IGP INTEGRATES SMART POLICING, DIRECTS OFFICERS TO KEY IN, ENCOURAGES NIGERIANS TO EMBRACE "NPF RESCUE ME APP", OTHER INNOVATIONS

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, recently concluded a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art National Command and Control Centre (C4i) facility and the Nigeria Police Crime and Incidence Database Centre (NPCIDC) at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The purpose of the tour was to emphasize the IGP's commitment to integrating smart policing strategies into the Nigerian Police Force. During the tour, the IGP reiterated the efforts of the Police Force in adopting cutting-edge technologies and urged officers to fully leverage these tools to enhance their operations and improve service delivery to the citizens.

In line with the vision of the Nigeria Police Force to foster stronger community engagement, the IGP also took the opportunity to encourage all Nigerians to embrace, download, and use the "NPF Rescue Me App." This innovative mobile application provides a platform for citizens to quickly alert the Police Force in emergency situations, thereby facilitating prompt response and assistance. The “NPF Rescue Me App” is available on both the ‘android’ and ‘ios’ application stores for free downloads and usage.

In the same vein, the IGP directed all investigation units and police formations to instantly reactivate the use of the applications installed at the NPCIDC, where the biometrics and other relevant data/information of every suspect will be updated and kept for improved investigations and record keeping which will be readily available to police operatives to ensure a credible electronic criminal database to support investigations.

Similarly, in addition to the Digitalized Central Motor Registry which is already operational, the NPF is working on innovating other areas paramount to security. Some of these which would be unveiled within the year include the Police Mobile Security Surveillance which will amongst other things capture all motor parks, commercial drivers operating daily in Nigeria, and passengers plying various routes, including hotel lodging data; and the Domestic Help Registration to create and manage a centrally accessible data of all domestic helps with verifiable previous employment data.

The Inspector-General of Police expressed his continuous commitment to modernizing the Nigerian Police Force through the integration of smart policing strategies. The adoption of advanced technologies, such as the C4i facility, the "NPF Rescue Me App," and the NPCIDC will revolutionize law enforcement operations and strengthen the bond between the police and the citizens.

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have continued to give criminal elements sleepless night, as officers serving in Awkunanaw Division of the Command, today intercepted armed criminal elements, who were attempting to snatch an ENTRACO branded Sharon mini-van from its driver, along Agbani Road, Enugu.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe stated that, "In its avowed commitment to ruthlessly deal with unrepentant subversive criminal elements, who may want to enforce the prohibited illegal sit-at-home order in Enugu State, Police Operatives serving in Awkunanaw Division of the Command, in the morning hours of today, 07/07/2023, intercepted armed criminal elements, who were attempting to snatch an ENTRACO branded Sharon minivan from its driver, at One-Day, along Agbani Road, Enugu."

According to the statement, "The gallant and eagle-eyed Operatives engaged the miscreants in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon the vehicle and narrowly escaped with varying degrees of fatal gunshot wounds, due to the superior firepower of the Operatives. An intense manhunt for the hoodlums is ongoing."

"The vehicle, with copious blood stains on the seats and other items therein, was recovered, and after a thorough search conducted, the following exhibits were recovered: one (1) AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with nineteen (19) rounds of live 7.62 calibre of ammunition, two (2) bottles of petrol bomb, one (1) hammer, one (1) plyer and one (1) Jack-knife. Other items recovered include a pair of canvass with blood stains abandoned by one of the escaping miscreants, fetish objects, one (1) mobile phone, three (3) criminal hoods, one (1) hooded long sleeves, another without a hood and other incriminating exhibits."

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, while commending the gallant Operatives, has reaffirmed that the Police and other Security Forces shall remain focused, sustain the ongoing onslaught against the subversive criminals and ensure that the good people of the State continue to go about their lawful businesses without fear of any kind.

Accordingly, the Commissioner has called on citizens of the State, especially owners of medical facilities and those residing within the Awkunanaw, One-Day, Topland and Achara Layout axis of Enugu metropolis, to promptly report to the Police, anyone, dead or alive, sighted with gunshot wounds.

Supernatural Breakthrough Is My Heritage
-Mat. 5:14-16

What is the Spirit of the Lord saying for the month of July 2023.

