tactius: 1.Apology accepted.
2.Here is how subsidy works
a) I'm a yam seller. I buy yam from farmer at N500 a piece, and plan to sell it at N700 a piece.
b) The government moves in and tells me to sell it at N300, while they pay me a subsidy of N200 a piece.
c) I make no profit...and I cannot invest in buying more yam, or paying workers, or transporting yam to market...
3.Even using your example
a)I buy bread at N500, want to sell it at N700, making a profit of N200
B) Government steps in, and forces me to sell at N300...and just pays me the balance...
c) As a result, I don't have money to replace stock, pay workers, transport the bread...and this affects the makers of the bread too...no money for me to pay them N500 for bread and have something left over in profits...
d) At the end of the day, there are job losses, as people try to cut costs.
Or to cut a long story short...if I buy bread at N500 and government forces me to sell it at N300 and pays me subsidy of N200 per loaf...I won't have anything left over in profit. I would be bankrupt in months.
Thing about business....it's all about the profit. I have many businessmen and women in my extended family. If they foollowed what you were suggesting they do...they would be out of business...unless they go to the black market and sell it at even higher prices. If no profit as u claim cos it doesn't make sense How come people still import |

tactius: 1.If you are making a profit in several sectors of the oil industry as a player...yet losing millions in the petrol sector to subsidy....the thing is, you would be drawing away cash from those other sectors to make up for your loses in petrol sales.
It's something that happens in many businesses. Dangote recently sold his noodle making industry because it was making loses...and affecting other sectors.
2.Again, because we subsidise fuel...profits are not being made...which drives away investors ...which is why we don't have enough refineries by the way
3.Many gas companies don't just sell cooking gas...they also sell gas to industries for industrial use (not much profit there as our induistrial sector is bad) and the DISCOS and GENCOS to generate power (again not much profit due to stealing of electric power, DISCOS not metering everyone, etc)...and they lose money there. That scares away investors
4.And by calling me an illiterate, you were rude and you showed childish behaviour. The next time you exhibit such behaviour , I shall report you to the mods . Please be more civil. It reflects badly on you if you use insults in your speech. Hehehehe now let's go to school What's subsidy Because petrol is subsidies doesn't mean the company runs at a loss sir. What it means is they are told to sell to the consumer at a govt price while the govt pays the subtraction So it means if I buy bread from Lagos and after transportation and all the bread is now 500naira Govt tells u to sell at 300naira And pays u the balance of 200naira Its just what it is No looses Now can we clear this. Sorry for the name calling |

budaatum: 2 likes for the quality of writing, 3 likes for the sense
One night some girl and some guy were going to a party but had an accident and couldn't go anymore so they went to her house and she called the guy's mama.
"Mama", she said. "We had an accident" "Hehn!" Said mama. "Is anybody hurt?" "No mama". "Olorun seun" said mama. "Come now and finish my hair my dear", and mama put the phone down. The girl turned to the guy, " Mama said I should come do her hair". Guy looked at clock and yelled, "Hell no"! And they went to bed.
The next morning, they got up early and went to the guy's house where mama stays, and as soon as they entered, mama ripped! "What time is this? Why didn't you come last night? Is that how you disrespect your mother?! And you want to marry my son!?"
On hearing his mama, the guy said, "Mama mi, it was two o'clock in the morning! It would have taken us 2 hours to get here!" But mama was having none of it and ripped some more till eventually, the guy ripped too!
"Would you ask my sister your own daughter to travel at that time?" And mama's response brought thunder. "This is my house!" He said to his mama. If you cannot be civil to my friend and live in my house by my rules, then get out!"
Mama think say na joke. Every morning the guy would wake up and say, "Good morning mama mi. Are you still here? I want you to leave my house please!" And three weeks later, mama moved out, and the girl and guy got married a year later with mama's blessings.
A year to the day after they were married, the wife and husband were returning from the home office where the wife had just been given Indefinite Leave to Remain when she said, "It's been a while since I have been home to see my mother, I'd like to go and see her". So they arranged for her to go and she was gone for a month. And when she returned, she said she wanted a divorce, "your mama, your mama, your mama!" And they divorced.
She went on to have two beautiful daughters who are now married themselves, while mama is still praying that her 60 year old only son find a suitable woman to give her grandchildren.
I think you have the patience and wisdom to deal with this. You calmly presented your case and I believe you remain calm when dealing with mama hence the 3 likes. I think you should have moved on when he refused to defend you. You should have told him off big time when he didn't and got him to commit to defending you from attack. What if it were an outsider, would he have said nothing then too?! Talk to him about it now.
The two star is for not living with her and for keeping her in a different state. That's bold! She has not changed. You saw it when she spoke to her husband who must have put up with her as long as her oldest child has lived. Don't go there! If she and her son move to your state, its probably time to move states unless you get that commitment from him to defend you from her in writing! And it likely would be worth less than the ink its written in! A commitment would her would be worth more, but I think that's wishing on a star territory.
I'll be rooting for you. Remain strong.

