management of the National Assembly for those who may require financial assistance in furtherance of their education.
He stated that his decision to use the severance package to support the selected victims of the insurgency was based on the fact that their cases represented some of the most touching humanitarian issues debated at the plenary during the four-years of the Eighth Senate and on which his colleagues and himself made emotional and passionate speeches.
According to him, 20 percent of the severance allowance is to be donated to the family of Leah Sharibu while 20 percent is also to be paid to the family of Hauwa Liman, the aid worker brutally murdered by Boko Haram after she was captured.
Another 20 percent is to be donated to the family of the second aid worker, Hussaini Ahmed Khoisan, also murdered in the same circumstance by Boko Haram.
The remaining 40 percent should be used by the National Assembly Management to set up a TRUST FUND that will assist children of deceased members of the Eighth Senate who are in financial need for their education.
According to him: “It is my hope that this TRUST FUND should grow with more contributions from my dear colleagues, present, past and future, who may be moved to put in additional money into it.
“The Clerk of the National Assembly will immediately get an official letter from me mandating him to act as stated above on the disbursement of my Severance Allowance.”

Recall that while in BBN, Vandora had stated that her ex-boyfriend raped her repeatedly by having sex with her while she was asleep and without her consent.
In a recent interview, she stated, “When I made that comment about my ex in the house, rape had just been ‘redefined’ and based on what we were told, I believed that what my former partner did could be termed as rape.
It was actually a long time ago that I dated the person in question and the relationship had ended as of the time I made that comment. As a matter of fact, I’ve been in my present relationship for over five years. However, at that time, I didn’t really know the gravity of what I said.
“But it doesn’t matter that we were in a relationship; what the guy did was actually rape. If anybody is taking you against your will, it is rape, whether you’re in a relationship or not.
My partner has to seek permission before we get intimate because I may not want to at that time. It doesn’t count even if we had been intimate before then. Rape is actually a big deal, and so far sex is not consensual, it is wrong.”

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to him, there is no truth behind such speculations, adding that some persons, whom he described as fraudulent elements were behind the development with a ploy to defraud innocent Nigerians especially the candidates.
Benjamin said the cut-off marks could only be arrived at with the inputs of critical stakeholders in the education sector scheduled for days ahead.
“We want to seize this opportunity to caution the public especially candidates, not to allow themselves to be swindled by these desperate individuals that are peddling this rumour.
“The board is yet to come up with any cut-off mark for placements into the various tertiary institutions across the country.
“The cut-off marks cannot be decided upon without the input of critical stakeholders of the education sector at an elaborate policy meeting,” he said.
Benjamin explained that the next policy meeting would be holding on Tuesday, June 11, at Gbongan in Osun.
He disclosed that already, preparations for the meeting had been concluded, adding that officials of the Ministry of Education were expected to attend.
According to him, other key stakeholders were also expected to grace the occasion to determine the national cut-off mark.
The JAMB spokesman said that it was only after this had been achieved that the candidates would be availed of the cut-off marks of the various tertiary institutions across the country.
“The cut-off marks are the minimum expectation for every institution and that does not mean by attaining such cut-off mark, it therefore means an automatic placement into schools of first choice.

chibu4u2: Sometimes I wonder what is been taught in Nigerian universities offering Engineering as well as medicine. Most of these breakthroughs are being researched in mostly universities. Well basically theories and ancient notes from lecturers used in their own time. Some body once joked that, all we study in Nigerian universities is just different aspects of history whether medicine, sciences, social science, engineering or whatever course, now I think there's a lot of truths in what he said. |