Every revival season is characterized by spiritual labour- Hab. 2:3-9/ 2Chr. 15:3-12/15

According to scriptures, every child of GOD has a heritage of breakthrough on earth- Mat. 5:14-16/ Rev. 5:9-10

But all we need is to keep walking in the light of scriptures for this to become a reality in our lives- Deut. 28:1-13/ Isa. 60:1-22/ Eph. 5:8

Furthermore, we understand from scriptures that breakthrough is the identity of everyone that is truly in love with GOD, because true lovers of GOD are ordained pathfinders, pacesetters, and trailblazers- Rom. 8:28/ 1Cor. 2:9

When a believer is truly in love, he dwells in GOD and GOD is in him, which makes him a breakthrough personality on the earth- 1Jhn 4:16/ Rom. 8:31

In the same vein, all true and abiding lovers of GOD are sold-out servants of GOD, and they continue to command supernatural breakthrough all the way in their journey- Rom.8:37-39/ Act.14:11/ Act. 19:14-15

But here is another definition of love from Christ Himself.
■Do you love me? Then keep my commandments - Jhn 14:21/ 1Jhn 5:3
■ Do you really love me? Serve my interest on the earth, that is, have a genuine passion for souls? - Jhn 21:15-17/ Jhn 15:16

Supernatural breakthrough is not a myth, but simply a product of our proven love for GOD - 1Cor. 2:9

Unfortunately, all of us have this breakthrough heritage within us, but most of us do not know the worth of this treasure, just as Moses did not know the worth of the rod in his hand - Exo. 4:1-5/ 2 Tim. 1:6-7

But as many as genuinely commit to the required spiritual labour of Kingdom advancement endeavors during this second half of the midst of the year revival season shall step into new realm of supernatural breakthrough - Mal. 6:33/ Rom. 8:28/ 1Cor. 2:9

My prayer is that every engaging Winner shall experience next levels of breakthrough as a result of each one's quality investment of time, energy and resources in Kingdom advancement endeavours this month, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

FCT POLICE ARRESTS FOUR SUSPECTS FOR STABBING AND CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT ON ONE LABARAN USMAN IN JABI AREA

• As CP charges Officers to aggressively flush out miscreants from the Territory

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, have arrested four suspects in connection with the stabbing and causing grievous hurt on one Labaran Usman in the Jabi area of the FCT.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh stated that, "Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, attached to the Utako Divisional Headquarters, have arrested four suspects in connection with the stabbing and causing grievous hurt on one Labaran Usman in the Jabi area of the FCT. The suspects, namely: Mubarak Ibrahim 'M,' 24yrs (2) Mohammed Adamu 'M,' 18yrs and (3) Aliyu Ibrahim 'M,' 19yrs, were arrested by the Police team while responding to a distress call that someone was stabbed by a group of young men suspected to be cult members around Jabi car park. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two (2) daggers used in the perpetration of the dastardly act."

According to the statement, "The team while intensifying investigations on the earlier arrest, on the same date, arrested another member of the group, one Ibrahim Tsoho Musa 'M,' 48yrs old, from Jos North LGA, Plateau State. A search was conducted on his residence at Angwa Fulani Bwari, FCT, at 18:00hrs, where one locally fabricated rifle, loaded with six rounds of ammunition, one military camouflage trouser, and two dagger were recovered from him."

"Investigations by the Police team have revealed how the suspects perpetrated the crime and other nefarious activities they have committed within the FCT.
Meanwhile, effort is at top gear to unravel the source of the recovered firearm and also to clamp down on other members of the criminal syndicates still at large. The victim, Labaran Usman 'M,' 32yrs from Kaduna State, who was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention is confirmed to be recuperating."

"The Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Haruna G Garba, while commending the men, tasked them to increase the tempo and aggressively flush out miscreants from the Territory. He also enjoined residents of the FCT to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to the police through the following emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, while the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) desk, which could be reached at 09022222352."

Following the recent spread of disinformation with regards to the NPF sports levy deduction by some sections of the media, the Nigeria Police Force vehemently wishes to clarify that these claims are baseless and misleading, calculated to deceive the public and rubbish the integrity of the Force, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report. 