tactius: And because petrol is subsidised, the oil industry is losing billions in naira...which means it cannot make investments in facilities, including increasing gas production.
Because, let's be honest...we flare lots of gas into the air because it is cheaper to do so. So petrol is the only thing gotten from crude oil So as petrol is subsidied It has affected the whole oil industry that they loose billions Stop talking like an illiterate |

laudate: Why do people like you keep talking without any insight or rational analysis? Are you the one that will lay the pipes, or do the reticulation to pipe gas into buildings in Nigeria?
Do you know how many years and how much funds it would cost to do that all over Nigeria, with the level of infrastructure we currently have?
Why do you people like to castigate everything, but cannot provide solutions? In India and many parts of South East Asia as well as Latin American countries, gas is still sold in cylinders. Even in rural parts of the US and Canada, especially in off-grid homes, gas cylinders are common. Pls don't talk about what you do not know. DJInfluence: We always blame Govt for the things we do. Na govt carry firewood go there? We destroy and misuse public properties, then blame govt. If we treat these collective properties, the way we would our own, then the amount and energy needed by the govt to maintain them would be 10 times less.
So my take is that govt is 40% at fault for lack of proper maintenance and enforcement of common environmental laws while the citizens are 60% guilty of lacking common sense. Don't blame the people U don't create vacuum in prime real estate area Once u do People will move in So the fault is the govt |

magicminister: Wooooow!!
This is why I always advise ladies to preferably marry a rich person or at-least someone from a well exposed middle class (lower or upper). The only reason this lady died is because the man didn’t want to spend adequately to get her proper medical attention or it could just be that he can’t afford it. Regardless, the lady is dead and that child will never know the love of a mother.
My friend, married a poor man. Too bad I didn’t know her before she married the poor man. She’s a beautiful woman that could’ve had any partner she wanted but she didn’t know her worth. Unfortunately, the man started beating her for the slightest provocation, her first daughter (4 years old) got sexually assaulted by unknown neighbor(s).
When she got pregnant with the second child, she got free antenatal but when it was time to give birth, the husband shipped her to the village and hired a cheap dirty local doctor. The second child died at birth and she almost lost her life.
Ladies, let them call you gold digger or whatever but never ever ever ever ever marry a poor person... marry a man that can atleast put food on the table for you and your children (2 atleast) and pay medical bills during child birth. He doesn’t have to own a mansion or fancy cars but he must be able to provide the basics for the household.
things can always change for the better or worse but wise up!
—————
P.s. my friend is an hair dresser. She’s humble and very hard working and her meager income is what she’s been using to sustain her child and stupid husband (I call him stupid cos he beats her$. As a matter of fact, the reason I chose to become close to her was cos she was willing to spend the little income she made on me after I told her I was really starving and haven’t had anything to eat all day. She has a heart of Gold and would’ve been greater with the right man or right opportunity/circumstance. Madam ur friend is not humble She married her type as time don dey go no hunkle come marry Shakara don dey end so she manage hunkle wey come Stop making her look like mother Mary She is a cheap farm tool that got her type of man All of una na the same Ba becos u still dey sell market we never hear ur own story |

francescainnoce: Very correct and you hit the nail right on the head. He explained the scenario that led to that incident. The iPod is the device he use for revision nd had used that the night before the exam. So there were materials on the device but these were for revision purposes and he had not intended to use it. INFACT, he emphatically asked that they check his answer script with the material found on the device - his argument is that he didn’t use the material. But the uni expelled him based on the material. He can’t inform his mom; for fear of high blood pressure and tension. But his guardian ( elder sister) is very much in talks with the lawyer as it stands. The hope is that the appeal would yield a positive outcome. We don’t mind punishment but expelling after how many millions - now that is truly hard. He is very stupid Its like telling a judge I carried a gun but I didn't intend to us it I only kept it by my side while I asked the lady to kindly give me her bag Intent is there No matter how nice he seem to sound to u He should have known his school fees was in millions before taking the device to the exam He said he didn't use it. Look u can use the revision without copying word for word He could use it for remembrance Did that cross ur mind He is a liar and a cheat He should go and learn a skill or write jamb again I doubt he will win his appeal |

See how they are using their cell phones to find them Many don't know that ur last known position can be verified by ur cell phone
Once u are in a place ur cell phone pings the mast or tower nearby All the police needs to do is check the amount of pings the closest tower had during a crime Eliminate all pings that are constant And look for those pings that seem unusual And the crime suspects are known through the registered sim cards People need to know how to commit a crime I watch a lot of investigation discovery on Dstv And I have learnt a lot on crime cases |