In as much as the Force does not intend to dignify the unprofessionalism and falsehood of the media outlets, it has however become rife to correct the baseless and misleading news publication aimed at maligning the person and integrity of the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, with regards to the Police Annual Sports Levy deduction. The Nigeria Police Force Sports is primarily funded by an annual deduction which has been in force from time immemorial; and it was consolidated in the year 2003, and reviewed by the management of the Force in the year 2012. More so, the deduction credited to the new Acting IGP was approved some months before his appointment.

Attempting to sensationalize this longstanding annual practice and personalizing it to the current Inspector General of Police is not only mischievous but a disservice to the above stated facts. It is evident that the purveyors of this disinformation are poised to mislead the public by distorting the truth and creating unnecessary mischief. The Force, therefore, strongly urges the public and media outlets to verify information and desist from spreading baseless claims calculated at tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force while encouraging well-meaning Nigerians to discountenance the malicious publication.

The appointment of Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has definitely changed the rhythm of Police tradition most especially on certain administrative and operational engagements which will surely trigger a paradigm shift for the betterment of our internal security architecture. In his maiden speech, Egbetokun has christened himself a lion and tiger ready to devour criminals in Nigeria, and he matched his words with actions by rolling out his strategic action plans including the establishment of a Special Intervention Squad that will be deployed to the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and other areas prone to terrorists attacks.

It has however become pertinent to critically analyze the recent developments regarding the proposed withdrawal of Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel from Very Important Persons (VIPs) to form the Special Intervention Squad announced by the Acting Inspector General of Police. One will ordinarily think Egbetokun's pronouncement is as usual, like preceding announcements by previous IGP’s, which never saw the light of the day, or were never complied with by officers and men on the field. It is imperative to state categorically that this policy is not a regular procedure as the Ag. IGP’s approach includes the setting up of a committee to guide the process and the exploration of the use of supernumerary officers, in line with the provisions of Sections 23 to 25 of the Police Act 2020.

The incessant abuse of police officers attached to certain individuals and companies on guard or escort duty has become worrisome and detestable, particularly by the present leadership. This necessitates the drive to not only deploy these officers for strategic police assignments, but to also sanitize the police, review the process and deployment of men on VIP guards, in order to restore the dignity of the personnel in particular, and the NPF in general.

The decision to withdraw PMF personnel from VIPs and establish a Special Intervention Squad is aimed at ensuring a more inclusive and effective security framework that caters to the needs of all Nigerians rather than a select few. This strategic shift in approach recognizes the importance of equal access to security services for all citizens and seeks to enhance the overall safety and well-being of the Nigerian populace. The current leadership possesses the requisite zeal to enforce the directive and monitor the withdrawal process, ensuring it is seamless while gradually moving away from individual protection to collective general social safety

By establishing a committee to guide the process headed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of operations, the IGP is demonstrating a commitment to transparency, accountability, and actualization of the policy for improved public safety. This committee will oversee the implementation of the withdrawal process and ensure a smooth transition while addressing any concerns or challenges that may arise. It will work in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including VIPs, to ensure that the interests and security requirements of all concerned are duly considered.

Furthermore, the exploration of the use of supernumerary officers aligns with the provisions of Sections 23 to 25 of the Police Act 2020. This legal framework allows VIPs to employ individuals for their security and have them trained by the police as supernumerary officers. This approach not only provides an opportunity for VIPs to have dedicated security personnel but also ensures that these individuals receive proper training and adhere to professional standards set by the police.

The introduction of a Special Intervention Squad will further enhance the capacity of the Police Force to respond swiftly and effectively to emerging security challenges across the country. This specialized unit will be adequately equipped and trained to handle critical situations and provide rapid assistance where needed. The focus on establishing this squad demonstrates the IGP's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.

In conclusion, the proposed withdrawal of PMF personnel from VIPs and the establishment of a Special Intervention Squad by the IGP represent a significant departure from previous approaches. The involvement of a guiding committee and the exploration of supernumerary officers under the provisions of the Police Act 2020 ensure that the process will be inclusive, transparent, and effective. This strategic shift aims to create a security framework that caters to the needs of all Nigerians, promoting equal access to protection and fostering a safer environment for the entire nation.
